GLWF Action TV: 12/10/05...

americamamushiPosted on 09/05/06 at 04:46:58

Welcome to GLWF Action TV!  Tonight we're once again coming to you live from our home in Kalamazoo, Michigan at the GLWF Facilities for what promises to be a big night of wrestling!  We have our two previously announced matches this evening that will see Austin Aries take on Gunner Scott as well as Shocker take on Ron Killings, but we've also got a special main event that was just signed this afternoon.  It'll be a match to determine the #1 contender for Alex Shelley's GLWF Television title and will see Harry Smith taking on Shannon Moore!  Now lets get down to ringside to kick off tonight's action!

Gunner Scott vs. Austin Aries

Gunner Scott has been on a bit of a streak here in GLWF and has created a bit of a buzz since he debuted thanks to his technical skills.  Austin Aries seems to have had a chip on his shoulder since losing the TV title to Alex Shelley.  His last match was against Samoa Joe and that loss was nothing to be too ashamed of given Samoa Joe's abilities and strength, but you can almost see on Aries' face that he's been knocked out of his groove.  Austin put up a valiant effort against Scott, but could never quite grasp the match in his fingers always seeming to come up just short on offense.  You could tell he still had all the tools there, he was just having trouble putting them together in the right way to win the match.  Aries tried for a monkey flip, but Scott threw him off and quickly jumped on him grabbing a waist lock.  He pushed Aries into the ropes and tried to pull him back for a reverse rolling cradle, but Aries held on for dear life.  After two more unsuccessful attempts Scott finally overpowered him and hit a big german suplex!  He holds on... and a second german!  And a third for the pin!

Gunner Scott pinned Austin Aries after a German suplex in 0:07:40.
Rating: ** 3/4

As Gunner Scott celebrates his win out dashes Nigel McGuinness!  He's got the iron!  He slides into the ring and Scott doesn't see him... and Nigel clocks Gunner Scott from behind with the iron!  He picks Scott up and props him on the top rope... Tower of London!  It seems the feud between Gunner Scott and Nigel McGuinness is still burning strong as Nigel helps his comrade Austin Aries to the back.

The brand spanking new Great Lakes Heavyweight Champion Samoa Joe and his new manager Traci Brooks make their way out to the ring to a chorus of cheers.  Samoa Joe starts off by thanking the fans for sticking with him and believing in him.  He says he proved that when it comes down to a fair fight that he is better than Michael Shane.  This comment seems to make Traci a little uneasy.  The fans don't seem to care that the only reason Samoa Joe is champion is because Traci basically cheated for him and Samoa Joe doesn't appear to know the truth of the matter.  He keeps making reference to how he won it fair and square and things like that and with every such comment Traci seems to get a little more uneasy because she know thats not the truth.  Joe ends his speech by saying that he's going to defend his belt against all comers and he promises to be a champion that defends his belt fairly and cleanly.

In the back we see Shannon Moore getting ready for his match with Harry Smith that will happen in the main event when Jim Cornette, Shannon Moore's shadow, comes up behind him.  He definitely isn't happy.  He starts off by saying that he knows it was Shannon Moore that interfered in Josh Abercrombie's match last week.  Moore tries to play dumb, but Cornette points out that "If you're gonna wear a mask and interfere in a match you don't wear your own tights ya damn moron!"  Cornette continues by telling Shannon that he's just lucky that Cornette can't unmake his #1 contender match tonight because he'd do it in a heartbeat.  He finishes by warning Moore that he'd better win tonight because once he finds that little bit of evidence he needs to formally accuse Shannon that he's never ever going to get a title shot anywhere in wrestling again!  Moore seems a little nervous about Cornette's words.  Moore still claims his innocence despite Cornette's protests that it was indeed Shannon Moore, but it seems more and more like Shannon may just end up taking the fall for something he didn't do.

