CWA Monday Night Mayhem: January 9th, 2006...

americamamushiPosted on 10/05/06 at 02:40:41

Welcome to the second edition of CWA Monday Night Mayhem!  Hopefully you all enjoyed our debut edition last week where we saw Randy Orton pin Ric Flair in the main event with a little help from his father.  Tonight we hope to bring you another exciting evening of wrestling action.  Lets get down to the ring for tonight's first match up!

"The Suicidal, Homicidal, Genocidal" Sabu vs. Little Guido

Little Guido was a cocky lil monkey in the begining of the match.  Guido's attitude tends to get him into trouble and tonight was no different.  Sabu didn't take kindly to Guido's arrogance and layed on an offensive onslaught that probably got him close to DQ several times, but then again, thats the way Sabu operates.  Sabu took Guido down with a dropkick to the knee and pounced on him, latching on the camel clutch, ending the match with shades of his uncle and mentor the original Sheik.  Guido tried valiantly to hold on, but eventually passed out.

Sabu defeated Little Guido when Little Guido passed out in a camel clutch in 0:06:22.
Rating: ** 1/2

Backstage we see Rob Van Dam in a private corner of the arena by himself.  He cuts a very ECW-esque promo about himself, hyping his debut next week against Christopher W. Anderson.  RVD claims that no family tie is going to help C.W. on next week's edition of Mayhem.  RVD already seems to be determined to make a big impact in CWA with his unique style of wrestling.

"Mr. Wrestling" Nick Dinsmore vs. Tony Mamaluke

Mamaluke and Dinsmore started out with some nice wrestling exchanges, but you could tell that Dinsmore wasn't throwing 100% of his talent into the exchanges, because slowly he started pouring more and more into the exchanges and it wasn't long before Mamaluke was in huge trouble and couldn't dig himself out of the hole he was in.  Dinsmore took Mamaluke down with a fireman's carry and quickly flowed into the German Suplex for the three count.

Nick Dinsmore pinned Tony Mamaluke with the German Suplex in 0:06:46.
Rating: *** 3/4

After the match as Dinsmore was celebrating his victory Scott Steiner started making his way down to the ring.  Dinsmore didn't seem to want to deal with Steiner, but Steiner was not to be detered.  He got in Dinsmore's face, but Dinsmore being the guy that he is took the high road and refured to fight with Steiner.  Steiner's loss last week was his own fault and Dinsmore wasn't about to encourage Big Poppa Pump's ridiculous reaction.  Dinsmore left the ring before Steiner really snapped and walked up the ramp.  Steiner was not happy that Dinsmore left and kept yelling at him that he'll regret it.

Backstage we see Randy & Bob Orton in Jonathan Coachman's office and the Coach does not look terribly amused with their presence.  The Ortons, naturally, are bragging about Randy's win over Flair last week when they are unceremoniously interupted by an angry Carlito who imidiately demands a match with Christian Cage tonight.  Randy started arguing with Carlito for interupting him and finally the Coach had had about enough.  He told all three men to shut up and listen.  "Carlito... you're not going to get your one-on-one match with Christian tonight... but I have a great idea... you'll be on the opposite side of the ring from Christian tonight... but it'll be in a tag team match as Randy Orton & Christian Cage team up to face Carlito... and Ric Flair!"  Carlito seems pleased to have gotten a chance to get his hands on Cage, but Orton isn't pleased with having to be opposite Flair again.

Semi-Final Match for the Tag Team Titles: Chris Sabin & Charlie Haas vs. The Spirit Squad (Johnny & Kenny) w/Mikey

No one was really sure how well Sabin and Haas would function as a unit, but they faired pretty well as a team.  Better than most probably expected anyway.  A couple times they even seemed to almost win the match.  The Spirit Squad, while arrogant, immature and annoying among other things, are also a trio.  Which means that essentially this was 3 on 2 which stacked the deck against Sabin and Haas.  Charlie Haas ended up taking the fall after getting thwacked with the Johnny-Go-Round following a little triple team action behind the ref's back and they are through to the finals at CWA's first PPV entitled Battle Royale 1, set to take place January 29th.

[Semi-Final Match for the Tag Team Titles]:
The Spirit Squad (Johnny and Kenny) defeated Chris Sabin and Charlie Haas when Johnny pinned C. Haas with the Johnny-Go-Round in 0:11:39.
Rating: ** 1/4
[Mikey interfered against Chris Sabin.]

Main Event: "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair & Carlito vs. "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton & "Captain Charisma" Christian Cage

Tonight's meeting stayed fairly even through out.  Each team had pockets of offense and near falls, but if you were keeping score they'd have been about tied on points.  Bob Orton stayed out of the match for the most part which was a surprise.  Randy Orton and Christian Cage had trouble working well with eachother as it ended up being quite a clash of egos.  Bob Orton clocked Carlito with his cast (which I imagine no longer encases a broken arm after this many years) while the ref wasn't looking opening up a chance for Randy to win the match, except Cage wanted the glory, especially over Carlito, and tagged himself in.  This naturally didn't sit well with Orton and the two ended up arguing, giving Carlito time to recover.  While Cage and Orton were still arguing Carlito hit Cage with the backcracker out of nowhere!  Carlito pins Cage and Orton just watches with a smirk on his face.  Carlito keeps an eye on Orton, in a bit of disbelief that Orton let him pin Cage.

[Main Event]:
Carlito and Ric Flair defeated Randy Orton and Christian Cage when Carlito pinned Cage with the Backcracker in 0:16:27.
Rating: ***
[Bob Orton Jr. interfered against Carlito.]

Carlito exits and celebrates his victory with the fans, but Flair has a little unfinished business with one Randy Orton and wants to settle things right now.  Orton is a little hesitant to go to blows with Flair, not quite believing that Flair is actually suggesting this as in Orton's mind it means a sure beating for the Nature Boy, but they start exchanging blows!  Chops by Flair!  Orton kicks Flair in the stomach and tries for an RKO, but Flair kicks back and makes a direct hit to the groin!  In comes Cowboy Bob!  He swings the casted arm at Flair, but Flair ducks and daddy hits his still standing baby boy, knocking him hard to the canvas!  Bob can't believe what he just did.  Chops to Cowboy Bob... Flair pulls the cast off... Cast shot to Bob Orton!  The fans are going nuts as Flair joins Carlito on the outside.  They shake hands and celebrate their win as the show comes with two angry Ortons in the ring and a none too happy Christian Cage on the outside.

Well tonight surely ended with a bang.  Tonight the fires of contempt were only fanned and surely this will end with blood in the long run.  Make sure to join us next week when Sabin & Haas will be in action together again against the FBI, in the first of two tag team title final preview matches Brother Devon will face off with Kenny, and Rob Van Dam will make his debu against Christopher W. Anderson.  Be sure to join us next week for more great CWA wrestling action!

Another good card.

Whats Dinsmore's deal? He seems almost bored. You gotta thrown more competition at the guy.

Looking forward to Team 3D vs Spirit Squad..

I wasn't trying to convey that Dinsmore was bored.  More like he was just toying with Mamaluke because I'm trying to push Dinsmore as a real technical wonder in CWA.  I was trying to give the impression that Dinsmore was sort of wrestling at Mamaluke's level, then he slowly turned up the juice on Mamaluke to his own level.  Guess I could've figured a way to put that all down better  :-/
