Pre-Game Show Match
Petey Williams vs. "The Amazing" Red
Before the pay-per-view began, we had a match from the cruiserweight division as Petey Williams, who has been on somewhat of a roll, taking on The Amazing Red. This was the first match of the evening for the live crowd, and they were hot for this high-flying match. It was a bit of a spot fest, but this match was a crowd pleaser, especially when Petey hit the Canadian Destroyer to pick up the win.

Petey Williams pinned Red with the Canadian Destroyer in 0:07:17.
Rating: ***

Welcome to the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado, and welcome to Chaos Reigns! Joey O'Donnell and Brian Wagner are here to call all the action, and what action we have in store for you! Nine huge matches, including all five titles on the line! Enough stalling - let's get right to it!

Match #1
World Tag Team Title Match
The World's Greatest Tag Team (c) vs. "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles/Paul London
Our night kicked off with our first title match, and it was one that the World's Greatest Tag Team has been trying to get out of for the past month as they defended the World Tag Team Titles against AJ Styles and Paul London. Before the match, video clips were shown of Styles and London defeating the champs in a non-title match, Shelton Benjamin's cheap win over London as well as Styles beating Charlie Haas two weeks ago on Explosion. As his match got going, it looked like the challengers once again had the champs' number. I don't think the WGTT believe they can beat Styles and London and it has gotten completely in their heads. They are a stellar team though, and late in the match, Benjamin and Styles stumbled to the floor and began to brawl. Styles tried to whip Benjamin into the ring post, but Benjamin reversed it and sent the Phenomenal One head first into the post. Styles hit hard, and you could tell immediately that he was knocked loopy. It was later revealed that Styles suffered a mild concussion and is going to miss a couple weeks of ring time. While referee Antonio Santangelo jumped to the floor to break up that fight, ELIX SKIPPER ran down and grabbed one of the tag title belts from the timekeeper's table and jumped in the ring, looking to nail Haas with it. Remember that Skipper and Low-Ki get a World Tag Team Title shot as soon as the WGTT are no longer the champs. Skipper went at Haas with the title belt but Haas ducked out of the way. Skipper smashed London, knocking him unconscious onto the ropes. Skipper got clotheslined out of the ring by Haas who quickly got London with a rolling reverse cradle. Haas pulled the tights for good measure and the World's Greatest Tag Team retained the titles.

The World's Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin) defeated AJ Styles and Paul London when C. Haas pinned London after a rolling reverse cradle in 0:11:16.
AJ Styles suffered a concussion. He will be out for approximately 2 weeks.
Rating: *** 3/4
(The World's Greatest Tag Team retained the GCW World Tag Team Titles.)

When Elix Skipper realized the mistake he made, he was not happy as he stormed to the back. Haas and Benjamin escaped with a victory here for sure, but no matter how it happened, their impressive reign as the champs continue.

LOW-KI WANTS ANSWERS FROM ELIX SKIPPER
Low-Ki found Elix Skipper backstage, and he was pissed off to say the least. Ki wanted to know what the hell Skipper was trying to do out there. When Skipper said he was trying to cost the WGTT the match, Ki was not happy saying that's not how he wanted to do business. Before this confrontation could go any further, AJ STYLES and PAUL LONDON flew in and started brawling with Skipper and Low-Ki! The GCW Official Brigade got the fight separated, but Styles and London have made it abundantly clear what they think about Skipper costing them the chance at the World Tag Team Titles.

Match #2
Booker T (w/ Sharmell) vs. Goldust
Goldust is insistent that Booker T left him to get his ass kicked a month or so ago by the World's Greatest Tag Team, and despite Booker insisting that he was locked in his dressing room, Goldust took it upon himself to end their team by turning on Booker T. This match was the result, and poor Goldust never knew what hit him. At Sharmell's urging, Booker went to town on Booker and hardly let Goldust get any offense in. Goldust spent most of this match running, but he couldn't get away from the Axe Kick and a 1-2-3 for Booker T.

Booker T pinned Goldust with the Axe Kick in 0:04:39.
Rating: *** 1/4

What a dominating display by Booker as he quickly dispatched his old partner, but I have a feeling things aren't done with this feud. While Booker was celebrating, DAFFNEY of the Prophecy sprinted out to attack Sharmell! We had a huge catfight at ringside, and nobody was sure why. That is, until Booker T went out to the floor to break it up, only to be jumped from behind by SEAN O'HAIRE! O'Haire picked Booker up and dropped him throat first over the guardrail, leaving Booker lying. O'Haire and Daffney then helped Goldust out of the ring and to the back. Is Goldust the newest member of the Prophecy?

