NEW - New Era Wrestling - Presented by Pulsar

PulsarPosted on 08/21/06 at 03:16:10

Ok, it's been a long enough time since I ran a circuit and actually posted it. I think the last one that actually saw the light of day was running Raw in the TNM Umbrella with Rey. So, without further ado, I bring you New Era Wrestling.

The Premise

Operating in a world against both NWA-TNA and WWE (and all three of there brands), Robert Goodwin has finally started his own wrestling federation. Instead of worrying about the hiring and firing of wrestlers, Goodwin has made a new idea. Goodwin hired the top 8 available Managers & Valets, and told them all to get 5 clients each. Instead of the every day John vs. Adam or Jeff vs. Steve, NEW will highlight on a strong and healthy Tag Team division, as well as a set of Titles for the #1 stable. To strengthen the tag division, each stable MUST contain one permanent Tag Team. This tag team can not be separated unless at least one team mate is fired, nor can the wrestlers compete individually.

The Roster

Team 1:
Manager: Bill Alfonso

Masato Tanaka
Yoshihiro Tajiri
Chris Chetti
The Lost Boys (Azrael/Gabriel)

Bill Alfonso was at one time a big name in ECW, managing Sabu to an ECW Heavyweight title, Taz during the beginning of his mainstream career, and Rob Van Dam to the TV title. Since then, Bill has all but fallen off the map, but is now back.

Bill Alfonso went back to where he knew best and picked up two former ECW stars in Masato Tanaka & Yoshihiro Tajiri, as well as Chris Chetti, the cousin of one of his former clients, and a young tag team in The Lost Boys. Alfonso's team consists of some really good workers, and a decent mix of youth and expirience, but definetely has both conflicting lifestyles and a language barrier to overcome.

Team 2
Managed by Elektra
Brock Lesner
Heidenreich
Chuck Palumbo
The Headhunters

Elektra was another ECW alumni, but really only made a splash at the very end. Elektra does not have any former champions under her belt to yet, but will definetely try to add some in NEW.

Elektra's initial team is definetely star-studded with former WWE Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesner leading the way. Also, two former WWE Tag Team champions Heidenreich & Chuck Palumbo. Finally, the tag team representatives are The Headhunters, not really known for being in USA, but were a bit part of the now defunct FMW in Japan. Elektra's strength is by-far the size, being the largest stable in the league, and has a lot of upside. If she can revamp the image of her team, they definetely will be a force to reckon with.

Team 3:
Managed by Daffney

Goldust
Lance Storm
Christian York
The Can-Am Express (Doug Furnas & Phil LaFon)

Daffney was a former manager in WCW, who has been floating around, appearing here and there ever since it's demise. Daffney's claim to fame, besides her patented scream, has been coaching the odd team of David Flair and Crowbar to the WCW Tag Team titles

Daffney's team is a well balanced mix of everything. Goldust is definetely an odd character, but that's right up Daffney's alley. She also managed to grab Lance Storm, a great in-ring star who recently came out of retirement to return. Christian York is definetely a young compliment to a group of veterans. Finally, the Can-Am Express are decent workers, with enough years together under there belts to dominate.

Team 4:
Managed by Jason

Chris Jericho
Johnny Stamboli
"All That" Adam Jacobs
Da Baldies (Tony Devito/Angel)

The World's sexiest man is back to play. Jason, who started as both a wrestler and manager, was at one time a major player in ECW. He managed The Eliminators and The Impact Players both to gold, and moved Justin Credible up from Aldo Montoya to Heavyweight champ.

Jason had a knack for tag teams, but passed on some former champions, and went with Da Baldies as his tag team. Granted Tony Devito has managed to keep himself out there with work, mainly RoH, Angel has all but disappeared. Jason definetely counter-punched with grabbing Chris Jericho, quite possibly the most influential pick of all. Jason's team is rounded off with Johnny Stamboli, a good, young powerhouse, and Adam Jacobs, an impressive high-flyer without any mainstream exposure to this point.

Team 5
Managed by Joel "Insert Funny phrase here" Gertner

Amazing Red
A-Train
Axl Rotten
Hot Commodity (Julio Dinero/Chris Hamrick)

Joel Gertner is not known as much as a manager as he is a loud-mouthed sexual God. Lest we forget, Joel did manage the Dudley Boyz to numerous ECW Tag Team Gold, and still knows how to get the job done.

Gertner's team was a good mix of old and new. The yound Red was a stud in the X-Division but has been missed for a little while, and NEW fans are welcoming him with open arms. A-Train has been working hard in Japan, and is ready to try his hand again in the US. Axl Rotten's pick was just someone Joel knew well from his ECW days, and at least they are comfortable with eachother. Hot Commodity are not exactly making waves, but will definetely be a sleeper if an eye is not kept on them.

