With just six days until Badd Blood, there was a chance for both champion and
challenger to impress - Don Muraco was competing in a six man tag alongside
Intercontinental champion Alex Wright and his bodyguard Ulf Herman against
somewhat of a dream team in Raven, Dynamite Kid and John Cena. Rhyno
meanwhile had a chance to send a message to Don Muraco by taking out his
manager, reigning cruiserweight champion Jeff Hardy, in a non title match.

Edge vs Curt Hennig

With the tag titles on the line at Badd Blood, the two teams involved had
another opportunity to feel out each other in another singles match, this time
between Curt Hennig and Edge. Last week, with help of one of the tag title
belts, Owen Hart was able to get a victory over Christian. And as per last
time, the partners of each combatant in the ring made their way out with Owen
first out and Christian quickly following. Meanwhile in the ring, Hennig and
Edge were putting out an excellent little clinic with both men matching the
other hold for hold.

Naturally it wouldn't last with those at ringside. Edge was starting to creep
ahead and may have gotten something for his troubles after hitting a Spear.
Owen was quickly over to place Hennigs foot on the ropes, much to the disdain
of Christian who gave chase in no time. It spilled into the ring where Edge
was still in control and the ref quickly grabbed the first cornerman he could,
which happened to be Christian, to admonish him and try to get him out of the
ring. Meanwhile Owen had grabbed one of the tag title belts and everything
was going exactly as it did two weeks ago when Hennig struck Christian with
the belt. This time Edge was ready and ducked when Owen swung and a kick to
the midsection put Owen down. Edge grabbed the belt and waffled Hennig with it
to put him out for the count.

Edge went for the cover but the ref was only just ushering Christian out of
the ring and now he was more concerned with getting Owen out too. Frustrated
at the delay, Christian came back in and took Owen down with a spinning heel
kick. Once again the ref admonished Christian, this time quite angrily, and
while both were distracted, Owen headed to the second rope and delivered a
legdrop onto the back of Edges head, while he was still making the cover.
Hennig rolled on top and the ref finally got his mind back on track to make the
count. That makes Pretty Perfect two for two in singles competition against
Edge and Christian. Can they make it third time lucky too this Sunday and take
the tag titles?

Curt Hennig pinned Edge after outside interference in 0:10:49.

The Syndicate vs La Resistance

The Syndicate are heading to the six man tag at Badd Blood with Matt Hardy
doing what he can to make life difficult for them. Meanwhile La Resistance also
head to the PPV with a different goal in mind, that the regaining of the
Intercontinental tag team titles from The Pitbulls. La Resistance aren't happy
that they've had to wait this long for their rematch, with Pitbull #1
suffering an injury that the French pair wouldn't want to hear has healed come
Badd Blood. So much so that they made remark that Matt Hardys decision was
a bad one and said he didn't contain the American values that they frequently
see in their favourite great American TV show, All My Children. Never happy to
take criticism, Matt threw the two teams against each other with the idea that
one team may lay waste to the other.

That didn't happen, though certainly with the rest he and his boys have had,
Matt Hardys team will have a slight advantage going into Badd Blood. The
Syndicate were favourites for this one though, being arguably the finest team
in the DWF today, and they showed it with an excellent and professional
performance. After a brief period in which La Resistance had the advantage,
Lance Storm made a blind tag in and began to take control. Shamrock was quickly
back in play and they took a man each to a corner to work over. A double atomic
drop followed with Dupree and Grenier being sent into each other and knocking
the latter from the ring. Storm then applied the Maple Leaf to a dazed Dupree
and Shamrock made sure there was no save, as the submission came and The
Syndicate scored the win.

The Syndicate (Lance Storm and Ken Shamrock) defeated
La Resistance (Rene Dupree and Sylvain Grenier) when L. Storm made R. Dupree
submit to the Maple Leaf in 0:09:11.

Rhyno vs Jeff Hardy (cruiserweight champion - non title match)

Rhyno was fully expected to beat Jeff Hardy with comparitive ease. Hardy may
be the cruiserweight champion but the way he's gone about his victories as of
late hasn't impressed many and Rhyno has gone through his opponents in a
fashion more than befitting of his number one contenders status. That was the
way things were panning out as Rhyno left nothing to the imagination, carving
his way through Hardy like nobody's business and it wasn't long before the
Gore took Jeff off his feet. That should have been it, but Rhyno was more
focused on getting the win than Don Muraco running to the ring and jumping
him from behind for the DQ before the cover could be made.

