WWF 1988 TNM Circuit

lazy_duckPosted on 08/08/06 at 00:48:00

Hello fellow TMNers I'm relatvely new around here. but I've been lerking for about 3 months as a guest reading all the great circuits on here. I've decided to try my luck and post my 1st TNM circuit here open for those who care to read. It will be an old school WWF Fed around 1988 when I believe WWF was at it's most enjoyable. This is a booked Fed and since ths is a first time event I hope it passes muster.

Feedback is encouragded but not required and as my 2 new friends Snabbit888 and and Rick Garrard stated in another post. Don't do it for anyone else but for yourself. That I will but can't hurt to see what others think :)

To long of an intro so I give you my version of the WWF circa 1988 if I had been running it.

Match observations:

Saturday Night Main Event 1/2/06 was not what was expected as histiry was made.

Strike Force held onto the the WWF Tag Team Titles over The Bolsheviks and Jake "the Snake Roberts took care of The "Savage Samoan" Sika. In an upset "The Birdman" Koko Beware defeated "The Hammer" Greg Valentine, but the upset of the night had to be the end of Hulk Hogan's WWF Heavyweight Title reign of 4 years as King Kong Bundy did the unthinkable by getting a 3 count on Hogan here on Saturday Night Main Event. How will this ripple throught out WWF? Find out next week on Thursday Night Titans.
Snabbit888Posted on 08/08/06 at 00:58:22

Wow... did not expect King Kong Bundy to take the World Title on your first show.  We'll see where this goes.
americamamushiPosted on 08/08/06 at 01:10:23

Snabbit and Rick are your new friends and yet I am not? *gasp* :) My awesomeness at least surpasses Snabbit's by a factor of 2 ;)

I was a little surprised to see Bundy take the title home tonight too.  I imagine Hogan won't just let the belt slip away from him that easily though.

Looking forward to more :)
Rick GarrardPosted on 08/08/06 at 01:56:43

apparently it did come crashing down and it did hurt inside.  And Hogan lost to sexual vanilla!!! woo!

Tonight on Thursday Night Titans, "Dangerous" Dan Spivey had to work but did eventually defeat "Leaping" Lanny Poffo. In the ring, Mean Gean Oakerland talked to the former WWF Heavyweight champ Hulk Hogan who was obviously upset with his loss to King Kong Bundy last week.

Hulk Hogan: For almost 4 years I defended that belt against the greatest names in the world of wrestling. Maybe I got to complacent, maybe I under estimated my opponent, I don't know. What I do know is that on January 24th, Royal Rumble, Ontario Canada, Hulk Hogan, King Kong Bundy, 1 more time for the WWF Heavyweight title! Bundy, Whatcha gona do when all these Hulkamaniacs and these 24 inch pythons come down on you!

Canadian Strong Man Dino Bravo took care of Hillbilly Jim and "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan pinned the "Savage Samoan" Sika. Ted DiBiase weighed in on the current situation with the WWF Heavyweight title.

Ted DiBiase: Hogan, you losing the title to King Kong Bundy changes nothing when it comes to what I want and what I get. At Royal Rumble on January 24th, when I win it and become the #1 Contender, it will be mine. I don't care who's ugly carcass it's around. Everyone has a price and everyone has to pay.

The Main Event featured the Ultimate Warrior taking care of "Outlaw" Ron Bass for the victory. Join us next Monday on WWF Primetime with Hosts "Gorilla" Monsoon and Bobby "The Brain" Heenen.

WWF Primetime was gearing up for the Royal Rumble as a couple of more challenges were laid out. Jim Powers and Paul Roma defeated the Islanders by disqualification when "The Brain" Decided he seen enough and interfered in the match. Ken Patera pinned the Junk Yard Dog. WWF Heavyweight Champion King Kong Bundy responded to Hogan's Challenge last week on TNT.

King Kong Bundy: You know Hogan, We had to hear you go on and on for 4 years about how you were the greatest, how you couldn't be stopped. Well guess what? Someone stopped you and that someone was me King Kong Bondy. Now one half of me wants to tell you go jump off a bridge but the other half says lets do it, so Hogan you got it. At Royal Rumble I will show the world that what happened last week was no fluke and that Hogan is mortal after all.

The Bolsheviks made quick work of the British Bulldogs and we heard from one Ricky Steamboat.

Ricky Steamboat: Honky Tonk Man, each week I come out here and challenge you for a shot at the Intercontinental title and each week you ignore me. Then I watch as you cheat your way out of every title shot you've had. Well guess what? I just found out that at Royal Rumble the running stops, the hiding ends and I finally get my shot at the title.

