Test showed fighting spirit in his match against Benoit at Saturday Night Main Event, and had no problems defeating "International Superstar" Trent Acid here tonight

Lacey pinned Daizee Haze with the Floatover Implant DDT in 0:10:44.
Rating: *** 1/2

A very competetive women's match on our webcast, proving yet again that real women wrestler comes to WWC, while the pornstars go to WEW.

SMACKDOWN

Charleston, North Carolina played host to Smackdown tonight, and as promised on our website, this show would be packed with matches! More matches, less talking was the guarantee from Shane McMahon, as WWC has been accused of being more or less the same as WEW. That is why we'll go straight to the ring, as Brian Kendrick away his opponent!

Brian Kendrick vs Rob van Dam w/Bill Alfonso

Rob Van Dem fell short of his big dream of winning the WWC Heavyweight Championship almost two weeks ago, and seemed set to bounce back in this opening contest against Brian Kendrick. Kendrick, who broke off his tag-team partnership with Paul London recently, wasn't without his moments in this match. He effectively blocked RVD's spin kick, and delivered a crushing enzuigiri himself. The bad beat seems to continue for Kendrick though, as RVD deftly ducked a missile dropkick and went high risk himself for the Five Star Frog Splash in a short opener. RVD didn't seemed too please by the win, as he left the ring looking all glum and annoyed at himself for not taking the belt home with him at SNME.

Rob Van Dam pinned Brian Kendrick with the Five Star Frog Splash in 0:05:50.
Rating: *** 1/2

- Josh Matthews managed to stop Rob Van Dam and Bill Alfonso after their match. Josh asked RVD how he felt about losing to Rey Mysterio at Saturday Night Main Event, but before Rob could answer, Bill broke in, saying that this wasn't over, and that RVD would get a third match against that little weasel Rey Mysterio. Alfonso said that as far as he was concerned, RVD was still a title contender, and that he would petition for a 3-way at Summerslam. RVD grabbed a hold of Alfonso, saying that enough was enough, and it all ends now. He tells Bill that he could have won the title two weeks ago, but he chose to play to the crowd instead, and it didn't pay off. RVD says he's sorry for letting Bill down, but this is the way it's gonna be.

Hart Foundation 2G (Harry Smith & Teddy Hart) vs MNM (Joey Mercury & Merciless) w/Johnny Nitro

It's odd to see MNM without Melina, and the three guys didn't seem all to happy about it either. MNM has always had Hart Foundation's number in their previous outings, but something seemed different tonight. The teamwork seemed off by a mile, as they missed several good opportunities to double-team their Canadian opponents early on. Nitro tried to take Melina's role outside of the ring, but it created more confusion than it did good, as Merciless was jaw-jacking with Nitro while Mercury almost tapped out to Smith's boston crab. Being students of the Dungeon, these guys really know submission holds.

The finish came when Mercury and Merciless missed a double clothesline on Smith, and were subsequently hit on the rebound and sent out. Merciless climbed back in, but Mercury was hurt, and regained his footing much slower. Nitro came over to help him, but was rebuked by Mercury who didn't need his help. While they were arguing outside, Smith took the groggy Merciless down with a running powerslam and tagged Hart, who finished it all off with the Hart Attack. MNM's problems continues.

- A camera catches up with MNM in the back, where the former tag team champions are still arguing. Nitro tries to calm them all down, telling them that they have lost the glue that kept them together, but that they can always get some new glue. Nitro lets them know that in two weeks, he will present them with this glue. Merciless asks Mercury if he knows what Nitro is talking about, but he just shrugs and leaves, yelling something to Nitro.

Ken Kennedy vs Paul London

It's the return of MISTERRRRRRR KENNEDYYY... KENNEDYYYY! Kennedy walks to the ring and says that WWC is definetely not the same without him, and that the tv ratings will soar as he makes his long-awaited return to the wrestling ring. London had heard enough, and took down Kennedy with the dropsault. London did get a lot of momentum in on Kennedy in the opening minutes, hitting him with a moonsault and a slingshot Oklahoma roll for a nearfall. Kennedy didn't want anything to ruin his great return to the ring, and the next time London went high, Kennedy crotched him and started choking him out.

