GWA Fallout - 09/18/2005

AzraelPosted on 09/04/06 at 04:12:18

Venue: Arrowhead Pond
Location: Anaheim, CA

(Fireworks go off as the third GWA pay-per-view, Fallout, begins! The camera pans the crowd for a little, then cuts to Tully Blanchard's desk.)

TB: This is an important time for the GWA. Tonight, Kurt Angle will defend the North American Title against Taz. Chris Benoit and Ken Shamrock will defend the Tag Team Titles against AJ Styles and Christian. The Amazing Red defends the Cruiserweight Title against CIMA. Edge defends the T.V. Title against Rhyno. And in order to make sure all these matches and more go smoothly, there's a few stipulations I'm going to make. First, no member of the Dynasty can interfere in a match involving another member of the Dynasty or they'll receive a very lengthy suspension. Two, Doug Williams will be at ringside for the Kurt Angle/Taz match to ensure that nothing happens and the match is decided by the men in the ring. Three, Jerry Lynn, I want you nowhere near the ring tonight. So you'll have an accompanyment all night long. With that said, I hope all of you enjoy Fallout.

(The camera cuts to Quiet Storm and Tajiri getting ready for their match later. Trinity is absent. Kanyon walks in.)

Kanyon: Look, you two don't need to go out there tonight. It's crazy.

QS: I have to do this for me. And Tajiri has to do for himself. Plus we have to avenge Trinity. We have to show Mexico's Most Wanted that they can't walk all over us.

Kanyon: But they're animals! They're killers! Look what they did the last time you all were scheduled in a match. That's why you're the way you are now!

QS: The end result, whether we win or lose, doesn't matter. What's important to me...and what I think is important to Tajiri...is that I tried.

(Kanyon looks at Tajiri for backup, but Tajiri nods at what Quiet Storm said.)

Kanyon: Don't say I didn't try to help you guys out. But I guess you'll see the hard way that I was right.

(Quiet Stom ignores him and goes back to tying his boots. Kanyon throws up his hands and leaves. The camera then goes to the ring for the first match.)

("Simple Man" by the Grouch plays as Elix Skipper walks to the ring. He looks extremely confident about this match and he has found success after being kicked out of Triple X by Christopher Daniels. The grudge, however, between him and Daniels has remained and led to this match.

"Head Like a Hole" by Nine Inch Nails plays as Christopher Daniels walks down the aisle, with his head down and hooded. He steps on the apron and takes off the hood, then throws his cloak off and to the floor. He enters the ring and goes face to face with Skipper.)

[Elix Skipper vs. Christopher Daniels]

They lock up and Daniels puts Skipper in a headlock and takes him down to the mat. He taunts Skipper and wrenches back in the headlock, but Skipper gets him in headscissors to break it. Daniels squirms free and stomps Skipper in the head. Skipper gets up slowly and Daniels whips him in the ropes, hitting him with a leg lariat. He makes the cover, but Skipper kicks out at two. Daniels brings Skipper to his feet again, but Skipper fires off a series of punches to knock Daniels back. He knocks him down with a lariat, but Daniels pops back up to his feet. Skipper immediately scores with a spin kick and covers, hooking the leg. Daniels is able to kick out at two though. Skipper brings Daniels to his feet, but Daniels staggers him with a jawbreaker. Daniels gets up quickly and hits an STO. Daniels takes time to shake off the effects of Skipper's attacks and then brings Skipper up, slamming him back down to the mat. Daniels moves to the corner and hops up the turnbuckles, jumping backward with the Best Moonsault Ever. Skipper manages to roll out of the way and Daniels hits the mat hard. Sensing an opening, Skipper scrambles to his feet and goes for the Play of the Day. Skipper makes the windup, but Daniels escapes before Skipper can hit the move. Daniels hits Skipper hard in the back with a forearm and then brings him down with the Blue Thunder Bomb! He holds it for the pin attempt, but Skipper gets a shoulder up. Daniels brings Skipper to his knees and pelts him with a few kneesmashes. He brings him to his feet and calls for the Angel's Wings, but Skipper staggers him with a forearm. He whips Daniels into the ropes and jumps high in the air to knock him down with a flying clothesline. Daniels gets up slowly and Skipper grabs him and hits a Northern Lights suplex for a near fall. Both men get up and Daniels tries to hit a punch, but Skipper blocks and hits a series of his own. Skipper tries to finish it with a lariat, but Daniels ducks under and quickly takes him down with a legsweep faceslam. Skipper holds his face and Daniels brings him to his feet. He goes for the Last Rites, but Skipper blocks it in mid-move and shoves him into the turnbuckle. Daniels staggers back and Skipper rolls him up in an inside cradle for a near fall. Daniels pops to his feet, but Skipper rolls him up in a small package for two before Daniels rolls Skipper onto his shoulders. Skipper kicks out at two and both men get to their feet. Skipper whips Daniels into the ropes and lowers his head for a backdrop, but Daniels catches him with a sunset flip for two. Skipper gets to his feet and rolls Daniels up with a double leg cradle for another near fall. Both men get up and Daniels runs at Skipper with a lariat. Skipper ducks under and grabs Daniels from behind, but Daniels immediately counters with a go-behind of his own. Daniels tries to lift Skipper for a German suplex, but Skipper blocks it and goes behind Daniels again. Skipper then runs them both into the ropes and then rolls back, catching Daniels with a rolling reverse cradle. He bridges back and manages to hold Daniels down for three!

Elix Skipper pinned Christopher Daniels after a rolling reverse cradle into a bridge in 0:09:13.
Rating: *** 1/2

Skipper gets up and slumps into the ropes celebrating his victory, while Daniels holds his head in hands, unable to believe what happened. Skipper does a fist pump, but Daniels attacks him from behind and knocks him into the corner. He follows with a series of forearms to the back and pulls him toward the center of the ring, hooking both arms. He lifts him up and drives him into the mat with the Angel's Wings, then calls for a mic.

CD: Elix, do not for a second think that this is over! You may have gotten lucky tonight, but in the end, I'll show you why I am on a completely different level than you.

He throws the mic down on Elix and leaves the ring, walking up the aisle angrily.

(Skipper is helped to the back and we're ready for the next match. "Blue Flowers" by Dr. Octagon plays as Quiet Storm and Tajiri walk slowly to the ring. They've been the recipients of a number of brutal attacks by their opponents tonight, Mexico's Most Wanted, in recent weeks. In fact, Trinity still has yet to recover from a brutal chair shot she received from Halloween. Quiet Storm has vowed to get revenge, but it remains to be seen whether they're in shape to do it.

"Chinga Tu Madre" by Brujeria then plays as Mexico's Most Wanted walks down to the ring with Jake Roberts behind them. In their latest attempt to make their mark on the wrestling world, they have set upon brutalizing Storm and Tajiri at every opportunity, including Damien diving off the ramp to drive Tajiri through a table. Blanchard set up this match, but it's unclear whether this punishes Mexico's Most Wanted or Quiet Storm and Tajiri.)