Hercules Hernandez took care of Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake and Strike Force defeated the "Fabulous" Rougeau Brothers and retains the WWF Tag Team Titles. The second hour got on the way "Mean" Gean Okerlund talked to the "Macho" one Randy Savage.

Randy Savage: Well you know Mean Geane, I keep hearing about who's going to win the Rumble and who will face who for the WWF Heavyweight title and yet, I hear no mention of the "Macho Man". That's not good Mean Gean, you see the "Macho Man" is one that should always be noticed, when you don't that's when bad things happen. January 24th, in Ontario Canada, "Macho Madness" is going to run throughout Canada when I win the Rumble and get my shot at the title. "Oh Yea!"

Demolition and the Hart Foundation battled to a time limit draw. One Man Gang hard work went up in smoke when Brutus Beefcake made his presence known during Gang's match against Valentine. "Ravishing" Rick Rude ended Jake "the Snake" Roberts night with a "Rude Awakening". Our Main event pitted Hulk Hogan against "the Outlaw" Ron Bass. It took a while but Hogan came out on top with the big leg drop. That's all for this week, make sure to check out TNT for the latest on the Royal Rumble.

It's booked, I'm working on something in he future with those 2 so the quickness of the match was not planned but will work out.
91Posted on 08/08/06 at 22:43:44

In that case...

Islands to beat the Stallions.

Beefcake SURELY to beat Valentine, unless you're taking that somewhere.

I'll pick Steamboat to beat Honky Tonk, that's the pick-em match of the night as it could go either way.

Bundy to beat Hogan, I'm thinking he's a transitional champ but you're going to use him to put the belt onto somebody else.

That said, not sure who that somebody else will be, but Randy Savage seems the most likely of the Royal Rumble bunch so he takes that match. And that's the one I'm looking forward to, I love seeing how people book their Royal Rumbles.

TNT got on the way with a great match with Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat taking out the "Canadian Strongman" Dino Bravo with a Cross Body Press. The Honky Tonk Man talked to Gene about his match at Royal Rumbe.

Honky Tonk Man I am the greatest Intercontinental champion there ever has been or will be. I have brought more honor and respect to this belt then anyone else. Now Steamboat thinks he will just come to Royal Rumble and take it just like that? Must be eating to many rice noodles if he think I am just going to let him walk away with my belt, but I'm sure after Royal Rumble Steamboat will be singing another tune.

The Junk Yard Dog get the win by DQ of the "Savage Samoan" Sika after Captin Lou Albano tripped the JYD. The Islanders made it clear that they were on a mission to take out Powers and Roma next Sunday.

Bobby "the Brain" Hennen Powers, Roma, This Sunday I will let loose the full rage that is Haku and Toma. These last few weeks have just been samplers, just enough for you two to realize that you two are out of your league. Haku and Toma will destroy you.

Hercules Hernandez made George "the Animal" Steel submit and in a long running feud, "Ravishing" Rick Rude defeated Jake "the Snake" Robers with the Rude Awakening. The hammer told Gene that a haircut was not in his future.

Greg "The Hammer" Valentine Beefcake if you think your getting anywhere close to these golden locks with those shears your sadly mistaken. Next Sunday at Royal Rumble it will be you who will getting a little trim. Trust me , I may not be "the Barber" but I'll make you look just fine. hee hee.

In the Main event The Hart Foundation beat Demolition by DQ when Mr. Fuji hit Bret Hart in the back with his cane. Next Monday more exciting WWF Action and on TNT will get you ready for the Royal Rumble. I'm "Mean" Gean Okerlund and will see you next time!
CarlzillaPosted on 08/10/06 at 07:24:28

I'm looking forward to the Rumble, it's always been my favorite WWF/E PPV. Granted I haven't seen one since like 1994 or 95...but the concept is still my favorite.

I like that you hyped it well in advance, it makes me anticipate it, unlike now-a-days when we have like 3 ppv's a month, and none of them are important at all. I miss the good ol' days.

I don't have any predictions really, but I'm pulling for Ricky Steamboat to win the IC title and for Ted DiBiase to win the Rumble and challenge for the Heavyweight title, which I think Hogan will win.

Hosts - "Gorilla" Monsoon and Jesse "the Body" Ventura

Monsoon: Welcome everyone to WWF Primetime. I'm "Gorilla" Monsoon and with me by my side is "The Body" Jesse Ventura. Last night was the Royal Rumble, and if you missed it, you missed a great show. Tonight Jesse we also have a great show.

Ventura: That's right Monsoon; tonight we get to find out the answer to the question everyone has been asking since last night, Why?

