Sunday Night Heat (January 1st, 2006)

Jerry Lawler pinned Johnny Parisi after a gutwrench suplex in 0:08:03.
Rating: ***

Lita was out sick, so Lawler was lending his talents to the commentary team. Johnny Parisi came out and lamented the fact that he was on Sunday Heat instead of main event RAW. He singled out Lawler as being one of the ones holding young wrestlers down and challenged him.

Lawler decided to accept the challenge and ended up surprising everyone by besting Parisi, using his years of experience to his advantage.
(Lawler +2, Parisi -2)

V-Squared (Val Venis and Viscera) and T-N-T (Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch)
battled to a double countout in 0:09:25.
Rating: 1/2*

Val Venis & Viscera are trying to make a name for themselves and to do that, they take on the former champs Cade & Murdoch. TNT control most of the match by isolating Venis, but a clusterfuck breaks out outside the ring and both teams get counted out.
(No Change)

Tajiri pinned Romeo with the Kick Of Death in 0:06:16.
Rating: *** 1/4

Tajiri takes on half of the Heart Throbs and makes short work of the self-professed teen sensation. A squash match that gets a surprisingly good rating.
(Tajiri +2, Romeo -2)

Rob Van Dam pinned Antonio with the Five Star Frog Splash in 0:08:11.
Rating: **

The other half of the Heart Throbs took on RVD and suffered a similar fate. RVD looked real sloppy out there and made a bunch of mistakes that would have cost him the match against a more able opponent.
(RVD +2, Antonio -2)

Card rating: ** 1/4

And away we go!!

Nice opening... good to see Lawler getting in the ring and getting some action.  I like using Lawler like this every once in awhile.  Dunno if you're planning on keeping him active awhile, not that I'd mind, but I digress... (sorry Anubis! I'll stop with the digression  ::)!)

Yay! You used the word "clusterfuck"! And nice job coming up with a nickname for this god-awful team  :P ... but it's still good to get continuity in the WWE tag division, so hoorah for that!

Nice rating for a little Tajiri and Romeo action...

...RVD, sloppy?! Blasphemer!! Tough night for the Heart Throbs. Here's to hoping they exact some revenge and make RVD and Tajiri beef up the tag division.

Nice start!  Looking forward to RAW :)!

Notes: Yeah.. Lawler's on the active roster, as is Tazz. Also Josh Matthews & Funaki are active on the SD roster, as well as Shane Douglas in TNA. I figure if the dead are wrestling, then the living have no excuse. ;) Thanks for the feedback.

WWE: Monday Night RAW IS WAR

Tajiri made Gregory Helms submit to a Fujiwara armbar in 0:01:03.
Rating: **

Gregory Helms announces his desire to put all that "Hurricane" nonsense behind him and to focus on a respectable singles career, unlike that bafoon Rosey. Tajiri then proceeded to beat Gregory Helms in a minute. Helms got no offense whatsoever.
(Tajiri +2, Helms -2)

Rosey pinned Rob Conway with the Super Hero Slam in 0:19:06.
Rating: ***

Rosey came out and laughed at Gregory Helms' lack of success, but Conway cut him off, saying that the Con-man isn't going to go that easy on him. The fans were pretty impatient with the match as Rosey isn't really one who can wrestle an exciting 19 minute match, but it did pick up towards the end.  Conway, for all his swagger and confidence couldn't lift Rosey for the Ego Trip. A worried Conway tried some riskyer moves but they didn't pay off. Rosey manages to nail the Super Hero Slam.
(Rosey +3, Conway -3)

Rene Dupree pinned Shelton Benjamin with the Cobra Clutch Slam in 0:16:10.
Rating: ***

The French Phenom said he took exception to everyone calling Shelton Benjamin the best natural athelete on RAW. Benjamin said he thought he heard a challenge and the match was on. To his credit, Dupree surprised everyone by not only holding his own against Benjamin, but eventually besting him after Benjamin kicked out of the Cobra Clutch Slam twice.
(Dupree +4, Benjamin -4)

Snitsky pinned Shawn Michaels with the Egoist Schwein in 0:08:31.
Rating: ** 1/4

HBK discovered he was a bit over his head when Snitsky was revealed to be his opponent. Michaels was tossed around the ring like a ragdoll before Snitsky hit the Egoist Schwein to end it. Snitsky seems to have a purpose again, and that purpose is a shiny belt around his waist.
(Snitsky +6, Michaels -6)

Triple H and Chris Masters defeated Monsters (The Big Show and Kane) when
C. Masters defeated Kane when Kane passed out in the Masterlock in 0:10:32.
Triple H tore his right rotator cuff. He will be out for approximately 6 months.
Rating: *** 1/4
(Triple H and Chris Masters won the World Tag Team Titles.)