Ron Killings vs. "1,000% Guapo" Shocker

Tonight Killings was looking to regain some momentum after losing a close one to Mr. Kennedy two weeks ago and Shocker was in just about the same position, trying to turn things onto an upswing after Los Corazones Negros lost to  Tank Toland and his new partner and cousin Eric Young in a handicap match last week thanks to some ridiculously dumb luck.  This was not the first time these two had met in a GLWF ring either.  Back in September Shocker defeated Killings via his finisher the Shockwave and they've been across the ring from eachother twice in 6-man tag action, with Shocker and Los Corazones Negros coming out on top in both encounters and while it's been a couple months since they've been in the ring with eachother you could tell emotions were running high.  The match was pretty fast paced with neither man seeming to want to take a break from their offensive onslaughts.  Shocker caught Killings in the Reinera, but Killings held on and managed to fight his way out.  Shocker was able to set up his Shockwave twice, but couldn't connect either time as Killings was still alert enough to dodge the attack.  Killings caught Shocker mid-air with a dropkick when he attempted to hit a flying crossbody block and hit the Consequence for the three count.

Ron Killings pinned Shocker with the Consequence in 0:09:06.
Rating: *** 3/4

After Killings' win out came Mr. Kennedy who stood just in front of the curtain with a microphone giving a patronizing round of applause.  Killings didn't seem amused when he saw Kennedy was out there as the two have not been anything close to friends since their paths crossed.  Kennedy gave Killings a verbal lashing, saying how in their first encounter Killings was lucky to get a pinfall on him, but that he showed two weeks ago that Mr. Kennedy is on his way up, while Ron Killings is on his way down.  Killings attains a microphone of his own and invites Kennedy to come down to the ring and prove it right here and now.  Kennedy looks like he's about to, but then stops, gives a smug smile and tells Killings he's not going to waste his time "with a has been... or rather... a never was."  And leaves to boos from the audience.

Main Event to decide #1 contender for the GLWF Television title: "Bulldog" Harry Smith vs. "Public Enemy #1" Shannon Moore

Moore and Smith both had a big opportunity.  A win tonight equals a TV title shot with Alex Shelley two weeks from tonight.  Shannon Moore had a few factors working against him tonight that seemed to really play a factor in this meeting.  Moore was giving up height, weight and power to Harry Smith not to mention that for the past weeks he's had Cornette hovering over him like a buzzard.  Harry Smith along with his new attitude had an easy time controlling the match.  Moore had pockets of offense, but Smith was in control.  Moore seemed to be having trouble concentrating and it appeared that sometimes he was just simply trying too hard and wasn't thinking thanks to Cornette's comment about making this one count.  To Moore's credit though he did keep kicking out and coming back which was further frustrating Harry Smith who thought several times he had the match won.  The ref had been sandwiched in the corner between the turnbuckle and Shannon Moore thanks to a Harry Smith lariat and was a tad bit dazed.  Moore managed to hit a desperation reverse sleeperhold mat slam and rolled to the outside to grab a chair.  He got back in the ring, but Smith was already back up and kick the chair into Moore's face, knocking him down.  Smith picked up the chair and the ref called for the bell.  Apparently the ref saw Shannon Moore on the mat and Smith standing over him holding a chair and assumed that Smith clocked him.  Harry Smith is down right furious that he's been DQed.  Shannon Moore may be seeing stars, but he knew enough to roll out of the ring as Harry Smith violently picked up the ref and hit the Running Powerslam on him.

[Main Event]: Number-One-Contenders-Match:
Shannon Moore defeated Harry Smith by disqualification in 0:14:20.
Rating: ** 1/2

Another great night of GLWF Action TV has come to a close and we know now that in two weeks time Shannon Moore will go one on one with Alex Shelley for the GLWF Television title.  Join us next week when Josh Abercrombie will be in action, H.B. Cade takes on "Savage" Siaki, Roadkill will be taking on Nigel McGuinness, and in the main event, Hector Garza & Mistico of Los Corazones Negros will try and defend their tag team titles against the team of Tank Toland and Eric Young!  We'll see you next week!

It appears that Chris Benoit has trained Gunner Scott well in the art of hitting German Suplexes in threes. Austin Aries is no slouch either so that is another big win for a future GCW wrestler.

And there's Nigel McGuiness. So that's the man you compared to Cibernetico, huh? Definitely both are opportunists and like it or not, that kind of attitude gets wrestlers ahead in wrestling.

I like that dynamic between Samoa Joe, Traci, and Michael Shane. I wonder what Joe will think when he finds out that he didn't win the title without shenanigans?

Public Enemy #1 is a perfect nickname for the Shannon Moore gimmick...Much more marketable than "Reject".
