NJPW Puro on Samurai TV - 01/01/06

Hiro Saito pinned Yujiro with the Flying Senton in 0:08:59.
Rating: ** 3/4

Hiro Saito gave Yujiro a really stiff match that had Yujito reeling from corner to corner. Saito doesn't have the stamina he once had though as he got winded about 5 minutes in. Yujito tried to use that to his advantage, but Saito pulled it together and got the win.
(Hiro Saito +2, Yujiro -2)

Hirooki Goto pinned Charlie Haas with the Go To Heaven in 0:24:20.
Rating: *** 1/2

Two of NJPW hottest young prospects go head to head with much national pride at stake as Haas is aligned with Brock Lesnar's Foreign Army. Goto did his homework as he had Haas' Hass of Pain maneuver well scouted. He managed to escape from it at least 4 four times before being able to hit the Go To Heaven (similar to a fisherman's suplex)!
(Hirooki Goto +2, Charlie Haas -2)

Scott Norton pinned Ryusuke Taguchi with the Power Bomb in 0:14:08.
Rating: -3/4*

This is probably a victory Scott Norton would like to forget as it was a lot closer than he probably wanted. Ryusuke Taguchi made Norton scramble to keep up and forced him to fight harder to keep in control. Taguchi concentrated on Norton's left arm to try to weaken him, but obviously he didn't weaken him enough.
(Scott Norton +2, Ryusuke Taguchi -2)

Main Event:
Kazuyuki Fujita and Yutaka Yoshie defeated Jado and Gedo when K. Fujita pinned
Gedo with the Mounted Knee Strike in 0:08:59.
Rating: *** 1/2

Fujita and Yoshie seemed to take extra pleasure in putting Jado and Gedo in their place. The young hardcore punks never managed to get their focus throughout the match and Fujita gets the win for his team with his devastating Mounted Knee Strike!
(Kazuyuki Fujita +2, Yutaka Yoshie +1, Jado -1, Gedo -2)

NJPW Action! on Samurai TV - 01/04/06

Tatsutoshi Goto and Kendo Ka Shin defeated Tatsumi Fujinami and Hiroshi Nagao when T. Goto made H. Nagao submit to a Fujiwara armbar in 0:14:00.
Rating: *** 1/4

Tatsumi Fujinami had his work cut out for him. He was teamed up with the very tall, but very inexperienced Niroshi Nagao. Fujinami did his best to look out for him, but Goto and Kashin know the name of the game. And that game is isolate the newbie. After a few close calls, Goto snaps on a Fujiwara armbar and Nagao is tapping out.
(Tatsutoshi Goto +2, Kendo Ka Shin +1, Hiroshi Nagao -2, Tatsumi Fujinami -1)

Masahiro Chono pinned Charlie Haas after a power bomb in 0:13:17.
Rating: **** 1/4

There was no doubt as to whether or not Chono would win, but the surprise was how well Haas kept up with the legend. Haas even managed to lock in the Haas of Pain for over a minute before Chono was able to power out of it. Chono looked like he was impressed, for a second.
(Masahito Chono +1, Charlie Haas -1)

Hiro Saito, Minoru Suzuki and Toru Yano defeated Blue Wolf, Shinsuke Nakamura and Riki Chosyu when M. Suzuki pinned S. Nakamura with the Drill A Hole Piledriver in 0:10:23.
Rating: ***

Blue Wolf was expected to be the weak link in his team because of his inexperience, and perhaps that is one the reasons he didn't see any in-ring action. The other reason is that Shinsuke Nakamura did not tag out after he was tagged in by Riki Chosyu. Every time Nakamura had a chance to tag out after a reversal, he decided to try to inflict more damage. Saito and Yano wore Nakamura down and Suzuki finished him off. Chosyu seems pretty disapointed in Nakamura.
(Minoru Suzuki +4, Hiro Saito +1, Toru Yano +1, Blue Wolf -1, Shinsuke Nakamura -4, Riki Chosyu -1)

Hirooki Goto and Minoru defeated Foreign Army (Mark Jindrak and Matt Morgan) when Minoru made M. Morgan submit to the Minoru Special II in 0:19:53.
Rating: ***