From there, Muraco administered a beatdown reminisce of Rhynos recent
attacks, only twice as harsh as Muraco consistently stomped and kicked at the
beaten Rhyno, before officials managed to usher his and Hardy out. Muraco
lifted the belt above his head briefly before leaving, and signalled that
Rhyno wouldn't stand a chance this Sunday.

Rhyno defeated Jeff Hardy by disqualification in 0:04:50.

Hunter Hearst-Helmsley & Rockabilly appear on the Kings Court

The Kings Courts guests this week were Hunter Hearst-Helmsley and Rockabilly.
If the big love-in they and King Kanyon wasn't nauseating enough, with their
mutual admiration society, we had to listen to the inane witterings of Helmsley
as he claimed that as a former world champion and as a man of such high class
and distinction, he would have no troubles in doing away with a "low life
commoner like that vile little wretch Brad Armstrong" this Sunday. Indeed, the
pair promised to oust Armstrong from the DWF permanently. When Kanyon asked
Rockabilly if he'd fancy getting into the ring with Armstrong again, Billy
shirked away and then said he had something even more entertaining in mind for
everyone - SHUFFLEBILLY!!

Just as Rockabilly began this most obnoxious of "moves", Armstrong rescued us
all by making his entrance. As he made his way down the aisle, Helmsley baited
"The Rock", telling him his days in the DWF were numbered because he was
nothing more than a peasant compared to all the class in the ring. Brad had
heard enough and charged in, as Helmsley and Rockabilly made a quick exit. For
all his sucking up to his guests, King Kanyon was left to suffer the wrath and
Armstrong planted him with a Rock Bottom and a Peoples Elbow to the delight of
the crowd before he trashed the set. Make no mistake, the intensity is there
for all to see in Armstrong, but Helmsley and Rockabilly have robbed him of
victories more than once in recent weeks, who's to say they can't do it again
at Badd Blood...

Rob Van Dam vs Billy Kidman

Billy Kidman was in action today against Rob Van Dam. Kidmans recent form seems
to have been blighted slightly and his confidence has dipped whereas his
partner Steve Corino has been on a roll for some time, having held the TV
title now for nine months. As for Van Dam - he couldn't care less as long as
he gets high. Still, a battle of two former world champions was always going to
be a good one. Before the match, Kidman was telling Corino how he'd be doing
away with RVD, no problem, but it almost sounded like he was trying to convince
himself. Corino remained supportive though, assuring Kidman he believed him.

The match itself was as expected with neither man taking any big advantages
as they both looked for an opening to hit a big move. Eventually they both got
it at around the same time as RVD caught Kidman in a waistlock and began
running him towards the corner. Kidman dropped at the last second and whilst
he didn't succeed in protecting himself, he did do some good as both men struck
their heads on the turnbuckles, possibly catching the corner post too. Both
Kidman and Van Dam were down but it was RVD who staggered up first. Still
groggy though, he didn't see Corino sprinting into the ring and by the time he
knew, it was too late as like a flash, Corino hit the Old School Expulsion
and crept back out of the ring again. Kidman staggered back up moments later
and headed up top for the Shooting Star Press which he connected with, and it
was enough for the win.

Kidman was exstatic at his victory and Corino congratulated him as such, but as
they left the ring and headed back down the aisle, a replay of the finish was
aired on the video wall. Kidman stopped in his tracks as he saw Corino
executing his move that allowed Kidman to take the win. Kidman was fuming,
arguing with Corino before storming off. Backstage, Kidman made it clear that
he had intended to win this one by himself. Corino noted, quite rightly, that
the two have been interfering in each others matches for the last year but
Kidman wasn't having any of it and again he stormed off, this time into his
car and out of the arena. Unfortunately for Corino, they'd rented the car
together. Long walk to the hotel...

Billy Kidman pinned Rob Van Dam with the Shooting Star Press in 0:09:34.

Don Muraco pays Matt Hardy a visit

With the six man tag coming up in due course, Don Muraco and Jeff Hardy
approached commissioner Matt Hardy backstage with a little proposition. Their
reasoning was as the Rhyno/Jeff match hadn't reached a satisfying conclusion,
both men should be added to the main event. The real reasons were obvious, in
that Rhyno was hurt and Muracos team would effectively be at least half a man
up. Matt was reluctant but Jeff reminded him of the time when they were
younger when he had given Matt his allowance so he could buy Gary Numan
tickets. Matt relented and let them in, and before we went to commercial, Jeff
was hinting at a second idea that would benefit both men.

