Ring of Honor 'Glory By Honor V Weekend' (Night One):
Friday, September 15, 2006
East Windsor, CT

-----------------

(Opening Match)
Jack Evans pinned Jimmy Jacobs with the Corkscrew 630 in 0:07:39.
Rating: ** 1/2
[Lacey interfered against Jack Evans.]

Match Recap- Jimmy Jacobs couldn't even pull off the win when Lacey
knocked Evans off the top rope to the concrete floor! Jack Evans is
in RoH to prove one thing, that he is worthy of the respect of many
fans and wrestlers, and I think he earned it here tonight.
==========

(First Time Ever in RoH)
Austin Aries pinned Davey Richards after a top-rope DDT in 0:11:50.
Rating: *** 1/2

Match Recap- Davey Richards is on the rise here in RoH, Austin Aries
not only has to prove himself in the tag division w/ Roderick Strong,
but he proved himself worthy tonight in this 1v1 match. He had the
upperhand during the whole match, and ended it after a dropkick to the
knee---leading to a top-rope DDT. The two shook hands after the match.
==========

(Tag Team Dream Match)
Kenta Kobashi and Ricky Reyes defeated
The Briscoe Brothers (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe) when R. Reyes made
J. Briscoe submit to the Dragon Sleeper in 0:13:19.
Rating: *** 3/4

Match Recap- RoH is all about making dream matches possible, and tonight
another dream match was added to the list. KENTA and Ricky Reyes
made their way through the match, barely pulling off the win after
KENTA saved the Dragon Sleeper from being broke up by Mark Briscoe.
Jay, was inches away from the ropes, but with one last pull
of the neck, Ricky Reyes managed to get the submission off.
==========

(One-on-one)
Samoa Joe defeated Roderick Strong when Roderick Strong passed out in the
Kokina Clutch in 0:14:06.
Rating: *** 1/4

Match Recap- Roderick Strong is one half of the tag team champions in RoH,
but just fell short of winning this match here tonight. Samoa Joe
is one of the, if not THE most dominant wrestler in the world today.
He has beaten the greats, and the legends. Undefeated in TNA, and
looking to pull off a winning streak here in RoH. Good start to the streak
here when he made Roderick Strong submit to the Kokina Clutch after 40 seconds
of writhing pain.
==========

(Special Challenge Match)
Nigel McGuinness made Christopher Daniels submit to the Thames Barrier in
0:41:06.
Rating: **** 1/4

Main Event Recap- Another perfect ending produced by Chris Daniels and
Nigel McGuinness. This lengthly match was a back and fourth wrestlefest
where you could not predict the ending until it actually came. McGuinness
locked Daniels into the Thames Barrier multiple times, but it was near
the ropes and Daniels broke them within seconds. Daniels hit the BME
at the 30 minute mark, and McGuinness kicked out at the 2.75 count, and
had the momentum since then. Trying to escape every situation that
would put Daniels in the Thames Barrier, but Daniels fell into the trap
in the middle of the ring. There was no escaping it, and ended the
match after a submission.

Larry Sweeney is the self-proclaimed ICW/ICWA Tex-Arkana Television Champion. The last time he defended the title was at a CHIKARA show on 6/25/2006 against Eddie Kingston where he retained it after a DQ. Now, for the first time ever, CHIKARA will appear on RoH wrestling and for the only singles title defended in CHIKARA. Will Shane Storm pull off a win and become the next ICW/ICWA Tex-Arkana Television Champion?
