ECW BARELY LEGAL - A New Era Begins
April 16th, 2006
Live from the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, PA.
Your commentary team is Joey Styles and Cyrus.

"ECW was a lifestyle, it was anti-establishment, it was counter-culture, and it was up in your face!"

Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) was a groundbreaking and influential professional wrestling promotion that was founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1992 by Tod Gordon, and closed when his successor, Paul Heyman, declared bankruptcy in April 2001.

The company became known for its loyal fanbase as well as its tendency to push the envelope with storylines. The group has showcased many different styles of professional wrestling, ranging from lucha libre to hardcore wrestling.

Tonight...a new era of Extreme begins. The tribe of EXTREME HAS RISEN AGAIN!!!

The pay-per-view begins with a deafening "E-C-W!" chant from the rabid fans on hand this evening. The ECW theme hits and Paul E makes his way out to a thunderous response for the mad scientist of wrestling.

A visibly emotional Paul Heyman came to the ring, got on his knees and bowed to the fans, who chanted "Thank you Paul!" The squared circle was surrounded by the entire ECW roster.
Heyman claimed that on behalf of every wrestler that wanted to be hardcore more than they wanted to be a superstar, on behalf of everyone that lived the dream, fought the fight and never gave up hope, the tribe of EXTREME HAS RISEN AGAIN! The crowd were showing Paul E much love. Heyman proceeded to thank every fan inside the ECW arena for making this night possible. He proclaimed himself to be the messiah of the new breed unleashed, the rabbi of the revolution and the swinging shlong of the extreme! Heyman welcomed everyone to something that is better than Monday Night Raw, better than SmackDown and better than TNA - the REBIRTH OF ECW! The wrestlers surrounding the ring applauded as Heyman wiped a tear from his eye and patiently waited for the "E-C-W!" chant to die down.

Paul Heyman said that he some business to address and it concerned a former ECW wrestler that was currently plying his trade "down south". Heyman claimed he would have loved to have that man in question be a part of the new tribe of Extreme, as that man was the former ECW World and Television Champion. Unfortunately, Heyman revealed that that man had made some very bad recent decisions and had spat in the face of ECW. Consequently, Heyman declared that all the titles were now vacant. However, Heyman announced that tonight at Barely Legal we would determine new title holders for all the championships in ECW.

Paul E revealed that tonight there would be a Four Corners Tag Team Match featuring The Eliminators, The Dudley Boys, The Impact Players and Public Enemy, with the winners facing the last men to hold the straps, Danny Doring and Roadkill, later in the evening. He said that this would be fair to everybody, since Doring and Roadkill never actually lost the titles in the ring. Heyman then announced that we would crown a new ECW Television Champion with a 20-man over the top rope Battle Royal tonight in the ECW Arena.

Paul Heyman said that he had left his biggest and most earth-shattering announcement till last. He proclaimed that the six biggest stars in ECW history - Raven, "The Whole F'N Show" Rob Van Dam, "The Franchise" Shane Douglas, "The Human Highlight Reel" Sabu, "The Human Suplex Machine" Taz and "The Hardcore ICON" The Sandman - would do battle for the vacant ECW World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of Barely Legal. However, it wouldn't be in any old match - it would be contested inside the confines of the EXTREME ELIMINATION CHAMBER!!! The crowd were not sure what to make of this as Heyman sold it as the most torturous and destructive structure in wrestling history, designed to punish the human body!

The opening titles of ECW Barely Legal rolled and when the camera returned to the ECW Arena the Dudley Boys were making their entrance for the opening contest, a Four Way Tag Team Dance.

Four Way Dance:
The Dudley Boys vs. The Eliminators vs. The Impact Players vs. Public Enemy

Match highlights:
This four corners tag team match featured teams who had all held the ECW World Tag Team Championship before. The Dudley Boys, Buh-Buh Ray and D-Von, have had the most reigns with a grand total of eight, while Public Enemy of Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge are four time champions, The Eliminators of John Kronus and Perry Saturn have held the gold three times and Justin Credible and Lance Storm, The Impact Players, have been champions on two occasions.
This wild brawl got off to a frenetic start when Joel Gertner's raunchy and controversial introduction speech for the Dudleys was cut short by the arrival of the Eliminators. Kronus and Saturn leveled Big Dick Dudley with the Total Elimination before threatening to do the same to Gertner, but Buh-Buh Ray and D-Von made the save. The Impact Players hit the ring to join in the melee and soon afterward the crowd came alive as Public Enemy made their arm-waving entrance.
After a four way tussle between all the teams involved, the bout began to assume some semblance of order. Rocco Rock scored a near fall on Saturn with a spinebuster. Kronus ducked out of the way of Justin Credible's superkick and Credible connected with his own partner Lance Storm. Buh Buh Ray planted Rocco Rock with a sitout full nelson bomb. Rocco Rock put Justin Credible through a table with a moonsault and then Public Enemy went for the Drive By through a table on Lance Storm. However, Jason pulled Storm out of the way and Rock went crashing through the hardware. As Grunge went after Jason, Storm used the Cradle Piledriver on Rock to eliminate Public Enemy.
The Eliminators began to assume control of the contest, destroying their opponents with various kick combos. They planted Lance Storm with a vertical suplex/top rope crossbody combination. The Dudleys attacked Kronus from behind and hit him with a combination belly-to-back suplex and falling neckbreaker. Buh Buh Ray and D-Von executed the Dudley Device on Saturn and called for the 3-D. Before they could complete the move though Kronus took out Buh Buh Ray while Saturn countered D-Von's flapjack with a DDT. Kronus then hit Buh Buh Ray with the 450 Splash and then The Eliminators ejected the Dudleys from the proceedings with Total Elimination on D-Von.
It was now down to The Impact Players vs. The Eliminators for the right to wrestle for the ECW Tag Team Titles later tonight. Storm scored a near fall on Kronus with an inverted DDT. Saturn hit Credible with a Saturnsault. Storm caught Saturn in the Sharpshooter but Kronus broke it up with a spin kick. Kronus went for the Space Flying Kronus Drop on Lance Storm, but Credible hit him with the Singapore cane as he got up a head of steam. Credible spiked Saturn on the cane with That's Incredible and then The Impact Players took the win after drilling Kronus with the Deep Impact spike piledriver.

After the bell, Justin Credible took the microphone and said that he and Lance Storm didn't want to wait until later in the night. He said that he and Storm had never been beaten for the titles (which of course was true - The Impact Players were stripped of the titles when Storm left for WCW) and he demanded that Danny Doring and Roadkill come out and bring "their" belts with them. Doring and Roadkill wasted no time in answering the challenge.

Match for the vacant ECW Tag Team Championship:
Danny Doring and Roadkill vs. The Impact Players

Match highlights:
Danny Doring and Roadkill hit the ring immediately and the two teams traded punches. The last team to hold the ECW Tag Team Championship took the advantage. Doring planted Storm with the G-Spot Sweep and then followed up with the Danaconda flying legdrop. Roadkill powerslammed Lance Storm and then hit him with the Dirt Road Slam. The Impact Players bailed out but Doring leapt onto them with a plancha off Roadkill's back. Back in the ring, Doring and Roadkill blasted Credible with the Lancaster Lariat of Lust. As Credible rolled to the outside, Doring and Roadkill executed the Buggy Bang on Lance Storm. Doring made the cover for the certain victory, but Dawn Marie distracted referee Jim Molineaux. Roadkill took off after Dawn as Doring protested with the official. Justin Credible sneaked up from behind and went for That's Incredible, but Doring blocked it and hit the Bareback. Roadkill came back to the ring and scored with the Barn Burner on Lance Storm. The Angry Amish Warrior went up top looking for the Amish Splash, but Credible cracked him between the eyes with the Singapore cane, sending Roadkill crashing through the timekeeper's table! Credible then wore the cane out on Danny Doring before hooking him up in the That's Incredible spinning Tombstone, securing the victory and the titles!

Backstage, Shane Douglas gave an interview with Francine by his side. He put himself over as the man who built Extreme Championship Wrestling up from the ground, brick by brick. Douglas said he was instrumental in the development of "extreme" wrestling and raising ECW's prominince in the eyes of wrestling fans and journalists. He said he allowed ECW to become an alternative to WCW and the WWF and as a result of this, he would reclaim his throne tonight and take the ECW Title. Douglas added that when that happened, the company could be built around him once more.

Joey Styles build up the next bout on the card, a mouth-watering international high-flying spectacle featuring Teddy Hart, Mistico and Pac.
Teddy Hart is a third generation member of the Hart wrestling family. He is the grandson of Stu Hart, and the nephew of Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Bruce Hart, Jim Neidhart and Davey Boy Smith. Hart achieved a degree of fame when he became the youngest wrestler ever to be signed to a developmental contract by the World Wrestling Federation. However, his subsequent release and controversial actions while wrestling on the independent circuit have earned him a measure of infamy.
Coming to ECW from the CMLL promotion in Mexico, Mistico was raised in the notorious Tepito district of Mexico City and he began his career wrestling under his father's name as Dr. Karonte, Jr. at the age of 15. His stature made him an underdog and his high flying moves such as diving armdrags made him popular with Mexico City crowds. Mistico is a 1-time CMLL World Tag Team champion with Negro Casas and a 1-time NWA World Middleweight champion.
Finally, Pac, known as 'The Man Gravity Forgot', is the all action aerial assassin hailing from Newcastle, England. He is the breakout star of 2006 on the UK wrestling scene and has come to ECW to prove himself against some of the best cruiserweights in the world. Incredibly athletic and gifted with an ability to seemingly defy gravity, Pac is a true legend in the making on the British wrestling scene. Hold on to your seats, because this could be the show stealer!

Cruiserweight Three Way Dance:
Teddy Hart vs. Mistico vs. Pac

Match highlights:
The action in this one was almost too fast and furious for Joey Styles to call. Mistico took control early, dropping Teddy Hart with a missile dropkick and taking Pac down with spinning headscissors. Pac blasted Mistico with a Skytwister Press and a crisp standing moonsault for a near fall. Teddy Hart hit Mistico with the Hart Attack 2.0, a shooting star elbowdrop. Mistico almost eliminated Hart with a sunset flip power bomb. Mistico nailed Hart with a springboard plancha armdrag from the ring to the floor and then Pac dived onto both men with an amazing springboard shooting star bodyblock! The crowd were loving every second of this cruiserweight three way dance. Mistico trapped Pac in his La Mistica armbar submission hold, but Teddy Hart seized the opportunity to blast the defenceless Mistico with the Open Hart Surgery somersault corkscrew legdrop and eliminate him!
Pac began to take the upper hand in this contest and he scored a succession of very close near falls on Hart with a Falcon Arrow, a Blue Thunder Bomb and a shooting star press. The Man Gravity Forgot signalled that it was time for the end and went for his incredible 630 Senton, but Hart rolled out of harms way at the last split second! Teddy Hart then emerged victorious following the second Open Hart Surgery of the evening.