A couple of minutes later, Kennedy planted London with a bodyslam, but missed the follow-up elbowdrop. London catapulted Kennedy into the turnbuckle, but Kennedy moved out of the way for the running forearm smash. Kennedy then positioned London on the ropes and hit the Green Bay Plunge for the victory.
Kennedy put himself over yet again on the microphone, and said that he was the best thing since sliced bread.

Ken Kennedy pinned Paul London with the Green Bay Plunge in 0:08:41.

- Josh Matthews is backstage with the 2007 Tag Team World Cup winners, the Mexicools. They start to explain in broken English how great it feels to win this trophy, and that they will dedicate it to every wetback and immigrant in the US, when Robbie Dawber, the Dojo's interpreter, interjects himself in the interview. He says it's a disgrace that the Mexicools won the cup, and blames it all on luck and happenstance. Super Crazy and Psicosis starts pushing Dawber around, turning their backs to the Dojo who come running, brandishing kendo sticks and laying it to the Mexicans. Robbie Dawber removes his shirt and stomps away as well. The Dojo is in control until Rey Mysterio comes running, wielding a chair. The WWC Champion cracks Naruki Doi over the head with it, and chases off the others. The Latino community definetely sticks together.

Cpt. Burchill vs Jamie Noble(c)w/Dusty Rhodes for the WWC Strong-Style Championship

Before this match, we learn that Shane McMahon has signed a big six-man tag team match as the main event tonight. The Dojo will take on Mexicools and Rey Mysterio!

Jamie Noble has put out an open challenge for his Strong-Style Championship, and the bloodthirsty pirate Burchill answered his challenge tonight. Burchill has some problems with his tag-team partner, Spud, so it was singles action for him tonight. Noble has defeated all comers so far, even going so far as to challenge the new Road Manager, Kurt Angle, two weeks ago.

After a small feeling out process, Burchill gained the upper hand as he drove Noble to the mat with the Air Raid Crash. Burchill went for the cover, but as there are no covers made during the matches, Noble used the distraction to take him down with a backbreaker. Noble used all the tricks in the book to keep Burchill at bay, eye gouges, low-blows and chokes, all behind the ref's back, of course. The crowd was a little bored now and then, and started a "We want Spud" chant. This brought out the small first mate, who approached the ring wearily. Burchill had just put Noble down with the Walk the Plank (C4), when he spotted Spud cringing by the announce table, terrified of the ring. Burchill turned his back to Noble for too long, as Noble pounced on him, hitting him with a lungblower, and then clasping on the Dragon Sleeper. Burchill tapped out, but Noble didn't let go. Dusty Rhodes was urging Spud to rescue his partner, but instead, Spud crept into Michael Cole's lap. Noble finally let go of Burchill, and said that his open challenge was still on next Smackdown.

Jamie Noble made Cpt.Burchill submit to the Dragon Sleeper in 0:10:41.
Rating: *** 1/2
(Jamie Noble retained the WWC Strong-Style Championship.)

- Josh Matthews interviews Test, who fell short of becoming the top contender two weeks ago. Test says that while he lost to Benoit, he never tapped out as is Benoit's preferred method of defeating his opponents, and that his fighting spirit would ensure that he never did tap out either. Chris Benoit comes over, asking Test if he really thinks he couldn't get Test to tap out. Test says he is correct in that assumption. Benoit then challenges Test to a special challenge match next Smackdown. If Benoit couldn't make Test tap out within 20 minutes, he would forfeit his title shot at Summerslam. Test happily agreed.

The WWC World Tag-Team Champions Second City Saints (CM Punk & Colt Cabana)w/Melina vs the OVW Tag Team Champions the Untouchables (Deuce Shade & Dice Domino) w/Cherry in a Champions vs Champions match

The OVW Tag Team Champions vs the WWC Tag Team Champions. The Untouchables failed in their match against MNM, and few, if none, thought they would fare otherwise against the Saints. Cabana found a new hot chick to make out with in the first row (but after the problems it caused at SNME, he chose a single one this time), while Punk did the same to Melina. Punk seemed a lot happier now than in a while, wonder why...

