[GCW] Monday Night Explosion - 11/7/05

Snabbit888Posted on 08/09/06 at 01:19:38

GCW continues to expand its horizons as for the first time ever, we were at the MTS Center in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada for Monday Night Explosion! After what went down at the end of Explosion last week, tonight's show would be capped off with a giant 10-man tag team match! On one side, it would be John Bradshaw Layfield, The World's Greatest Tag Team, Lance Storm, and Edge taking on Brock Lesnar, Monty Brown, Chris Benoit, Frankie Kazarian, and in a shocker, Eddie Guerrero! It doesn't get much better than that! Not only that, but we had a preview of the X Title ladder match as it would be Cruiserweight champion Shark Boy and Christopher Daniels taking on Kid Kash and the Television champion CM Punk! This is going to be a night to remember as all the superstars are looking for Glory!

Match #1
Petey Williams vs. "Primetime" Elix Skipper
Elix Skipper feels as though he should be in the X Title Ladder Match at Glory, blaming AJ Styles for costing him that opportunity by eliminating him from the battle royal last week. He gained a bit of revenge in his own eyes by causing Styles' elimination to let Christopher Daniels take the win. Skipper was still in a foul mood though as he took on Petey Williams, another man that is sure to play a big part in the new X division. A great match to kick things off in Winnipeg. Skipper is an experienced pro and knows his way around a wrestling ring. Petey is only 23 years old but already has a good amount of experience, and every time he wrestles he gets better. Skipper is too motivated these days to be defeated by potential on this night and the Play of the Day secured the win.

Elix Skipper pinned Petey Williams with the Play of the Day in 0:07:07.
Rating: *** 3/4

AJ STYLES CHALLENGES ELIX SKIPPER
Not long after the three count had been tallied, out came AJ STYLES, who was flanked by his tag team partner Bryan Danielson. Styles kept it short and sweet and said that since Skipper cost him his chance to be the first X champion, he was going to take it out of his ass, and he wanted to do it at Glory. Skipper accepted the challenge, countering the argument by saying that the Phenomenal One cost him HIS chance to be the first X champion, and will be glad to kick his ass at the pay-per-view. "As a matter of fact, Styles, why don't we do this right now!" Styles was all for it, but Skipper was just playing mind games because as soon as Styles got to the ring with Danielson, Primetime took a powder and made his hasty retreat. He won't have anywhere to go though come Glory.

Match #2
Rhyno vs. Tyson Dux (unsigned)
In the past few months, Rhyno's assassin-for-hire business hasn't worked exactly the way he wanted it to. He's made a bit of money, but he's suffered beatings more often than he has dished them out. Based on seeing his performance tonight, it was obvious his past disappointments were because his heart wasn't into it. When Rhyno is motivated, there isn't anyone alive who can stop him, and what Rhyno is now is motivated. Just ask the poor sap that he wrestled tonight, Tyson Dux. The only thing even remotely impressive that Dux accomplished in this match was doing a stupid little dance before Rhyno obliterated him, pinning him in near record time with the Gore.

Rhyno pinned Tyson Dux with the Gore in 0:00:35.
Rating: *

JBL HAS AN OPPONENT FOR RHYNO
After the Manbeast's dominating performance tonight, John Bradshaw Layfield came out with a microphone, the Corporation in tow. He told Rhyno that he was never going to be paid the money he thinks he is owed because in JBL's eyes, Rhyno didn't get the job done. "I thought that the whoopin' we put on you last week would be enough for you to not mess with us, but I hear rumors backstage that you want a piece of the Wrestling God. Well let me tell you this, Rhyno - not a chance. You're looking at the future World Heavyweight champion. You, Rhyno, are a loser, and losers don't get to wrestle champions. But I'll tell you what. If you want a piece of me and the Corporation so badly, I have an opponent lined up for you. If you can beat this guy, maybe I'll consider giving you a NON-TITLE match when I'm champion." Rhyno is a beast on a mission and I think he'd go through anything if it meant getting his hands on JBL, and he accepted this challenge, possibly ill-advised. The match will take place at Glory, but Rhyno will be at a decided disadvantage as he has no idea who he is preparing for.

Match #3
"The Italian Stallion" Chuck Palumbo vs. Lance Hoyt
Chuck Palumbo tried to do the right thing last week when he stopped Lance Hoyt from continuing his assault on Shark Boy on the set of Palumbo's Pizza Place, and it was shown that no good deed goes unpunished as Hoyt turned the attack on him by hitting the Blackout. Palumbo begged Tommy Dreamer to make this match, and Dreamer did. You have to admire the Italian Stallion's guts, but Lance Hoyt has shown himself to be an unstoppable force, and this match proved to be much of the same. Palumbo did what he could, but he couldn't even get Hoyt off his feet despite coming close many times. But Hoyt is an animal and had an easy time in defeating Palumbo.