[Quiet Storm and Tajiri vs. Mexico's Most Wanted (w/Jake Roberts)]

Storm rushes at Damien to start with with a series of forearms, while Tajiri gets Halloween in the corner and peppers him with chops. Damien starts to try to cover up, but Storm hits him with a headbutt to stagger him. Storm and Tajiri try to whip Halloween and Damien 666 into each other, but Halloween reverses his whip, allowing Damien to steamroll Tajiri with a lariat. Tajiri lands hard and Halloween immediately hits Storm with a spinning leg lariat. Damien throws Tajiri over the top and to the floor, where he lands awkwardly. He leaves the ring and Halloween brings Storm up and lifts him up, driving him hard to the mat with a spinebuster. Damien comes back in the ring as Halloween climbs to the top. Damien slams Storm down and Halloween follows with a flying legdrop. Halloween covers, but pulls Storm up after two. Damien laughs and Halloween tosses Storm to him. Damien hits Storm with an inverted atomic drop as Halloween bounces off the ropes. Halloween then blasts Storm in the face with a jumping side kick. Halloween makes another cover, but is apparently still not satisfied and lifts Storm's shoulders again. He then puts Storm in a pendulum submission as Damien climbs to the top rope. Damien then dives off the top and hits Storm in the back of the head with a flying elbowdrop to complete the Armed Robbery. Halloween drops Storm who slumps to the mat and doesn't move. Halloween leaves to stomp on Tajiri as Damien makes the cover and gets three.

Mexico's Most Wanted defeated Quiet Storm and Tajiri when Damien 666 pinned Quiet Storm after the Armed Robbery in 0:06:08.
Rating: ** 3/4

Quiet Storm and Tajiri were simply in no shape to wrestle a match today, let alone one against two men as punishing as Mexico's Most Wanted. Roberts calls off Halloween and Damien and leads them to the back, but the camera shows how Quiet Storm and Tajiri ended up. Quiet Storm is sprawled on the mat, while Tajiri is on the floor with his neck crooked against the guardrail.

(We cut to the back where Adam Bramledge is interviewing Jerry Lynn. There's a security escort at Lynn's side.)

AB: Jerry Lynn, how do you feel about not being able to confront CIMA tonight?

JL: It's completely wrong! All actions have consequences. CIMA tried to take away my livelihood, and he's got to...

(Lynn is interrupted by CIMA, who runs in and blasts him with a palm blow, sending Lynn flying. The escort tries to stop CIMA, but gets a palm blow for his trouble too. CIMA then picks up a chair and waits for the escort to get up. He lifts it over his head and slams it into the escort's back. He goes down as Lynn struggles to his feet. CIMA measures him and then dents the chair over Lynn's head! Lynn falls down in a heap as CIMA smiles, drops the chair and walks off. It seems that CIMA wanted to ensure that Lynn wouldn't be able to do anything tonight on top of the sanctions started by Tully Blanchard.)

(The camera then cuts to the ring. "Raining Blood" by Slayer plays as Rhyno runs down the aisle and slides into the ring. He shakes the ropes repeatedly and then runs the ropes as he waits for his opponent. Edge has infuriated Rhyno at every corner in the GWA, consistently cheating to beat him. It looked like Rhyno had the advantage at WrestleFest, but Edge kicked him in the crotch to take the DQ loss and keep his title. It's unlikely that that will work this time though.

"Ticks & Leeches" by Tool then plays as Edge walks out with the TV Title over his shoulder. He walks down the aisle, pointing at all the fans while Rhyno stares a hole in him. Edge won the TV Title by winning the TV Title Tournament back in May and has beaten every contender for his title since then. But now, Rhyno is angrier and more focused than ever before. Can he do it again? He enters the ring and gives the title to the referee, who holds it up. The bell then rings.)

[Rhyno vs. Edge]

Edge immediately runs at Rhyno and hits him with a series of punches to start things out. Rhyno takes control with a kneesmash and whips him into the ropes, but Edge holds on and slides out of the ring. Edge starts to walk around the ring for a breather, but Rhyno charges and slides out of the ring to the floor. Edge immediately reenters the ring and taunts Rhyno. Rhyno slaps the mat and rolls in the ring, but Edge stomps him in the head and then runs out of the ring again. Rhyno rolls back out of the ring and chases Edge around the ring, but can't catch him. Edge slides back in before the 10 count and Rhyno follows him. Edge drops a double-axhandle to the back of Rhyno's head as he enters. He tries to keep up the pressure, but Rhyno gets up and shoves Edge aside. He clubs Edge repeatedly and whips him into the corner. He charges in at full speed with an avalanche, but Edge moves out of the way. Rhyno hits the corner hard and staggers back, allowing Edge to hit Rhyno with a back suplex. He makes a cover, but Rhyno gets a shoulder up at two. Edge brings Rhyno up and shoves him in the corner, hitting him with a series of punches and kicks. He stops to laugh at Rhyno and spits in his face, but that just wakes Rhyno up. Rhyno grabs Edge by the head and throws him into the corner, then starts pelting him with a series of shoulderblocks to the stomach. He whips Edge to the other corner and follows in with a lariat to knock the wind out of Edge. He then grabs Edge by the air and tosses him over the top rope and to the floor. Rhyno leaves the ring and brings Edge to his feet, smacking him in the head with a right hand. He rams Edge's head into the guardrail a couple times and reenters the ring to break the count while Edge tries to regain his bearings.

Rhyno goes back to the outside and tosses Edge into the ringsteps. Edge rolls around slowly in pain and Rhyno lifts him up, then charges forward, smashing Edge's back against the ringpost! Edge screams in agony and then Rhyno jerks him to the side, driving his arm hard into the unforgiving steel! Edge goes down immediately, clutching his arm and Rhyno goes back in the ring to break the count. He comes back to the outside and waits for Edge to stand. He charges and goes for the Gore, but Edge manages to move out of the way, sending Rhyno careening into the steps! Edge slowly gets his footing and rolls in the ring, clutching his arm the entire time. The ref starts to count Rhyno out, but Rhyno gets to his knees and shakes off the cobwebs. Rhyno gets to his feet and stumbles a few times before reentering the ring. Edge walks over and hits him with some stomps, but Rhyno powers through them to reach his feet. Rhyno hits Edge with a punch to the face, but Edge pokes him in the eye and kicks him in the stomach to double him over. He goes for the Edge-a-cution, but can't bring him up with his hurt arm. Edge backs away and tries to shake off the pain, but walks into a powerslam from Rhyno when he tries to attack again. Rhyno hooks the leg, but Edge gets a shoulder up for a near fall. Rhyno slams his hands on the mat repeatedly as Edge crawls to a corner. He tries to pull himself up with one arm, but Rhyno sees him and charges, ramming him with a kneesmash. He hits more kneesmashes and then brings Edge to his feet. He whips him into the ropes and lifts him up for a spinebuster, but Edge rakes him in the eyes to make Rhyno drop him. Edge moves to the corner to get a breather and Rhyno shakes off the pain and charges at him with an avalanche. Edge gets a foot up to stop him and Rhyno staggers back, but doesn't fall. As soon as Rhyno recovers, he charges in again, but Edge gets another foot up to stop him. Rhyno steps a few steps back and drops to a knee. Edge, sensing an opening, grabs onto the ropes with his good arm and propels himself forward, hitting Rhyno with a spear! Unfortunately, he hits the spear with the bad arm and rolls around in pain, holding it. He drags himself over to Rhyno and hooks a leg. Rhyno kicks out, but just after the ref counts three.