Triangle Match:
Teddy Hart defeated Mistico and Pac:
x Teddy Hart beat Mistico via the Open Hart Surgery in 0:12:36
x Teddy Hart beat Pac via the Open Hart Surgery in 0:15:06
Rating: ** 3/4

The ECW faithful gave all three men a standing ovation for their tremendous efforts here this evening at Barely Legal. Suddenly, the fans were distracted by something and as they looked around the ECW Arena, "The Man Beast" Rhino sprinted through the crowd and hit the ring! Teddy Hart bailed out of the squared circle as Rhino sized up a groggy Pac and then Gored him out of his boots!! Rhino gave the crowd the finger as they taunted him with a "F**k you Rhino!" chant. The former ECW World Champion cleared the timekeeper's table and then almost killed Pac with a piledriver through the table from the apron!!! Rhino then called for the microphone.

Rhino addressed Paul Heyman and called him a fat Jewish piece of shit. He admonished him for starting up ECW again without the last TV and World Champion on the roster. Rhino said he was the unified champion and the only man ever to unify those titles. He said that he had the belts back home in his cellar and claimed that if Heyman had any balls, he would come and take them from him. Paul Heyman emerged from the back, flanked by an army of police officers, who proceeded to enter the ring and drag a furious Rhino out of the building. The crowd serenaded Rhino with "Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye!" as a battered and bruised Pac was helped to the back.

Taz cut a promo backstage regarding tonight's Extreme Elimination Chamber main event for the vacant ECW World Heavyweight Championship. He said that his path of rage would lead straight to the Chamber this evening and he had one message for all five of his opponents: "Beat me if you can, survive...if I let you!!"

20-Man Battle Royal for the vacant ECW World Television Championship

Match highlights:
This 20-man over the top rope battle royal featured no less than fourteen previous ECW World Television Champions, as well as the debut of CM Punk, the straight-edge superstar and darling of the independent scene for the past few years. The last man standing in this one would become the brand new TV champ. C.W. Anderson made a big impact from the start, crotching Super Crazy on the top rope and then eliminating him with his trademark hard left hand. Anderson then send Tajiri out of the ring soon after with a nice superkick. Bam Bam Bigelow, the biggest man in the bout, Gorilla pressed Too Cold Scorpio from the ring to the floor. Chris Jericho disposed of Dean Malenko and Eddy Guerrero in quick succession. The fans were starting to get behind CM Punk, who sent J.T. Smith from the ring with a backdrop to a loud ovation. Balls Mahoney got rid of Bigelow, but Balls himself was eliminated courtesy of a well-placed spinning heel kick from Jericho. Punk threw Kid Kash from the fray after a backbreaker. The Pitbulls, individually former TV title holders themselves, were working together and eliminated Terry Funk and Nova. However, as they worked over CM Punk, Punk ducked a clothesline and Pitbull 1 sent his tag team partner over the top rope to the floor! As Pitbull 1 tried to offer an apology to Pitbull 2, Punk sneaked up from behind and dumped him out! It was down to four men: Chris Jericho, C.W. Anderson, Jerry Lynn and CM Punk and the crowd was firmly behind the debutant. Punk got rid of the Enforcer after a vicious chop, while soon afterward Jericho was eliminated by Lynn. Punk and Lynn went at it back and forth for the right to be crowned the new ECW World Television Champion and now the crowd were split down the middle over who to support. Lynn went for a TKO, but Punk slid down and planted the New F'N Show with a Soviet suplex. Punk tried to lock in his Anaconda Vice submission finisher, but Lynn was able to fight out of it. Lynn went for the Cradle Piledriver, but Punk backdropped him over the top rope and onto the ring apron. As Lynn attempted to collect his bearings, Punk sent him to the floor with a high knee to win the battle royal and the TV Title.

In the bowels of the ECW Arena, Raven gave a typically nihilistic and sadistic interview, claiming it was his destiny to regain the ECW Title here this evening. He threatened to turn the Elimination Chamber into his own personal Clockwork Orange House of Fun.

Tommy Dreamer made his way out to the ring to address the crowd and he was given a nice ovation. The Innovator of Violence was almost moved to tears by the reception he was getting. Dreamer thanked the fans for turning out this evening and helping support this new era for the tribe of extreme. He said it was down to them that this had all been possible and with their continued support they could make ECW bigger and better than ever.
Just then, a familiar annoying and whining voice interrupted Dreamer's speech. The voice belonged to none other than "The King of Old School" Steve Corino, who was greeted with a "You suck dick!" chant. Corino was accompanied by his wingman Jack Victory. Corino berated Dreamer for being a broken down old cripple and claimed that the only reason he held down a job in ECW for so many years was because he was "Paul E's rent boy". Dreamer challenged Corino to step in the ring with him so he could show Corino just how broken down he really was. Corino balked at the challenge, so Dreamer left the ring to get Corino with the crowd cheering him on.
Tommy Dreamer went straight after Steve Corino in the aisle and the two men traded punches. Jack Victory tried to get involved but Dreamer smashed his and Corino's heads together. Dreamer threw Corino into the ring and demanded that the referee call for the bell, signaling the start of this impromptu match!

Tommy Dreamer vs. Steve Corino

Match highlights:
Tommy Dreamer dominated Steve Corino in the early-going. Corino bailed to the floor, where Dreamer doused him with beer and used weapons that several ringsiders had brought along, like a keyboard and a frying pan. Corino turned the tide by crotching Dreamer on the steel guardrail and Jack Victory decked the prone Innovator of Violence with a vicious right hand. The King of Old School ran Dreamer head-first into the ring post, busting Dreamer open. Corino went to work on the cut, scratching and biting the open wound. Corino scored a couple of near falls with a nice fisherman suplex and a superkick. Corino tried to put Dreamer away with the Old School Expulsion, but Dreamer shoved him off and clotheslined him over the top rope. Corino tried to suplex Dreamer on the floor, but Dreamer blocked it and planted Corino with the Dreamer DDT on the cold hard concrete. Corino was juicing an absolute gusher! The crowd were loving the action and Dreamer was whipping them into a frenzy. Back between the ropes, Dreamer nailed Corino with the Dreamer Driver and made the cover. The referee's hand was about to strike the mat for the third time, but Jack Victory pulled him out of the ring. The fans jeered as Victory and the official argued at ringside. Suddenly, Abyss hit the ring!!! The crowd were in stunned silence as Dreamer walked straight into the Black Hole Slam!!! Abyss bailed out as a bloody Corino crawled over and pinned Dreamer for the win.

Steve Corino pinned Tommy Dreamer in 0:08:33.
Rating: ** 3/4
[Jack Victory and Abyss interfered against Tommy Dreamer.]

After the bout, an ecstatic Steve Corino took the mic and stood over a disorientated Tommy Dreamer. He introduced Dreamer to his own "Extreme Monster" Abyss and took great delight in informing everyone that he was the only one who could control him. Corino slapped Dreamer across the face and left with Abyss and Jack Victory much to the disgust of the Philly faithful.

Backstage, Rob Van Dam and Sabu cut a promo, along with their manager Bill Alfonso. Van Dam vowed to go through anyone who stood in his way, even his own tag team partner Sabu, in order to win the ECW Title. Fonzie spent the rest of the interview trying to stop Sabu and RVD coming to blows.

Next up was a special attraction match featuring six of the stars of the Dragon Gate promotion in Japan, who have come to visit ECW to do battle in Trios action. They are DoFIXER (Ryo Saito, Dragon Kid and Genki Horiguchi) and Blood Generation (CIMA, Don Fujii and Shingo Takagi), the two top factions in Dragon Gate and this is the longest standing feud in that promotion. Joey Styles proceeded to give some background information on the wrestlers involved.
Ryo Saito is the current ace and the Open the Dream Gate champion, as well as the new leader of the DoFIXER babyface stable. An intense and fiery babyface, he truly embodies the fighting spirit. He loves the Dragon Suplex Hold and his top finish is the Premium Bridge (a vicious full nelson suplex hold). He also uses rolling fishermans, a fisherman spinebuster and has a finely polished lariat. He had a breakout year last year.
Dragon Kid is one of the finest high-flyers to come along in a long, long time. He had the same level of innovation in his offence when he broke onto the scene in 1999 that Rey Mysterio did when he broke onto the scene. He was the one-time successor to the Dragon lineage from Ultimo as well. Dragon Kid uses many variations of the rana and in addition, has a nasty ability to hit the stunner from almost any position, making it a dangerous counter. His finishing hold is still the Dragonrana and when done right, few moves look better.
Genki Horiguchi is one of the most charismatic babyfaces in the business. When he began losing his hair, he turned a negative into a positive and adopted his impending baldness as a mantra and a catchphrase. His favourite finisher is also one of the most over moves in Dragon Gate and it's the Kami No Yadoru backslide (the Backslide from Heaven). For a little more impact, he also uses the Beach Break (essentially an Alabama Slam piledriver, with the opponent draped over your back).
CIMA is the leader of the Blood Generation heel stable (pure blood, fitness, better than YOU) and one of the standard bearers of Dragon Gate, and Japanese juniors in general. He is a filthy good rudo and one of Ultimo Dragon's two original prodigies (along with Magnum Tokyo). CIMA's moveset is extensive, but his most common finish is the Schwein (Kryptonite Krunch/Air Raid Crash/etc.). He also uses the Venus punch (roll-through shoryuken palm strike to his opponent on the turnbuckle) and Iconoclasm (flipping slam off the turnbuckle) to set up for his secondary finish, the Mad Splash (D-Lo's Low Down frog splash). He also uses many variations of the double stomp and a thrust superkick in transitions.
Shingo Takagi is the first graduate of the Dragon Gate dojo. He was recruited and trained mainly by CIMA. He comes from a bodybuilding background, having won several junior championships as a bodybuilder. Shingo has awed fans with his ability after only one year. His future seems limitless. Takagi's favourite moves include the Last Falcony (a Wrist clutch style Angle/Olympic slam type drop), the Blood Fall (a modified spicy drop, with the legs and arms of the victim trapped) and the Pumping Bomber (a Lariat/Axe Bomber with pump up appeal).
Last but not least, Don Fujii is an original graduate and the founding member of Crazy MAX. Fujii has developed into a lovable personality, although his kleptomania has become notorious. His trademark moves are the Nodowa Elbow (a combination choke slam and elbow drop) and the Nice German, a simple German suplex, called Nice simply because it is nice.