Hayabusa & Tajiri vs The Miracle Violence Connection

The ongoing rivalry between The Miracle Violence Connection and the team of
Hayabusa & Tajiri continued today with a match between the two teams. In the
one other recent clash, the MVC were victorious but since then, Hayabusa has
gotten quite some notoriety for his recent tangles with worlds champion Don
Muraco. Busa may have lost that one but he was on form here, as was partner
Tajiri. Eventually the match broke down as all four men spilled in. The MVC
used their size and strength advantage to trap the Oriental duo in the corner.
A double Irish whip was reversed, sending both members of the MVC into each
other. Busa and Tajiri then teamed up to hit Gordy with an atomic drop, and
he and Williams collided, sending Williams out of the ring. Tajiri hit Gordy
with the green mist and Hayabusa connected with the Stardust Press to secure a
well fought victory.

Hayabusa & Tajiri (Hayabusa and Tajiri) defeated
The Miracle Violence Connection (Steve Williams and Terry Gordy) when Hayabusa
pinned T. Gordy with the Star Dust Press in 0:07:53.

Larry Zbyszko makes his point

Larry Zbyszko went below the levels of human decency, not for the first time,
when he and Coach came out to rag on Bruno Sammartino. With Bruno not here,
instead off training, and Zbyszkos nemesis John Cena too busy in the back
preparing for the main event to notice the goings on, Zbyszko proceeded to
lambast the "old man", slating Bruno and claiming Bruno had taught him
everything Bruno knew, but that there was far, FAR more that Larry knew that
that. When he went into a rant about how Bruno was a bitter cranky old man who
is rotting away in an old peoples home, it got the attentions of someone at
ringside - none other than David Sammartino, Brunos son. David got out of his
seat and began shouting protests at Larry who was well aware he was there.

Larry went down to him to have a word, then blasted him over the head with his
microphone, before dragging him over the guardrail and into the ring. One ref
ran down to try and put a stop to this but Larry quickly threatened him,
telling him to officiate this "match" or suffer his consequences. And not that
it was much of a match with Larry taking a couple of minutes to pound on David,
who was battered and bloodied, still in his street clothes, before the
Shoulderbreaker and the academic pin put an end to the proceedings. Larry,
and Coach, had no intentions of stopping as they continued to stomp away,
before John Cena was finally alerted to what was going on and ran out, chair
in hand, to clear the ring, but the damage has no doubt been done. And when
Bruno sees this, he'll be absolutely livid.

Larry Zbyszko pinned David Sammartino with the Shoulderbreaker in 0:03:19.

Quick word with Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle of course has announced he will be at ringside for the world title
match at Badd Blood and will be keeping a close eye of proceedings and in a
backstage interview warned both Don Muraco and Rhyno that they'd best not cross
him out there, else risk him costing them the title like the stand-up American
he is. Blunt and to the point from Angle, but can he really be trusted not to
make a nuisance of himself even if nobody does come close to him?

Paul Roma - still looking for respect

Paul Roma and his little clan were, unfortunately, back out today to irritate
us some more with their demands. Roma demanded that everyone respect their
EVIL lifestyle and once again challenged anyone in attendance who dared face
up to their atrocity and malevolance. Unfortunately for him, the challenge was
answered by Pitbull #2 with his IC tag title belt in tow. The Pitbull made
very short work of Roma - Gas and Rodney tried to jump Pitbull #2 but they
were quickly dispatched of and Roma was finished with a big powerbomb. Now
there's the simple matter of defending the Intercontinental tag team titles
this Sunday, more than likely by himself.

Pitbull #2 pinned Paul Roma after a powerbomb in 0:03:39.

Raven, "Unnecessarily Evil" John Cena, Rhyno & Dynamite Kid (or not...) vs Don Muraco, Jeff Hardy, Alex Wright & Ulf Herman

Come the main event, and Don Muracos team was looking confident. He had a
chance to rough up his championship contender for this Sunday and with the
numbers advantage, had a big advantage over another nemesis of his, Raven.
Alex Wright meanwhile had the opportunity to soften up the man challenging him
for the Intercontinental title this Sunday, "Unnecessarily Evil" John Cena and
with Ulf Herman beside him, who would doubt him. And there was further
controversy when after Muracos team had entered, we had word there was something
going on in the back and we found Gene Snitsky and Heidenreich attacking
Dynamite Kid, who looked in bad shape. Matt Hardy then wandered over and told
Dynamite he'd look forward to seeing him this Sunday.

Undetered, John Cena and Raven made their entrances, the latter to a very good
reception. Rhyno also made his way out but was looking quite worse for the
wear and had a bandage around his left arm. Things were looking grim for the
team as Muracos crew had a near two man advantage for all intensive purposes.
That is until Kid Kash's music hit up and the man himself ran out to join
Rhynos team, making it clear he was going to be a part of this one - Kash wasn't
just filling in Dynamite Kids place, he wanted a chance to go up against Jeff
Hardy in advance of their title match this Sunday.