Cabana and Shade engaged in a shoulderblock war, which ended when Cabana fooled Shade into looking at the ceiling, before he stomped on his toes and gave him a powerbomb. Even though the Untouchables have been pretty unstoppable in OVW, they still have a long way to go on this level. The roller-blading Cherry tried to interfere, but Melina put a stop to that, slingshotting her down the aisle. Cherry went skating through the curtains, and that was the last we saw of her. Colt gets the pinfall after a powerbomb on Deuce in a match which Punk stayed out of for the most. After the match, Colt accepted Jamie Noble's challenge. Guess we have a match scheduled in two weeks then.

- We go to the Scurvy Dogs' pirate cave, where Burchill is still recuperating after losing to Jamie Noble. The hypnotist and illusionist the Amazing Darkstone comes in, and Burchill immediately puts his sword to his throat, demanding his payment back. Darkstone tells Burchill that he never promised to cure Spud permanently, and that his treatment only helped him for that one evening. Darkstone tells the pirates that Spud has a curse on him, but that he can probably lift it, for a price of course. Darkstone peers over at a large pirate chest, filled to the rim with gold. Burchill says that's Spanish gold, and that he can't have that. Burchill removes the last of his pearl necklaces, and says Darkstone can have those if he can cure the curse. Darkstone agrees.

Chris Cage vs Aaron Stevens

"That 80's guy" Chris Cage and Aaron "Idol" Stevens are feuding in OVW over the Heavyweight Title (which Aaron recently won), and this match is a top contender match of sorts, as Stevens has promised Cage a title match if he won tonight. Elijah Burke's former dancing partner, Beth Phoenix, is managing the Idol now, and was massaging his shoulders as the cocky youngster made his way to the ring.

This was a good back-and-forth showing between two young wrestlers both gunning for a big future here in WWC. Cage has wrestled on Smackdown before, and had the upper hand on Stevens when the champ decided to start choking him. I don't know what kind of referees he's used to down in OVW, but here in the big leagues, you'll get DQ'ed, and that's exactly what he was here. Stevens then said that didn't count, and Cage wouldn't get a title shot after all.

[Win to earn OVW Heavyweight Title Shot]:
Chris Cage defeated Aaron Stevens by disqualification in 0:07:06.

The Dojo (Genki Horiguchi, Dragon Kid & Naruki Doi) w/Robbie Dawber vs The Mexicools (Super Crazy & Psicosis) & Rey Mysterio

Team Japan didn't accept losing the Tag Team World Cup to Mexicools, and decided to take matters into their own hands earlier tonight. Psicosis and Super Crazy received some unexpected help from their fellow Latino, WWC Heavyweight Champion - Rey Mysterio!

The Mexicans put the crowd on fire from the get-go by taking on all three Dojo members in a punching war, before Rey cleaned house with a dropkick on Doi, a sitdown faceslam on Dragon Kid and finally, a cross body on Genki for a two count.

Order was restored in the ring, but it was still a crazy, fast-packed, spot-filled match all the same. Rey caught Naruki Doi with the 619, but as he went for the West Coast Pop, Robbie Dawber pulled down the ropes, causing Rey to spill on the outside. The Dojo's interpreter had so far stayed out of their matches, but he has apparently decided to make an exception tonight.

In this kind of wrestling environment, you not only need to hit your opponent hard, but you have to be sure that nobody breaks your pin. Super Crazy hit the Moonsault, Doi hit the Bakatare Sliding Kick, but their finishes yielded no results as there was always someone to break up your pinfall. The spots in this match really could have been saved to a ppv. Robbie Dawber retrieved a ladder from under the ring, and Doi and Genki tossed Rey out of the ring, straight into it! Super Crazy and Psicosis pulled out some trashcans, hitting all Dojo members with it. The ref didn't seem to care though, as he was just as thrilled by this match as the fans. Rey finally had enough of Robbie Dawber, and chased the interpreter to the back. Right then, Chris Benoit ran out to meet Rey, decking him with a lariat. He didn't do more, but the numbers game took its toll on Mexicools. Doi took Psicosis down with a power bomb on a trashcan to win a fantastic main event.

Mexicools (Psicosis and Super Crazy) and Rey Misterio when Doi pinned Psicosis
after a running power bomb in 0:27:52.

WWC Live Event - Savannah, Georgia

This was a jam-packed Live Event, showing yet again, that WWC takes all its fans seriously, not only when the show is on TV.