When the two teams had made their entrances, the ECW fans welcomed them by throwing streamers into the ring, which was a nice touch.

Special Attraction Dragon Gate Trios Match:
Do FIXER (Dragon Kid, Genki Horiguchi and Ryo Saito) vs. Blood Generation (CIMA, Don Fujii and Shingo Takagi)

Match highlights:
The match was absolutely incredible and featured some of the quickest action and innovative moves you will ever see anywhere. The crowd just lapped it up. It was fought under Dragon Gate rules, meaning no tags were necessary. The fans got behind Do FIXER and in particular Genki Horiguchi, chanting "H-A-G-E!" (the Japanese word for bald) at him to give him strength. The crowd also chanted "This is awesome!" and "Please don't stop!" during several points of the bout. In the end, Blood Generation emerged victorious. CIMA used a flying double foot stomp on Genki while Fujii and Takagi held him on their shoulders. CIMA then took Ryo Saito out of the corner with a lung blower before blocking Dragon Kid's attempted Dragonrana and dropping him with the match-winning Schwein.

After the match, there were handshakes all around between the six competitors. What a show they had put on here tonight at Barely Legal. They all bowed to the crowd, who were giving them all a richly deserved standing ovation.

Backstage, The Sandman was puffing on a cigarette and clutching his Singapore cane. He claimed that tonight was his night to prove why exactly he is a former four time ECW World Heavyweight Champion and the Hardcore Icon...and why he's damn proud of it. He then shotgunned his can of beer and crushed it into his forehead, causing himself to bleed. The Sandman closed the segment by spitting beer into the camera lens.

As the ring crew put the finishing touches to the demonic Elimination Chamber structure and the participants began to make their entrances, Joey Styles gave a rundown of the rules to this match. In the Elimination Chamber, the ring is surrounded by a steel structure of chain and girders, but is circular allowing for four inner chambers to be placed on the apron with platforms keeping the wrestlers from the floor. The match will be contested by six wrestlers, two beginning the match and the other four in the glass chambers. After a predetermined amount of time (two minutes) a chamber opens at random and a wrestler is added to the two already competing, and this continues until all men are released. Wrestlers are eliminated by pinfall or submission, often leading to some being eliminated before every wrestler is released into the match, and the winner is the final man left after all others have been eliminated. That man will be crowned the new ECW World Heavyweight Champion. Now, with this being an Extreme Elimination Chamber Match, in addition to all that steel there are weapons laid out throughout the chamber, such as chairs, tables, a ladder and a barbed wire board, for the combatants to use.
Joey Styles and Cyrus put over the brutality we were about to witness. Styles said that the chamber was composed of 10 tons of steel and 2 miles of chain and called it "the place careers go to die". Cyrus referred to it as "The Devil's Playground".

The Sandman was the last man to be introduced and the crowd were loving his five minute beer swilling entrance which covered just about the entire arena. Suddenly, while The Sandman was preoccupied with pouring a Bud down a lucky fan's throat, Rhino burst through the arena doors and knocked the Hardcore Icon off his perch on the guardrail! The fans booed Rhino out of the building as he destroyed The Sandman in the aisle and dragged him up onto the sound stage. Rhino flipped off the fans and then annihilated The Sandman with a piledriver off the stage through a table!!!
The crowd were shocked, but then exploded in a "Holy sh*t!" chant. Rhino stormed down to the ring and threw the chamber door open. He immediately attacked Taz, who had been scheduled to start the bout. The other four competitors were locked inside their glass chambers. The referee was unsure what to do as Paul Heyman came out. He checked on the condition of The Sandman, which wasn't good. The official looked at Heyman for guidance and the boss replied by reluctantly telling him to ring the bell! Rhino is officially a part of the Elimination Chamber!!

Extreme Elimination Chamber Match for the vacant ECW World Heavyweight Championship:
Raven vs. Rhino vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Sabu vs. Shane Douglas vs. Taz

Match highlights:
Rhino pounded Taz as the bell rang and the other four competitors in the match took their places in the glass chambers. Rhino hit Taz with a side suplex and a hard spinebuster, but Taz rallied back with a drop toe hold and then started throwing the Man Beast around with a series of suplexes.
As the first two minutes of the contest expired, Sabu was released into the fray to a huge ovation. He immediately grabbed a steel chair and launched it at Taz and then Rhino. The Human Highlight Reel hit Rhino with a springboard legdrop and went for a ropeflip moonsault on Taz, but Taz got his knees up. Taz hooked Sabu up in a head and arm Tazplex. Rhino dropped Taz with a wicked clothesline to the back of the head.
The door with Shane Douglas behind it opened and The Franchise was now officially introduced to the bout. With Francine cheering him on, Douglas raked Taz's eyes and choked him. Sabu floored Rhino with a springboard leg lariat. Shane Douglas dropkicked Taz and hit him with the chair. Douglas tried to run Taz head-first into one of the metal girders, but Taz reversed it and The Franchise was busted open. Meanwhile, Rhino opened up a gash on Sabu's forehead by grinding his head against the cage.
Raven was the next man to enter the contest. He took Rhino down with a swinging neckbreaker onto the steel and he used a bulldog on Taz. Raven took Douglas down with a flying dropkick and then set up a table in the corner. Sabu bodyslammed Raven and climbed to the top turnbuckle with a steel chair in hand, but Taz took him down with an awesome super overhead belly-to-belly Tazplex. Ever the opportunist, Douglas went for the pin on Sabu but Sabu kicked out. Taz dropped Douglas with an STO.
The roof then almost came off the ECW Arena as Rob Van Dam, the only man in this match never to have held the ECW World Heavyweight Title, became the final entrant in this Extreme Elimination Match. RVD nailed Taz with a monkey flip and hit a double underhook faceslam on Rhino. RVD hit Shane Douglas with a springboard spinning legdrop. Sabu sent Douglas over the top rope with a clothesline and hit a springboard DDT onto the steel grating. Taz executed a leg capture Tazplex on Van Dam. Rhino kicked Raven low and DDTed him. Taz put RVD through the table that had been propped up in the corner with an overhead belly-to-belly Tazplex. Douglas used a snap suplex on Raven on the steel and raked his face across the cage, busting him open. Rob Van Dam brought a ladder into play and kicked it into Raven's face. He then hit a pescado onto Raven and the ladder. Sabu nailed Rhino with an Asai leg lariat. The Human Highlight Reel commandeered the ladder and hit an Arabian Facebuster on the ladder onto the Man Beast. Sabu then applied the camel clutch on the ladder on Rhino. RVD hit a slingshot legdrop onto a chair on Taz. Raven drove Shane Douglas into the chain link fence with a Russian legsweep. Sabu followed up with an Asai moonsault onto the Franchise. Rhino power bombed Raven through another table. Douglas capitalised by executing the belly-to-belly suplex on Raven but instead of going for the pin straight away, he gave the Triple Threat sign and enticed the crowd. Taz then came from behind and applied the Tazmission on Douglas to a huge roar from the crowd! The Human Suplex Machine quickly choked out the Franchise, eliminating Douglas from the Elimination Chamber!
Shane Douglas was beside himself with rage and he argued with the officials as he was escorted from the steel structure. Taz began to go to work on Sabu and he set up a barbed wire board against the cage. The Human Suplex Machine then sent Sabu through the board with a devastating T-Bone Tazplex! The crowd erupted in a "Holy sh*t!" chant as Sabu thrashed around with the barbs, shredding and tearing his flesh. Taz then walked into a brutal Gore from Rhino. The Man Beast quickly used a piledriver off the second rope onto a steel chair to eliminate Taz.
Rob Van Dam threw Raven into the ladder and then monkey flipped the ladder onto Raven in a cool spot. However, the Whole F'N Show missed Rolling Thunder onto the ladder and Van Dam hit the ladder hard. Sabu nailed Raven with a somersault legdrop with a chair and went for the Triple Jump Moonsault, but Raven countered with a drop toe hold onto the chair. As Raven took the chair to set up for something else, Van Dam unleashed the Van Daminator on Raven for the pinfall. Three men left!
Rhino, who had been in from the very start, seemed to be getting a second wind. He rattled RVD's spine with a power bomb and hit another piledriver. Rhino set up yet another table in the corner and he punished Sabu with a belly-to-belly suplex. The Man Beast hit Sabu with another sickening piledriver and then Gored him through the table. Rhino easily pinned Sabu, leaving him alone with Rob Van Dam to determine the new ECW World Heavyweight Champion. Could Paul Heyman's worst nightmare come true? Could Rhino win the title??
The fans were solidly behind Rob Van Dam. RVD caught Rhino's attempted kick to the midsection and he stepped through, kicking Rhino in the face. Van Dam used a springboard moonsault and a split-legged moonsault, but Rhino refused to stay down for the three count. Van Dam threw Rhino a chair for the Van Daminator, but Rhino ducked and smashed RVD in the face with the chair! Rhino threw RVD from the ring into the steel cage. Rhino repeatedly bashed Van Dam's head into the steel. The barely conscious Van Dam slumped against one of the glass chambers. Rhino lined up the Gore, but Van Dam moved at the last second and Rhino crashed through the "bullet proof" glass!!! Another "holy sh*t" chant. RVD kicked Rhino back into the ring and leapt to the top turnbuckle with all the agility of a cat. Rob Van Dam pointed to himself and then hit the Five Star Frog Splash for the pinfall! Rob Van Dam is the new ECW World Heavyweight Champion!!!

Card observations:
What a return for Extreme Championship Wrestling here tonight at Barely Legal, despite Rhino's best efforts to ruin things. At the end of the night it was Rob Van Dam who survived the Extreme Elimination Chamber, outlasting five other men to capture the ECW World Heavyweight Championship. Congratulations to the Whole F'N Show - nobody could ever begrudge him this win, the biggest victory of his entire career.

But what of Rhino? As far as we know he has not been signed to a contract and will not be seen again. He really did a number on The Sandman tonight in order to steal his spot in the Elimination Chamber. Paul Heyman has vowed to put things right and has named the Hardcore ICON as the number one contender to the ECW World Heavyweight Title. The Sandman will receive his title shot at the next available opportunity.

