UW Fury (5/22/06)

MatteusPosted on 05/30/06 at 19:31:16

Sorry for the delay... I just got back from a week-long vacation down the shore. Aaaah, and I'm relaxed. Let's go!

UW Fury (May 22, 2006)

"Do The Evolution" starts things off and once the pyro is through, UW Fury is officially kicked off! Tonight's show features an enormous main event! After last week's attack on the World champion Triple H by MNM, Booker T rushed to the aid of his F'N Fury opponent. Tonight, Matteus has announced that MNM will have to put their tag team titles on the line against the world champ and the top contender to his belt! Can these two coexist and walk into F'N Fury as tag team champions? After last week's tag team match ended with Team Canada's revenge and Orlando Jordan hitting Edge with the Black Ice, Edge has a chance to qualify for Kingdom Come by defeating OJ in a qualifying match. Meanwhile, Edge's buddy Teddy Hart will try to qualify against John Cena! Chavo Guerrero has promised to bring glory to the Guerrero family once more, and he'll try to do so against Randy Orton! All this and more action tonight, live from Clemson University in South Carolina! Let's get to the action!

"King of Kings" by Motorhead hit the speakers and the UW World champion Triple H came out to a huge ovation. Hunter didn't look like he was in the mood to joke around tonight, although he seems to sway between more and less serious depending on what the moment demands. Last week, he was laid out by the tag team champions, MNM. They hit him with the Snapshot and Triple H said he was still feeling the effects of that move the next morning. But as pissed off as that made him, he was even moreso when Booker T came down and saved him. This brought out Booker T who looked like he was absolutely going to rip Triple H's head off. He helped Triple H last week and saved him from an even worse beating from MNM! Booker said that he wanted Triple H as fresh as possible for their title match at F'N Fury this Friday. Hunter said that was bogus. Booker conveniently waited until after MNM nailed Triple H with the Snapshot before he even lifted a pinky. Booker wants Triple H to be weak at F'N Fury because that's the only way he can beat him. But like it or not, Triple H is the best there is, and Booker T isn't going to have a chance when they face off this Friday. Booker told him that he may have saved him last week, but if Hunter gets in too deep against MNM tonight in their tag title match, Booker doesn't give a damn. Booker's walking out of F'N Fury as World champion one way or another. Booker's music played and Hunter got in his face. The two stared one another down as we cut to commercial.

Kingdom Come Qualifying Match:
John Cena vs. "X-Rated" Teddy Hart

After essentially being called a whiny two-bit punk bitch last week by Cena, Teddy Hart wasn't taking any prisoners this week, as he came down to the ring carrying a baseball bat. When Cena stepped foot in the ring, Hart took a swing at Cena with the bat, but John ducked and started punching away at the loose cannon, almost clotheslining him out of his boots before he tossed him from the ring and worked the crowd. When Hart reentered the ring, he took more of a beating from the street-saavy Cena, who hit him with a release fisherman suplex and locked in the STFU before Teddy made it to the ropes. Hart eventually took control and kept the much stronger Cena grounded with a leglock. He worked over Cena with a variety of technical moves, but made the mistake of going for the big high risk finish a few minutes too soon. Cena caught Hart as he attempted a moonsault and tried to hit the FU, but Hart reversed it into a sunset flip for two. Hart kneed Cena in the gut and delivered a suplex followed by a second rope elbowdrop, for two and a half. Hart went for the kill right then and there, setting up for another top rope moonsault, but before he left the turnbuckle, Cena came up from behind and nailed him with a vicious sitout powerbomb! The referee counted the fall on a stunned Hart and that was all she wrote!

John Cena pinned Teddy Hart after a sitout powerbomb in 8:39.
Rating: *** 3/4

John Cena is the fifth man to qualify for Kingdom Come! His first round opponent for June 24th will be decided later tonight, as his friend and partner Orlando Jordan faces off against "The Rated R Superstar" Edge!

Clips of Limited Edition beating Major League last week were shown, and then we cut to Josh Mathews who is with "Cocky" Sonny Siaki and "Superstar" Steven Richards backstage. Richards says that they were devastated last week against Dinsmore and Conway, but their luck is about to change and it starts tonight. Siaki agreed and said that tonight he gets the privelege of defeating Brian Kendrick and Generation Next's Alex Shelley in a singles preview of their tag team triple threat match at F'N Fury. Richards chimed in, saying that this Friday he and Siaki are primed to show the world once and for all that they are what their name implies: major league.