Edge pinned Rhyno after a spear in 0:10:46.
Edge suffered an elbow injury. He will be out for approximately 1 month.
Rating: *** 1/2
(Edge retained the GWA T.V. Title.)

Edge rolls out of the ring and painfully stands on the outside of the ring as Rhyno slams the mat repeatedly in frustration that he lost again. Edge retained his title, but from the way he's clutching his arm, it remains to be seen if he'll be able to wrestle at a high level any time soon. Edge walks over and picks up the TV Title, then heads to the back while Rhyno screams at him to return to the ring.

The camera cuts to a dressing room in the back where a bloodied Lance Storm is on the ground, clutching his ribs in pain. A dented chair is laying next to him. He tries to reach his feet, but can't get up. Help comes in soon as the GWA medical staff check on him. They try to lift him up though and he screams in pain. The camera pans up from Storm and turns to the door, where we see Steve Corino standing, looking down at Storm. He shakes his head and walks off.

(The camera cuts to the ring and "Tell Me Why" by Paul Van Dyk plays as Liquid Sticks dance their way down the aisle to boos. They've spent a lot time over the past couple months interfering in matches, which has led to this Scramble match to try and clear up the tag team picture. They enter the ring and stand on the ropes, daring their opponents to come down.

"Bulls on Parade" by Rage Against the Machine plays as the Havana Pitbulls walk down to the ring, raising their arms to the crowd. Reyes enters the ring as Romero hits on a woman in the front row. They came close to winning the Tag Team Titles a couple weeks ago, but fell after a hard fought battle. Will this be their time?

"At the Helm" by Hieroglyphics plays as the Spanish Announce Team walk to the entryway. They slap hands and walk down the aisle. They've been the team that have had the most problems with Liquid Sticks in the GWA, with Deranged and Spanky interfering in several of their matches and pulling out wins through cheating. They're definitely going to be looking to get some measure of revenge.

"Lounge Act" by Nirvana plays as the Young Lions runs down the aisle and slap the hands of fans. They have been in the GWA the longest out of these teams and have come close to taking the titles before. A win here can catapult them to the top of the tag team rankings.)

[Liquid Sticks vs. The Havana Pitbulls vs. The Spanish Announce Team vs. The Young Lions]

Deranged and York start out. They start to lock up, but Deranged backs away and mocks York, but York immediately knocks him down with a forearm. Deranged gets to his feet and York whips him into the ropes, knocking him down with a dropkick. Deranged gets up wobbily and York goes behind and tries to lift him up for a German suplex, but Deranged blocks it and rolls him up with a Victory Roll. York kicks out at two and both men get up, but Deranged immediately darts out of the ring. Joel comes in and hits York from behind with a double axhandle. He stomps on York for a bit and runs into the ropes, but Deranged pulls down the top rope, sending him to the floor! Deranged laughs at Joel as Romero enters the ring and tosses York to the floor. He then grabs Deranged by the hair and pulls him into the ring! Deranged gets up and begs off, but Romero kicks him repeatedly in the chest before whipping him into the ropes. Deranged grabs onto the ropes and tags in Matthews. The two men lock up and Romero puts Matthews into an armbar. He tries to force him down to the mat for a Fujiwara armbar, but Matthews fights his way out of it. Romero lets go of the arm and Matthews sweeps him to the mat. He makes a cover and gets one, then both men get up. Romero sweeps Matthews to the mat and makes a cover and gets one. Both men get up again and Matthews armdrags Romero to the mat, sending him sliding out of the ring. Spanky runs in and hits a leg lariat on Matthews to rock him. He hits a few stomps and then runs into the ropes, but Matthews takes him down with a hiptoss. York enters the ring and the Young Lions hit Spanky with a double dropkick to send him flying. Spanky slowly gets to his feet and Matthews whips him into the ropes. They both hiptoss Spanky and catch him. They lift him up for a power bomb-like move, but Jose comes in wih a flying dropkick on Matthews! Spanky and York fall out of the ring and Jose makes the cover for a near fall. He brings Matthews to his feet and whips him into the ropes, jumping in the air for a Frankensteiner, but Matthews catches him and drops him with a power bomb! He folds Jose over for the pin attempt, but Reyes comes in and breaks the pin. Reyes tosses Matthews over the top rope and focuses on Jose. Matthews tries to get back up and reach the apron, but Mexico's Most Wanted comes down the aisle and attacks him! Matthews tries to fight back but is clearly in a losing battle until York comes over to even the scales. The two teams battle to the back as the action continues in the ring.

Inside, Reyes puts Jose on the turnbuckle and climbs to the top rope. He tries to bring him down with a superplex, but Jose manages to block it. Joel enters the ring and hits Reyes with a dropkick to knock him out of the ring, but Jose falls out with him. Deranged enters the ring and knocks Joel to the outside with a double knee to the back and Spanky enters to replace him. The two men circle around each other and lock up. They go through some extremely slow chain wrestling and break off. Deranged makes a big windup and throws a punch at Spanky. Spanky goes down like he's been shot even though Deranged is 20 feet away. Deranged runs over and makes the cover, but Romero pulls him off. Deranged and Spanky take the opportunity to doubleteam Romero, bludgeoning him with a series of forearms and stomps. They whip Romero into the corner and Deranged follows in with a double knee. Romero staggers out and Spanky puts him down with a leg lariat. Spanky covers as Deranged leaves the ring, but Romero gets a shoulder up. Spanky runs into the ropes again, but Joel enters the ring and throws him in the air with a flapjack. Spanky rolls out of the ring and Joel climbs to the top rope, but Romero gets to his feet and cuts him off. Romero crotches him on the top rope, but Deranged throws him out of the ring. Deranged hits Joel with a forearm and tries to bring him down to the mat, but Jose comes in from behind and takes him down with a reverse neckbreaker. Jose then backs away and charges into the corner, jumping onto the turnbuckle. Joel lifts him in the air with a flapjack, making Jose land on Deranged! Jose hooks the leg, but Romero pulls him out of the ring and to the floor.

Deranged slowly rolls out of the ring as Reyes enters the ring and hits Joel with a hard right hand. He climbs to the top rope and lifts him up, driving him down to the mat with the Top-Rope Brain Buster! Joel bounces up to a seated position but slumps over. Reyes makes the cover, but Spanky breaks it with a legdrop. He hits Reyes with a couple shots to the head, then grabs him and runs to the corner, hitting Reyes with the Sliced Bread #2! Spanky gets to his feet and Romero immediately knocks him down with a high knee. Spanky scrambles to his feet and Romero whips him into the ropes, knocking him down with a lariat. He makes a cover, but Jose breaks the pin. He brings Romero to his feet and takes him down with a snap suplex. He tries to follow up, but Spanky cuts him off and hits him with a ganmengiri. Jose goes down holding his face, but Romero stops him from taking advantage. Romero kicks Spanky in the stomach and goes for a kneelift, but Spanky avoids it. Romero turns around and Spanky kicks him in the stomach and drops him with a DDT, the force of which pops Romero back up to his feet. Spanky runs into the ropes and jumps at Romero for a flying forearm, but Romero drops to the mat and curls into a ball to avoid it. However, Jose was trying to hit Romero with a dropkick at the same time and hits Spanky instead, sending him flying from the ring. Jose turns to Romero, who's still curled in a ball with a hand sticking up from between his legs, and scratches his head. He grabs Romero's hand and Romero immediately pulls him down, stretching him with the Romero Special #2! Jose tries to get free, but he can't and there's no one left standing to save him. After a few more seconds, Jose taps out.