Match #3
Lance Storm's Retirement Match
Lance Storm vs. "Y2J" Chris Jericho
The match kicked off with Lance Storm getting a HUGE ovation in this, his final match ever. Tons of "PLEASE DON'T GO!" and "THANK YOU, LANCE!" chants accompanied Lance Storm during this match, who was getting a little emotional (in that Storm no emotion kind of way). Despite all of the crowd reaction surrounding the match, Storm zoned in and he and Jericho put on a tremendous match. This being Storm's last match, he brought it all, holding nothing back and wrestling with that passion we all know he has. It might be Storm's night, but Jericho is a competitor, and he wasn't just going to let Storm have this win. Jericho wrestled like the former World champion that he is. Storm looked like he was going to win this match when he tried to slide through Y2J's legs for the Maple Leaf, but Jericho countered with a stomp to the head. Storm got up quickly as Jericho bounced into the ropes. Storm went for a clothesline but Jericho ducked and countered into a crucifix, which allowed him to get the duke.

Chris Jericho pinned Lance Storm after a crucifix in 0:14:46.
Rating: ****

What a great match, but this wasn't the way that Storm wanted to go out. After arguing with the ref a bit about the count, it sunk in for Storm that he was pinned in his last match ever. Jericho helped Storm up to his feet and offered Storm a handshake. Storm hesitated but eventually shook hands to a huge ovation. Storm still had a look of disbelief etched on his face though, and when Y2J offered him a second handshake, he snapped, nailing Jericho under the chin with a superkick! The crowd couldn't believe what they were seeing as Storm locked Jericho in the Maple Leaf and refused to let go despite the GCW Official Brigade coming down and trying to pull him off. Storm eventually let go of the dangerous hold, but not after having it on Jericho for almost 3 minutes. We have seen a few signs of this in the past few weeks, but we never thought it would turn into anything like this. Lance Storm left to a chorus of boos as Jericho clutched his back in pain and was helped to the back.

Match #4
Cruiserweight Title Match
Rey Mysterio Jr. (c) vs. Frankie "The Future" Kazarian
Frankie Kazarian has been saying ever since he lost the Cruiserweight Title at Super Cade that Rey Mysterio Jr. is walking around with his title. It is true that Mysterio never has defeated Kazarian, but Mysterio did outlast 5 of the best cruiserweights, including Kazarian to win the title in Cruiserweight Chaos III. Kazarian had his chance tonight to prove himself in a singles match against Mysterio, and what an exciting contest this was. Kazarian came prepared and knew that his key to success would be to use his size and strength advantage, because nobody is going to out fly Rey Mysterio Jr. For as good as Kazarian was, Mysterio seemed to be that much better, always beating the Future to the punch time after time. To Kazarian's credit though, he took a lot of punishment but he showed a will to win, refusing to let Mysterio keep his shoulders to the mat and always fighting back. Near the end of this contest, both men were fighting their way up the turnbuckles in an attempt to find a big move that might put the other man away. Mysterio tried to hit a top-rope huracanrana, but Kazarian's strength allowed him to block it and keep Mysterio up top. Mysterio tried to reposition himself for a different move, but Kazarian got him in a front facelock and brought Mysterio to the canvas with a sickening top-rope DDT. I don't care who you are - that is not a move you're going to kick out of. Three seconds later, Kazarian had did exactly what he said he would do.

Frankie Kazarian pinned Rey Mysterio Jr. after a top-rope DDT in 0:10:59.
Rating: ****
(Frankie Kazarian won the GCW Cruiserweight Title.)

Not many people were giving Kazarian much of a chance in this match, but he proved a lot of people wrong by not only beating Rey Mysterio, but beating him cleanly. Mysterio was disappointed to not walk out of Denver with the Cruiserweight Title, but he will live to fight another day. But now the question is, will Frankie Kazarian ever let us hear the end of this?

KID KASH CHALLENGES FRANKIE KAZARIAN
"The Notorious K.I.D." Kid Kash was waiting for Frankie Kazarian when he came to the back, and he started screaming at him and demanding that he get the first shot for the Cruiserweight Title, and that if he didn't volunteer to give him a title shot, he would go to Tommy Dreamer and get a title shot that way. Kazarian's reply was, "What good do you think that would do? Tommy Dreamer doesn't like you. Hell, nobody likes you!" Kash was fuming, but he fumed even more so when Kazarian told him fat chance on getting a title shot any time soon. Kash was too angry to even move as Kazarian walked away laughing, patting the Cruiserweight Title that was on his shoulder.

