WCW Thunder
April 12, 2001
Louisville, Kentucky

RICK PREPARES FOR A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY!!!
Rick Steiner arrives alone.  He mentions to Mike Tenay that Scott is back at the hotel.  He asked to do this alone.  Booker T walks up, and says he asked Stevie Ray to stay back tonight too.  Steiner & Booker shake hands, and admire each other's spirits.

Match #1
Mike Awesome Vs Air Paris
Awesome said before the match that at Spring Stampede, WCW and ECW talent will compete in a 20-Man Invitational Battle Royal.  Awesome squashes Air Paris within 6 minutes and an Awesome Bomb.

Mike Awesome def. Air Paris in 6:08

Match #2
Kronik (Bryan Clark/Brian Adams) Vs The Boogie Knights (Alex Wright/Disco Inferno)
Everyone was surprised to see Kronik and Disco is always good for a laugh.  Wright & Disco didn't stand a chance.  Clark hits the Meltdown on Disco and it's over.

Kronik (Bryan Clark/Brian Adams) def. The Boogie Knights in 8:10 when Clark pinned Disco with the Meltdown.

Match #3
Billy Kidman Vs Johnny Swinger
Kidman is here.  Always nice to see him.  Swinger was a jobber in WCW, and Kidman proves that old careers can haunt you.  Kidman hits the Shooting Star Press for the victory.

Billy Kidman def. Johnny Swinger in 9:11 with the Shooting Star Press.

Match #4
Chris Candido Vs Sabu
Sabu was out for vengeance, but it wasn't ECW Rules here.  Many near-falls here, but this match wasn't about winning.  It was about softening Sabu for Lance Storm, who makes his presence known and attacks Sabu, intentionally getting DQ'ed.

Sabu def. Chris Candido in 18:15 via disqualification.

NO RVD IN SIGHT!
Storm and Candido continue to work over Sabu, but we're told Rob Van Dam is not in the arena.  They try to double-team Sabu, but Rhyno rushes to the ring, and gores Lance Storm.  Sabu gets up and walks right into another Gore from Rhyno.  Rhyno plays to the crowd before leaving.

Match #5
Balls Mahoney Vs Kanyon
Kanyon requested an ECW rules match.  Balls started by whacking Kanyon with a chair.  Balls places Kanyon on the chair (he's sitting).  He goes to get another chair, but Kanyon blocks the second chair shot with the chair, and we have dueling chairs.  Balls fakes a hit and waits for Kanyon, who takes the bait.  Balls cracks him over the head again, followed by the Nutcracker Suite for the victory.

Balls Mahoney def. Kanyon in 9:39 with the Nutcracker Suite.

Match #6
Evan Karagias Vs Mark Jindrak
A filler match that the crowd did not like.  The only good thing about this match is that Evan Karagias actually pulls an upset and pins Jindrak.  Jindrak looked confused as to whether or not that was supposed to happen.

Michael Buffer actually announces the participants for tonight's main event.

MAIN EVENT
For the WCW World Heavyweight Title
Rick Steiner Vs Booker T ©
A rematch from Greed.  And it's for the big belt.  Towards the end, Booker goes for the Book End, but Rick blocks it, nailing him with right hands.  Rick nails a Steiner line, followed by a second one.  Rick picks Booker up and whips him to the corner.  Rick charges, but Booker gets a foot up.  Booker goes for a side kick, but Rick counters with a powerslam, but gets a 2.9 count.  Rick picks Booker up and whips him into the ropes.  Booker moves again, but Rick gets to the second rope.  He nails Booker with a boot, and follows up with a Second Rope Bulldog.  Rick is exhausted, but he could win if he could make the cover.  Scott Steiner runs to the ring, and just starts attacking Booker T.  The ref rings the bell.

Booker T def. Rick Steiner in 17:09 via Disqualification.
(Booker T retains the WCW World Heavyweight Title.)

Rick looks at his brother in disappointment.  Scott tries to get Rick to help him, but Rick just walks out of the ring.  Scott tries to get Rick back, but Rick pushes him and walks away.  Scott turns around and gets a Book End for his troubles.

END OF SHOW

Dissention between the Steiners?  How will this affect Scott Steiner's chances of regaining the WCW World Championship?  I'm sure we'll find out more on Nitro, which will broadcast from Charleston, West Virginia.

We'll also have more on the Invitational Battle Royal as well.

One of the things I liked about WCW was the on again off again love/hate relationship the Steiners had. These two need to sit and tal with Dr. Phill as soon as possible

I allways had a thing for the Disco and Alex Wright. Never liked Kronik, they felt like Demolition with out make up. but nevertheless good win for them.

Gore Gore..no not Al Gore but you gotta like Rhyno sticking it where ever he fells like it.

good show.