Morgan & Jindrak take advantage of their larger size and slam Goto around. They also draws lots of jeers from the audience by using underhanded tactics like choking their opponents at every opportunity. Goto & Minoru eventually start targeting Jindrak's knee and Morgan's arm. Their tactics pay-off as Minoru locks in the Minoru Special II and Morgan taps like a little girl!
(Minoru +3, Hirooki Goto +1, Mark Jindrak -1, Matt Morgan -3)

Manabu Nakanishi made Masahito Kakihara submit to the Hercules Cutter in 0:16:30.
Rating: ** 1/2

Manabu Nakanishi is one of the top challengers for Brock Lesnar's IWGP Heavyweight Title. Masahito Kakihara has been historically inconsistent, varying in his hot streaks and cold streaks. Kakihara was in fine form tonight, and Nakanishi seemed to be letting him show off what he had. Nakanishi held back most of the match and really let Kakihara shine. But enough was enough, and the Hercules Cutter ended things pretty fast.
(Manabu Nakanishi +2, Masahito Kakihara -2)

Main Event:
Tiger Mask pinned Black Tiger with the Tiger Suplex in 0:10:43.
Rating: ***
(Tiger Mask won the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title.)

What a Main Event! It was the Tiger Battle! Tiger Mask (actually Tiger Mask IV) challenged Black Tiger to put his title on the line tonight, and Black Tiger accepted! This match was so close, it could have gone either way at any second with both men unleashed their arsenals on each other. Tiger Mask finally nails his Tiger Suplex and Black Tiger is finally down for the count! Title change!
(Tiger Mask +5, Black Tiger -5)

NJPW Puro on Samurai TV special "Exciting Battle!" - 01/08/06

Jado and Gedo defeated Togi Makabe and Naofumi Yamamoto when Jado pinned N. Yamamoto after a backdrop suplex in 0:18:10.
Rating: ** 3/4

Those punks Jado & Gedo stiff shot their way to victory. Togi Makabe dominated the match at first, but Jado & Gedo targeted his neck in a vicious fashion, prompting the mediacal trainer to come out to ringside to keep an eye on him. Naofumi got tagged in, but he was overwhelmed as well. Jado adds insult by finishing Naofumi off with his own finishing move.
(Jado +1, Gedo +1, Togi Makabe -1, Naofumi Yamamoto -1)

Riki Chosyu pinned Hiro Saito after a power bomb in 0:10:10.
Rating: *** 1/2

Hiro Saito put up a good fight, he even got a really close fall after a Doctor Bomb. But Riki Chosyu's fighting spirit is way too strong and soon enough Saito was knocked out by a powerbomb.
(Riki Chosyu +1, Hiro Saito -1)

Six Man Tag Match:
Minoru Suzuki, Koji Kanemoto and Charlie Haas defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi, Minoru and Tatsumi Fujinami when Kanemoto defeated H. Tanahashi when H. Tanahashi passed out in the Anklelock Submission in 0:08:20.
Rating: ****

Koji Kanemoto has a lot of anger towards Tatsumi Fujinami lately. Tonight he targeted him with paticular fury. Minoru Suzuki got is licks in and had a fantastic exchange with Minoru. I don't think Haas had more than 30 seconds of ring time. Kanemoto isolated Fujinami's protege Tanahashi and made him tapout to the Anklelock.
(Minoru Suzuki +1, Koji Kanemoto +2, Charlie Haas +1, Hiroshi Tanahashi -2, Minoru -1, Tatsumi Fujinami -1)

Akiya Anzawa pinned Masahito Kakihara with the Zero-Sen Kick in 0:11:43.
Rating: **

Anzawa raised quite a few eyebrows tonight by defeating a man that most followers of NJPW would consider his better. Anzawa unleashed his lethal Zero-Sen Kick to devastating results. A victory like this will command the attention of the championship committee. Kakihara looks like he's in another cold streak.
(Akiya Anzawa +2, Masahito Kakihara -2)

Katsushi Takemura and El Samurai defeated Foreign Army (Mark Jindrak and Matt Morgan) when K. Takemura pinned M. Morgan with the M9 in 0:22:29.
Rating: ** 1/2