Another man who felt Rhino's wrath tonight was the debuting Pac, who along with Teddy Hart and Mistico put on a fantastic high-flying duel. Pac has suffered a stinger as a result of the post-match attack by the Man Beast and will be out for some time, but we look forward to more exciting cruiserweight encounters over the next few months featuring these three men.

CM Punk claimed the vacant ECW Television Title this evening by winning the twenty-man over the top rope battle royal. Punk joins ECW with quite an extraordinary reputation. We'll see how long he can hold on to that title as there are no shortage of challengers queuing up for their shot at the belt.

Steve Corino has brought "The Extreme Monster" Abyss to ECW, as Tommy Dreamer found out to his cost tonight. Dreamer has sworn to get revenge on Abyss and Corino. We all know that Dreamer has never backed down from a challenge, but this may be the biggest challenge of his career.

The Impact Players, Justin Credible and Lance Storm, took the vacant ECW World Tag Team Titles by defeating Danny Doring and Roadkill. Storm and Credible used some questionable tactics both in that match and the opening Four Way Elimination bout. There are some angry teams in ECW right now and they want to get their hands on the new champs.

Apparently, Shane Douglas has some sort of announcement to make after tonight's events. We do not have any details regarding what this may be about.

That's about it from Barely Legal. We hope you'll join us next time!

I have to say my first impression was "oh great, how original, a 'rebirth of ECW' fed, let's nod and smile politely" but you've captured this really well. The inpromtu matches, the high flying stuff, the hardcore stuff (none of the pure mat stuff, though the tag title match was on those lines, but the show was pretty jampacked as it was so there's plenty of time yet), Rhino being a jerk, pretty much what you'd expect from an ECW card.

Hopefully you'll be able to prevent a lot of these guys getting lost in the shuffle as the roster is overflowing with guys but as a first show goes, I really enjoyed this. And a good job you had all the weapons in the main, else I'm not sure how a WWE creation would have gone down.

ECW Chapter 2
May 13th, 2006
ECW Arena, Philadelphia, PA.

Tonight at the jam-packed ECW Arena on the corner of Ritner Street and Swanson Street in South Philadelphia, The Sandman gets his shot at Rob Van Dam's ECW World Heavyweight Championship in our main event. Also tonight, CM Punk defends the ECW Television Title against Jerry Lynn and in a rematch from last month's Barely Legal PPV, The Impact Players put their tag team gold on the line against Danny Doring and Roadkill.

The Full Blooded Italians vs. The Spanish Announce Team

Match highlights:
The opening tag team contest featured the ECW debut of the Spanish Announce Team consisting of brothers Joel and Jose Maximo. Both the Maximo brothers were trained by current ECW star Mikey Whipwreck. They were going up against the devious former ECW Tag Team Champions The Full Blooded Italians, Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke, accompanied by Big Sal.
The crowd took to the SATs instantly due to their innovative tandem offence. Both Maximos held Tony Mamaluke with a stretch muffler before swinging him over into a face plant, a move they call the Washing Machine. Joel held Little Guido in a shoulder mount hold while Jose hit him with a flying DDT out of that position - the Maximo Explosion. Joel then hit a reverse waterwheel drop on Mamaluke while Jose added a running neckbreaker to drive Mamaluke's head into the mat. The Maximos set up for something else but Big Sal tripped them both up and the FBI scored with stereo bullet dropkicks into the debutants' faces. Guido and Mamaluke used a couple of Paisan elbowdrops before Guido went for the Kiss of Death, but Joel blocked it and hit the Maximo Overdrive, a backbreaker into a sit out double underhook facebuster. The SATs crotched Mamaluke on the top turnbuckle and then hit the amazing Spanish Fly for an extremely impressive victory.

Mistico vs. Teddy Hart

Match highlights:
These two high-flyers, along with Pac, almost stole the show at Barely Legal with their cruiserweight three way dance. This match-up between Mistico and Teddy Hart was just as fast-paced and action-packed. Mistico dominated early with a quick succession of armdrags, a springboard dropkick and a spinning headscissors. Hart came back with a double-arm DDT, a Frankensteiner from the top rope and a Skytwister press for a very close two count. Hart crashed and burned on a Triple Bypass attempt and Mistico almost beat him with a springboard rana. Mistico went for a Frankensteiner, but Teddy blocked it and then kicked Mistico low. The crowd turned on Hart as he hit Mistico with the Stu Hart Special (a Gory special into a sitout power bomb) and then defeated his masked foe with the Open Hart Surgery.

Teddy Hart pinned Mistico with the Open Hart Surgery in 0:09:34.
Rating: *** 1/2

After the match, Steve Corino led "The Extreme Monster" Abyss down to the ring. Teddy Hart and Mistico froze as Abyss entered the squared circle. Corino was giggling like a schoolgirl. Suddenly, Hart shoved Mistico into the direction of Abyss and fled the ring to a torrent of abuse from the crowd. Abyss lifted Mistico up and dropped him with the Shock Treatment, while Corino laughed his ass off. The King of Old School then produced a bag of thumbtacks and spread them all over the ring. Abyss was set to turn Mistico into a human pin cushion when Tommy Dreamer hit the ring for the save. Dreamer was armed with a Singapore cane and he floored Corino with it, before turning his attention to Abyss. He cracked the Extreme Monster three times in the head with the cane, but Abyss refused to go down! Instead, Abyss growled and flexed his muscles at Dreamer. The Innovator of Violence charged at Abyss with the cane, but Abyss hooked him up and planted him on the pile of tacks with the Black Hole Slam!! Dreamer thrashed about on the canvas in agony with tacks embedded in his arms and back as the crowd chanted, "Holy sh*t!" Corino returned to the ring and put Dreamer face first into the thumbtacks, before brutally stomping on Dreamer's head. The King of Old School revelled in the jeers of the fans and led Abyss out of the ring, leaving Tommy Dreamer lying with tacks on his face, chest and back.

Number-One-Contenders Table Elimination Three Way Dance:
Public Enemy vs. The Dudley Boys vs. The Eliminators

Match highlights:
The rules in this one were simple - for a team to be eliminated one member of that team had to be put through a table. This bout was the pier-six brawl that everybody expected. It began with all six participants brawling through the crowd. In one sick spot, Buh Buh Ray Dudley and Johnny Grunge used a cheese grater to slice each other's heads open. Rocco Rock and John Kronus traded road sign shots. Kronus tried to put Grunge through a table with a flying legdrop, but Grunge moved out of the way before Kronus took to the air. Buh Buh used the Buh Buh Bomb on Saturn while D-Von laid out Rocco Rock with a DDT. Grunge choked Kronus with a toilet seat. Public Enemy were the first team to be eliminated after Grunge took the 3-D through a table.
Perry Saturn tried to put D-Von through a table with the Saturnsault, but Buh Buh pulled his half brother off the hardware. With the crowd firmly behind them, Saturn and Kronus began to look dangerous. Saturn executed a Death Valley Driver on D-Von and then Kronus followed up with a flying corkscrew splash. The Eliminators took Buh Buh out with the Total Elimination on a trash can. Finally, Saturn set D-Von up on table and Kronus sent him crashing through it with a 450 splash, earning a Tag Team Title shot for The Eliminators.

Table Number-One-Contenders-Triangle Match:
The Eliminators (John Kronus and Perry Saturn) defeated
The Dudley Boys (Buh Buh Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley) and
Public Enemy (Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge):
x D-Von beat Grunge via putting him through a table in 0:10:22
x Kronus beat D-Von via putting him through a table in 0:15:00
Rating: ** 3/4

Sabu vs. Kid Kash

Match highlights:
This match-up between two of the most reckless grapplers in ECW was fought at a frenetic pace. Kid Kash took over with a beautiful springboard somersault dropkick and a springboard moonsault, but failed to find the mark with a frog splash. Sabu nailed Kash with an enzuigiri and an Asai leg lariat. Kash scored with a nice flying rana for a near fall. Sabu executed the Triple Jump Moonsault on Kash and then pinned him after an atomic Arabian Facebuster through a table.

Sabu pinned Kid Kash after an Arabian Facebuster in 0:06:18.

Shane Douglas, accompanied by "The Queen of Extreme" Francine, made his way out to the ring to a mixed reaction. Douglas took the mic and demanded that the music be cut. The Franchise claimed that he and not Rob Van Dam should be the ECW World Heavyweight Champion. He said that he was attacked and choked out from behind by Taz in the Extreme Elimination Chamber. Douglas revealed that what had happened at Barely Legal had made his realise what he had to do. He needed someone to watch his back, so he was going to bring back the most dominant force in ECW history, the Triple Threat! Douglas and Francine both held up three fingers as the crowd chanted "Triple Threat!"

ECW Tag Team Title Match:
The Impact Players vs. Danny Doring and Roadkill

Match highlights:
Danny Doring and Roadkill were clearly fired up for this one after their loss to the Impact Players last month and dominated the early going of this one. The tide turned in the favour of the champs went Doring missed a shoulderblock in the corner and hit the steel ring post. Justin Credible and Lance Storm went in for the kill on the injured shoulder like two sharks that smelled blood. However, when Credible went for a pumphandle suplex, Doring wriggled free and took him down with the G-Spot Sweep. Doring made the hot tag to Roadkill and the Angry Amish Warrior cleaned house on the champs. Roadkill used a running sitout power bomb on Credible and hit Storm with the Dirt Road Slam. After executing the Barn Burner on Lance Storm, Doring and Roadkill nailed Storm with the Buggy Bang. Roadkill made the cover, but Dawn Marie had the referee distracted. Doring went to protest while Jason tossed one of the tag belts to Justin Credible. Credible came off the top rope and struck Roadkill in the back of the head with the belt. The Impact Players then doubled up on Doring and drilled him with the Deep Impact to retain the titles. Credible and Storm were again booed heavily, their filthy tactics not appreciated by the fans on hand at the ECW Arena.

CM Punk came out to the ring to a good ovation with the ECW World Television Championship strapped around his waist. He entered the ring and took the microphone. Punk cut a promo, explaining his straight-edge lifestyle and that he is obsessed with wrestling and competition. He said that he was raised on the streets of Chicago and had to fight for everything he has, just like he fought last month at Barely Legal to claim the TV Title. Punk claimed that nobody could take it away from him.