Match #5
Television Title Match
Matt Hardy (c) vs. "The Rated R Superstar" Edge (w/ Lita)
With all of the bad blood that has developed behind the scenes with Matt Hardy and Edge, everyone knew this match had the potential to get really ugly really quickly. Right from the opening bell, well, before the opening bell as these two couldn't wait to fight, this was nothing more than a fight. These two are extremely gifted technical wrestlers, but from watching this match you would never know it. Edge has the size and strength advantage so with the way these two were going at it, it didn't take long for Matt Hardy to be busted wide open. Hardy tried firing shots back, but Edge was just too strong for him and wore him down with several hard punches. Hardy was practically out on his feet, and after Edge nailed him with two vicious kicks in the head, referee Petey Pluck made a gutsy decision and called the match as he felt Hardy could no longer defend himself.

Edge defeated Matt Hardy by referee stoppage in 0:07:40.
Rating: *** 3/4
(Edge won the GCW Television Title.)

This was not a popular decision in Denver as the sold out crowd was all over Petey Pluck with boos, but I think he made the right decision because Hardy wasn't defending himself any longer. That's rough for Hardy though, as not only did he lose the match, but this makes Edge the brand new Television champion. Edge and Lita showed what kind of depraved souls they are by laughing at Matt Hardy while officials helped him to the back. Hardy may have lost the battle, but the war is just beginning.

Match #6
Abyss/The Hurricane vs. John Bradshaw Layfield/Steve Bradley (w/ Lamont)
For months JBL has been running away from Abyss in any way he can, but he couldn't escape at Super Cade when Abyss beat JBL one-on-one. A tag match was scheduled for this month with Abyss teaming with his little buddy The Hurricane and JBL teaming with his hired gun, Rhyno. However, when Abyss and Rhyno met in a falls-count-anywhere match, Abyss put Rhyno on the shelf with a huge power bomb off of the stage through a table. JBL had to practically beg Kurt Angle for help, which was given to him in the form of Steve Bradley (fortunately for Lamont, because I'm sure he would be the partner if Angle had turned JBL down). JBL and Bradley made a surprisingly good team, not so much because they communicated well but mostly because they're two big bastards who like to fight. Abyss and The Hurricane have become very close as the superhero is the only person who has ever taken the time to really get to know Abyss and give him a chance and they're as close as brothers. The strategy of the heel team was obviously to isolate The Hurricane, but with as quick as he is, that is easier said than done. The Hurricane isn't stupid either and knew that they would try to isolate him, so he made frequent tags to Abyss to prevent that. However, when they finally did get The Hurricane isolated, he couldn't withstand the beatdown from JBL and Bradley. Bradley showed us a new wrinkle in his arsenal when he hit The Hurricane with a high impact moonsault that was enough to put this one away.

John Bradshaw Layfield and Steve Bradley defeated Abyss and The Hurricane when S. Bradley pinned Hurricane after a moonsault in 0:07:26.
Rating: *** 3/4

Abyss quickly jumped in the ring to prevent any more damage to be inflicted on his little buddy. JBL made a wise choice in partner, but now he owes Kurt Angle a favor, which is not an enviable position to be in.

EDDIE GUERRERO'S CRUSADE TO GET AT MICK FOLEY CONTINUES
"Latino Heat" Eddie Guerrero came out yet again to see if Mick Foley had shown up, and judging by the empty seat in the front row, I don't think he is showing up. Eddie seemed to find great joy in being able to call Foley a coward, and he may have a point. Guerrero has persistently called Foley out and we've yet to even hear a peep out of Foley. Eddie said that he has had enough of Foley ducking him and said that he's bought a plane ticket and he is going to go to the airport right now and fly to Long Island and find Foley at his home. Normally, this would seem like an idle threat, but Eddie Guerrero is crazy enough to do it. I hope Mick Foley was watching this to be ready to protect his family if Latino Heat does show up.