Triple H announced to Masters and the crowd that he felt that Masters was ready to set up to the next level. Masters' look of smug confidence ebbed quickly when Triple H reveal that they had a tag title match up right now. The Monsters (Kane & Big Show) dominated most of the match but almost seemed to be toying with Triple H. Big Show managed to break out of Masters' Masterlock at one point, but Kane wasn't so lucky, he passed out.
(Masters +5, Triple H +3, Kane -5, Big Show -3)

Unfortunately though, it looks like the titles will be immediatly vacated as Triple H injured his right rotator cuff. He will be out fo 6 months.

Card rating: ** 3/4

I take it you're not booking, else I'd have suggested throwing Hunter and Masters into a match and booking them to lose after about five minutes during which Masters does all the work, if Hunter even showed. I know, I know, Masters doing all the work, ten star classic... ;)
UnrightPosted on 12/17/05 at 02:46:14

Yup, completly unbooked with all it's challenges and pitfalls. But for the record, Masters did wrestle most of that match and I was surprised as hell he got a submission victory over Kane.

WWE: Sunday Night Heat - 01/08/06

Matt Striker pinned Daivari with the Overdrive in 0:09:05.
Rating: *** 1/2

The crowd decided to pull more for Striker in this heel vs heel matchup, but only because he was American. Every once in a while, Striker would acknowledge the cheers and thank the audience for believing in him as a new father figure. The crowd would quickly turn on him again. Striker gets the pin with the Overdrive.
(Matt Striker +2, Daivari -2)

Rene Dupree pinned Jerry Lawler with the Cobra Clutch Slam in 0:08:56.
Rating: **

Lawler may still have that ego boost from beating Parisi last week as he challenged Dupree. Dupree gladly accepted the challenge and he French Tickled (?) his way to a victory. Dupree is on a roll lately.
(Rene Dupree +2, Jerry Lawler -2)

No-Fault Problem Solvers (Tyson Tomko and Snitsky) defeated V-Squared (Val Venis and Viscera) when T. Tomko pinned V. Venis with the Torture Rack Neckbreaker in 0:15:08.
Rating: 1/2*
[Shawn Michaels interfered against Snitsky.]

Tomko & Snitsky had this match well in hand, dismantling Val Venis like he as the new Ricky Morton, when Shawn Michaels makes a very surprising visit to Heat and nailed Snitsky with a chair behind the ref's back. Venis then went for the pin after the Money Shot, but Snitsky kicked out with authority. Michaels retreated with Snitsky in tow as Tomko finished the match on his own.
(Tyson Tomko +2, Snitsky +1, Val Venis -2, Viscera -1)

Main Event:
Chavo Guerrero pinned Antonio with the Low Rider in 0:09:46.
Rating: ** 3/4

Nice cruiserweight battle with Chavo showboating. Antonio looked like he might steal a victory after Chavo missed a plancha to the outside, but Chavo rallied and hit the Low Rider to take home the win.
(Chavo Guerrero +2, Antonio -2)

Eugene has quit effective immediately.

Ghost Mask III: "Jerry, listen, we need to have a talk."
Jerry Lawler: "What is it, Mask?"
Ghost Mask III: "We need to talk about your loss."
Jerry Lawler: "Get off my back, you're just a TNM Booker!"
Ghost Mask III: "You son-of-a..."
Jerry Lawler: "...wow! It's the man that does it to me, that vile Unright fellow!"
Ghost Mask III: "You have a point..."
Jerry Lawler: "Well, Mask, I gotta go.  Old JR and I are going to go grab a few beers and underage hookers."
Ghost Mask II: "Okay, I'm going to go spam the TNM Forums.  Somebody has to balance out 91's spam."
Jerry Lawler: "Hey, Mask..."
Ghost Mask III: "Yeah, Jerry?"
Jerry Lawler: "Just watch your cornhole around that Snabbit guy, okay?"