ECW World Television Title Match:
CM Punk vs. Jerry Lynn

Match highlights:
This match began with some flawless chain wrestling which brought the crowd to their feet. Jerry Lynn dived onto CM Punk with a tremendous running somersault plancha. Lynn used a monkey flip and a legsweep on the champion, but Punk came back and scrambled Lynn's brains with an enzuigiri. Punk dropped Lynn with a Russian legsweep and applied the .45 Special, but Lynn fought out of the hold. Punk kept the pressure on with a slingshot somersault senton and the Pepsi Twist. Lynn fought back with a Northern Lights suplex and a guillotine legdrop over the middle rope. Punk backdropped his way out of a cradle piledriver attempt and locked on a Fujiwara armbar, but Lynn reached the ropes. The TV champion hit the Devil Lock DDT and a split-legged moonsault. The New F'N Show picked up a succession of near falls with a brain buster, a German suplex and an Air Raid Crash. Lynn went for the TKO but Punk countered it into a sick DDT. Punk clocked Lynn with a Shining Wizard and then quickly applied the Anaconda Vice! Jerry Lynn battled valiantly in the hold, but eventually stopped responding to the referee. Jim Molineaux had no option but to stop the match and award it to CM Punk.

CM Punk defeated Jerry Lynn when J. Lynn passed out in the Anaconda Vice in 0:18:00.

Taz vs. Mikey Whipwreck

Match highlights:
Taz made short work of Mikey Whipwreck in a bout he totally dominated. Mikey missed a flying cross body early on and The Human Suplex Machine punished him with a spinebuster and a vicious lariat. The fans were loving this imposing performance by Taz. Taz hit a Hardway Tazplex and a cobra clutch Tazplex before signalling the end and locking on the Tazmission.

Taz made Mikey Whipwreck submit to the Tazmission in 0:03:29.
Rating: ***

After the match, Taz made it clear that he wanted the ECW Title around his waist and that he was coming for Rob Van Dam.

The Sandman and Rob Van Dam made their long winded entrances ahead of this ECW World Heavyweight Title Match. There was certainly a big match atmosphere inside the ECW Arena and the crowd appeared to be split in their support of either man, two of the most popular babyfaces in ECW history. As Steven DeAngelis prepared to introduce both competitors, Rhino hit the ring from out of nowhere and Gored the ring announcer! The crowd booed Rhino out of the building. The Sandman caned the hell out of Rhino with his trusty Singapore cane, but Rhino shook off the blows and Gored the Hardcore Icon! Rhino dragged The Sandman out of the ring and threw him into the guardrail. Rhino then hit The Sandman with a dangerous piledriver on the concrete floor, knocking The Sandman unconscious! Rhino stared a hole through Rob Van Dam and said that Van Dam had "his" belt. RVD challenged him to come and get it, but just as Rhino began to climb back into the ring, an army of police officers grabbed him and put him in handcuffs. The crowd voiced their disapproval and demanded that they "Let them go!" - they wanted to see RVD vs. Rhino. RVD watched a fuming Rhino get dragged out of the building when suddenly Raven arrived on the scene and jumped the champion from behind. Raven threatened the referee, ordering him to start the match. Without much choice, the referee called for the bell and Rob Van Dam vs. Raven for the ECW Title got underway as The Sandman was helped to the back for medical attention.

ECW World Heavyweight Title Match:
Rob Van Dam vs. Raven

Match highlights:
Raven went outside the ring and returned with a trash can and a steel chair. He dented the trash can over RVD's head and planted the champion with a swinging neckbreaker onto the chair. Raven blasted Van Dam with a drop toe hold onto the chair. Raven used a kneedrop and then suplexed Van Dam. Raven took Van Dam to the outside and whipped him into the guardrail several times. RVD took a Russian legsweep into the rail and then Raven set up a table. Van Dam fought back with a succession of kicks and then he dumped Raven across the guardrail, setting him up for a spinning legdrop from the apron.
Back in the ring, The Whole F'N Show scored with a springboard spinning leg lariat and a monkey flip onto the chair. RVD used the chair to skateboard into Raven's face, causing Raven to bleed. Van Dam picked up a near fall with a split legged moonsault. Raven rolled out of the way on the Rolling Thunder and RVD hit the chair hard. Raven set Van Dam up on the table and put RVD through it with a running plancha. Van Dam kicked out at two on the resulting pin attempt. RVD countered a power bomb attempt on the chair with a rana and Van Dam hit Raven with a step-over heel kick. With the crowd firmly behind him, RVD connected with a cartwheel into a standing moonsault and a corkscrew legdrop. Van Dam pointed to himself as the fans said his name and he leapt to the top rope for the Five Star Frog Splash. However, Raven foiled Van Dam's plans by kicking referee John "Pee Wee" Moore into the ropes, causing the champion to lose his balance and crotch himself on the top turnbuckle. Bill Alfonso jumped onto the apron and threw another chair at Raven. Raven caught it though and took a swing at Alfonso but missed. Raven then turned straight into a Van Daminator from the top rope, before Van Dam finished Raven off with the frog splash.

Rob Van Dam pinned Raven with the Five Star Frog Splash in 0:10:53.
Rating: ** 3/4
(Rob Van Dam retained the ECW World Heavyweight Championship.)
[Bill Alfonso interfered against Raven.]

Rob Van Dam celebrated his first title defence with vigour as the fans chanted his name. The festivities were to be short lived though as Rhino burst back in through the arena doors, still handcuffed and chased by police officers. Rhino hurled a torrent of abuse at Van Dam and threatened to kill him in order to get his title back. Van Dam again dared him to get in the ring, but Rhino was hauled back outside again to another volley of displeasure from the crowd.

Card rating: *** 1/2

Card observations:
Paul Heyman has stated that Rob Van Dam will categorically, positively and definitely defend his ECW World Heavyweight Title against The Sandman next month at our WrestlePalooza show. This announcement came after Rhino once again ruined the ECW Title main event here this evening at Chapter 2 and Paul E is adamant that this will not happen again. Heyman has said that if Rhino seriously wants to come back to ECW, sign a contract and challenge for the belt that he feels belongs to him, then he will let next month's show pass without incident. If I were a betting man, I wouldn't be putting my money on that happening.

Jerry Lynn is livid with referee Jim Molineaux for stopping his TV Title Match with CM Punk after he passed out in the Anaconda Vice. Molineaux really had no choice, but the New F'N Show wants a rematch with Punk because he wasn't pinned and didn't submit. Fighting champion Punk has granted Lynn's wishes and the two men will clash again for the gold at WrestlePalooza.

The Tag Team Titles will also be on the line at WrestlePalooza as The Impact Players defend against The Eliminators. Justin Credible and Lance Storm only just escaped with the straps tonight after a controversial win against former champs Danny Doring and Roadkill, while The Eliminators earned their title opportunity by winning that crazy Table Elimination Match.

Taz and Sabu both put forward a good case for a future World Title shot with impressive victories here this evening.

The first match signed for our next pay-per-view, Heatwave, will see Tommy Dreamer going up against "The Extreme Monster" Abyss. Expect this one to be bloody and violent, especially after the brutal beatdown Dreamer received tonight. Dreamer will be out for revenge at Heatwave, but he may not need to wait that long as both men will be on hand at WrestlePalooza.

Shane Douglas vowed to reform the Triple Threat tonight - rumour has it that they could show up at WrestlePalooza. We'll keep you informed if we hear any more developments.

Teddy Hart needed some underhanded tactics to defeat Mistico tonight, but his actions after the bout where he fed Mistico to Abyss were even more deplorable. The ECW fans turned on Teddy tonight, which is a shame because he is so talented.

The Spanish Announce Team looked good in their debut win over the FBI this evening. Mikey Whipwreck must be very proud of his protégés.

We'll see you at WrestlePalooza! Until then, so long everybody!!
91Posted on 08/24/06 at 22:07:55

Nice opener, but nothing I can really add there.

Teddy Hart is being built as a nice sneaky heel and you did the absolutely right thing in having him sacrifice Mistico to Abyss as Hart doesn't need to be squashed right now. Corino is looking good now though and a feud with Dreamer opens plenty of possibilities.

Good for the Eliminators. The Dudleys seemed like the obvious choice in a "TOO obvious" sort of way though I'm sure they'll get their run in due course. Decent little spot fest here too.

Sabu/Kash reminds me of that time Sabu returned to face Hack Myers - NOBODY gave Myers a chance and though Sabu won, he got a good fight given to him. Same deal here.

Triple Threat? Nice, that's one thing we've missed so far. Question is, which version? Both Malenko and Bigelow were seen in the TV title battle royal whereas Benoit and Candido haven't been sighted yet. The Benoit/Malenko brand is the obvious one, but I'll keep the jury out until they explode onto the scene in some shape or form.

The Impacts reign has gotten off the mark very well. Naturally they'll need bigger and better opposition but Doring and Roadkill have been beaten fairly substantially.

CM Punk has also been built up well in the opening two shows and ought to be a strong TV champ. Still, glad to see Lynn get plenty of his though.

Taz, yeah, figured he'd pop up sooner or later. I'm guessing poor old Mikey WON'T be a super-duper star in this version of ECW then.

Ahhh, the overbooked inpromtu-ness of the main event, that was all VERY ECW. Rhino has been the feds star player so far by far so I wait with baited breath to see what happens with him and Van Dam down the road. And poor old Sandy, what's the guy got to do to even get as far as having a match, let alone a title shot?

ECW WrestlePalooza
June 3rd, 2006
ECW Arena, Philadelphia, PA.

The Spanish Announce Team vs. Kid Kash and Super Crazy

Match highlights:
WrestlePalooza opened with a fantastic high-flying aerial battle between the SATs and the team of two former ECW Television Champions, Kid Kash and Super Crazy. The bout featured tremendously original tandem offence from both teams, including a wild series of dives to the floor that was punctuated by a springboard somersault plancha by Kid Kash onto the other three men. Crazy hit his trifecta of moonsaults on Jose Maximo for a near fall, while Kash blasted Joel Maximo with a superb flying rana. The Maximos nailed Kash with a double bulldog. Jose hoisted Crazy up into a fireman's carry and Joel connected with a flying double foot stomp to the back of the Extreme Luchador's head! The SATs then hit Kash with the Maximo Explosion and finished him off with the Spanish Fly.

Super Crazy and Kid Kash shook hands with their opponents and congratulated them on their win. They then left the Maximos to enjoy the adulation of the crowd. Suddenly, the FBI of Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke hit the ring to beat down the Spanish Announce Team. Guido and Mamaluke had evidently not taken their loss to the Maximos last month very well and were hell-bent on extracting some revenge. Mikey Whipwreck made his way out to make the save for his students. He took Guido down with a FrankenMikey and dropped Mamaluke with an inverted suplex, before sending both Full Blooded Italians packing with a Whippersnapper each. Mikey checked on the condition of the Maximos as the fans chanted his name.

