Match observations:

The inagural episode of Luchavision went off without a hitch. 1 1/2 hours of awesome
lucha action, although the regular shows will be 2 hours long, this was kind of a special
deal for the first one.

Our first Una Lucha Tornament (which means One Fight Tornament, probably do to the
fact that all the wrestlers involved would be fighting at once) saw Rey Bucanero come
out on top of 9 other luchadors and advance to the finals to fight for the title of
Luchador Sobretodo Otros (Wrestler Above All Others). Bucanero picked up eliminations
on Ricky Marvin, El Ganador (The Winner) and Dr. Wagner Jr.. He was asked about the
other competitors and said he'd be watching the other tournament backstage to see who
came out on top, but that in the end it didn't even matter, because he was better than
any of those fools.

Cthulhu, who was making his first appearance in a wrestling ring, picked up what many
are calling an upset in the second Una Lucha Tornament. Indirectly beating out active
legends like El Hijo Del Santo and Ultimo Guerrero. Cthulhu gained a lot of jeers for
what many fans are calling "avoiding the action". He just sat back and let everyone
else battle it out until the end, when he came in and defeated a beaten Silver King
to advance to the finals and his chance at being crowned Luchador Sobretodo Otros.

Cthulhu and Bucanero started off with Cthulhu hitting some quick armdrags and trying
to make Bucanero work his pace, which is FAST. Bucanero eventually got control and
the match slowed down a bit, but it was Cthulhu's speed and quick thinking that lead
to the loss of the first fall for Bucanero, when Cthulhu countered a Bucanero lariat
with a quick crucifix for the 3 count. Bucanero who pretty much beat Cthulhu last fall
was not to happy about getting screwed out of what he thought was a sure fire win, and
just unloaded on the smaller Cthulhu for the second fall, and it was a quick one, with
Bucanero just pounding the crap out of Cthulhu and then hitting the Flying Twisting
Elbow for the pin. Cthulhu was looking to be in bad shape, and after the performance
in the Una Lucha Tornament, the fans didn't look to be on his side, despite their
dislike of Bucanero as well, so he had to think quick and hit a big counter armdrag
that sent Bucanero to the outside. Then came one of the most amazing displays of
areial highspottery this reporter has ever seen, Asai moonsault->rolling somersault->
moonsault plancha that landed on Rey Bucanero's shoulders allowing him to be head
scissored on the the outside, you really had to be there to appreciate the spectacle
of it. After that display, the fans seemed to warm up to the newcomer a little bit,
and he seemed to absorb their energy. Cthulhu was making a comeback, and Bucanero was
looking gassed out. Cthulhu kept the pace of the match at breakneck speed and was
able to best Bucanero with an Asai Moonsault Bodyblock for the win, which would make
him our first Luchador Sobretodo Otros. The crowd still wasn't sure exactly what they
thought of Cthulhu as we went off the air.

I like this.  It's a nice change of pace from what we regularly see on here.  I wish I could give more feedback, but I'll need some time to learn about these wrestlers more.

Two questions:

1) Booked or unbooked?

2) Does this mean your diary of a new wrestler idea is scrapped?

Please say it's not scrapped Carlzilla :)

1. Both, big matches and feud stuff are booked, but some of the opening stuff is unbooked, I like to see what TNM gives me, sometimes it creates a star all on it's own. At the same time, I don't want to have about 8 billion title changes in the span of a few months. For the record, this entire card was booked.

2. It's not scrapped, I haven't posted anything because I'm kinda at a crossroads of where I want to go with it. How detailed I want to get with things like my interaction with other wrestlers, since some of it would be out of character I feel a little uncomfortable with misportraying someone ect. I just need to figure out a set of guidelines to use in the writting and it's taking me a lot longer than I thought it would...if I had known it was going to take this long I would have held off on the initial post.

I agaree this is a new change and a refreshing one, I'll try to keep an eye on this one :)

Good first card. Is Cthulhu a created wrestler or a rookie? It's clear shenanigans Rey Bucanero didn't win though.
CarlzillaPosted on 08/10/06 at 05:32:47

Cthulhu
Ultimo Gringo (Ultimate Whiteguy)
El Ganador (The Winner -> not Barry Horowitz under a mask.)
Jesus P. Estrada
El Fuerza (The Force -> Father of Gran Fuerza)
Gran Fuerza (Great Force -> Son of El Fuerza)
Asesino (Killer)
Torres Poderoso (Mighty Torres)

Are all created wrestlers.

This is awesome to finally see a lucha promotion on the TNM Forums. Are you going to run a strict lucha style or integrating more of an American wrestling style, sort of like AAA which is less stricter than CMLL as far as the traditional lucha rules.

I think if I were to try to book a lucha promotion, I'd integrate more of an American style to it. It needs some variation to it.
CarlzillaPosted on 08/10/06 at 22:43:41

I don't really care for AAA so I'm sticking with more of the CMLL style. But this probably will not be a CMLL clone either. I'm sure I'll integrate some stuff, but I doubt if it'll be sports entertainment style stuff as I haven't watched a sports entertainment style fed in years.

Oh God, Lucha, this always blows my mind a little as I struggle to comprehend with so many Spanish names. You'll have to give me time on this one...

At least you stick to your beliefs in this area. I just haven't had a lot of opportunity to watch CMLL except for a few episodes before Galavision went to AAA exclusively.