Lance Hoyt pinned Chuck Palumbo with the Blackout in 0:05:23.
Rating: ***

Wow. It doesn't get much more impressive than Lance Hoyt's performance tonight. Hoyt just might win Kid Kash the X Title at Glory.

MNM WANTS SOME ANSWERS FROM TOMMY DREAMER
Commissioner Tommy Dreamer's office had its calm broken when Johnny Nitro, Joey Mercury, and Melina burst in and immediately wanted answers from the Commish. Melina screamed in Dreamer's face that the match for the World Tag Team Title shot last week against Booker T and Rey Mysterio Jr. was bogus and that since they won the Tag Team Turmoil back in September that they should still get a title shot. Dreamer finally heard enough as she told Melina not to get her panties in a bunch. "You'll get your title shot, MNM... just Booker T and Rey Mysterio get one first." This didn't make MNM very happy, but Dreamer didn't care as he ushered them out of the office.

Match #4
Shark Boy (Cruiserweight champion)/"Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels (w/ D-Ray 3000) vs. CM Punk (Television champion)/"The Notorious K.I.D." Kid Kash (w/ Shaniqua, Daffney, & Lance Hoyt)
We had a preview of the X Title Ladder Match with this tag team contest, and if this match with Shark Boy and Christopher Daniels taking on CM Punk and Kid Kash is any indication of what the match will be like at Glory, we're in for a classic. Neither team particularly had any desire to team up, but they are all competitors and wanted to win in the worst way, and what resulted was this match. It was obvious to anyone watching that Punk and Daniels are still not at 100%, but they still hate each other with such a passion that they blocked it out for this match and once again tore into each other whenever they got into the ring together. The Fallen Angel was motivated by the fact that there is nothing more he wants in the wrestling world than to beat CM Punk in the worst way, and he has yet to pin Punk's shoulders to the mat in singles competition. However, neither Daniels or Punk had enough in the tank as they didn't settle their scores tonight. Punk took enough out of the Fallen Angel though as Kash pinned him following the Dead Level.

CM Punk and Kid Kash defeated Christopher Daniels and Shark Boy when Kash pinned C. Daniels with the Dead Level in 0:11:51.
Rating: ****

Kid Kash grabs the brass ring tonight as he definitely has the momentum on his side with the X Title Match just around the corner. Double that with the services of Lance Hoyt, and Kash has to be the odds on favorite to be the first X champion.

STEVIE RICHARDS INTRODUCES HIS NEW TAG TEAM PARTNER
Before we could get on to our next scheduled match, we had an unexpected appearance by Stevie Richards, who has had nothing even remotely close to success thus far in Global Championship Wrestling. Stevie grabbed the house mic and said that he was tired of nobody respecting him around here and that he has brought a man from his past. Some scattered chants of "Raven" were heard, but Richards made his "big" announcement and it turned out to be... The Blue Meanie. Talk about underwhelming. Meanie came out wearing a Blue World Order t-shirt and had one for Stevie as well and the two announced that the bWo was back. Needless to say, nobody cared as the bWo continued to ramble on and on until BOOKER T and REY MYSTERIO JR. had finally heard enough, came out, and we had an impromptu match.

Match #5
Booker T/Rey Mysterio Jr. (w/ Sharmell) vs. The Blue World Order
Well, so much for Stevie Richards' big plan to win. He brought in an old buddy of his to help him out, but unfortunately it was the equally hapless Blue Meanie, and the Blue World Order has made a return nobody ever wanted to see. Big Stevie Cool and Da Blue Guy actually showed something relatively close to resembling teamwork early on, but that was short lived as Booker T and Rey Mysterio Jr. floored them after that, picking up an easy victory with the 6-1-9/Axe Kick combo.

Booker T and Rey Mysterio Jr. defeated The bWo (The Blue Meanie and Stevie Richards) when Booker pinned Meanie with the Axe Kick in 0:05:28.
Rating: ** 1/2

Welcome to Global Championship Wrestling, Blue Meanie.

MNM THREATENS BOOKER T & REY MYSTERIO JR., BUT THEY GET PUT IN THEIR PLACE
After the match was over, the red carpet and paparazzi came out to accompany MNM to the top of the ramp. Melina had the mic. "Booker T and Rey Mysterio! That title shot at Glory should be ours! You completely snuck in the back door like the cheats that you are, but that's okay. Because I guarantee you that will NOT walk out of Edmonton as the World Tag Team champions, and we're going to make sure of that!" After hearing MNM declare their intentions to ruin the tag title match at the pay-per-view, Commissioner Tommy Dreamer appeared on the GCW VideoTron and told Melina that they are completely barred from the building at Glory, and if they even try to get into the Rexall Place on November 20th, they will lose their guaranteed title shot. MNM threw a fit and once again cried foul, but this was the right decision, so kudos to Tommy Dreamer for standing tall and making certain that we will have a great World Tag Team Title match at Glory.