Scramble Match:
The Havana Pitbulls defeated The Young Lions, The Spanish Announce Team and Liquid Sticks when Romero made Jose submit to the Romero Special #2 in 0:13:30.
Rating: *** 1/2
[Halloween interfered against Christian York.]
[Damien 666 interfered against Joey Matthews.]

The Havana Pitbulls have won! Romero immediately releases the hold and gets to his feet, raising his arms in the air. Deranged and Spanky gather themselves and leave the ringside area, saying unflattering things about the female family members of the opposing teams and of Cubans in general. Romero leaves the ring to check on Reyes and the camera quickly cuts to the back where Mexico's Most Wanted and the Young Lions are brawling in the ringside area.

Halloween doubles Matthews over with a kneesmash and then flips him over, throwing him backfirst into the wall. Matthews bounces off with a thud and lands on his face where Halloween keeps going to work. York and Damien trade punches, but Roberts attacks York from behind allowing Damien to catch him with a DDT on the arena floor! They try to do more damage, but GWA security comes in and breaks things up. Instead of fighting it, Roberts laughs and leads his team off.

(The camera cuts back to the ring. "The Hollow" by A Perfect Circle plays, but no one comes out. Lance Storm asked for this match a few weeks ago, but due to his attack, it doesn't look like he'll be able to come out here for it. It plays again, but abruptly stops as it's clear that Lance Storm isn't going to be able to make it tonight.

"Jesus Christ Pose" by Soundgarden plays as Chris Jericho walks out with a smile on his face. He taunts the fans as he walks down the aisle and steps through the ropes. He gets a mic and turns to the crowd, smiling again.)

(Jericho's interrupted by a familiar drum beat.)

CJ: What? What's he doing here?

("This...means...war!")

CJ: Goddammit! This is my night!

(The crowd explodes in cheers as the Rock runs down the aisle and Jericho throws a tantrum in the ring. The Rock steps through the ropes and the match is on!)

[Chris Jericho vs. The Rock]

Jericho begs off, but the Rock keeps walking and punches him repeatedly in the face. Jericho eventually falls to the mat, but picks himself up, allowing the Rock to whip him into the ropes and throw him to the mat with a waistlock suplex. The Rock waits for Jericho to reach his feet and comes toward him again, but Jericho gets in a poke to the eye to stagger him. Jericho then kicks the Rock in the stomach and follows with a kneelift. He points to his head and then drops an elbow on the Rock. He makes a lackadaisical cover, but the Rock gets a shoulder up at one. Jericho brings the Rock to his feet and forces him in the ropes, hitting an open hand slap. He whips the Rock into the ropes, but the Rock comes back with a jumping forearm to knock Jericho down. Jericho scrambles to his feet and the Rock keeps up the pressure, hitting Jericho with more right hands. He forces Jericho into the ropes and whips him across, but Jericho connects with a spinning leg lariat to take him down. He jumps on the Rock and pelts him with a flurry of punches. He makes the cover, but the Rock kicks out at two. Both men get up and Jericho rakes him in the eyes before taking him down with a vertical suplex. He puts a foot on the Rock's chest and poses, but the Rock gets out of the pin "attempt" at one. Jericho stomps on the Rock's head and runs into the ropes, but the Rock quickly gets up and knocks him down with a punch to the face. Jericho staggers up and the Rock knocks him back down with another right hand. Jericho struggles to get to his feet and the Rock grabs him by the hair and runs into the corner, smashing Jericho's head into the turnbuckle. Jericho flies backward and lands hard on his back. He starts to roll to his feet and the Rock charges in and nails him with a lariat. The Rock makes the cover, but Jericho gets a shoulder up in time. The Rock brings Jericho to his feet, but Jericho staggers him with a punch to the midsection. He follows it up with an enzuigiri to knock the Rock to the mat. Jericho is slow getting to his feet and runs into the ropes, catching the Rock with a flying forearm. He then runs into the ropes and jumps on the middle rope, flying back with the Lionsault. The Rock rolls out of the way though and Jericho lands on his feet. He stumbles back into the referee, who goes down. Jericho manages to regain his balance and points to his head, but the Rock kips up to his feet and hits Jericho with a series of punches, then kicks him in the midsection and delivers a DDT. He brings Jericho up and whips him into the ropes, lifting him up and driving him to the mat with a spinebuster! He stands over Jericho and kicks his arms in, throwing his elbowpad to the crowd. He runs into the ropes and hops over Jericho, then bounces off the ropes again, but Steve Corino slides into the ring and levels him with a lariat! The Rock lies motionless on the mat as Jericho slowly starts to stand. He looks down at the Rock and then runs into the ropes, jumps off the middle rope and hits the Lionsault! He hooks the leg as Corino slaps the referee to wake him up and shoves him toward the two men. The ref slowly makes the count and Jericho gets three.

Chris Jericho pinned Rocky Maivia after the Lionsault in 0:10:34.
Rating: ***
(Lance Storm no-showed.)
[Steve Corino interfered against Rocky Maivia.]

Chris Jericho has stolen one from the Rock with the help of Steve Corino. Corino claps and heads to the back as Jericho gets on the turnbuckle and acts like he won an Oscar. The Rock starts to stir though, making Jericho dart out of the ring. He makes his way up the aisle, taunting the fans by pointing to his head. The Rock gets to a knee and winces in pain from the match.

The camera then cuts to Taz in the back. Taz is taping up his wrists as he looks up.

Taz: Tonight's the night Kurt. Tonight is the night that you can't run anymore. You can't hide behind your taunts. You call me a fighter. You call me scum. But what happens when we step in the ring? What happens when you find yourself face to face with the One Man Crime Spree? I'll tell you what happens: pain. Angle, for all your skill, you can't stand up in a fight with someone who was born fighting. And that's what this match will be: a fight. And I'll always think my chances are good in any fight. Don't bring any illusions into this. This is not a Greco Roman showcase. This is not a highly structured event. This is a brawl, with no rules...no concepts but one. Beat me if you can Kurt...survive if I let you.

(The camera cuts to the ring, where "Yatahaze" by dredg plays as CIMA walks to the entryway. He looks over the crowd and smirks before walking down the aisle. CIMA's left a trail of bodies behind him so far in the GWA, but his one pinfall loss came at the hands of his opponent tonight, the Amazing Red. Since that night however, CIMA has picked up convincing victories over legends such as Ultimo Dragon and Rey Misterio Jr. CIMA steps through the ropes and stretches his neck as he waits for the champion.

"Edge of the Earth" by 30 Seconds to Mars then plays as the Amazing Red runs out with the Cruiserweight Title around his waist. Red has had issues with CIMA since CIMA dropped an already unconscious Rey Misterio Jr. with the Schwein, sending him out of the GWA. Red's trying to payback CIMA for what he did, but it remains to be seen whether Red can beat CIMA again.)