WWE: Monday Night RAW IS WAR - 01/08/06

Rosey pinned Daivari with the Super Hero Slam in 0:08:25.
Rating: * 3/4
[Super Stacy interfered against Daivari.]

Daivari uses the "Hey, what's that?" finger point on the ref twice to great success and is able to nails Rosey with low blows to keep him off his feet and in pain. Super Stacy has enough and slaps Daivari after distracting him. Rosey follows it up with the Super Hero Slam for the win.
(Rosey +2, Daivari -2)

Tag Titles Tournament Quarter-Finals:
T-N-T (Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch) defeated V-Squared (Val Venis and Viscera) when T. Murdoch defeated V. Venis when V. Venis passed out in a figure-four leglock in 0:16:43.
Rating: *

A plodding back and forth matchup. Cade & Murdoch attempted to brawl their way too victory, but Big Vis sometimes barely noticed they were striking him, or he just didn't bother to react. Venis picked up the technical slack in the match, but Murdoch got the better of him with a chain wrapped around his hand. The ref didn't see it, but awarded the match to TNT since Venis was out.
(Lance Cade +1, Trevor Murdoch +1, Viscera -1, Val Venis -1)

Tag Titles Tournament Quarter-Finals:
Monsters (The Big Show and Kane) defeated The Heart Throbs (Romeo and Antonio) when B. Show pinned Antonio with the Choke Slam in 0:13:57.
Rating: * 1/2

The Heart Throbs had their serious faces on and went into this match with grim determination. They knew that if they could beat the Monsters then the titles are as good as theirs. They used hit-and-run offense very well. Regrouping outside and double-teaming whenever possible. Still, the result was forseeable. Monsters advance.
(The Big Show +2, Kane +1, Romeo -1, Antonio -2)

Tag Titles Tournament Quarter-Finals:
No-Fault Problem Solvers (Tyson Tomko and Snitsky) defeated Shawn Michaels and Shelton Benjamin when T. Tomko pinned S. Benjamin after a Yakuza kick in 0:06:26.
Rating: * 1/4

Snitsky and Michaels went straight for each other with Snitsky getting the upper hand while brawling. Tomko helped Snitsky by providing extra muscle and distracting the referee at key times. Michaels' protege Shelton Benjamin got caught on the wrong side of the ring and a Yakuza Kick followed by a handful of thights ended this match. Michaels is more than pissed and Snitsky just leaves the ring with Tomko and a shit-eating grin on his face.
(Tyson Tomko +3, Snitsky +1, Shawn Michaels -1, Shelton Benjamin -3)

Tag Team Titles Tournament Quarter-Finals:
Rob Conway and Edge defeated Rob Van Dam and Tajiri when R. Conway pinned RVD with the Ego Trip in 0:10:40.
Rating: *** 1/2
[Lita interfered against Tajiri.]

Early in the match Edge hit a tope on Tajiri and both of them landed badly on the front edge of the announcer's table. They were okay, but RVD and Conway pretty much wrestled a singles match as their partners were in no shape to be tagged in. Conway wrestles a strong match and gets a sound pin. Edge & Conway advance.
(Rob Conway +2, Edge +1, Rob Van Dam -2, Tajiri -1)

Main Event:
Chris Masters, Kurt Angle and Carlito defeated Chavo Guerrero, John Cena and Ric Flair when C. Masters made J. Cena submit to the Masterlock in 0:16:58.
Rating: ** 1/2

Triple H may have had a point when he said Chris Masters was ready for the big time. Masters snaps his Masterlock on WWE champion John Cena and to the shock on the entire crowd, Cena taps out. Of course Kurt Angle helped a great deal by taking on and wearing down both Cena & Guerrero. Angle seemed annoyed that Masters got the win and the credit for the victory. Flair and Carlito also had a great exchange, but neither could put away each other.
(Chris Masters +4, Kurt Angle +1, Carlito +1, Chavo Guerrero -1, John Cena -4, Ric Flair -1)

Card rating: ** 1/4
KagePosted on 01/02/06 at 07:18:59

Oh no... CHris Masters is top contender... Hey wait leats he's not coming to get ya!

That's a great idea! Honky Tonk should come out of
retirement and tutor The Boogey Man and he could be the Boogie Man...

Please let the Monsters when the tag belts...