C.W. Anderson vs. Too Cold Scorpio

Match highlights:
Afetr an early flurry by Scorpio, C.W. Anderson seized control of this match by methodically going to work on Scorpio's right arm. C.W. hit a wheelbarrow suplex and went for the spinebuster, but Scorpio countered with a DDT. Scorpio went to work with a butterfly suplex, a somersault legdrop and a superkick before scoring the win with the Flying Scorpio Splash.

Too Cold Scorpio pinned C.W. Anderson with the Flying Scorpio Splash in 0:05:38

Rating: *** 1/2

ECW Tag Team Title Match:
The Impact Players vs. The Eliminators

Match highlights:
The Eliminators had earned this opportunity as a result of surviving a table elimination match at last month's Chapter 2 show and were not going to pass it up lightly as they controlled the early stages of this encounter. John Kronus pasted Lance Storm with a roundhouse kick and went for Hurricane Kronus in the corner, but Storm moved out of the way and levelled Kronus with an inverted DDT. The Impact Players nailed Kronus with a double Hotshot. Justin Credible missed a flying fistdrop and Kronus hit a desperation release dragon suplex out of nowhere before making the hot tag to Perry Saturn. Saturn cleaned house on the champions and before long the bout degenerated into a four man brawl. Somewhere in the melee Kronus accidentally decked referee Jim Molineaux with a jumping side kick. Saturn seemed to have the match and the titles won when he scored with a flying elbowdrop on Credible, but there was no official to count the fall. Dawn Marie passed a title belt to Lance Storm, who blasted Saturn in the head with it. He then sent Kronus flying from the ring apron into the guardrail with another stiff belt shot. The Impact Players dropped Saturn with the Deep Impact onto the title belt to keep the gold.

"Perfect Strangers" by Deep Purple played throughout the ECW Arena, signalling the introduction of Shane Douglas and Francine. The crowd chanted, "Triple Threat" as the Franchise entered the ring. Douglas took the microphone and said that he was a man of his word - tonight he was going to bring back the Triple Threat! He and Francine held up three fingers as "Perfect Strangers" played again and Chris Candido and Bam Bam Bigelow made their way out to the ring. Francine applauded while Douglas shook hands with his former stablemates. The Franchise took the mic again and bellowed, "Ladies and gentlemen - The Triple Threat!" The crowd cheered, but stopped abruptly when Michael Shane and Frankie Kazarian hit the ring and attacked Candido and Bigelow! Shane and Kazarian took Bigelow down with a legsweep / superkick combo - and Douglas was laughing!! The crowd sussed out the swerve and began jeering, as Candido was flattened with a German suplex from Kazarian following a superkick by Shane.
Shane Douglas exchanged handshakes with Michael Shane and Frankie Kazarian while Francine hugged both men. Douglas addressed Candido and Bigelow, claiming that they were now too old and too fat to represent the Triple Threat. The Franchise said that they were yesterday's news and he is all about the here and now. He claimed that Shane and Kazarian are the very embodiment of the here and now. He put them over as the future of professional wrestling and he said that this new "Franchised" Triple Threat will go straight to the very top and be the dominant force in ECW, exactly where it should be. Douglas, Shane, Kazarian and Francine stood over the battered bodies of Candido and Bigelow and made the Triple Threat sign while the fans booed them out of the building.

Teddy Hart vs. Pac

Match highlights:
This bout was a continuation in the scintillating and absorbing high-flying rivalry involving Mistico, Teddy Hart and Pac. Tonight, it was Teddy Hart and Pac's turn to put on a show. Hart used a flying swinging DDT and a diving headbutt for a pair of near falls. Pac executed a Falcon Arrow and a standing moonsault on Hart. The Man Gravity Forgot then hit what he thought would be the match winning shooting star press, but Hart put his foot on the bottom rope. Hart replied with a Frankensteiner from the top rope, but seemed to land awkwardly and he ended up rolling around on the mat favouring his left knee. Referee John Finnegan immediately checked on his condition while Pac looked on, concerned. Pac tried to help Hart back to his feet but Hart, who had been playing possum all along, wrapped the unsuspecting Pac up in a small package for the win.

Teddy Hart pinned Pac with a small package in 0:06:57.
Rating: ***

The crowd voiced their disgust with Teddy Hart after that cheap victory and chanted, "Bull sh*t!" Hart cut a promo on the fans and told them to kiss his ass. He said that all of the "player hating sons of bitches" inside the ECW Arena should recognise him as the "Saviour of Professional Wrestling".

Taz vs. Nova

Match highlights:
Nova exploded out of the blocks as soon as the bell sounded, dropping Taz with an enzuigiri to the face. Nova swiped a chair from ringside and sprang off it onto Taz, but Taz caught him and planted him onto the chair with a vicious leg capture Tazplex. Similar to how he took apart Mikey Whipwreck last month, The Human Suplex Machine began to decimate Nova. Taz connected with a hardway Tazplex, a release dragon Tazplex, a cobra clutch Tazplex, the Angry Man's Lariat, a series of sickening crossface punches, a T-Bone Tazplex and finally Taz locked on the Tazmission for the tap-out.

Taz made Nova submit to the Tazmission in 0:03:00.

Just like last month, Taz motioned that he wants the ECW World Heavyweight Championship back around his waist.

ECW World Television Title Match:
CM Punk vs. Jerry Lynn

Match highlights:
After a swift opening exchange of chain wrestling culminated in a stand-off, the crowd applauded both men. These two grapplers were starting to get to know one another very well in ECW. CM Punk and Jerry Lynn locked up again and Punk backed Lynn into the corner. The referee called for a clean break, but Punk stuck a thumb in Lynn's eye and slapped him. A portion of the crowd jeered Punk and he seemed to enjoy it. Lynn responded with a series of crisp armdrags and slapped Punk hard across the chops, returning the favour. The bout broke down into a brawl which spilled to ringside, where Punk began targeting Lynn's back by ramming him into the guardrail and ring post. Punk scored a near fall with a double underhook backbreaker. The straight-edge superstar applied a Boston crab to further damage Lynn's back, but the New F'N Show made the ropes. Punk went for a high knee, but Lynn side-stepped and Punk's right knee met the top turnbuckle. The TV champion favoured his knee, fearing he had blown it out, but Lynn was relentless in his attack on the injury. Lynn used a dragon screw and locked on a figure-four leglock, but Punk was able to reach the ropes. The challenger went for a superplex, but his back gave out when trying to complete the manoeuvre. Punk responded with a series of slaps and went for the Pepsi Plunge, but Lynn backdropped Punk all the way back down to the mat. Lynn scored with the TKO and attempted the Air Raid Crash, but Punk blocked it and tried for a uranage. Lynn elbowsmashed his way out of it, kicked Punk in the gut and hit the cradle piledriver! The crowd popped as Lynn went for the cover, when suddenly the bell rang signalling that the twenty minute time limit had expired!
Jerry Lynn was not to be denied and joined the fans in calling for five more minutes. The referee checked on CM Punk, who was clutching at his injured knee. He told Lynn to bring it on, so the match was restarted to the joy of the crowd! Punk kicked Lynn in the head and sent him to the canvas with a uranage, before immediately applying the Anaconda Vice. Lynn inched his way to the rope and touched the bottom strand with his toe. Frustrated, Punk began to lose his composure and walked right into a tornado DDT from Lynn. The referee counted two and then Punk managed to get his foot on the bottom rope at the last split second. Lynn argued with the referee, swearing it was a three count. Punk seized the opportunity and rolled Lynn up to retain the title.

CM Punk pinned Jerry Lynn after a rolling reverse cradle in 0:21:52.

(CM Punk retained the ECW World Television Championship.)

The crowd gave both men a standing ovation for their efforts in that match as the weary competitors fought back to their feet. CM Punk took the title belt from the referee and went to leave the ring but Jerry Lynn prevented him from doing so. Lynn extended his hand to Punk in a wonderful show of sportsmanship and Punk looked out to the crowd for their approval. The crowd were chanting, "Shake!" Punk looked at Lynn, smirked and left the ring! The crowd turned on the Television Champion and jeered him mercilessly as Jerry Lynn shook his head in disgust.

Abyss vs. Balls Mahoney

Match highlights:
This was Abyss' ECW debut and from the opening bell he was goaded by a "We want Dreamer!" chant from the crowd. Abyss nailed Balls Mahoney with a clothesline and a vertical suplex. Balls ducked another clothesline and connected with a series of jabs, but Steve Corino distracted Mahoney and Abyss crushed him in the corner with an avalanche. Abyss scored a near fall with a choke slam. The Extreme Monster missed a spear in the corner and Balls drilled him with the Ballbreaker Spinebuster. Balls went for the steel chair, but Corino grabbed a hold of his leg and Abyss kicked the chair into Balls' face. Abyss then dropped Mahoney with the Black Hole Slam for the pinfall.

[Steve Corino interfered against Balls Mahoney.]

Abyss had earned his first victory in Extreme Championship Wrestling, but he and Steve Corino were not finished with Balls Mahoney. Corino emptied a bag of thumbtacks and spread them all over the ring canvas. The King of Old School instructed Abyss to drive Mahoney into the tacks and The Extreme Monster was more than happy to comply. Abyss hoisted Balls onto his shoulders, but Tommy Dreamer ran down to the ring with his trusty Singapore cane. Dreamer struck Abyss repeatedly between the eyes with the cane, causing Abyss to drop Mahoney. However, Corino came from behind and hit Dreamer low. Abyss pressed Dreamer over his head and went to throw him into the tacks, but Dreamer raked his eyes, slid down and shoved Abyss into Corino. Corino was sent flying out of the ring and Dreamer blasted the disorientated Abyss with a DDT onto the tacks! Abyss clutched his face in agony and Dreamer was in pain too, but the fans were loving this! The Innovator of Violence lifted Abyss up for a Dreamer Driver onto the tacks but Corino pulled the Extreme Monster off Dreamer's shoulders and out of the ring. Corino held an angry Abyss back from returning to the ring, while Dreamer fired up the crowd by spreading his arms apart and yelling, "E-C-f**king-W!!!"

