An idea for a circuit (an actual TNM circuit)

AnubisPosted on 06/22/06 at 07:05:55

How interested would people be to read an "Ultimate Multiverse Wrestling" TNM circuit?  The idea would be that anyone anywhere could participate.

Basically any actual wrestler from any time period could be part of it, as well as any real fighter from any time period, any real person or internet persona (including people on this forum), any fictional character from any television or video game series (regardless of whether it had anything to do with wrestling), any celebrity or movie character (or both in some cases).  We could have all sorts of possibilities!

Imagine some of these classics:

Vegeta v "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson
"Dr. Death" Steve Williams v Doctor Who
Arnold Scwartzenagger v The Terminator
Lou Thesz v Mariko Yoshida
Chris Benoit v Wolverine
Rickson Gracie v Goku
Jack Bauer v "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair
Cloud v Magneto

Stuff like that, except all in a wrestling ring.  How about it?  Sound interesting at all?  Would people be interested or is it a bit overboard for a TNM circuit?

---first of all... i dont think theres a such thing as an overboard TNM circuit

---that is quite possibly one of the most creative ideas ive heard, and i'd love to see that happen! i hope other will be too.

---were u gonna make it...like... with storylines and everything? or just straight wrestling?

Seems interesting... I guess my only thought would be why wouldn't Vegeta go all Super Sayan (sp?) on AmDragon and blast him away, or why wouldn't Wolverin chop Benoit to bits with his claws, or why are you making me look at Arnold Scwartzenagger in wrestling tights?

If we can get past that, we're golden ;)

-if i can answer this question for you anubis... because they cant do that in TNM7 matt...  ;D

It's not too overboard by any means.  It's not an idea that on paper excites me, but I see its potential.  The only big issue I see off hand is that by having the limitations be soooooooo broad, you might suffer from what a lot of people who try to do universes by themselves and that's taking on too big of a workload.  With so many options, how do you keep things straight?  It's not an undertaking I'd want anything to do with trying to maintain, but I think it could be fun.

Absolutely, Brandon.  Sounds like a fun idea.  Please, go for it.

I actually hadn't decided. Would it be better with full storylines and stuff? If so, then yes, there'd be storylines.

*Imagines Perfect Cell v Ultimate Warrior*

Whoa . . . LOL

I don't see any real difficulties. I'd make or import people as I needed them, and their particular "worlds" would not be involved necessarily. So no, you don't have to worry about Galactus crushing the arena . . . LOL

I figured I'd ask before actually doing it, since I do still play TEW2004 and wouldn't take time for this unless people were actually interested in looking at it.  I know fictional characters aren't usually the most exciting for people watching TNM circuits, so I wasn't sure.

In that case, I think it's time for me to dust off my old TNM7 and get to work on it.  Only a couple questions:

1. I assume it's better with full storylines, but I don't wanna assume anything given the content.  Storylines or just wrestling?

2. Booked or simmed?

Oh, and one more question, who should my announcers be (and how many should I have)?

I can field this one.  Because you can't use your preposterous super powers when the BEST WRESTLER IN THE WORLD has you trapped in the ABDOMINAL STRETCH OF DOOM!  Remember, even if you make it to the ropes, HE HAS UNTIL FIIIIIIIVE!

Okay, then how about my other questions from my previous two posts?  I only wanna do this if there is serious interest in it.

Why should it matter what other people think? If you're not interested in it, no one else would be either. I think people who run circuits should primarily do so for themselves first, and then for the readers secondly.

So if you have interest in running a TNM circuit like this, go for it.
Snabbit888Posted on 06/24/06 at 22:20:25

Yeah, what HRS said.  If you're just wanting to do the circuit to get a bunch of people interested and nothing more, it will fail.  If the circuit is interesting, people will come to it.  If you're enjoying yourself with it, the more likely people will enjoy it.  If you're doing it and then saying, "Oh fuck, no one is feedbacking," it will more than likely suck because you're doing it for the wrong reasons.  And not to make this sound like an attack, but relying on the collective to give you your answers and then commenting on how you won't do it if we don't answer alienates people more than it interests people in what you're doing.
AnubisPosted on 06/25/06 at 00:31:18

Oh, I didn't mean it like that.  The reason what people think matters, at least in this case, is because I'm already having fun with other games I'm playing, and this would be a side project.  That and the fact that this is a very strange idea.  I just don't know if people would think the circuit is silly or if they think it'd be cool.  That and if people do like it, I wanna give people some of what they'd like to see.

Like the booked or simmed question, I know some people are turned off of a circuit completely if it's booked, so I wanna give fans a bit of what they want, you know?

Or the storylines question, since someone asked, I basically threw it out there for you all to decide.

As for the announcers, I just wanna eventually bring in the "best announcing team possible", but that's just a garnish really, as it has no effect on the circuit, which is why I'm open to almost any possible announce team.

Don't worry, I don't plan to base my circuit around feedback when and if it gets started.  Rest assured that I did learn the last time that the number of views is far more important than the number of replies, so I won't be making that mistake again.  I just wanna involve the community.  If the community doesn't care, though, then there is no demand, and thus no reason to set up my TNM7 and stuff again.  If there is community interest, though, I do wanna primarily entertain you guys.  I entertain myself personally enough with TEW2004, so that's not an issue.  I know by fact I could enjoy this new circuit idea, but there's no point to it if I'm the only one who cares, you know?

So I'm not trying to alienate people, I'm actually trying to involve people, not just for feedback, but for actually having a small part in creating the circuit as well.
HugeRockStar760Posted on 06/25/06 at 01:20:03

I think a lot of people are turned off if a circuit is unbooked. Why? Like I was talking to Ryan about, if a circuit is unbooked you really can't feedback about anything. It wasn't your decision to put such and such over, it was TNM's. When everything is booked, you can understand the booker's motivations and plans for certain wrestlers much better as opposed to unbooked.

Although, unbooked can just be as much fun as a booked circuit too. That's the bottom line, whatever is fun to you is ideal.
YunPosted on 06/26/06 at 09:25:43

I love this idea, and was contemplating something similar, but excluding real people (which I still might do anyway, since the rosters would probably be sufficiently different.)

At http://www.mtcffultra.com/ you can find an anime fanfic based around a similar concept (they even have two side stories featuring a 1999-era WWF crossover.)

Matches I'd like to see:
Megaman vs The Blue Meanie
Rob Van Dam vs Jean Claude Van Damme
Wong Fei Hong (the Drunken Master) vs Sandman vs Steve Austin
Jet Li vs Low Ki

I have to make a stand here and publically admit something that will make Ryan utterly and totally shocked... I don't and haven't run EVERY card in every circuit unbooked.... ever. While most matches have been unbooked in certain circuits, there are some times when a match MUST be booked for continuity's sake.
