Monday Nitro - June 17, 1996

Rick Steiner pinned Stevie Ray after a Steinerline in 0:15:42.

After the Match, Booker T joined his brother in beating down Rick Steiner.  That lasted just under a minute before Scott made the save.

Disco Inferno pinned Billy Kidman with the Last Dance in 0:10:11.
Rating: ** 3/4
The rookie, Billy Kidman, showed some solid talent. But the cheating Disco Inferno pulled out the win.

The Horsemen (Arn Anderson and Chris Benoit) defeated
The American Males (Scotty Riggs and Marcus Alexander Bagwell) when Anderson pinned Bagwell with the Gourdbuster in 0:08:21.
Rating: ** 3/4
Ric Flair distracted the ref allowing for the Horsemen to do what they do best.  At one point, Ric Tripped Riggs and Konnan came out to call flair on his underhanded ness and they brawled on the outside until the Ref sent them both to the back.  Anderson finished off the American Males with an impressive Gourdbuster.  After the bell, Ric flair comes back out to celebrate with the Horsemen. Ric gets a mic and addresses the camera.

RF: "Konnan, my friend, you're not from around here.  You must not realize who we are.  We are the Horsemen.  You don't just waltz in here and get in our way.  You get in our way, you get caught in a stampede."

AA: "You don't believe him, just ask Kevin Sullivan.  HE learned last night that you don't screw with the Horsemen. Peroid."

The Horsemen then drop the mic and make their way back to their dressing room.



John Tenta defeated Big Bubba Rogers by disqualification in 0:15:28.
Rating: 1/2*
Rogers was disqualified for using the ring bell to knock Tenta out.  After the bell, Rogers grabbed a pair of scissors and cut the left half of Tenta's hair down to nothing and started trying to cut the left half of his goatee.

Ric Flair pinned Randy Savage with the Figure-Four Leglock in 0:16:07.
Rating: ****
You can tell that these two men do not like each other.  They went tooth and nail back and forth.  In the end, it was a distraction by Arn Anderson that allowed Flair to take advantage of Savage with a low blow and followed up with a figure four for the win.

Dean Malenko defeated Rey Misterio when Rey Misterio passed out in
an armlock hammerlock submission in 0:10:18.
Rating: ***
(Dean Malenko retained the WCW Cruiserweight Champion.)
Malenko Shows us once again that he is a technical machine and as he claims, a master of 1000 holds as he forces Misterio to submit just after the 10 minute mark.

Team WCW
Eric Bischoff heads down to the ring to address the crowd.  His neck in a neck brace after the attack on him at the Great American Bash.
EB: "Last night we were challenged and accepted the terms for a 3 on 3 tag team match at next month's Pay per View Bash at the Beach.  The Invaders we've faced from up north and their mysterious benefactor Versus 3 of our own wrestlers.  I am here now to proudly announce that our representatives will be comprised of . . .
<The Nitro theme music hits as each man walks down the isle>

And they will be joined by...
The "Macho Man" Randy Savage

All three men look pumped and ready to take on the invaders.
EB: "Three of the Premier athletes in WCW are here and will gladly represent WCW at bash at the beach.  Until then, you invaders are put on notice that you are not welcome here in WCW.


The Giant defeated Scott Steiner via pinfall in 0:14:28.

(The Giant retained the WCW World Champion.)
Following a huge title defense last night at the Great American Bash, The Giant is continuing to show that he is a fighting champion as well as a vicious monster.  Last night he showed he was too much for Lex Luger and tonight he does the same to Scott Steiner.



Just after the Giant's in ring Celebration is shown, we see a camera shot of the Heartbreaker Shawn Michaels on a cell phone in the back talking to someone and laughing about the members of Team WCW.  As the cameraman tried to get closer he is noticed by Jake Roberts and gets a DDT on the floor for his trouble before we can find out who was on the phone with Michaels.