The first match was a spectacular WWC Tag Team Title match, where the Second City Saints defended their championships against the Hart Foundation. Teddy and Harry fought valiantly, but as the time limit drew near, they started taking chances. Teddy went up high without really checking if Punk was down for good, and the Punkster acted on this, and brought Hart to the ground with the Pepsi Plunge

WWC drags along some of the OVW wrestlers now and then, and tonight, both members of the Untouchables were involved in singles action. Deuce Shade faced off against OVW Champion Aaron Stevens in a non-title match. Unfortunately, this match went far too long for the crowd's liking, and is perhaps proof that they are still too green to be wrestling for almost 20 minutes

Aaron Stevens pinned Dice Domino with the Idolizer in 0:18:05.

[Beth Phoenix interfered against Dice Domino.]

MNM's bad luck continues in this upset loss to two OVW wrestlers. Add to this the fact that Acid and Cage have never tagged together before, and you realize just how much MNM misses the adulterous Melina.

Chris Cage and Trent Acid defeated MNM (Joey Mercury and Merciless) when Acid
pinned Merciless after a small package in 0:12:13.

- Rey Mysterio came out and pointed to the cage suspended above the ceiling. Rey said the cage was to be used at tomorrow's WEW Backlash PPV, but that he had called his good friend Triple H and asked if he could borrow it if he plugged the Backlash event. Rey then called out RVD and challenged him to Rey vs RVD III, this time inside a steel cage. RVD accepted, and Alfonso was perhaps the happiest man in Georgia.

Well, as we all know, Spud hates the ring. Kennedy went on the outside to fight him though, but everytime Spud got on the offensive, Kennedy moved closer to the ring. Finally, Kennedy didn't bother anymore, and just allowed Spud to be counted out

Ken Kennedy defeated First Mate Spud by countout in 0:05:12.
Rating: * 1/2

Jamie Noble seems to be a fighting champion, taking on challengers both on live events and Smackdown tapings. They all have one thing in common, they just can't seem to cope with Noble's submission wrestling skills. Super Crazy tried as best as he could, but to no avail. Noble again berated the WWC roster for being a bunch of pussies.

Jamie Noble made Super Crazy submit to the Dragon Sleeper in 0:09:09.
Rating: *** 1/4
(Jamie Noble retained the WWC Strong-Style Championship.)

Test had a somewhat easy task tonight, as he faced off with Dice Domino. Dice Domino thinks it's still the 50's, but I doubt anyone got their face kicked in so much then as Dice did tonight against Test. Test's looking good!

Test pinned Deuce Shade with the Test Drive in 0:08:10.

Burchill really needs to start winning matches, but when you fight one of the Dojo, you have to take into consideration that you're fighting all three of them. And when your own tag-team partner doesn't want anything to do with getting close to the ring, you're in serious doo-doo.

Naruki Doi pinned Cpt.Burchill with the Bakatare Sliding Kick in 0:10:40.

One final chance for Rob Van Dam to capture the WWC Heavyweight Title, this time in a steel cage. Van Dam dominated large portions of the match, but Rey has a will to survive that is unprecedented in WWC so far. As RVD was climbing down the cage on the outside, Rey motioned for the ref to open the door, and flew outside with a tope, crashlanding on the floor. Rey will do everything to keep his belt. After the match, even Bill Alfonso congratulated Rey for his excellent title defense

**** WWC NEWS ****

- The perhaps biggest news item in June is not actually from WWC, but WEW. At the Backlash event 08.10.06, Triple H defeated WEW World Champion John Cena in a loser-leaves-town match. Now, we don't really know if Cena is leaving WEW, or if it just a storyline element while Cena shoots the Marine 2, but as we all know, things aren't good backstage between Cena and Stephanie / Hunter. Could Cena be the wrestler coming to WWC in exchange for Lashley? And how will the WWC crowd react to that?

- William Regal is set to make his return to the ring soon, while both Johnny Nitro and Elijah Burke will stay out of action until after SummerSlam. Nunzio is out until at least October, and will probably miss Halloween Havoc as well.

- While Randy Orton's suspension was indefinite, it is rumored that he is on his way back. Inside information predicts that he will form a stable with several OVW wrestlers.

- Neither Spud or Burchill are particularly happy with their comedy pirate gimmick / angle, and while it's not actually in sync with WWC's image, the fans are finding it so hilarious that Shane and Heyman have no plans of ending it early.