Monsoon: If you missed it last night, In the main event, Hulk Hogan was on the verge of reclaiming the WWF Heavyweight title when King Kong Bundy pushed the ref into the path of a charging Hulk Hogan. With all 3 men out, Ted DiBiase and Andre the Giant came down to ring side and started attacking Hulk Hogan. They then rolled Bundy on top of Hogan and revived the ref securing that Bundy would hold onto the title.

Ventura: The way I see it, DiBiase and the Giant believe it would be easier to take the belt from Bundy then from Hogan, but were hear it from the man himself later tonight.

Monsoon: Also tonight in the ring Brutus "the Barber" Beefcake will shave the head of one Greg Valentine who lost the hair vs hair match yesterday at Royal Rumble.

Ventura: That is despicable Monsoon. I for one hope Valentine will no show.

Monsoon: Tonight we will hear from WWF Commissioner Jack Tunney and much more so let's get to the action.

Bam Bam Bigelow pinned Ken Patera after a splash in 0:06:28.

Monsoon: Welcome back to Primetime in a few minutes will go back stage to WWF Commissioner Jack Tunney who will give us in update on the coming events

Ventura: Do we have to listen to this blowhard? I mean come on what's so important that they have to roll his butt out from the shadows?

Monsoon: Show some respect man, he's your boss.

Ventura: Not mine.

Monsoon: Anyway here is Commissioner Jack Tunney.

Backstage we see Jack Tunney sitting behind a desk with the WWF logo behind him

Tunney: Ladies and Gentlemen, first of all I want to thank everyone who made Royal Rumble a success Sunday and the millions of viewers at home to help make Royal Rumble one of the highest PPV events of the year, Now, since last night, the WWF offices have been receiving thousands of calls about the main event in which some believe Hulk Hogan was cheated out of winning the WWF Heavyweight title. We all witnessed the attack on Hogan from one Ted DiBiase and Andre the Giant but the results of that match will stand. The official on site called the match and the match results will be recorded. On Saturday Nights Main Event in Indianapolis Indiana February 6th Andre the Giant will get his title shot against the reigning WWF champion King Kong Bundy. Ted DiBiase will also be wrestling Saturday as he will face Hulk Hogan in a #1 Contenders match. Winner will face the winner of the Bundy/Giant match at Wrestlemania 4 in Atlantic City. We feel this is the best way to clear up this mess. Thank you and enjoy the rest of the show.

Monsoon: Wow Saturday Nights Main event, February 6th will have the clash of the titans as Andre the Giant will face the WWF Champion King Kong Bundy and to top it off Ted DiBiase will face Hulk Hogan and the winner goes to Wrestlemania 4 the #1 Contender.

Ventura: I wonder how this will affect the Million Dollar Mans attempt to buy the title. If Andre wins Saturday and hands the title over to DiBiase and DiBiase wins his match against Hogan who will DiBiase face at Wrestlemania?

Monsoon: All good questions Jesse will make sure we get Mean Gene to ask the Million Dollar Man when he speaks to him later. Lets get back to some wrestling action.

Monsoon: Welcome back to WWF Primetime and if you're just joining us big news just dropped here tonight by Commissioner Jack Tunney. On February 5th on Saturday Nights Main Event, Andre the Giant will face King Kong Bundy for they WWF Heavyweight title and The "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase will meet up against Hulk Hogan. The winners will face each other at Wrestlemania 4 for the WWF Heavyweight title.

Ventura: Monsoon if you ask me this works right into the hands of DiBiase and the Giant they hold all the cards right now.

Monsoon: Let's go to the ring with Mean Gean Okerland.

In the ring

Mean Gean: Hello folks please welcome to the ring "the Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase and the winner of the 1988 Royal Rumble, Andre the Giant!

Boos hit the arena as the music of the Million Dollar Man hits. Down come DiBiase and followed by the Giant. The get to the ring and stand on either side of Okurland.

Mean Gean: Ted DiBiase, You know the question on everyone minds tonight, why help King Kong Bundy hold onto his title yesterday at the Royal Rumble?

DiBiase: Geane, a man in my position and status in life shouldn't have to go around explaining himself to people like you or these minimum wage earners in the crowd tonight, but I feel that in order for the common folk to understand what is going on, I would lower my standards this one time. You see every great plan has a back up plan. When I was eliminated from the Royal Rumble I was not worried, I had a black up plan, a 7 foot back up plan.

Mean Gean: But why help King Kong Bundy?

DiBiase: Don't rush me Gene, Bundy is a cog in a well oiled plan. When the Giant levels Bundy and wins the WWF Heavyweight title he will hand it to me and I will have done what I said I was going to do.

Mean Gean: Why would the Giant just hand you the title?

DiBiase: Because Gean, I have invested a lot of time and money into the Giant. More money then some of you folks will see in a lifetime.