[CIMA vs. The Amazing Red]

CIMA and Red begin the match by staring each other down. Red says something unintelligible to CIMA, but CIMA looks at him impassively in response. Red smiles, then hits CIMA with a couple forearms to force CIMA back into the ropes. Red whips him in, but CIMA comes back with a flying clothesline. Red quickly drops to the mat to avoid it. Both men get up and Red snaps CIMA down with an armdrag. CIMA gets up and scores with an armdrag of his own. Red rolls to his feet and charges in, but CIMA sweeps his legs and makes a cover for one. Red gets up and sweeps CIMA, then winds up for the Red Star Press, but CIMA immediately rolls out of the ring. CIMA stands up on the outside and Red charges to dive at him, but CIMA walks around the ring. Red immediately puts on the brakes and goes back to the center of the ring. CIMA reenters the ring and they circle each other. CIMA hits Red with a chop, staggering Red, but Red comes back with a chop of his own. They trade chops until CIMA stops it with a knee to the stomach and knocks him down with a headbutt. Red starts to sit up, holding his head, but CIMA kicks him hard in the head. He makes the cover, but Red kicks out at two. CIMA brings Red to his feet and whips him into the corner. He follows in with a palm blow, but Red gets his feet up to knock CIMA down. Red brings CIMA to his feet and hits him with a chop, then kicks him hard across the chest. He follows that with a spin kick to knock CIMA down. He makes a cover but gets two. Both men reach their feet and Red whips CIMA into the ropes, driving him down to the mat with a powerslam. He hooks the leg, but CIMA still kicks out at two. Red jumps to the top rope as CIMA gets up and then jumps off to hit a Frankensteiner, but CIMA manages to catch him. He walks around a few steps and then falls back, sending Red throat-first onto the top rope! Red falls to the mat and CIMA gets up and runs into the ropes, hitting Red with a double foot stomp. He quickly runs into the ropes again and smacks him with a sliding dropkick as Red is reeling from the first attack. He makes the cover, hooking both legs, but Red kicks out for the near fall.

CIMA brings Red up to his knees and hammers with a couple headbutts to knock him back to the mat. Red struggles to get to his feet and CIMA pulls him up and whips him into the ropes. Red ducks under a lariat and manages to score with a flying forearm. Red gets up slowly, allowing CIMA to reach his feet as well. CIMA turns to Red, who hits him with an open-hand slap to the chest, then a slap to the head and a backfist. He goes for a spinning enzuigiri, but CIMA manages to duck under it. Red gets up slowly and CIMA grabs him, driving him to the mat with a Russian legsweep. He makes the cover, but Red kicks out at two. CIMA brings Red to his feet again and chops him in the chest to force him in the corner. He whips Red into the other corner and follows in with a dropkick that makes Red fall forward out of the corner. CIMA quickly walks over to Red and sits down, applying a camel clutch. Red tries to get free, but CIMA cinches it in. Red can't move closer to the ropes, so he focuses on pulling CIMA's hands apart. He starts to succeed, but CIMA breaks the hold and stomps Red hard in the small of his back. Red rolls around in pain and CIMA brings him to his feet, hitting him in the back with a forearm. He spins Red around and whips him into the ropes, connecting with a dropkick. He then sits Red up and pelts him with a series of soccer kicks to the back. He pushes Red down on his back with his foot and then hits a legdrop. He makes the cover, but Red gets a shoulder up for a near fall. CIMA brings Red up again and whips him into the ropes. He tries to hit him with a palm blow, but Red grabs hold of his arm and gets him down with a crucifix. The ref makes the count, but CIMA kicks out for a near fall. Red struggles to get up, but CIMA gets up first and knocks him down with another dropkick. Red rolls through and stumbles on his feet, allowing CIMA to run and hit him with a forearm and whip him into the ropes. He goes for a jumping elbow thrust, but Red holds onto the ropes so that CIMA crashes on the mat. He gets up slowly, allowing Red to run at him and bring him down with the Code Red! CIMA lies motionless, but Red clutches his back in pain from the desperation move and he can't take advantage.

Both men get up slowly and face each other. Red slaps CIMA hard in the chest and repeats it, then makes the windup for the spinning enzuigiri. He throws it, but CIMA puts up an arm to block it! CIMA staggers back, shaking off the pain in his wrist as Red gets back to his feet. CIMA walks back and hits Red with a chop, but Red responds with a kick to the thigh. CIMA stumbles a little in pain, allowing Red to keep kicking him in the thigh. Eventually CIMA goes down to one knee and Red jumps in the air and pops him with an enzuigiri! CIMA crumples to the mat and Red rolls him over before climbing to the top rope. He jumps backward and executes the Infra Red, but CIMA rolls out of the way! Red lands on the mat hard and CIMA covers him, hooking the leg, but Red kicks out in time! CIMA pauses to take a few breaths before bringing Red to his feet and whips him into the corner. He charges in and pops him with a palm blow, the impact of which sends Red high into the air and crashing to the mat. CIMA lifts Red and puts him on the turnbuckle. He takes a couple steps back and charges forward, jumping to pop Red in the face with the Venus. Red starts to lean back, so CIMA grabs him and pulls him forward, putting his hands underneath Red's armpits. He lifts Red up and brings him down to the mat with the Iconoclasm! CIMA stays on his knees for a couple seconds, then gets up and climbs to the top rope. He looks out to the crowd, then jumps with the Mad Splash. However, Red gets his knees up, making CIMA roll around in pain! CIMA rolls onto his stomach and tries to get up, but can't. Red struggles to his feet as well and walks over to CIMA, rolling him up in a Magistral cradle. Red tries to hold him down, but CIMA manages to kick out for the near fall. Both men are exhausted and don't move for a few seconds, finally starting to stir to beat the ref's count. Red hits CIMA with a weak kick and tries to lift him for a suplex, but CIMA blocks it. CIMA tries to hit a suplex of his own, but Red fights his way out and brings him down with a DDT! He makes the cover, but CIMA gets a shoulder up for the near fall. Red thinks he won the match and argues with the ref for a couple seconds before climbing to the top rope. He waits for CIMA to get up and jumps off the top for some sort of attack, but CIMA catches him in midair and hits a sitdown jawbreaker to stun Red. CIMA then gets to his feet and wipes Red out with a superkick. He's in no position to make a quick cover though and starts to climb to the top rope when Jerry Lynn, with a bandaged head, runs down the aisle! Lynn tries to shove CIMA off the top, but CIMA sees him first and hops down. Security runs to the ring and pulls Lynn off the apron, but not before he can spit at CIMA. Enraged, CIMA reaches out of the middle rope to try and get ahold of Lynn. Red, meanwhile, slowly reaches his feet and bounces into the ropes, hitting CIMA with the 718 (619)! CIMA flies backward and rolls backward before stopping on his back. Red runs over to him and hits the Red Star Press! He hooks both legs and holds him for the three count!

(The Amazing Red retained the GWA Cruiserweight Title.)
[Jerry Lynn interfered against CIMA.]