OVW NEWS

OVW has finally established a permanent roster. The following 30 wrestlers are all on a PPA contract with OVW, and are free to wrestle elsewhere as well.

Aaron Stevens, BJ Whitmer, Brandon Thomaselli, Brent Albright, Chris Cage, Chris the Bambikiller, Christopher Bishop, Daizee Haze, Danny Doring, Delirious, Deuce Shade, Dice Domino, Fast Eddie, Jack Bull, Johnny Kashmere, Lacey, Lionel Knight, Mikey Batts, Necro Butcher, Roadkill, Robbie Dawber, Robbie McAlister, Rory McAlister, Sal Thomaselli, Seth Skyfire, Shelly Martinez, Shiima Xion, Trent Acid, Trinity, Vito Thomaselli

- RoH wrestlers Delirious and BJ Whitmer are both being considered as fully trained, and are simply honing their craft here while Heyman thinks of an angle to introduce them into WWC. The same goes for Necro Butcher, who may not be a technical wonder, but who is something extraordinary you don't see every day. Contract renewals are coming up next month, and rumor has it that Heyman will cut a lot of wrestlers that he feels never can get over with the crowd, or who will never be skilled enough in the ring.

Awww, I wanna hug poor Brian Kendrick

Hmmm... glue eh?  I hope he doesn't plan on huffing said glue ;)  MNM have enough problems already

Awww, I wanna hug poor Paul London as well. :)  Slightly less than Kendrick though as I'm a huge Kennedy mark

I like how you incorporate OVW into your WWC product.

Nice main event with Japan vs. Mexico.  I was torn as to who I thought would take that one.

Great live event as well.  I can't believe they decided to make a Marine 2 already ;)  I like the possibility of Cena hitting WWC.  I'm not a huge fan of his, but from a character/story aspect I think you could get a lot of use out of him.  Orton might get a stable in OVW, question is will he bring it up to WWC with him eventually and try and throw his weight around.

Good stuff
Snabbit888Posted on 08/31/06 at 01:50:31

No complaints with more action and less talking.  RVD looks good in beating Kendrick to kick off the show.

Awww... RVD is sad and stuff.  Poor guy.

MNM is in total disarray without Melina.  But they rule... so hard.  New manager for them in 2 weeks?

Good return victory for Ken Kennedy.  Best thing since sliced bread?  I thought that was Sliced Bread #2.

I like Mysterio coming to the rescue for the Mexicools.  Mysterio seems to be out on a limb by himself and he could really use some allies against Benoit and his clan.

He's still scared of the ring!  SPUD!  Woo!  Noble beats Burchill, which isn't at all surprising.  The Strong Style thing is growing on me a bit, but it could just be because I'm a big Noble fan.

Good showing by the Untouchables, but the SCS have a lot of momentum now and can't be losing to the OVW'ers.  Though I expect Colt Cabana to suffer from a big dose of Jamie Noble kicking his ass.

Ha ha.  Lift the curse, Amazing Darkstone, lift the curse!

Your roster must be a bit thin because you have a lot of OVW guys wrestling on your show.  Nothing wrong with the wrestlers, but it seems odd that OVW is getting such pub on Smackdown.

Great action-packed main event.  Still not all that familiar with your Japanese contingent, but they're growing on me slightly.  Good way to end your show.
rey619Posted on 09/04/06 at 09:22:10

When you mention it, I do have a thin roster.

Rey Mysterio, Chris Benoit, Test, Jamie Noble, RVD, CM Punk, Joey Mercury, Ken Kennedy, Psicosis, Super Crazy, Colt Cabana, Burchill, Paul London, Brian Kendrick, Genki Horiguchi, Harry Smith, Teddy Hart, Dragon Kid, Naruki Doi, Merciless, Spud

That's only 22 wrestlers. Randy Orton, William Regal, Johnny Nitro, Nunzio, Elijah Burke are either injured or suspended. I have a couple of new signees that are debuting shortly, but I still have to use some of my developmentals that are close to earning a regular spot in the WWC roster. For the moment, they are:

Chris Cage, Aaron Stevens, Lacey, Daizee Haze, Trent Acid, Deuce Shade, Dice Domino, Robbie Dawber