ECW World Heavyweight Title Match:
Rob Van Dam vs. The Sandman

Match highlights:
They brawled early, with Rob Van Dam hitting a kick and clotheslining The Sandman to the floor. Outside the ring, RVD dropped Sandy on the barricade and hit the corkscrew leg drop. Sandman reversed a whip into the guardrail and punished the champion with a White Russian Legsweep into the rail. Sandman then crushed RVD with a rolling senton against the railing. The Hardcore Icon suplexed Van Dam on the floor and then pulled a ladder out from underneath the ring. The Sandman wore the ladder on his head and decked RVD with it as the official dived for cover. Sandman placed Van Dam on the ladder and went for a flying somersault senton, but RVD moved and Sandman hit the ladder. Van Dam followed up with Rolling Thunder onto the ladder. RVD monkey flipped The Sandman onto the ladder and hit a split-legged moonsault for a two count. Sandman responded with a dangerous DDT onto the edge of the ladder and the champion only just kicked out! Rob Van Dam propped the ladder up in the corner and sent Sandman into it with an Irish Whip. The champion went up top to finish Sandman off, but Sandy hurled the ladder at RVD and stopped him in his tracks. Sandman took Van Dam off the top turnbuckle with the Rolling Rock for another heart-stopping near fall. RVD drilled The Sandman with the Van Daminator using the ladder and then bodyslammed him onto the ladder. Van Dam then connected with the Five Star Frog Splash for the three count.

After the bout, Rhino immediately hit the ring and attacked both men. He set up the ladder in the corner of the ring and Gored The Sandman into it, before turning his attention to the champion Rob Van Dam. Rhino floored Van Dam with a vicious clothesline and spiked him right on his head with a piledriver. The Man Beast Gored RVD almost out of his boots and then grabbed possession of the ECW World Heavyweight Title belt. Rhino held the belt aloft and beat his chest with the fans booing him out of the building. Rhino got in Van Dam's face and screamed that the belt was his, before throwing it down on the champion's broken body and slapping RVD across the face.

Circuit information:
The stage is all but set for the Heatwave pay-per-view event at the end of this month which emanates from The War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The main event for this show will see ECW World Heavyweight Champion Rob Van Dam defend his gold once more against The Sandman, but this time it will be a Ladder Match. Both these men showed their propensity for ladders this evening at WrestlePalooza, so their bout at Heatwave should be spectacular.

Rhino heeded Paul Heyman's warning and did not interject himself in tonight's World Title Match. Instead, he waited until the end of the night before laying a hellacious beating on both the champion and challenger. Heyman has requested Rhino's presence at Heatwave where it is rumoured that he will offer The Man Beast an ECW contract. This is certainly a combustible situation and one you will not want to miss.

Two other titles will be defended at Heatwave. In matches just signed, CM Punk puts his TV Title on the line against Too Cold Scorpio, while The Pitbulls challenge The Impact Players for the Tag Team Titles. The announcement of that latter bout has not sat well with The Dudley Boys, who have vowed not to stay quiet regarding that state of affairs.

The fans turned on CM Punk and Teddy Hart this evening as both men showed a complete lack of respect and sportsmanship.

The Triple Threat returned to ECW tonight, but it was a new version of the faction consisting of Shane Douglas, Michael Shane and Frankie Kazarian. This was a shock to everyone, not least to Chris Candido and Bam Bam Bigelow who showed up tonight under the impression that they were part of the group. Instead, they were beaten to a pulp by The Franchise's new charges. At Heatwave, Candido and Bigelow will team up to face Shane and Kazarian in the latter duo's ECW debuts. Is the new "Franchised" Triple Threat as good as the old one?

Tommy Dreamer gained the upper hand over Abyss for the first time in their feud after The Extreme Monster had won his first match in ECW against Balls Mahoney. When Dreamer and Abyss clash at Heatwave, you can be sure that it will be bloody and brutal and somebody's gonna get hurt!

Taz's path of rage claimed another victim tonight in Nova. How much longer until it leads him to the ECW Title?

After Mikey Whipwreck saved his students The Maximo Brothers from a heavy duty beatdown at the hands of the FBI tonight, Mikey has laid down a challenge for Heatwave. He has dared Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke to find a partner to face himself and the SATs in six man tag action. No doubt this challenge will be accepted, but who will The FBI choose to be their partner?

Here's the Heatwave card in full:

ECW World Heavyweight Title Ladder Match:
Rob Van Dam (w/ Bill Alfonso) vs. The Sandman

ECW World Television Title Match:
CM Punk vs. Too Cold Scorpio

ECW Tag Team Title Match:
The Impact Players (w/ Dawn Marie and Jason) vs. The Pitbulls

Grudge Match:
Tommy Dreamer vs. Abyss (w/ Steve Corino and Jack Victory)

Triple Threats Collide:
Michael Shane and Frankie Kazarian (w/ Shane Douglas and Francine) vs. Chris Candido and Bam Bam Bigelow

Six Man Tag Team Match:
Mikey Whipwreck and The Spanish Announce Team vs. The Full Blooded Italians (w/ Big Sal E. Graziano) and ?

We hope to see you later this month! Till then, so long everybody!

ECW HEATWAVE
June 25th, 2006
The War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Your commentary team is Joey Styles and Cyrus

The opening video package and titles for ECW Heatwave rolled and the show opened with Joey Styles and Cyrus in the ring. Styles and Cyrus hyped up tonight's card and then Paul Heyman made his way out to the squared circle to a great ovation. Heyman took the microphone while Styles and Cyrus left to go to their announce position. The Mad Scientist of Pro Wrestling waited for the "Paul E" chant to die down and he removed a document from his leather trench coat. Heyman said that he knew Rhino was here at the War Memorial Auditorium as asked him to come out to the ring. "Debonair" by Dope blasted through the speakers and the Man Beast made his way out.
Rhino entered the ring and Paul Heyman addressed him. Heyman said that he was sick and tired of Rhino interrupting his shows and causing chaos. Paul E told Rhino that he is NOT the ECW World Heavyweight Champion and he has got to get that through his thick skull. Heyman said that Rhino gave up that right when he stayed in Florida instead of joining back up with the Tribe of Extreme. However, Heyman was ready to let bygones be bygones tonight and give Rhino the chance to win back what he feels is his. Heyman revealed that the papers he was holding in his hand were an ECW contract for Rhino to sign. That way, if Rhino signs officially with the company he can earn a shot at the ECW Title. Heyman handed Rhino the contract and a pen. Without taking his eyes off Heyman, Rhino signed the contract and snatched the mic from Paul E.
Rhino demanded that Paul Heyman give him a shot at the ECW Title right now because he was an official member of the roster again. He added that he had never lost the championship in the ring, so that made him the number one contender by default. Not so fast. Heyman agreed with Rhino - he didn't lose the title in the ring and was now on the ECW books again - but Heyman added that Rhino would have to earn a shot at the title. Heyman revealed that Rhino would start in the opening match of the night until he worked his way back up to the main event and into title contention! Rhino was livid as Heyman disingenuously wished him good luck with the curtain jerking! The crowd were overjoyed as Rhino had walked straight into Heyman's machinations. Rhino snapped and Gored Heyman! The Man Beast stormed out of the arena through the crowd, shoving several fans out of his path on the way. Heyman, clutching his ribs in anguish, was helped out of the ring by a couple of officials.

The Full Bloodied Italians of Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke, along with Big Sal E. Graziano, made their way out for the opening six man tag team match. Joey Styles and Cyrus pondered who the FBI's tag team partner would be, after Mikey Whipwreck made the challenge to face him and his students Jose and Joel Maximo, the Spanish Announce Team. The SATs had defeated the FBI in their ECW debut, a loss that did not sit well with Guido and Mamaluke who subsequently attacked the Maximos at our last show. "When The Music Stops" by Eminem hit and the crowd immediately began booing, as the self-professed "Saviour of Professional Wrestling" Teddy Hart made his way to the ring. It appeared that Hart would be teaming with the FBI tonight. The fans had turned on Teddy Hart recently after he had used some very questionable tactics to gain the upper hand in his cruiserweight rivalry with Mistico and Pac.

Six Man Tag Team Match:
Mikey Whipwreck and The Spanish Announce Team vs. The Full Blooded Italians and Teddy Hart

Match highlights:
This six man tag team match was a fantastic way to open the pay-per-view and it featured a dazzling array of aerial manoeuvres. The team of the FBI and Teddy Hart spent a significant portion of the contest isolating Jose Maximo and working him over. Predictably, the bout soon broke down into an all-out war featuring all six men and referee John "Pee Wee" Moore had absolutely no chance of keeping control. While Mikey Whipwreck and Little Guido fought at ringside, Joel Maximo leapt onto them with a running somersault plancha, kicking off an amazing series of dives that the fans were on their feet for. Teddy Hart scored with a springboard shooting star bodyblock and Jose Maximo found the mark with a tope. As Tony Mamaluke climbed to the top rope to set up for a dive of his own, Whipwreck stopped him in his tracks and brought him down to the mat with a Whippersnapper from the top rope to pick up the win for himself and his students.

The Spanish Announce Team (Joel Maximo and Jose Maximo) and Mikey Whipwreck

CM Punk cut a backstage promo. His tattoos are telling a story. Drug free, honour and war against the system. He can work several different styles and has trained all over the world which is why he deserves to be in ECW. He is a finely tuned athlete, craving to compete with the best. He is CM Punk - the ECW World Television Champion. Tonight, he defends his championship against former champ Too Cold Scorpio.

ECW World Television Title Match:
CM Punk vs. Too Cold Scorpio

Match highlights:
Television champion CM Punk wrestled an intelligent match here, focusing his assault on Too Cold Scorpio's legs to curtail the challenger's arsenal of aerial manoeuvres. Punk smashed Scorpio's right knee into the ring post twice and further punished him with a kneelock submission and a kneebar. Scorpio fired back with a thrust kick, but his knee gave out and Punk was straight back on him. Punk used a kneebreaker and went for a figure-four, but Scorpio kicked him off into the turnbuckles. Scorpio executed a double underhook suplex and a Tombstone, but his knee was still bothering him. A relentless Punk applied a half Boston, but Scorpio broke the hold by reaching the ropes. Punk knocked Scorpio out of the ring with a Shining Wizard and ran him knee-first into the railing. Punk went straight back to the single-leg crab, but Scorpio refused to give up. The champion hit a double underhook backbreaker, but missed a slingshot somersault splash and Scorpio hit him with a somersault legdrop. Scorpio rallied with an enzuigiri and a superkick which almost took Punk's head off! Scorpio gingerly climbed to the top rope and went for the Tumbleweed, but Punk moved out of the way just before collision. Scorpio's injured knee seemed to take most of the impact and CM Punk returned to the half crab to force the tap out.

CM Punk defeated Too Cold Scorpio when Too Cold Scorpio submitted to a
half Boston in 0:17:56.
Rating: **** 1/4
(CM Punk retained the ECW World Television Championship.)