So with the sides as even as they were going to get, things got underway with
Cena and Wright starting things off. With the pair of them going at it for the
Intercontinental title at Badd Blood, this was an interesting little preview
of that match. That one was pretty even, and only turned when Ulf Herman
caught Cena with a blow to the back of the head and made his brief entrance to
the match, taking Cena down with a big powerslam.

The attention soon shifted when Kid Kash and Jeff Hardy had the chance to mix
it up and in this one, Kash was a definite winner as Hardy got in a minimum of
shots while Kash dominated. Again it took a blow from the outside, this time
from Muraco, to shift the tide once more. With Rhyno not looking up for taking
any more abuse, it was left to Raven to take on Muraco as best he could, and he
managed pretty well under the circumstances, taking it right to the big man.
Muraco and co. were doing well though, making semi-frequent tags and grounding
Raven in their corner until Raven and Herman collided off a double clothesline
that allowed both men to tag - Alex Wright tagged in on one side and it was
Rhyno who came in on the other. He may have been badly beaten but Rhyno was
still fighting strong and took down Wright, and then Jeff Hardy, with some
stiff clotheslines and shoulderblocks.

Wright soon got caught with the Gore and it looked to be over, only for Muraco
to break it up. Inevitably, this bought everyone in for an eight way, with
Raven taking it right to Muraco. Jeff Hardy broke that up with a knee to the
back, and though Kid Kash got rid of Hardy in due course, Muraco took the
chance to nail Rhyno from behind right in the back and the Tombstone followed
for the victory. Quickly enough, the rest of Rhynos team jumped back in and
Muracos team made themselves a quick exit, but the damage had been done all
round. Jeff Hardy, Alex Wright and Don Muraco all have the psychological
advantage going into their title defenses, and knowing the three of them,
they'll all have backup outside the ring too, just in case...

Don Muraco & Jeff Hardy (Don Muraco and Jeff Hardy), Alex Wright and Ulf Herman
defeated Rhyno, John Cena, Raven and Kid Kash when Muraco pinned Rhyno
with the Tombstone in 0:20:46.

Pretty Perfect steal another one from the World Tag Team champions.  I'm going to go out on a limb and say that they'll make it 3 in a row and win the titles, though these type of things usually dictate the faces winning.

The Syndicate win, and given their status as the top dogs in the tag team division right now, it doesn't kill any of La Resistance's heat going into the IC tag title match.

A pretty by-the-numbers match for Rhyno and Jeff Hardy with the expected beatdown from Don Muraco.  No complaints though as it ushers things along just as it should.

SHUFFLEBILLY makes me smile way too much.  I love how ol' HHH is so inept, and it always makes me laugh to remember he is a former World champion in DWF.

I'm expecting a nice face turn for Kidman in the future, which could really shock some life back into his DWF career.  A DWF match between Corino and Kidman for the TV Title makes me drool.

GARY NUMAN!  Hehe.  The Hardys and Muraco are so dastardly.

Hayabusa and Tajiri have gained a little momentum in recent weeks and look like they can contend in the tag division very soon, which would be a nice change of pace.

I was wondering when poor David Sammartino was going to get involved in all these shenanigans.  And I'm glad the little putz got dismantled.

Paul Roma is so inept.  It makes me smile big smiley tears.

A crazy main event with Muraco getting the pin on Rhyno.  I expect history to repeat at Badd Blood.

Good bit with Larry beating up on David.  I like the Zbyszko/Sammartino feud

Hey I like the mix of old school and new school talent you have you seem to mix them together very well. I'm going to read some back shows so I can comment and sound like I know what I'm talking about. But I'll be reading.
AzraelPosted on 08/08/06 at 05:00:14

Pretty Perfect's looking good going into Badd Blood, but I don't know if they can beat both at the same time.

Boo Muraco. Leave poor Rhyno alone. Rhyno just keeps getting more and more obstacles to winning the belt. Normally, I'd say that gives him a good chance, but not against Muraco.

Corino should whup Kidman for making him walk just because he had a sudden attack of conscience.

Matt's a Gary Numan fan, huh? Explains some things...

Hayabusa and Tajiri look pretty good and they should get back in the tag team hunt.

Poor Paul Roma. Doomed to be a joke.

Good main event to end the show. I wasn't expecting Rhyno to take the fall, but I guess with all the beating he took, it makes sense.