The Amazing Red has done it! He has pinned CIMA to retain the Cruiserweight Title, even though Jerry Lynn did get in a distraction toward the end. Red gets to his feet and stretches on the ropes, saying "That was for you Rey" over and over. He gets the Cruiserweight Title and straps it around his waist, then raises his arms in the air. The security manage to pull Lynn to the back, but Lynn has a huge smile on his face because CIMA lost. CIMA, on his part, slowly gets to his feet as Red's celebrating. Red finally notices him and they go eye-to-eye. After a few seconds though, CIMA points to the Cruiserweight Title, then backs away, leaving the ring and heading to the back. Red won tonight, but CIMA will definitely get another chance at the title.

The camera cuts to the parking lot, where Steve Corino has his gear packed up and is walking to his car. Adam Bramledge runs after him and stops him.

AB: Steve! Steve!

SC: What do you want?

AB: Do you have some sort of alliance with Chris Jericho?

SC: What are you talking about?

AB: Well, first you attacked Lance Storm making him unable to compete tonight. And then, you interfered and attacked the Rock, costing him the match against Jericho.

SC: Don't get ahead of yourself. I had nothing to do with what happened to Storm. But Rock, yeah, I'll take full responsibility for that. You see Rock, the King of Old School Steve Corino is sick of people like you. I'm sick and tired of people with huge egos thinking that they can do wrestling as a side thing. Wrestling is a lifetime pursuit...it's the most beautiful thing in the world, the Sport of Kings. What it is not though, is Plan B. Rock, you tried to be a football player and you bombed out of that. So you think your dad was a wrestler, your grandfather was a wrestler, why not me? So you train a little and you get hot at the right time, and soon enough your name is everywhere. But you let the success get to your head Rock. Because the first chance you could, you ditched wrestling and went to try and be a movie star. There's been no sign of you for a month Rock and you think you can just come back on a whim and upstage all the people who've fought hard all these weeks to get here? You think you can be the talk of the show? Do you think you're better...than me? Well rest assured Rock, over the coming weeks, I'll show you why wrestling is not something you can turn on and off, and in the end, I know that you'll refer to me...as God.

(Corino slings his bag over his shoulder and walks to his car as the camera cuts back to the ring.)

("God Hates a Coward" by Tomahawk plays as AJ Styles and Christian walk to the ring. They've been petitioning for a title shot for some time now, as they believe that Benoit and Shamrock have gotten lucky the first two times they met. They actually received the #1 contendership by beating the Young Lions and the SAT at WrestleFest. They certainly believe that the third time will be the charm.

"Whatever" by Our Lady Peace then plays as the tag team champions, Chris Benoit and Ken Shamrock walk down the aisle. Shamrock looks at the ground, punching himself in the head every few steps, while Benoit stretches his wrists. Shamrock and Benoit won the titles by beating Styles and Christian in the finals of the Tag Team Title Tournament and have successfully defended them against every team they've faced so far. But no team seems to have gotten in their heads as much as Styles and Christian.)

[AJ Styles and Christian vs. Chris Benoit and Ken Shamrock]

Styles and Shamrock start out. They lock up, but Shamrock immediately breaks it to take Styles down with a single-leg takedown. He gets on top of Styles and starts to hit him with punches to the head, but Styles kicks him in the back of the head to knock him off. Both men get up and Styles connects with a forearm and whips Shamrock into the ropes. He drops to the mat as Shamrock runs over him, then hops up and pops Shamrock in the face with a perfect dropkick. Shamrock gets up holding his face, allowing Styles to get in a couple stomps, but Shamrock catches one of his boots and tries to lock in the Ankle Lock! Styles kicks his way free and rolls to the corner, where he tags in Christian. Shamrock gets to his corner and tags in Benoit. Benoit comes in and knocks Christian down with a running elbowsmash. Christian gets to his feet, but Benoit hits him with a chop to make him stumble into the ropes. Benoit whips him into the other side and then throws him high in the air with a flapjack. Christian rolls away and begs off, but Benoit advances anyway. However, Christian grabs him by the waist and slingshots him into the turnbuckle. Benoit slumps into the corner and Christian hits him from behind with a series of axhandles. He whips Benoit into the ropes and knocks him down a lariat. He brings up and tags in Styles. Christian slams Benoit to the mat and Styles follows up with a slingshot splash. He covers, but Benoit kicks out for the near fall. Styles brings Benoit to his feet and hits him with a couple kneesmashes to the stomach. He whips Benoit into the ropes and tries to hit a spin kick, but Benoit ducks under. Styles turns around and Benoit drags him to the mat with a lariat. Styles gets back up and Benoit knocks him down with a running elbowsmash. Styles gets up wobbly and Benoit charges again, but Styles immediately jumps in the air and knocks him down with a Pele kick. He gets up, holding his neck and hits Benoit with a couple stomps. Styles runs into the ropes and jumps up for a somersault splash, but Benoit moves out of the way. Styles rolls over in pain as Benoit starts to crawl to his corner. Benoit tags in Shamrock, who runs in and stomps Styles in the back of the head. He sits Styles up and batters him in the head with a series of punches until Styles falls back down. He brings Styles to his feet and whips him into the ropes, but Christian makes the blind tag. Shamrock grabs Styles by the waist and hits a takeover suplex to wipe him out. Shamrock starts to go for the Ankle Lock, but Christian takes him down with a chopblock!

Shamrock crumples to the mat holding his knee as Christian celebrates. Styles rolls out of the ring and Christian grabs Shamrock's leg and lifts it into the air, then drives it kneefirst onto the canvas. Shamrock screams and clutches his knee, which prompts Christian to slam his knee down once more onto the canvas. Christian taunts the crowd as Shamrock struggles to get up, but he swoops back in and takes him down with a swinging neckbreaker. Christian makes the cover, but Benoit breaks the pin. The ref leads Benoit out of the ring, allowing Christian to choke Shamrock without impunity. He lets go when the ref starts to turn around and tags in Styles. Styles comes in and immediately whips Shamrock into the ropes, driving him to the mat with a powerslam. He hooks the leg, but Shamrock gets a shoulder up. Styles stomps on Shamrock as he struggles to stand, but Shamrock powers through and tackles Styles to the mat! He hits a flurry of forearms before he gets tired and rolls off. He moves to tag in Benoit, but Christian enters the ring and races across to cut him off. However, Benoit hits him with a big right hand to knock him down first and Shamrock completes the tag. Benoit comes in and nails Styles with a lariat as Shamrock sends Christian out of the ring. He brings Styles to his feet and hits a backbreaker, then covers for two. Both men get up and Benoit hits Styles with a few chops, then grabs him for a snap suplex. Styles blocks it by holding onto the ropes and hits Benoit with a series of knees to the stomach to take advantage. He then lifts Benoit up and drives him down with a brain buster! Styles makes the cover, but Shamrock breaks the pin by grabbing his leg and applying the Ankle Lock! Styles screams in pain and looks like he's about the tap as the ref is trying to get Shamrock off. Christian comes in with a flying dropkick to knock Shamrock down and out of the ring. Christian drags Styles to the corner and leaves the ring, tagging himself in. He moves over to Benoit and brings him to his feet. He goes for the Unprettier, but Benoit shoves him into the corner. Christian staggers back and Benoit catches him with a German suplex! The ref counts, but Christian kicks out just in time. Both men are slow to get up and get to their feet at about the same time. They trade right hands for a bit, but Benoit catches one and tries to pull Christian into the Crippler Crossface! Christian manages to roll through and gets to his feet. He tries to surprise Benoit with a lariat, but Benoit ducks under and grabs him from behind, hitting a German suplex! He keeps his arms locked and hits another German...and another...and another. He gets up slowly as Christian lies motionless and makes a throat slash. He climbs to the top rope, but Styles tries to stop him. Shamrock runs over and pulls Styles to the floor and they start to brawl. Benoit then jumps off the top rope and clobbers Christian with a flying headbutt, the impact of which sends Benoit bouncing off of Christian and landing on his back on the mat.

