WWA PRIMETIME TV  9/20/05
THE BRYCE JORDAN CENTER, STATE COLLEGE PA

The show opens with a shot of the sold out crowd going crazy.  CEO Arn Anderson is in the ring.

ANDERSON: WELCOME TO WWA!!! PRIMETIME TUESDAY NIGHT!!  Coming up this weekend, our first big event, it'll be A Night of Champions.  Outdoors at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, PA.  We have the semifinals and finals of the Lethal Lottery tournament to decide the first WWA World Tag Team Champions.  In one semifinal, it'll be Sabu and Edge against Shawn Michaels and Rob Van Dam.  In the other semifinal, the team of Taz and Randy Orton against Steve Corino and Tajiri!!

Steve Corino's music plays and him and his partner make a surprise appearance.

CORINO: Arn, we thank you for having us in the tag tournament, but there are other matters we need to take care of first.  There's been a thorn in our side for a couple weeks. And that is Jeff Hardy.  Jeff, we had no problem with you.  All you had to do was stand aside and let us put your brother out of his misery.  You stuck your noise where it didn't belong and now you gotta pay.  Come down right now for an old school beatdown.

Jeff Hardy storms the ring and him and Corino begin to brawl.

JEFF HARDY VS STEVE CORINO

Tajiri stayed at ringside and Hardy and Corino began brawling in the ring with Hardy eventually getting the better of things. Corino began coming back with his technical expertise, but Hardy's athleticism kept giving him a bit of an edge.  At one point Corino retreated to the outside to confer with his partner Tajiri.  Hardy left off the top rope and did a flying splash on both.  Corino went back into the ring first and began arguing with the ref, while Hardy made it back, but Tajiri caught him and sprayed the green mist in his face.  Corino took advantage of the distraction and hit the Old School Expulsion to get the win.

Steve Corino pinned Jeff Hardy with the Old School Expulsion in 0:09:15.

[Tajiri interfered against Jeff Hardy.]

One again, Corino and Tajiri kept attacking after the match, and this time to return the favor Matt Hardy came down to the aid of his brother.  The Hardy's cleared the ring and paused for a minute looking at each other, then to the applause of the entire crowd, hugged in a reunion in the middle of the ring.

Backstage Mike Knox is with Kelly giving an interview

KNOX:  Impact Players. You coulda had a great ally. But you two blew it. I am going to rip you two apart, piece by piece, one by one. Tonight I'm going to start with you Justin.  It's my time to shine. Your days are done.

Credible came down to the ring first all alone.  Surprisingly Lance Storm wasn't ring side with his partner.  Mike Knox came out to the ring with his girlfriend Kelly a few steps behind him.  As Knox made it closer to the ring, his own escort Kelly came up from behind and gave him an uppercut to the crotch.  As Knox wiggled in pain, Lance Storm then rushed to ringside and began doing a number on Knox. Throwing him into the guardrails, and off the steel steps.  And then he held open Knox's legs as Kelly, with her high heeled shoe, stomped right in the crotch of Knox.  Storm then threw Knox into the ring and they ordered the bell run to begin the match.

JUSTIN CREDIBLE VS MIKE KNOX w/ KELLY

Seeing what just happened, was this really a match?

Justin Credible pinned Mike Knox after a gutwrench suplex in 0:00:33.

After the match, Kelly stood in the middle of the Impact Players as all three raised there arms in victory.

Backstage Shane Douglas was standing by on crutches.

DOUGLAS: Shelton Benjamin.  I know it was you who tried to run me down at the Lethal Lottery.  This injury is only going to be a minor setback.  My goal is to make your life a living hell.

Shelton Benjamin came to the ring for his next match and grabbed the mic.

SHELTON: Listen here Franchise.  Me and you have had our problems since day one.  And as much as I would like to take credit for you nearly getting run over, it pains me to say I can't.  It wasn't me, so why don't you get better, and go toss your accusations elsewhere and stay out of my business.

Christian Cage came out for his match once again with his police escort.

SHELTON BENJAMIN VS CHRISTIAN CAGE

Benjamin took control early in this match.  It's clear that Christian hasn't been the same wrestler since his incarceration.  Midway through the match, Shane Douglas hobbled to ringside on his crutches.  Douglas just stood at ringside, but this distracted Shelton enough for Cage to gain an advantage.  However his arch-nemesis Charlie Haas came down, and he had no intentions of standing by.  He grabbed Cage's legs and pulled him outside and started his own brawl with Cage.  As Shelton leaned against the ropes watching this melee, Douglas slid under the bottom rope, took his crutch and smacked Shelton right across the back of the head.  He had everyone fooled thinking he really was hurt, but that went away running at Shelton, and then stopped and kicking the crap out of him with his "injured" leg.