Match #6
Abyss vs. Doug Williams
If you would have told me a month ago that Abyss had the potential to be even more of a monster than he already was, I would have told you that you were crazy. But somehow Randy Orton has found a way to do just that, and he's done it seemingly with a smile on his face. It could be all mind games to try to get into Abyss' head, but at any rate, Abyss is nearly unstoppable at this point. Before the monster's match with Doug Williams officially began, Orton came out to the top of the ramp with a microphone. During the duration of this match, Orton teased and taunted Abyss, doing everything from calling him a freak to bragging about injuring his one and only friend and sending him out of GCW for good. These words served to fuel Abyss' anger, which wasn't something Doug Williams was too keen on. Abyss started beating the ever-living hell out of Williams and would pin him after a simple but deadly kick to the head.

Abyss pinned Doug Williams after a kick to the head in 0:01:26.
Rating: ** 1/4

The crowd cheered Abyss on as he instantly jumped out of the ring and ran up the ramp at Orton. Orton saw him coming and wisely escaped to the confines of backstage before Abyss could get a hold of him. For Randy Orton's sake, I hope he knows what he is doing.

Match #7
MAIN EVENT
Brock Lesnar (World Heavyweight champion)/"The Alpha Male" Monty Brown/"The Crippler" Chris Benoit/"Latino Heat" Eddie Guerrero/Frankie "The Future" Kazarian vs. John Bradshaw Layfield/The World's Greatest Tag Team (World Tag Team champions)/Lance Storm (North American champion)/"The Rated R Superstar" Edge (w/ Lita, Mickie James, & Lamont)
With this many people in the ring at the same time, you had to feel sorry for referee Jimmy Appleseed, who had to try to wrangle up ten wrestlers and three managers when he only had two eyes. Our main event had such ramifications for the upcoming pay-per-view. Every wrestler that had a gripe with another wrestler seemed to get to extract a little revenge, whether it be face on heel or heel on face. There was far too much action to call in this match, but the crowd was into every minute of it. The most interesting storyline throughout was how well Eddie Guerrero was getting along with his team. He and Benoit showed some great teamwork that obviously goes all the way back over ten years ago, and it was like they never missed a beat. Benoit's protege' Frankie Kazarian wasn't happy about this as he didn't trust Guerrero at all, and in the end, that turned out to be the right decision.

Near the end of the match, Appleseed lost complete control of the match and we had a ten man powder keg erupt in and around the ring. While Appleseed was trying in vein to restore order, Latino Heat grabbed the ring bell and clobbered Benoit from behind with it! Guerrero hadn't changed his ways at all, and Kazarian knew it all along. Kazarian grabbed the ring bell from Guerrero, causing Eddie to run off with a huge smile on his face. Benoit came to after being momentarily startled and all he saw was Kazarian holding the ring bell! Benoit yelled at Kazarian while the Future maintained his innocence that he didn't do anything wrong. The words between the two were getting heated before they were ambushed by Lance Storm and the World's Greatest Tag Team.

Meanwhile in the ring, Monty Brown had just Pounced Edge through the ropes to the floor and went after him, leaving Brock Lesnar and JBL in the ring. Appleseed was looking to the outside though trying to break up one of the numerous fights that were taking place, and this allowed Shelton Benjamin to sneak back in the ring and waffle Lesnar in the back with a chair. JBL followed with the Stock Market Crash. JBL yelled for Appleseed to make the cover, and in the cheapest of fashions, JBL had pinned the World Heavyweight champion for the third time in past two months!

The Corporation (Charlie Haas, John Bradshaw Layfield and Shelton Benjamin), Edge and Lance Storm defeated Brock Lesnar, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Frankie Kazarian and Monty Brown when JBL pinned Lesnar with the Stock Market Crash in 0:15:39.
Rating: *** 1/4

JBL the the Corporation were all smiles as Lamont brought the World Heavyweight Title in for JBL to hold high above his head, but this little celebration was brought to an abrupt end when RHYNO ran in from the crowd and nearly split JBL in half with the Gore! Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin tried to go after him, but Rhyno was out of the ring just as quickly as he had gotten into it. The show went off the air with Rhyno going up the ramp yelling at the Corporation in the ring.

Rhyno vs. JBL's hand-picked wrestler
lazy_duckPosted on 08/09/06 at 07:54:09

Snabbit888 You are the man are the man is the man! Someone from the Conneticut should call you in just to talk. Where to start.

Im just jonesing over the Corporation I think the way JBL is being used SHOULD have been the way he was used in that other fed.

I'm trying to figure out who JBL has in store for Rhyno but whomever it is I'm sure will cost a pretty penny. How that ring held those 10 egos in the Main event needs to be studied by NASA. I doubt that this win will carry over to Glory but will be nice. That way when Lesnar comes on I can stop stareing at his neck :)

MNM should do what the NWO did back in the day and buy tickets and sit in the front row and throw popcorn at Booker T and the Masked one. I'm sure front row tickets arn't cheap.

I look foward to Glory my man keep it up!