Match #7
Eric Angle vs. Kurt Angle
For the second pay-per-view in a row, we had two brothers squaring off, but this month may have been the more shocking of the two as Eric Angle and Kurt Angle went toe-to-toe. Before I get into the match, it must be said that both of these guys deserve a lot of credit for even wrestling this match as they are both sporting injuries that would have put most men out of this match. There was far too much animosity between these two for either one to sit out though. If you ever want to learn anything about counter wrestling and how to wrestle on the mat, this is a match you HAVE to see. Both of the Angle brothers are mat specialists, and their familiarity with one another made this match filled with some spectacular counter wrestling. These two have trained together and wrestled together since they were kids, and they put it all out there for this one, obviously their most important match against each other. This match would degenerate from a mat classic to a fist fight in a hurry, and with what these two have been through, it's not surprising. Kurt found his opportunity to work over Eric's injured ankle, and he had evil intentions of putting him out of commission for good. Eric refused to give up though, and found his way back into the match with a desperation Angle Slam, but Kurt somehow kicked out before the three. Eric fired up and hit another sequence of moves on Kurt before limping his way up to the top for a moonsault, but when he jumped off, Kurt repositioned his body in a way that he could grab Eric's ankle and put on the Ankle Lock. Eric screamed in pain and tried any counter he could think of to get out, but Kurt was like a pitbull and refused to let go. Eventually the pain became too great for Eric's already damaged ankle and he was forced to tap out.

Kurt Angle made Eric Angle submit to the Ankle Lock in 0:18:24.
Rating: ****

What a match this was, and it's a shame that only one man could win. A major part of this match was about bragging rights, and it looks like for now, Kurt has them. We thought Kurt was showing a change of heart when he approached his brother Eric with concern for his well being, even helping Eric to his feet. It was only a setup however as he wanted to hit one more Angle Slam before heading to the back. He may be the winner tonight, but Kurt Angle is disgusting.

Match #8
Fire Table Match for the North American Title
"The Alpha Male" Monty Brown (c) vs. CM Punk (w/ Daffney)
CM Punk's sick fascination with fire has led us to a GCW first, and that was a Fire Table Match. "The Alpha Male" Monty Brown has been plagued by the Prophecy since Deadly Draw, including having a fireball thrown in his face and being driven through a fire table. In this match, the only way to win is to put your opponent through a table that has been set on fire. This is a very dangerous environment and it was hard not to believe that Punk had the mental advantage over the reigning North American champion. But Brown had the power advantage, and he used it early to wear Punk down. Punk managed to keep himself in this one with well placed pokes to the eye and other cheating tactics, and then trying to hit and run. During one of those hit and run sessions though, the action spilled to the floor out in front of the announce table. Punk commanded Daffney to pour lighter fluid all over the table of Joey O'Donnell and Brian Wagner, but while Punk was trying to light it, Brown got back up and nailed Punk from behind, picked him up, and drove him through the table with a choke slam! The problem was, the match wasn't over because the table wasn't on fire. Brown wasn't too concerned though because with Punk wiped out, all he had to do is get another table, set it on fire, and put Punk through it. He didn't get that chance though as SEAN O'HAIRE and GOLDUST ran out and started beating him down while Daffney helped Punk get up. Punk set up a table and lit it on fire while O'Haire and Goldust continued their assault on the Alpha Male. The Prophecy was all ready to put Brown through the table and capture the North American Title until CHRISTOPHER DANIELS ran out with a chair in hand and cracked O'Haire in the head! The Fallen Angel is back! Daniels took a second swing and laid Goldust out, leaving only CM Punk. Punk was stern and tried to get Daniels to follow his commands like he had so often, but Daniels just smiled before he belted Punk right between the eyes with the chair! The crowd was exploding in cheers as Daniels went to the back more fired up than we have ever seen him. Brown got back to his feet and saw Punk down, picked him up, and put him through the fire table.

Fire Table No-Countout-No-DQ-Match:
Monty Brown defeated CM Punk in 0:12:00.
Rating: *** 3/4
(Monty Brown retained the GCW North American Title.)

Monty Brown is still the North American champion, but he needed an assist from a returning Christopher Daniels and a whole lot of luck to overcome the odds. With the Fallen Angel making his return, CM Punk cannot be happy about where Daniels' allegiances are lying. We hope to hear from Christopher Daniels tomorrow night to get his side of this whole story.

