NGW Monday Night Nitro - August 1, 2006

The show opened inside of the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhatten as the crowd was on there feet for the debut of wrestling's newest federation. The crowd is anxious in to see what will happen in side of the small venue tonight in the one hour debut of Nitro.

Eric Bischoff Returns!!!!

The show begins with Eric Bischoff making his way to the ring. He gets on the mic and says that it is great to be back involved with this promising federation. He says that for those who don't know , NGW was the rebirth of the International Wrestling Alliance. He said that Ted Turner bought out IWA and made Next Generation Wrestling, the future of Sports Entertainment. He talked about how none of the former IWA championships remain and that the champions don't count anymore. Almost as soon as he said this "Medal " hit. Kurt Angle made his way to the ring to a huge ovation in the small arena. Kurt talked about how he was the IWA champion and that he should be first to get a shot at the NGW title. Eric agreed saying that he does indeed deserve a shot for being loyal and sticking through the buyout, but so did everyone else on the roster. NGW is about letting anyone rise to the top and giving everyone oppurtunities to do so. So later on tonight they were going to have a 20 man battle royal with all the NGW stars. Whoever wins would become NGW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION. The crowd went nuts. And the match started as soon as Eric left the ring.

20-Man Battle Royal for the vacant NGW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE

Kurt was already in the ring before all the other competitors entered.Pins and Submissions were the only way to eliminate opponents. The match started quickly when within a minute Triple H elimnated Shelton Benjamin with the Pedigree. He then caught Booker T with a huge Spinebuster to elminate him...Triple H had the crowd behind him and all the momentum until Abyss attacked him with his chain that James Mitchell slid to him. Abyss then pinned Triple H and eliminated him. Triple H couldn't believe it and a hold was put on the match as he got the sledgehammer from under the ring and cleaned house as the show went to commercial.

**Commercial Break**

When we returned footage of HHH being hauled to the back by security was shown. The match started back and the next elimination came when Shawn Michaels caught John Cena with a flying forearm. The crowd cheered just to see Cena go and he flipped the crowd off and stormed to the back. Carlito was looking good attacking everyone and then sneaking away from the fight that would follow. He couldn't sneak away from the huge RKO Randy Orton gave him out of nowhere. Orton pinned and got the elimination. The next elimination happened when AJ styles tried to rana Edge off the top rope but Edge reversed t into a huge powerbomb. AJ styles was gone and the show went to another commercial break.

**Commercial Break**

We returned to see Edge about to get pinned but Lita put his feet on the ropes. This set off the man pinning Edge, Monty Brown, and he went on a rampage. Eliminating Randy Orton, Kurt Angle, and Shawn Michaels in a row. JBL went for the Clothesline from hell on RVD but RVD reversed it and locked in a Fujiwara armbar. JBL tapped. He looked furious and wouldn't leave ringside. He left after he tripped RVD up causing Jeff Jarrett to hit him with the Stroke and got the elimination. RVD quickly ran backstage trying to find JBL who had fleed already.

**Commercial Break**

The match was still going full speed and the crowd was highly into it. Monty Brown ran towards Samoa Joe in the corner but he evaded and threw Monty Brown into the ringpost . As he backed up in pain Joe locked in the Kokina clutch , eliminating The Alpha Male. Joe hit the Muscle Bustle buster on Jeff Jarrett but Gail Kim put Jarrett's foot on the ropes. Joe finally eliminated Jarrett after catching him with a huge Powerslam that came out of nowhere. As Joe stood to his feet the Monster, Abyss attacked him with that chain as well. Abyss covered and got the elimination. CM Punk had been busted open earlier in the match so he was losing more and more blood and more and more energy. Abyss put him to sleep and there was no way he could answer the ref's call. Abyss stood to his feet and did his posed only to be turned around and lifted onto the Animal, Batista's shoulder. He did a huge running powerslam and eliminated the Monster. It was now down to the final four, Bobby Lashley, Edge, Batista, and Mr. Kennedy. Who would win the World title? Find out after the break.

**Commercial Break**

When we returned to the action all four men were brawling. The final four was cut down when Batista "Batista Bombed" Ken Kennedy to eliminate him. Edge caught Lashley with a lowblow and backslid him into a pin for the elimination. It was down to Batista and Edge. They brawled for a few minutes but the Batista got in a well placed kick that winded Edge. He lifted him up for the Batista Bomb but he was to close to the ropes and Lita pulled at his leg. Batista dropped Edge and turned to Lita. She provided enough distraction for Edge to regain composure...Batista turned around...SPEAR!!!!! The crowd was booing their heads off as Edge covered...1....2....3! Edge was the new World Champion.

Security quickly rushed down and held Batista back as Eric Bischoff made his way to the ring with the NGW World Heavyweight Title. Eric got into the ring and presented it to the exausted Edge. He held the title high with one arm as he supported himself on Lita. He looked over at Batista and taunted him. Batista broke free of security and Edge and Lita quickly left the ring. The show ended with security holding Batista back and Edge and Lita kissing on the ramp with Edge's title high in the air.

Obligatory "booked or unbooked" question before I feedback.

Oh, and congrats on getting my 2000th post. :)

Unbooked for the most part

and thanks for blessing me with your 2000th post lol
LKOPosted on 08/02/06 at 20:38:42

and on that topic i like to run it unbooked because i like the challenge of using what TNM gives me. i dont book title matches every show so there wont be a million title changes and push guys who deserve it from how they perform in the sim.

thats why i go with unbooked

plus im a lazy bastard lol

Well, with those 20 in the ring, almost everyone could have been a viable world champion.

Not too long of a show, eh? With commercials, maybe 45 minutes?

You have a nice and crisp writing style, but I'll still say that you have too many superstars for your own good. Hopefully, you'll find a way to sort it out.

I was thinking the same thing.  Then again, with it being unbooked, the hierarchy should materialize soon enough.

I'm guessing you have a one hour show? I think it was a different way of starting a promotion than most would, and that's a good thing. Usually you'd see more matches, but I like that you went for some realism by having one battle royal to determine the promotion's first champion.

You have a great champion in Edge to start your promotion with. It doesn't get much better as far as heel champions than Edge.
