CWA Monday Night Mayhem: January 2nd, 2006...

americamamushiPosted on 10/03/06 at 03:20:12

Well, with GCW/GLWF on haitus I figured I'd try and start a side project to tide me over until things are back up and running too. I had a main idea for a storyline/angle I wanted to run with but had a hard time finding the right pieces to fit around it. Finally though I think I stumbled onto something I can work with so here it is: Championship Wrestling America. A roughly TNA sized federation that runs a TV show each week and a PPV each month.

[hr]

After the pyro for this, the debut edition of Championship Wrestling America, "Hard Hittin" by Homebwoi plays and out comes Jonathan Coachman. He welcomes the fans to CWA's Monday Night Mayhem which will hopefully be the first in a long line of great shows that the CWA will bring to wrestling fans everywhere. The Coach announces to everyone that he is the right hand man to the owner of the CWA, who has decided to remain behind the scenes for the time being. Coach says that the fans may not always like his decisions or actions, but that he and the owner of the CWA will always act in what they believe to be the best interest of the fans and of wrestling as a whole. That having been said, it's time to get things started right, with CWA's very first match.

Chris Sabin vs. Justin Credible

Justin wanted to make an impact tonight and try and get himself back on top of the wrestling scene and showed it by trying to attack Sabin before the bell, but Sabin was too quick for him and the match ended up getting a fair start after all. Credible seemed to have a hard time keeping up with Sabin at times who had his amp turned up to 11 tonight. Sabin managed to get the win after stunning Justin with a double springboard dropkick.

Chris Sabin pinned Justin Credible after a double springboard dropkick in 0:05:51.
Rating: *** 1/2

An impressive debut for Sabin tonight. This young talent wants to show he has what it takes to rise to the next level already here in CWA.

Backstage we see the ourside of the Coach's office. He's admiring the plaque on his door when someone comes up behind him. It's Randy Orton! And he's not alone, his father, the legendary "Cowboy" Bob Orton is with him. Coach turns around, a little startled, but quickly composes himself as Orton smirks at him. Randy and Bob tell the Coach how great Randy is. They make some claims such as how Randy will be the first CWA World Heavyweight champion and will carry the belt aroud his waist until he retires, setting the record for the longest title reign in pro wrestilng history, not to mention that he'll go undefeated in that time and plenty of other things that aren't terribly likely to ever come true. Coach feigns being impressed and when it finally seems like the Ortons are done says that after hearing all of that he's got a great idea. Why not end CWA's debut broadcast of Mayhem with a match featuring none of that the "Messiah" of CWA, Randy Orton. And since Orton claims to be a man who is the killer of legends... why not put that claim to the test. Because tonight in the main event it'll be Randy Orton going one-on-one with "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair! The Ortons don't seem to happy at first, but them Randy gets the smug smirk and calms his father down before Randy tells the Coach "Thank you... and you won't regret this... Jon."

Over the P.A. we hear "MIKEY! KENNY! JOHNNY! And we are... the SPIRIT SQUAD!" followed by a generic fight song. Mikey, Kenny and Johnny all come out to the ring despite Mikey being the only one scheduled for this evening. They do a little cheer in the ring as the fans boo them to stop. The three introduce themselves and claim that tonight they'll give the fans a taste of whats to come as Mikey obliterates Shark Boy and that next week the fans will get a taste of the strangle hold they plan on locking onto the tag division after Kenny and Johnny will team up to take on Chris Sabin and Charlie Haas in a semi-final match for the tag team title belts.

Shark Boy vs. Mikey

Mikey stayed in charge of this match virtually from start to finish and Kenny & Johnny didn't interfere in the least. Shark Boy got a few moments of offense and even locked his powerful jaws onto Mikey's hind quarters, which Mikey quickly followed with an angry reverse neckbreaker, and then followed that with the Senton Bomb for the win.

Mikey pinned Shark Boy with the Senton Bomb in 0:05:53.