Takemura and Samurai are a strange pairing, but tonight they managed to put aside any personal differences and concentrated on taking down their larger opponents. Morgan & Jindrak were just plain out-wrestled tonight. Samurai and Takemura wore them down gradually and methodically.
(Katsushi Takemura +4, El Samurai +1, Mark Jindrak -1, Matt Morgan -4)

Yutaka Yoshie pinned Scott Norton with the Diving Body Press in 0:14:26.
Rating: DUD

Two of the bulkiest men in NJPW take on each other. It wasn't a pretty match, especially since Norton isn't motivated to give an extra iota of effort these days. Yutaka Yoshie gets an impressive match after taking down Norton with the Diving Body Press. The ring crew are the real winners since the ring is still standing.
(Yutaka Yoshie +3, Scott Norton -3)

Hirooki Goto pinned Black Tiger with the Go To Heaven in 0:14:43.
Rating: ** 3/4

Just days removed from losing the Jr. Heavyweight title, Black Tiger appears to be suffering from a lack of confidence. A couple of times Black Tiger should have gone for a more high risk move, but hesitation and a general lack of agression plagued him. Hirooki Goto, on the other hand, knew that if he beat the former champ he would be at the top of the contenders list. Tiger Mask had better been paying attention.
(Hirooki Goto +4, Black Tiger -4)

Main Event:
Kazuyuki Fujita pinned Hiroyoshi Tenzan after the Doctor Bomb in 0:08:24.
Rating: ****
[Gedo and Jado interfered against Kazuyuki Fujita.]

Fujita locked in a guillotine choke on Tenzan early in the match and just about choked the life out of him. Tenzan made his way to the ropes, but he was dazed and swung wildly at Fujita and took out the ref instead! Jado & Gedo know an opportunity when they see one and they ran out from the back and nailed Fujita with an electric guitar! Tenzan couldn't capitalize with a pin however. Fujita rallied and barely won with the Doctor Bomb. Jado & Gedo made themselves scarce and they really should start worrying.
(Kazuyuki Fujita +1, Hiroyoshi Tenzan -1)

Card rating: ** 1/2

NJPW Action! on Samurai TV - 01/11/06

Black Strong Machine pinned Hiroshi Nagao with the Devil Windmill Suplex Hold in 09:28.
Rating: * 1/4

The mysterious masked veteran defeats big man Hiroshi Nagao. Nagao still has many lessons to learn.
(Black Strong Machine +2, Hiroshi Nagao -2)

Masahito Kakihara and Kendo Ka Shin defeated El Samurai and Yujiro when K. Shin made Yujiro submit to the Jujigatame in 24:01.
Rating: **

El Samurai & Yujiro did surprisingly well given Yujiro lack of talent. They executed quick tags and made few mistakes. Perhaps they greatest problem was a lack of agression. Kendo & Kakihara finally isolate Yujiro and Ka Shin locks in the Jujigatame and the match is over.
(Masahito Kakihara +1, Kendo Ka Shin +2, El Samurai -1, Yujiro -2)

Masahiro Chono pinned Tatsumi Fujinami with the Shining Yakuza Kick in 11:32.
Rating: **** 1/4

Just putting these two legends in the ring will yield an instant classic. Fujinami & Chono wrestle a friendly match for the most part, until Fujinami got a near fall. Chono suddenly decided he did not want to lose.
(Masahiro Chono +2, Tatsumi Fujinami -2)

Shinsuke Nakamura pinned Jushin Thunder Liger after a moonsault from the second turnbuckle in 8:43.
Rating: **** 1/4

This was Liger's first match-up against Nakamura, the "Super Rookie". Nakamura again astounds the world by beating Liger with a moonsault. The fans are definately egtting their money's worth tonight.
(Shinsuke Nakamura +2, Jushin Thunder Liger -2)

Manabu Nakanishi made Matt Morgan submit to the Hercules Cutter in 10:01.
Rating: ***

Manabu Nakanishi is making a strong case for his upcoming title shot against Brock Lesnar by defeating one of his largest generals.
(Manabu Nakanishi +2, Matt Morgan -2)

Card Rating: *** 1/2
