WWE: Friday Night Smackdown! - 01/06/06

Paul London pinned Super Crazy with the London Calling in 0:08:24.
Rating: *** 1/2

Great showcase match for the cruiserweight division. Both London and Crazy fought a clean match, but London increasingly went the extra mile pulling out some amazing spots. Crazy tried to keep up with a more conservative mat-based style, but London put him away with the London Calling.
(Paul London +2, Super Crazy -2)

William Regal and Paul Burchill defeated The Dicks (James Dick and Chad Dick) when W. Regal pinned J. Dick with his special move in 0:16:20.
Rating: ** 1/4

A surprisingly tough match for both teams involved as they jockey for position for future title shots. Regal dominated the match, having more experience than the other 3 combined, but ended up taking most of the punishment. Even bleeding hardway after a spill outside. Thinking quickly, Regal went old-school and pulled out the brass knux in order to use the "Power of the Punch" behind the ref's back to get his team a victory.
(William Regal +1, Paul Burchill +1, James Dick -1, Chad Dick -1)

Kid Kash made Rey Mysterio submit to an armbar submission in 0:16:00.
Rating: **** 1/4

Kash mixed up aerial moves with mat-based submission in what proved to be a winning combination. It also helped that Rey landed akwardly on his left arm halfway through the match. Kash slapped away Rey's handshake attempt and decided to celebrate instead to the boos of the audience. This is a major victory for Kid Kash, can he capitalize on it?
(Kid Kash +4, Rey Mysterio -4)

Brian Kendrick and Matt Hardy defeated MNM (Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro) when M. Hardy defeated J. Nitro by disqualification in 0:02:19.
Rating: *
(MNM retained the WWE Tag Team Titles.)

The Tag Titles are on the line as Matt Hardy & Brian Kendrick try to take advantage to win some championship gold. But MNM know the rules and proceed to choke Mat hardy against the rope well past the 5 count and gladfully take the DQ loss and retain the belts.
(Brian Kendrick +1, Matt Hardy +1, Johnny Nitro -1, Joey Mercury -1)

Main Event:
Randy Orton pinned The Undertaker with the RKO in 0:11:26.
Rating: ** 3/4

I guess the Undertaker felt like working on regular TV as Long said this rematch would happen tonight! Randy Orton has grown increasing familiar with Undertaker's tactics and mind games, and is claiming immunity from them. We've heard that before, but Orton backs it up by snapping the RKO on Undertaker and gets a suspiciously quick 3 count. The Ortons and referee Charles Robinson leave the ring pretty quick afterwards. Was this a setup?
(Randy Orton +3, The Undertaker -3)

Card rating: ** 1/2

I like the point system.  Also, it is interesting to see we both have Orton in our main event, though I know this is fed 5,009,468, 967,098 for you.  I'm kidding, I enjoy the read.  I hate to see Crazy lose.  He's my boy.

Heh.. one more fed, then the magic number 10 is reached, then it's just a matter of running cards.

I dig the Mexicools, too. Juventud has always done well unbooked for me, so I'm expecting a long reign for him (he's still CW champ)

WWE: Velocity On-Line - 01/07/06

Mark Henry and Doug Basham and Backstage Announcer Team (Josh Matthews and Funaki) battled to a double countout in 0:11:50.
Rating: 3/4*

Plodding match with Mark Henry no-selling like he had a reputation to protect. Because of their size, Matthews and Funaki were the underdogs and they worked their asses off and managed to get a few near falls on Mark Henry, but Doug Basham's tag experience paid off as he kept Henry in the match. The match spilled outside and Henry forgot to roll Matthews back into the ring in time and the ref ruled it a double countout.

Steven Richards pinned Nunzio with the Stevie-T in 0:07:32.
Rating: ***

Nunzio controlled this match from the beginning, but he spent too much time jawing with the crowd, and not enough time trying to get a win. Richards rallied with some power moves and hit the Stevie-T Superkick out of nowhere and got the win! Nunzio has to be disapointed with that outcome.
(Steven Richards +3, Nunzio -3)

Heidenreich pinned Sylvan with the Spinning Side Slam in 0:12:58.
Rating: DUD

Sylvan starts to make fun of Heidenreich's skull facepaint and Heidenreich doesn't need much more prompting than that to start clubbering Sylvan. Sylvan is able to keep up with his stronger opponent with timely underhanded moves like a low blow or an eye poke that changes the tide in an instant. It's not enough though, as Heidenreich plants the Spinning Side Slam for the win.
(Heidenreich +2, Sylvan -2)

Main Event:
Lashley pinned Vito with the Running Powerslam in 0:11:57.
Rating: 1/4*
(Animal no-showed.)

No explanation is given for Animal's absence. Lashley fills in as Vito's opponent. Vito may be tough, but Lashley is one bad motherfu(Shut yo' mouth!) I'm just talking about Lashley! In all seriousness, though. Lashley just beat down Vito.
(Lashley +2, Vito -2)

Card rating: 3/4*