Shelton Benjamin and Christian Cage battled to a double disqualification in 0:10:33.
Rating: * ½
[Shane Douglas interfered against Shelton Benjamin.]
[Charlie Haas interfered against Christian Cage.]

Meanwhile on the floor, Christian and Haas' brawl spilled over the guardrail into the crowd.  Christian got the better of Haas, and threw him back over.  The Cage stopped for a moment.  He looked at Haas laying on the other side of the guardrail, he looked at his police escort by the entrance ramp, and then he made a rash decision. Cage bolted up the stairs and through the crowd.  The police began chasing after him, but Cage had enough of a head start, he disappeared into the concourse and then out of the building.

Shane remained in the ring assaulting Benjamin when Raven appeared on the jumbotron

RAVEN:  Hey Franchise,  up here.  You really are an idiot aren't you.  It wasn't Shelton Benjamin that almost ran you over.  It was me.  Remember back to the Kickoff Party.  You attacked both of us.  Me and Shelton,  in our match.  Shelton went right for revenge, I waited until the time was right.

SHANE:  Well come down here and fight me like a man you son of a witch.

RAVEN:  It's not gonna be that easy Shane.  Arn Anderson just signed , me, you , and Shelton for a three way Ladder Match, for the World TV Title, at A Night of Champions.  So I'll see you Saturday Night.

HANDICAP MATCH
RANDY ORTON & TAZ VS THE BIG SHOW

We've seen through the past few weeks, that one man can not beat The Big Show.  But what about two men?  Orton has had his problems with Show the past weeks, and his new partner Taz decided to help him out. Show looked for a while he might be able to beat the two on one.  Orton went for the RKO but show blocked it turning it into a back body drop.  Standing in the corner, he gave the sign for the chokeslam, not seeing Taz sneaking up on the top rope. As Show had his hand raised getting ready, Taz locked in the Tazmission.  It was almost comical seeing the much smaller Taz on Big Show's back with his hold locked in.  Orton recovered and dropkicked Show's legs bringing him to the ground with Taz holding on to the hold.  Victim of the two on one, Show had no choice but to give in.

Handicap-Match:
Taz and Randy Orton defeated The Big Show when Taz made Show submit to the Tazmission in 0:09:44.
Rating: *** 3/4

CARLITO VS JAMIE NOBLE

Jamie Noble came to the ring calling out Carlito, blaming him for his team's loss in the Lethal Lottery.  Perhaps he should be careful the fights he picks.  Carlito had a relatively easy time with Noble.

Carlito pinned Jamie Noble after the Overdrive in 0:04:01.
Rating: **

After the match, Chris Masters once again tried to sneak attack Carlito from behind, but Carlito was expecting it this time and able to fight off the Masterpiece until once again, Masters slid out of the ring, not wanting a fair fight with Carlito

It was now time for our main event.  A towel match involving one entire semifinal of the Lethal Lottery tournament.  Sabu had Edge in his corner, against Rob Van Dam, with Shawn Michaels in his.

TOWEL MATCH
SABU VS ROB VAN DAM

Another gem between two extreme veterans.  Everything you can imagine was used in this match.  Chairs, tables, fire hydrants, everything that was around the ring, these two used to brutalize each other.  Which corner man wanted his partner fresher for the upcoming tournament?  It seemed neither wanted to give in. Sabu locked RVD in a sleeper.  One the outside, Edge and HBK got in a fight, Michaels went to hit Edge with a super kick but Edge moved and Michaels caught the ring announcer.  Edge followed by spearing Michaels into the railing.  Seeing Michaels' towel on the ground, Egde threw it into the ring since the ref wasn't paying attention to what was happening.  The ref turned around, saw Edge with his towel still, and awarded Sabu the win.

Towel Match:
Sabu (w/Edge) defeated Rob Van Dam (w/Shawn Michaels) with a sleeperhold in 0:18:25.
Rating: *** 1/4

Corino wins, which I like, and we see a Hardy reunion too.  My guess is Corino/Tajiri win the belts and have a feud lined up right away against Matt and Jeff.

Kelly turn!  Yay!  I think she'll be a good fit with the Impact Players.

Though I think the police escort has a lot of potential, one thing that confused me is that if Haas was arrested for the same thing too, why doesn't he have a police escort while Christian does?

Handicap matches are hard to book properly just based on their nature.  If the guy who is by himself wins, it makes his two opponents look weak.  But if the team of two wins, big deal, there was two of them.  They were supposed to win.  But all things considered, nothing wrong with Orton/Taz going over Big Show.

I liked the main event as far as the match went, even though I didn't like you giving away a big gimmick match on free TV.  A creative ending though for sure.

Hmmm, a towel match. I forget TNM had them. There's potential in something there I reckon...