UNSURPRISINGLY, RANDY ORTON IS CONFIDENT GOING INTO THE MAIN EVENT
Right before our main event we heard from Randy Orton and his daddy Bob Orton Jr. before he went out to wrestle Brock Lesnar for the World Heavyweight Title. The Ortons looked like they had a plan as Randy seemed far too confident for someone who is about wrestle the Monster From Minnesota. Randy Orton said that Lesnar is big, Lesnar is strong, Lesnar is a merciless monster, but he has a secret weapon, and you spell it with three little letters - R.K.O. Lesnar is bigger than him, but Orton said he is smarter, and he guarantees that he will be leaving Denver, Colorado as the World Heavyweight champion.

Match #9
MAIN EVENT
World Heavyweight Title Match
Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Randy Orton
Brock Lesnar's first pay-per-view title defense was a fantastic one as he put the championship on the line against Randy Orton. Conspicuous by his absence was "Cowboy" Bob Orton Jr., who usually accompanies his son to his matches. That was a bit unsettling, but it didn't detour Lesnar from his game plan, which was to run right through Orton like the unstoppable wrestling machine he is. Orton is too damn arrogant and cocky to think anyone can beat him though, and what resulted was an awesome match. Orton has no respect for anybody and is an overall jerk, but he is always well prepared, and he had Lesnar scouted perfectly. Lesnar's had a nagging rib injury for a couple of months now and Orton's goal was to target those ribs. The plan went into motion when he threw Lesnar hard into the ring steps, and for a good section of this match, Lesnar was in serious trouble and gasping for air.

You can never count Brock Lesnar out of anything though. The Monster From Minnesota fought so hard and so long to get the World Heavyweight Title around his waist and he wasn't ready to give it up after only a month. Lesnar kept firing back and punishing Orton, but it was obvious that his ribs were in bad shape and maybe there wasn't as much behind his shots as there would normally be. Orton injured Lesnar's ribs so badly that Lesnar was struggling to get Randy Orton up for the F-5. Every time he would try, his body would either give out on him or Orton would have time to escape. Lesnar would eventually hit the F-5, but before he could make the cover, we found out why Bob Orton Jr. hadn't come out to ringside with his son. It was because he had a Pearl Harbor job planned for Lesnar, nailing the World Heavyweight champion with that damn cast! Randy made the slow crawl over to Lesnar to make the cover, but Lesnar somehow got his shoulder up at two! The Ortons couldn't believe it as Randy Orton got in referee Jimmy Appleseed's face and pushed him, causing Appleseed to push Orton back. While they argued Lesnar recovered enough that he could take Orton down with a German suplex. Lesnar pulled out his rarely used Brock Lock next, a devastating submission move. Orton screamed out in pain and tried desperately to get to the ropes, but he couldn't escape Lesnar's grip and tapped out.

Brock Lesnar made Randy Orton submit to the Brock Lock in 0:22:48.
Rating: **** 1/4
(Brock Lesnar retained the GCW World Heavyweight Title.)

Randy Orton had a great plan going into this match, but Lesnar fought hard through it and retained his title. A great way to end a great pay-per-view. Thanks for joining us everybody!

another great job dude i just ejw plays out half as well as GCW has.
MatteusPosted on 06/08/06 at 20:43:09

Great opener and the champs retain as expected, but Skipper going out there without Ki's knowledge is pretty sweet. Skipper and Ki against Styles and London will be a hot hot hot feud ;D!

WHAAA?! Goldust in the Prophecy?? That's SOOOO awesome!!! Booker dominated, making me 1/2 in predictions, but that's okay b/c the post-match was so sweet!

1/3 ... soooo, I'm guessing this wasn't Storm's retirement match after all, lol. Great fight though and it should lead to some interesting stuff.

Awesome match for the CW title and Kazarian regains the strap to make me 1/4, damn. I'm loving it so far. Kash's challenge afterwards was pretty funny too. Question: Rey won the belt at Super Cade on 6/19 ... coincidence?

Woow, now that's a fight! I like the ref stoppage here though, b/c it leaves room for a rematch and more feudage. I'm guessing Kenny will be involved somehow soon enough :P ... 2/5

Ouch, that was brutal. Hurricane just can't seem to get ahead sometimes. I'm 2/6 and sucking, but a good segment there and I'm wondering what JBL's favor to Kurt will be.

FALLEN ANGEL!!!!! What a great return and what a match! I cannot wait for some Dabiels vs. Punk greatness!!! 3/7

Awesome main event too! I come out even, 4/8, but the Brock Lock as the finish made me mark out big-time! Here's to a long-long reign for Brock and another great GCW show!!