Semi-Final Match for the Tag Team Titles: Team 3D (Brother Ray & Brother Devon) vs. The Full Blooded Italians (Little Guido & Tony Mamaluke)

Wrestling fans know that these four people have been familiar with eachother for quite some time and it was obvious in their meeting tonight. The FBI gave up a size and strength advantage, but it didn't effect them as bad as one would naturally think thanks to their history with Team 3D. If you had to say one team was winning and one was losing, you could say that Team 3D was winning. The FBI had their fair share of control and offense, but Team 3D seemed to be the ones edging out over their foes. Devon leveled Mamaluke on the outside as Guido tried for the Arrivaderci, but Ray blocked it as Devon slid into the ring and threw Guido into Devon, who heaved him up as Ray bounced of the ropes and hit the 3D for the victory.

[Semi-Final Match for the Tag Team Titles]:
Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon) defeated The Full Blooded Italians (Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke) when BRD pinned Little Guido with the 3D in 0:08:56.

Carlito is backstage with being interviewed by CWA backstage reporter Tamera Knapp. She introduces Carlito, but before Carlito can say two words Christian Cage walks on screen. He says he doesn't understand why Tamera would want to interview Carlito when she has access to someone like Captain Charisma. Christian tells Carlito that he's not as cool as he likes to think he is and finishes off by saying "You want cool? Then you shouldn't be thinking of Carlito... you should be thinking of the 4 Cs of wrestling. 'Captain Charisma' Christian Cage. Why don't you go and chew on that apple cupcake." before walking off. Carlito doesn't look too happy that his interview segment was just stolen by Christian and gets the final word with "That... was definitely... not cool." before we head back down to ringside for our next match of the evening.

"Mr. Wrestling" Nick Dinsmore vs. "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner

Nick Dinsmore's title of "Mr. Wrestling is a suiting one. He's deifinitely one of the most gifted wrestlers in the CWA and takes somewhat of an old school approach to the ring. Scott Steiner is a bohemoth of a man whose muscles even have muscles. Steiner used his power to get his licks in, while when things came down to ability Dinsmore easily took the technical cake. As Scott Steiner grew more and more frustrated with Dinsmore out wrestling Steiner, who has quite a history of talent despite his straying from that style over the past several years, and still views himself as a talented technical worker. So when Dinsmore was getting the better of Steiner it really weighed in on him. Eventually Steiner's frustrations blew over and he gave referee Monroe Pratt a hard shove down to the canvas when he tried to get in between Steiner and Dinsmore, causing Steiner to get DQed.

Nick Dinsmore defeated Scott Steiner by disqualification in 0:12:27.
Rating: * 1/4

Dinsmore knew enough to get out of the ring as Steiner was not a happy camper. Lucky for the ref, he managed to get out before Steiner could lay another hand on him.

Main Event: "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs. "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton w/ "Cowboy" Bob Orton

The main event started off squarely in Randy's favor. He over took Flair early on and managed to keep the Nature Boy's offense to a minimum. He never went for the kill though, wanting to rub in the fact that he is a legend killer and the new face of pro wrestling, while Ric Flair was nothing more than washed up. Orton's arrogance got the better of him though and Flair managed to mount a big comeback, even going so far as locking in the Figure-4 Leglock, though Cowboy Bob helped Randy get the rope break. Randy went back on the offensive and after a little while tried for the RKO, but Flair shoved him off! Flair runs into the ropes but Bob Orton grabs Flair's foot! Flair jaws at him for a minute, which was a bad move as Randy was waiting and when Flair turned around he got jacked hard with the RKO. Orton got an arrogant one footed pinfall for the win.

[Main Event]:
Randy Orton pinned Ric Flair with the RKO in 0:16:29.
Rating: ***
[Bob Orton Jr. interfered against Ric Flair.]

The debut edition of CWA Monday Night Mayhem is in the books and we hope that you enjoyed it. Already on the card for next week's edition is Sabu vs. Little Guido, Nick Dinsmore vs. Tony Mamaluke, the second semi-final match for the tag team titles featuring Chris Sabin & Charlie Haas vs. Kenny & Johnny of the Spirit Squad and we'll hear from Rob Van Dam! We hope to see you next week, good night from all of us here at Championship Wrestling America!

HAIL SABIN!

Coach rules.  Though he shouldn't be giving Orton what he wants.  Orton is a poohead.

MIKEY!  Did he win with skidmarks?

For some reason, I find myself never able to stand the former Dudleys, so I be sad they won.

Carlito+Christian = *drools*

ACK!  STEINER ROID RAGE!

A predictable main event, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Good opening stuff... on to round 2!