Neither man moves and the ref is occupied by the melee outside and doesn't try to count them down. Christian stirs first as Benoit remains spread-eagled on the mat. He shakes his head to regain his bearings, then brings Benoit to his feet. Benoit can't stand straight up, so Christian grabs him and puts him in position for the Unprettier. He hits it and Benoit ends up facedown on the mat. Christian rolls Benoit over and covers as Styles holds Shamrock down and screams for the ref to pay attention. The ref turns around and counts to three.

AJ Styles and Christian defeated Chris Benoit and Ken Shamrock when Christian pinned Benoit with the Unprettier in 0:14:54.

(The Dynasty won the GWA Tag Team Titles.)

We have new champs! Christian gets up to his knees and celebrates while Styles raises his arms in victory on the outside. Shamrock reenters the ring, prompting Christian to leave and meet up with Styles. They get the titles from the timekeeper and put them around their waists. They celebrate as they backtrack up the ramp, pointing at their belts and laughing. On the inside, however, Shamrock tries to revive Benoit, but can't. The ref calls for the medical team to come out and a crowd of people run down the aisle. They check on Benoit and stabilize his neck, then load him onto a stretcher. They then gingerly take the stretcher out of the ring and to the back. Shamrock keeps talking to Benoit to try and get some sort of response, but gets nothing.

(The camera then cuts from that to Kurt Angle.)

KA: Tonight, Taz is going to find out what puts me ahead of everybody else. It can be summed up in three little words: intelligence...intensity...and integrity. With these three principles in mind, I trained myself to be the best. I've beaten the giants, I've beaten the movie stars, I've beaten the Cruiserweights, I won the gold medal with a broken neck. All because of those three words. You see Taz, if you live without structure, you'll never be the best. You do as you please, fight when you have to, always do enough to get by. But you'll never have the work ethic needed to overtake me. See someone like you would have to train maybe two or three times as hard as me just to approach me in the wrestling ring, and that is impossible. Maybe if we met in a dark alley, things would be different. Things would work in your favor. But we're not going to. We're meeting in the ring, my domain, and it simply isn't possible that you can beat me. And that...is true.

(The camera goes back to the ring. The lights dim and "Swamp Thing" by Juno Reactor plays as Taz walks to the entryway with a towel over his head.  The lights come back up and Taz deliberately walks down the aisle and enters the ring. He gets to the corner and hunches over waiting for Kurt Angle. These two have been feuding for a month, all hinging on Angle's belief that Taz will never beat him because he's not a "wrestler". Taz, for his part, has refuted this claim and looks to do so tonight, winning the North American Title in the process.

"Medal" then plays as Kurt Angle walks to the entryway, cradling the North American Title in his arms. He walks down the aisle holding it and smirks at Taz. He enters the ring and the referee comes to take the title, but Angle holds it up himself instead. He walks up to Taz and puts the belt in his face before handing it to the referee. The ref holds it up, but as he's moving to hand it to the attendant, Doug Williams walks from the back with a steel chair in hand. He sets it up at the top of the aisle and sits in it. Confident that Williams won't interfere, the ref starts the match.)

[Taz vs. Kurt Angle]

They lock up and Angle immediately puts him in a headlock. He takes Taz down with a headlock takedown and wrenches it in further. Taz rolls Angle onto his shoulders and gets two before Angle rolls back. Angle slaps Taz in the top of the head a couple times, but Taz rolls Angle back over. The ref counts to one, but Angle kicks out and rolls to his feet. Taz gets up too, but Angle immediately goes behind him and takes him down with a double-leg takedown. He floats over and locks in another headlock. He starts to taunt Taz loudly about how he'll never be a good enough wrestler, but Taz struggles to his feet. Angle tries to keep Taz grounded, but Taz hits him with forearms to the back and then lifts Angle up, dropping him with a back suplex. Angle gets up slowly and Taz runs at him, knocking him down with a lariat. Angle bounces back up and Taz knocks him back down with one more.  Angle struggles to get to his feet as Taz measures him. He charges once more, but Angle brings him down with a drop-toe hold, then floats over and puts him in a front facelock. Taz struggles to get to his feet and lift Angle up, but Angle blocks it and puts him in a hammerlock. He transitions into a headlock, but Taz brings Angle against the ropes and whips him across the ring. He throws him on his back with a huge backdrop and then pounds on his back with clubbing forearms. He tries to lift him up, but Angle counters with a small package that gets two before Taz kicks out. Both men get up and Angle pops him in the face with an elbow, and then hits a European uppercut to stagger him into the corner. Angle walks over and hits some more European uppercuts, but Taz responds with a headbutt that knocks Angle off his feet. Angle gets to his feet and Taz rocks him with some punches, then grabs him, throwing him down on the mat with a belly-to-belly suplex. He makes the cover, but Angle kicks out in time. He brings Angle to his feet and slams him to the mat. He then bounces off the ropes and drops an elbow on Angle. He makes another cover, but Angle gets his shoulder up. Taz brings Angle to his feet and whips him into the ropes, but then pulls him back and goes for a short clothesline. Angle ducks under and grabs Taz from behind, but Taz wildly swings an elbow to try to get free. Angle avoids it and regains his grip, throwing Taz to the mat with a waistlock suplex. Taz is stunned and Angle immediately makes the cover, but only gets two. Angle stomps Taz in the head and brings him to his feet, whipping him into the ropes and catches him in a sleeper as he comes back. Taz struggles to get free, but Angle keeps the hold locked in. Taz eventually hits a couple elbows to get free and tries to lift Angle up for a back suplex, but Angle turns in midair and lands on him. The ref counts to two before Taz kicks out.