Team 6:
The New Dangerous Alliance
Managed by Lou E. Dangerously

Diamond Dallas Page
Buff Bagwell
Air Paris
The Dicks (Chad & James Dick)

Lou E. was more known for being the quiet and random Sign Guy Dudley, then he was for being loud and obnoxious with Bill Wiles and CW Anderson. He's competing against former ally Joel Gertner over who was responsible for the Dudley Boyz success.

In his last stint as manager, Lou went with variable unknowns and they stayed that way. This time, Lou signed two big name stars in DDP & Buff Bagwell. Granted both me are past their primes, but Lou definetely feels the "still puts butts in seats" factor is still in play with these two. He did grab a young solid tag team in the Dicks, who may be reverting to their old names very soon, and a young high-flyer in Air Paris.

Team 7
Managed by Tammy Lynn Sytch

D'Lo Brown
Big Guido
Brad Armstrong
The Hearthrobs (Antonio/Romeo)

Tammy has been everywhere you can imagine. She's managed Tag Team champs almost anywhere you can imagine. Due to drug use and depression, she went on a downward spiral, but the death of her husband has made her turn her life around, and she's back with a vengence to prove she still has it.

Tammy could've grabbed a surprise hit in D'Lo Brown, who has good charisma and in-ring ability, and could help her catapult over some of the bigger names. Brad Armstrong, while never being a big name, or much of anything, definetely brings with him numerous years of expirience, and could help more as a coach then a player. Big Guido is here not for anything other then every team needs a muscle. Finally, the Hearthrobs are a good young team, and with their looks and style, bring some nostalgia to Tammy's mind

Team 8
Managed by Stacy Kiebler

Billy Kidman
Blitzkreig
Barry Horowitz
T-N-T (Tony Stradlin/Todd Sexton)

Stacy is not known as much for her skills but for her legs. She has been on top for long, and now, minus a short stint where she thought she was better then wrestling, she's crawling back. Stacy's career was pretty much "throw her with some random people" but she has a chance to make her own choice.

OK, so Stacy's team isn't exactly high marquee. The biggest name is Billy Kidman, who is rumored to have been picked as a favor to former friend Torrie Wilson. T-N-T were picked by Stacy not because they are decent young workers, or because they could be a hot commodity, but because they're "cute". Blitzkreig was one of the few wrestlers Stacy picked based on talent, but Stacy was remembering her days from WCW with him more then anything else. And finally, the most expirienced member of the team, sadly enough, is Barry Horowitz. When asked why she picked someone who hasn't won more then a handful of matches in 20 years or so, Kiebler's response was "I used to have a crush on Billy Ray Cyrus."

Definitely a cool idea. I'm looking forward to seeing who's going to be brought in. This is a good way to bring in a sporting atmosphere with the teams.
HugeRockStar760Posted on 08/21/06 at 04:49:46

Definitely an interesting idea that is different. It sort of reminds me of the AWA Team Challenge Series.
Rick GarrardPosted on 08/21/06 at 05:10:43

If Jake the Milkman Milliman wins the battle royal for the the million dollars for his team, I will stop watching.  ;)

Wow guys, thanks for the instant feedback. Best part about the roster, i hired a bunch of guys first, and then just filled in the rest. The results were odd to say the least. Also, all teams were done randomly. All I have to say is wait until you see Stacy Kiebler's team. After work this evening (and during Raw), I will finish the roster and MAY post the first show by then.
PulsarPosted on 08/22/06 at 05:28:40

Roster is finished, now the card will try to be added tomorrow, if we're all lucky
meetzorakPosted on 08/22/06 at 06:00:54

I love this idea and im almost positive its on the path to greatness. Will anymore teams be added?

I would to close this post this classic line.

And finally, the most expirienced member of the team, sadly enough, is Barry Horowitz. When asked why she picked someone who hasn't won more then a handful of matches in 20 years or so, Kiebler's response was "I used to have a crush on Billy Ray Cyrus."
Rick GarrardPosted on 08/22/06 at 06:08:30

How Disney of her to reply that way.  ;)
PulsarPosted on 08/22/06 at 07:39:50

Teams will be added as either A) I can remember how to correctly use managers or B) WWE & TNA release some of theirs.

Remember, I'm competeing with the big 2...or 4, whichever way you look at it, so my roster is kind of slim. Notice that Barry Horowitz AND Brad Armstrong have jobs?