CM Punk received a mixed reaction after another successful title defence. He showed his title belt to the crowd and acknowledged the fans that were cheering him. Using a combination of the official and the ropes, Too Cold Scorpio dragged himself back to his feet. Scorpio was concerned with his injured knee but sportingly offered a handshake to the champion. Punk smirked at Scorpio and then left the ring. The crowd voiced their disapproval as Punk threw up a cross with his arms.

Joey Styles and Cyrus began to hype up the upcoming ECW Tag Team Title Match between The Impact Players and The Pitbulls when Buh Buh Ray and D-Von Dudley entered the arena, accompanied by their ever-present entourage. After insulting the fans and the state of Florida, Buh Buh demanded to know why The Pitbulls were getting a shot at the Tag Titles instead of them. Buh Buh began to rant about how The Dudleys were being overlooked while the crowd chanted, "Shut the f**k up!" Taz's music hit and the crowd popped. The Human Suplex Machine, who had evidently heard enough, stormed down to the ring to shut up The Dudleys himself. Big Dick Dudley tried to block his way in the aisle, but Taz rocked him with some vicious forearms and threw him over the guardrail. Taz was attacked by The Dudleys on entry to the ring and we had appeared to have an impromptu handicap match on our hands!

Handicap Match:
Taz vs. The Dudley Boys

Match highlights:
Taz was all over the record-breaking former eight-time ECW Tag Team Champions, tossing them around with ease with an assortment of Tazplexes. The numbers game caught up with Taz though and The Dudleys ganged up on him. D-Von hit Taz with a flying headbutt to the crotch while Buh Buh held the Human Suplex Machine in position. Taz avoided a 3-D attempt, floored Buh Buh with a lariat and then locked D-Von in the Tazmission. However, Big Dick Dudley broke the hold with a stiff chair shot to the back. Big Dick went to hit Taz with the chair again, but Taz avoided the blow and D-Von took it. Taz hurled Big Dick out of the ring and dented the chair over Buh Buh's head with a wicked shot, sending a groan through the crowd. Taz applied the Tazmission on D-Von for the victory.

It was time for the ECW Tag Team Title Match between champions The Impact Players and The Pitbulls. Justin Credible and Lance Storm have been relying on a lot of outside interference from their managers Jason and Dawn Marie lately to hang on to the gold. Can The Pitbulls overcome the odds tonight and capture the titles for the second time?

ECW Tag Team Title Match:
The Impact Players vs. The Pitbulls

Match highlights:
The Pitbulls used their overwhelming power advantage to dominate the ECW Tag Team Champions in this encounter. The challengers powerslammed, vertical suplexed and backdropped their way through Justin Credible and Lance Storm, sending the Impact Players scurrying to regroup. Jason clipped the knee of Pitbull 1 behind the official's back when he was setting up for another suplex on Credible, turning the tide in the favour of the champions. Like sharks smelling blood, The Impact Players did everything they could to brutalise Pitbull 1's knee. However, Pitbull 1 knocked Lance Storm silly with an enzuigiri and made the hot tag to Pitbull 2. Pitbull 2 cleaned house and press slammed Storm onto his partner Credible at ringside! The Pitbulls were ready to go for the Super Bomb as they set up a table in the ring. However, Dawn Marie caused a distraction as Pitbull 1 fed Storm to Pitbull 2 who was perched on the turnbuckles. Justin Credible caned Pitbull 1 in the back of the head and dumped him out of the ring. The champions then ganged up on Pitbull 2 and superplexed him through the table! The Impact Players finished Pitbull 2 off with the Deep Impact spike piledriver into the table wreckage to keep the belts around their waists!

Tommy Dreamer cut an interview backstage as clips aired from his brutal rivalry with The Extreme Monster Abyss. Dreamer said he was going to make it long and painful for Abyss tonight. He said if Abyss wanted to bring his thumbtacks then that was fine, because he had his Singapore cane and an arena full of ECW fans dying for him to kick Abyss' ass.

Joey Styles recapped the situation regarding Shane Douglas and his new Triple Threat consisting of Douglas, Michael Shane and Frankie Kazarian. They brutally beat down former Threat members Chris Candido and Bam Bam Bigelow at our last arena show, but tonight Candido and Bigelow are out for revenge at Heatwave. Styles provided some background on Shane and Kazarian. Michael Shane is the cousin of WWE superstar Shawn Michaels and he took the name "Michael Shane" as a play on that name. Nationally Armenian Frankie Kazarian was trained by Killer Kowalski and wrestled his debut match after one month's training. After remaining at Kowalski's school for eight months, Kazarian returned to Southern California and began wrestling on the independent circuit. He was presented with the Future Legends Award at the Cauliflower Alley Club in 2005.

Michael Shane and Frankie Kazarian vs. Chris Candido and Bam Bam Bigelow

Match highlights:
Chris Candido and Bam Bam Bigelow showed that they had not lost a step in the early going as they cleared the ring of Michael Shane and Frankie Kazarian. As Shane and Kazarian went over strategy with Shane Douglas outside the ring, Candido used Bigelow as a launch pad to dive onto the New Triple Threat! Candido used a DDT on Shane while Bigelow pressed Kazarian over his head and dropped him. Kazarian came back with a springboard back elbow on Bigelow and almost pinned Candido with a fisherman suplex. Kazarian went for the Flux Capacitor on Candido, but Candido fought him off and connected with the New Jersey Jam. While Kazarian and Bigelow brawled at ringside, Candido signalled that he was going to finish Michael Shane off with the Blonde Bombshell. However, as he climbed to the top rope Francine hit him with a low blow and slapped him back down to the mat. In ran Tammy Lynn Sytch for the obligatory catfight to the joy of the crowd. As Sytch tried to get the fans behind her, she walked right into a superkick from Michael Shane! Meanwhile, at ringside, Kazarian drilled Bigelow with the Wave of the Future on the floor after a distraction from Shane Douglas. Candido was next to taste the Sweet Shane Music and Kazarian picked up the victory for the Triple Threat with a flying legdrop from the top.

Backstage, The Pitbulls were extremely pissed off. Pitbull 2 was favouring his neck and Pitbull 1 was holding the back of his head. They were disgusted by the constant outside interference in The Impact Players' tag team title defences. The Pitbulls vowed to put an end to the screwjobs by taking matters into their own hands.

A video package aired documenting the feud between Tommy Dreamer and Steve Corino's Extreme Monster, Abyss.

Grudge Match:
Abyss vs. Tommy Dreamer

Match highlights:
Tommy Dreamer chased Steve Corino and Jack Victory with his Sinagpore cane and then whacked Abyss over the head with it repeatedly. Abyss completely no-sold the blows and seized possession of the cane, before snapping it over his knee! Abyss screamed at Dreamer and challenged him to bring it. The Extreme Monster worked over Dreamer with clotheslines, a bodyslam, a powerslam, chokes and an avalanche in the corner. Abyss sent Dreamer flying with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Dreamer fought out of a power bomb attempt and scrambled Abyss' brains with a trash can. Dreamer used a swinging neckbreaker, but his flurry of offence was soon cut short by a choke slam from Abyss. Dreamer dumped the thumbtacks on the canvas and spread them around to the delight of the crowd. Dreamer tried to power bomb Abyss onto the tacks but Abyss countered, backdropping Dreamer onto the tacks! The Innovator of Violence was in agony! It was time for the main event of Heatwave, a ladder match for the ECW World Heavyweight Title, as champion Rob Van Dam defends the strap against The Sandman. The Sandman had been denied a crack at the gold on two occasions by Rhino as of late when The Man Beast attacked him before the match. However, at our last arena show, The Sandman pushed Van Dam all the way but he ultimately came up short. Tonight, he gets another opportunity to become a six-time World Heavyweight Champion, this time in a ladder match.

Ring announcer Steven DeAngelis introduced both competitors and just like our last show the crowd was split 50/50 in their support. The only way to win is to climb the ladder and claim the championship belt. Expect both men to hold nothing back in this one!!

ECW World Heavyweight Title Ladder Match:
Rob Van Dam vs. The Sandman

Match highlights:
This ladder match was the wild and crazy brawl that everybody expected it would be. The Sandman went for the ladder almost immediately, but Rob Van Dam nailed him with a plancha to crush him under the ladder! Back between the ropes, RVD set the ladder up precariously between The Sandman's legs while the Extreme Icon was slumped in the corner. Van Dam then sent the ladder into Sandman's crotch with a bullet dropkick, bringing tears to Sandy's eyes! Van Dam made an attempt to grab the belt, but Sandman pushed the ladder over and RVD crashed into the ropes. Sandman put the ladder on his head and ran into the champion. Sandman tried it again, but Van Dam grabbed the ladder and ran Sandman into the top turnbuckle, jarring Sandman's neck. Van Dam followed up with a springboard side kick and Sandman, still wearing the ladder, hit the mat hard. RVD went to work on Sandman's now injured neck. He tried a piledriver on the ladder, but Sandman countered with a backdrop onto the ladder. Favouring his neck, Sandman attempted to climb the ladder, but RVD pushed Sandman's foot through the rungs and the Extreme Icon ended up hanging upside down from the ladder! With Sandman dangling unsteadily, RVD rode a steel chair like a skateboard into Sandman's face! Van Dam tried to reclaim his championship, but Sandman took him down with the White Russian Legsweep off the ladder. The Sandman stacked up two tables at ringside. Sandman put RVD through another ringside table with a somersault senton from the ladder which was placed in the ring! Sandman began ascending the ladder again, but RVD, chair in hand, leapt off the top rope and sent Sandman crashing back down to the canvas with a Van Daminator! Van Dam bodyslammed Sandman on the ladder and then drilled him with a chair-assisted corkscrew legdrop. RVD set up the battered ladder and began climbing. He stopped at the top, pointed at himself and went for the Five Star Frog Splash from the top rung, but there was no water in the pool as Sandman rolled out of harm's way! There was no action for the first time in the bout as both men recovered and the crowd tried to rally behind both champion and challenger. Sandman and RVD started to climb opposite sides of the ladder. They met at the top and traded punches, but then Rhino ran into the ring to a chorus of boos and jeers. Rhino tipped the ladder over, sending both men flying out of the ring and crashing through the stack of tables at ringside!! The loudest "Holy sh*t!" chant of the evening rang out as Rhino propped the ladder back up. The Man Beast climbed up to the top and removed the ECW World Heavyweight Title from its perch!

Paul Heyman made his way out, accompanied by police officers. Rhino left the ring and escaped the arena through the crowd. Heyman demanded that the cops catch him, because "he's stealing the f**king belt!!"