Both men get up and lock up. Angle breaks it with a knee to the midsection and hooks both of Taz's arms. He goes for a double underhook suplex, but Taz blocks it and backdrops Angle to the mat. Angle gets up slowly and Taz grabs him from behind, throwing him to the mat with a release German suplex! Angle is laid out on the mat and Taz makes the cover, but Angle kicks out for the near fall. Taz brings Angle to his feet, but Angle pops him in the face to stagger him. Angle hits a European uppercut and runs into the ropes, but Taz steps up and grabs him, throwing him to the mat with a T-Bone suplex. Angle gets up slowly as Taz waits for him. Angle turns around and Taz tries to grab him for a head-and-arm suplex, but Angle rakes him in the eyes. Taz turns away and Angle tries to lift Taz up for the Angle Slam, but Taz slides down Angle's back midway. Angle turns around and repeatedly kicks Taz in the midsection and then knocks him off his feet with a right hand. Taz gets to his feet and Angle tries to punch, but Taz blocks it and responds with one of his own. He keeps hitting punches, but Angle knocks him down with a point-blank lariat. Angle slowly reaches his feet and sits Taz up and then locks him in a body-scissors to try to take the air out of Taz. He taunts Taz again and slaps him repeatedly in the back of the head as Taz struggles to get free. Angle rolls Taz over so that he's in a pinning position, but Taz manages to roll himself back to a seated position, saving the match but wasting some energy. Taz gives up reaching the ropes or gaining the advantage and instead raises his arms in the air, driving down elbows into each of Angle's legs! He keeps doing it until Angle has to let go of the hold. They both get up slowly and trade punches. Taz gets the advantage quickly and switches to forearms, but Angle pokes Taz in the eye to make him back into the corner. Angle runs in to press the attack, but Taz moves out of the way, sending Angle chestfirst into the corner. Angle staggers back and Taz grabs him for the Tazmission! Angle keeps moving so Taz can't lock it in and manages to break the hold with an armdrag. Angle tries to catch his breath, but Taz gets back up and throws him into the corner. Taz hits him with a series of forearms in the corner that make Angle slump on the mat. He brings Angle to his feet and hooks both arms, then sends him out of the corner with a double underhook suplex.

Taz decides against going for the cover and starts to bring Angle to his feet. Angle slumps to the mat and Taz tries again with more force this time, but Angle rolls him up in a small package that gets a near fall. Taz gets up angry and charges at Angle, who takes him down with a drop-toe hold and then applies the Ankle Lock! Taz slams his fists on the mat in frustration as Angle wrenches on the hold. Taz drags himself to the ropes, but Angle pulls him back and grapevines the leg to provided added pressure. Taz hovers his hand over the mat, but lifts the opposite leg and smacks it down on Angle's chest. He does it again and this time gets Angle in the face, surprising him into breaking the hold. Taz gets up gingerly as Angle gets up, shaking off the cobwebs. Angle kicks Taz in the thigh a few times which makes Taz have to grab the ropes to keep from falling. Angle senses the kill and pulls Taz off the ropes and brings him down with a German suplex. He bridges, but Taz gets a shoulder up for the near fall. Angle reaches his feet first and runs into the ropes, blasting Taz in the face with a kneelift. Taz falls to the mat and Angle waits for him to get back up. Taz struggles to reach his feet and Angle comes in and lifts him up for the Angle Slam, but Taz manages to break free of Angle's grasp quickly and falls to the mat. He stumbles when he hits the mat and Angle spins around trying to figure out where Taz is. He finds him and charges with a lariat, but Taz ducks under. Angle hits the ropes and comes back, but Taz grabs him and then throws him to the mat with a head-and-arm suplex! Angle stumbles to his feet as Taz drags himself up and walks backward into the Tazmission!

Angle leans forward to try to make it harder for Taz to get his legs grapevined around him. Taz keeps trying to lift one of his legs into position, but that allows Angle to slowly make his way forward. Angle's breathing gets more and more labored the longer he's in the hold, but he keeps advancing toward the ropes. Taz manages to jerk Angle away from the ropes just as he's about to reach them, but that puts Angle in line with the corner. He makes one desperate push to try and drive Taz's head into the turnbuckle, but Taz pulls back to prevent it. Taz moves to scissor Angle's body with his legs, but Angle steps up the turnbuckles and pushes back, sending both he and Taz to the mat. He doubles himself over on the mat, where Taz is trapped underneath him. The ref then drops to the mat and Taz can't break the Tazmission before he's counted down!

Kurt Angle pinned Taz after a roll-up in 0:17:54.
Rating: **** 1/2
(Kurt Angle retained the GWA North American Title.)

Kurt Angle retains by the skin of his teeth! After the match, both men stay in the same position, meaning Taz continues to choke Angle. The ref tries to break the hold, but can't do anything about it. Angle stops moving completely and Doug Williams gets up from his chair and walks down the aisle. He steps through the ropes and drops several knees on Taz's stomach to get him to break. Williams pulls Angle off and helps him to his feet. The ref drapes the belt on Angle's shoulder and Williams pats him on the back before grabbing him from behind and hitting a German suplex! Angle is laid out as Williams stands over him and Taz recovers in the corner. The camera fades on Williams raising his arm in the air.

Good to see Blanchard laying down the law.  Clean matches = good matches

Kanyon the Pussy makes me smile.  Though I hope this isn't a form of gaybashing by making him a pansy. :)

Skipper wins in a high-quality match, but Daniels gets his heat back with a post-match beatdown.  These two will always put on good matches, so the more the merrier.

How did Tajiri and Quiet Storm ever manage to team anyway?  Regardless, this quirky team gets smashed by Mexico's Most Wanted as they rightfully should have.

CIMA continues his reign of terror by putting the royal ass-beat down on Lynn.  Don't think Lynn is going to make it out there for the match.

Edge retains his title and is becoming a great champions, despite suffering the injury.  Rhyno's frustrations continue.

Havana Pitbulls win the 4-way.  Good enough.  Nothing too special to make note of other than a decent match.

Storm gets taken out by Corino, so Jericho gets The Rock instead.  Not good for him, but Corino plays into it again and gets Jericho the win.  This one is far from over.

Boo... Lynn did get involved, but that match certainly felt special.  I think CIMA should have taken this here, but I can't complain with the match.

New tag champs!  Styles/Christian are a good tag team, and they showed that by becoming the new champs.  Good match.

Great finish to the main event.  Taz looked strong, but Angle's craftiness kept him from obtaining his ultimate goal of winning the title.  And Doug Williams looks to be next in line.

Woo!  PPV Time!

I'm thinking at the moment that they should listen to Kanyon.

Good meeting between Skipper and Daniels.  I'd have expected the Fallen Angel to take it, but I'm not dissapointed with the result at all.  Good to see it's not over though.

Yup... should've listened to Kanyon... and how many times can one say that... you should've listened to Kanyon.  EPIC~!

Battle of the running hugs!  Thought Rhyno might end up taking it.  Edge may be out for a month, but he has to be happy... thats a whole month he has an excuse for not defending his title.

Nice four way.  MMW makes their presence known against York and Matthews.

TEH ROCK!  Didn't expect him to make an appearance thats for sure.  Jericho gets a little help but comes out on top.  Business is certainly going to pick up.

Didn't see Red getting the win over CIMA for the title, but I also expected Lynn not to be at ringside to interfere either.  CIMA and Lynn are going to end up killing eachother before they are done.

New champs and Evil Benoit gets whats coming to him.

I figured the main event to be a toss up.  Could've gone either way.

Definitely good stuff.

Though I hope this isn't a form of gaybashing by making him a pansy.
Of course not :) Kanyon's just had bad experiences with the CIMAs of the world.

How did Tajiri and Quiet Storm ever manage to team anyway?
I wasn't really using Quiet Storm so I teamed him with someone else I wasn't using (Kanyon), but Kanyon quit almost immediately afterward. So then after a match on Anarchy between Storm and Tajiri, I decided to make them team out of respect for each other.

Yup... should've listened to Kanyon... and how many times can one say that... you should've listened to Kanyon.
That's all he's saying. But for some reason, no one takes him seriously. :)