Mean Gean: How does the announcement from Jack Tunney change anything?

DiBiase: It doesn't Andre beats Bundy I beat Hogan I walk away WWF Heavyweight Champion. Simple, cause I have yet to come across a situation that money didn't make it better.

The music hits and the crowd lets them know what they think as we go to commercial.

Monsoon: Were back and the Million Dollar Man has basically said that come February 5th he will be the new WWF champion.

Ventura: And I have no reason to doubt him. He has the talent, the money and the Giant all in his corner.

Monsoon: That may be true but I'm sure Hogan will have something to say about this, Lets head to the ring.

Monsoon: The Junk Yard Dog making a statement here tonight that he wants a shot at the Honky Tonk Man's Intercontinental belt.

Ventura: Yea and so do everyone else in the WWF, He best wait his turn like everyone else.

Monsoon: Hey "Body" this just handed to me, tonight in our main event, Hulk Hogan and a Surprise partner will face Ted DiBiase and the Giant in tag team action.

Ventura: Wow I wonder who would want to team up with Hogan?

Monsoon: I'm sure anyone in this building would love to team up with him.

Ventura: Not me, but anyway, Sunday the Islanders put a whipping on Paul Roma and Jim Powers and were about to stomp them a new one when Strike Force came down to the ring. I'm sure Bobby has his boys pumped for this match.

The Ring is set up with a lone barbers chair as we hear the music of Brutus Beefcake as he makes his way down to thr ring with clippers in hand,

Beefcake: We all know what time it is don;t we? So Greg get you butt down here!

Greg Valentine slowly makes his way down to the ring running his fingers through his hair. He teps into the ring and looks at Beefcake

Beefcake: Now take a seat and I'll just take a little of the top.

Valentine looked at the chair and slowley mad his way over ewhn out of nowhere the Honky Tonk Man slams the Intercontinental belt accross the head of Beefcake. Both men start to stomp on him. Then Valintine gets the clippers and starts to cut Beefcakes hair. He cuts big chunks out and tosses it into the air. After a few cuts they both stomp on him somemore then exit the ring leaving in battered and shaved Beefcake.

Mean Gean: Randy Savage picks up a big win over Harly race, you have to wonder how Savage feels about Hogan and DiBiase fighting for a title shot at Wrestlemania. Last week Brutus "the Barber" Beefcake was to shave the head of one Greg Valentine but "the Hammer" had other ideas. Valentine pretended to go along but was setting up Beefcake for an attack by the WWF Intercontinental Champion Honky Tonk Man. They ended up giving Beefcake a shave. Tonight Beefccake and Steamboat faced off against Valentine and the Honky Tonk Man.

Mean Geane: It was touch and go there for a while as that weasel Bobby Hennen tried his best to change the momentum of the match. Last week I interviewd Dibiase
about his actions at Royal Rumble. The WWf Heavyweight Champion King Kong Bundy heard what was said and had this response.

King Kong Bundy: "Million Dollor Man" Contrary to what went down at Royal Rumble, I didn't need you or the Giant's help. I beat Hogan once, I was on my way to doing it again. Now about next week, Saturday Night Main Event, if you believe that I'm somehow an easier pin then Hogan then you my friend are in for a long night. Andre you may be the 8th wonder of the world but come Saturday I'm going to play Jack the Giant killer and for you DiBiase, you better hope you and me don't meet at Wrestlemania cause that's one situation I'm sure money wont help you.

WWF Primetime got on the way with Monsoon and Ventura talking more about last weeks announcement by WWF Commish Jack Tunney and what will go down this Saturday in Inianapolis. On TNT, the WWF Heavyweight Champion King Kong Bundy made it clear that if Andre the Giant and Ted DiBiase thought he was an easier pin then Hogan, they were in for a long night Saturday. If his boys win then they meet Saturday for the titles, If they lose one of the matches, then they will back away from challenging for the titles. When Primetime returned Hercules Hernandez defeated "the Golden Boy" Dan Spivey with a Backbreaker. With a title shot on the line Toma pinned Tito Santanna with a headbunt. "The Macho Man" Randy Savage had no problem taking out "Leaping" Lenny Poffo.

The Honky Tonk man talked about how many have tried and many have failed to take the Intercontinental belt from him. He tells Steamboat that to show that he is a good guy will give him his last try. If he can beat him this Saturday he will give him his last title shot at Wrestlemania 4. If not then thats it no more.

In the second singles match between the Islanders and Strike Force, Haku got Martel counted out when Hennan held on to Martel's leg just out of sight of the ref for the count out. With the victory the Islanders get there title shot Saturday.

In the main event the British Bulldogs who have been on a run lately faced Mr Fuji and Demolition.
