TNA Impact! - 01/05/06

4 Live Kru (BG James and Kip James) defeated Team Canada (Bobby Roode and Eric Young) when BG James defeated E. Young by disqualification in 0:02:21.
Rating: * 1/4
[Scott D'Amore interfered against BG James.]

This wasn't really a match as it was a setup for a beat-down! Scotty D'Amore passed Eric Young the hockey stick, who smacked BG James upside the head as the rest of Team Canada hit the ring. It's a 4-on-2 attack until Ron Killings and a reluctant Konnan arrive weilding chairs to drive away the Canucks.
(BG James +1, Kip James +1, Bobby Roode -1, Eric Young -1)

Raven defeated Petey Williams by disqualification in 0:09:07.
Rating: * 3/4

What a great match! Petey Williams held the advantage for most of the match, sending Raven flying with some incredible innovation. Raven is one of those guys that can change the complexion of an entire match with one move, especially if that move is the Raven Effect through the announcer's table!! A frustrated Petey Williams lashes out at referee Andrew Thomas after Raven kicked out after the Canadian Destroyer piledriver. That earns him a DQ loss.
(Raven +1, Petey Williams -1)

Christian Cage pinned Chris Harris with the Unprettier in 0:13:57.
Rating: *** 1/2

An important match as Christian Cage must prove himself by facing half of the TNA tag team champs. Of course, Jeff Jarrett sat on commentary to distract Cage. it almost was enough, but Christian kicked out after the Catatonic and executed the Unprettier for the pin. Jarrett was not happy.
(Christian Cage +2, Chris Harris -2)

Card rating: ** 3/4

Austin Aries has given notice.

This is one of the things I'm looking out for - with Aires giving notice, I assume he's up for grabs with the other feds now, Ja? If so, how do you decide who gets him or what order everyone comes in to try and hire him?

When a wrestler quits, they go to The Indies. A massive 200+ wrestler fed that just runs random cards.  It's essentially a big hiring pool.

The only time feds get to hire new wrestlers is after their monthly supercard (or PPV). They get two opportunities to hire someone, but rejections are honored. For example,  Ring of Honor's SuperCard (they decided to hold their early instead of at the end of month like everyone else), after the card they attempted to hire Hector Garza (he refused) and The Amazing Red (refused as well). So Ring of Honor didn't hire any new wrestlers in January.

Out of laziness, all of the Indies wrestlers start off with a push of 25. The weekly wrap-up cards they have affect their overall push.  So the more they win, the higher push they have. The higher the push they have, the more a fed will want to hire them. Right now, Mike Mondo has the highest Indie push, when Austin Aries leaves TNA (in about a month), he will have the highest Indie Push and therefore will be the top prospect.

The next supercard is... TNA on the 15th. Most likely, Mike Mondo will be the first person they approach.

I know.. It's a bunch of convoluted busywork, but that's how I TNM.

I've never seen 'TNM' used as a verb until now. ;)

That's what I love about the english language. It's so damn flexible.  Any concept can be made into a verb, noun, adjective, adverb, etc..

Try doing that with those damned rigid romance languages.

I find your rules for running a wrestling universe intriguing. I tried to do something like this myself a year or two back, but discovered that running the entire WWE was more than enough work :(

I would really like you to do a complete writeup of all your rules, but I guess running a complete universe must be time-consuming enough as it is ;)

There's a post in the TNM Circuits folder called "The Unverse (Introduction)" It pretty much has all the rules I'm using.

TNA - Xplosion! - 01/07/06

Abyss pinned Shark Boy with the Black Hole Slam in 0:11:43.
Rating: ***
[Father James Mitchell interfered against Shark Boy.]

Shark Boy draws Abyss into a comedy match! The antics keep the crowd amused for a little while until Father James Mitchell knocks Shark Boy off the top tope and angerily yells at Abyss to finish him off. Abyss does so.
(Abyss +2, Shark Boy -2)

Sabu pinned Matt Bentley with the Triple Jump Moonsault in 0:05:32.
Rating: *** 1/4

Bentley put up a bit of a fight, but Sabu was on fire tonight. Totally dismantling the young Bentley and put him away with the Triple Jump Moonsault. The cocky Bentley seemed a little in awe of the hardcore legend and wasn't on his game tonight.
(Sabu +2, Matt Bentley -2)

Apolo defeated Christopher Daniels via pinfall in 0:15:08.
Rating: *** 1/2

Daniels appeared to have taken this match lightly and didn't really prepared for it. Apolo summoned some Inner Fury about halfway through the match and plants Daniels with two huge Uranage Suplexes. Daniels is knocked loopy and a stiff back elbow knocks him down long enough for the count. Apolo just stuned the TNA wrestling community by making good on his boast that he will become a force to be reckoned with in the X Division.  You can bet Daniels will be looking for revenge.
(Apolo +5, Christopher Daniels -5)

Team 3D (Brother Devon and Brother Ray) defeated Team Canada (Bobby Roode and Petey Williams) when B. Ray defeated B. Roode by disqualification in 0:12:05.
Rating: * 3/4

Team Canada has been running roughshod over anyone in TNA lately and tonight the Dud- ahem, Team 3D was no exception. It was a clean match for the most part, but once it became obvious that Team 3D was about to win, Coach Scotty was right there with a hockey stick to even the odds. He evened them a bit too much as Team Canada earns another DQ.
(Brother Ray +1, Brother Devon +1, Bobby Roode -1, Petey Williams -1)

Main Event:
Rhino pinned James Storm after a power bomb in 0:08:10.
Rhino tore his left rotator cuff. He will be out for approximately 7 months.
Rating: ** 1/2

Christian Cage defeated Chris Harris on Impact and now Rhino disposes of James Storm with a powerbomb. Rhino was favoring his left shoulder after Storm ran him into the ringpost. Later on the TNA website broke the bad news. Rhino will be out until July with a left rotator cuff injury. Somewhere I'm sure Jarrett is smiling.
(Rhino +1, James Storm -1)

Card rating: ** 1/2