Backstage, "The Alpha Male" Monty Brown cut a promo on Generation Next. He threatened (or promised) permanent bodily harm on Austin Aries this Friday at F'N Fury. And if Helms or Shelley think they're going to stick their nose in his business once again, they have another thing coming. He has plans for them to ensure that his and Aries' match stays one-on-one. And after he's done to Austin Aries what he did Alex Shelley at No Justice, he's coming for the littlest big dog of Gen Next, Gregory Shane Helms. Helms can't duck him much longer, because sooner or later, he's going to have to step into the UW Serengetti. No matter what, when it's all said and done, Generation Next will feel the POUNCE! Period.

"The Enforcer" Bobby Roode vs. John Bradshaw Layfield

Three weeks ago, these two met in tag team action, and the fans were rather impressed with the power shown by "The Enforcer" as he seemingly manhandled JBL for a portion of the match. This week they went toe-to-toe, and despite a rough start, Roode was rather impressive again against the established vet. Roode seemed to be suffering some ill effects of the Conchairto he took from Edge and Teddy Hart three weeks ago, as JBL handled him early on. JBL was smug and confident, despite the fans chanting "We want OJ" over and over, as he delivered a thunderous big boot to the face of Bobby Roode and arrogantly covered only getting two. He dropped a couple elbows on his chest and powerslammed The Enforcer to the mat for two and a half, but when he tried for the Clothesline From Hell, Roode ducked and hit him with a shoulderblock of his own. But JBL didn't budge. Roode bounced off again and hit another shoulderblock to no avail and once again but this time he hit the Texan with a flying shoulderblock, knocking him on his back. Roode was able to keep Layfield reeling with a surprising power display which included superplexing JBL! He covered him after that move, but only got two and a half. Roode tried to powerbomb JBL, but perhaps he was overzealous as Layfield backdropped him and kicked him in the stomach, following up with the Clothesline From Hell for the pinfall victory.

John Bradshaw Layfield pinned Bobby Roode with the Clothesline From Hell in 13:23.
Rating: * 3/4

JBL pulled off a huge win against The Enforcer, but more importantly he gained back some much-needed momentum going into next week's Kingdom Come qualifying match against Roode's Team Canada mate, Petey Williams!

MNM's music played and the red carpet rolled out. The paparazzi flashed away as Melina led her tag team champions Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury down to the ring. Melina had an announcement before she started: if Triple H ever tries to violate her again like he did last week, he'll be joining the Vienna Boys Choir permanently, if he catches her drift. She then introduced YOUR World Tag Team champions, MNM! Mercury got on the stick and said that he has a newsflash for the audience in attendance and watching at home: Booker T is 41 years old. Nitro and Mercury combined are about as old as The Book! And guess what, experience isn't going to play a factor when you're an old man on the brink of retirement. Booker is no Ric Flair, and neither is Triple H. They showed they can handle Trips last week and there is no way they're not making it to F'N Fury with the gold intact. Nitro got on the mic and said that everyone's been talking about Limited Edition's "statement win" last week against Major League. He said that MNM must've missed it sometime between shining their gold belts and kicking the world champion's ass. But on Friday, it's not going to matter. Limited Edition is through and MNM is staying where they belong, on top of the UW tag team division.

Brian Kendrick vs. "The Next" Alex Shelley vs. "Cocky" Sonny Siaki

This was a huge match for all three men heading into this Friday's triple threat tag team match. Although the match has not been officially slated as a Top Contenders match, whichever team pulls off a victory against the other two teams is sure to shoot up the ranks of the tag team division here in UW. The team with perhaps the most to gain from a victory is Major League, represented by Sonny Siaki tonight, and Siaki made his presence known by attacking both Kendrick and Shelley before the bell even sounded, sending Shelley to the outside and working over Brian in the ring. He hit Kendrick with a brainbuster and followed with a piledriver for two. But Shelley reentered the fray by vaulting off the top rope and hitting a legdrop on Siaki as he was covering Kendrick. He took over and hit Siaki with a spinning side suplex and a modified swinging neckbreaker, but Kendrick hit himwith a top rope sunset flip before he could make the cover. The three continued trading off moves and nearfalls until Shelley hit Kendrick with the Shell Shock, but before he knew what hit him Sonny Siaki nailed Shelley with the Siakilypse NOW and covered to get the huge pinfall!

Sonny Siaki defeated Alex Shelley and Brian Kendrick when Siaki pinned Shelley with the Siakilypse NOW in 7:07.
Rating: *** 1/2

That may be just the big win that Major League needed to propel them to success this Friday. They're still without a tag team victory, and if either Gen Next or London and Kendrick have their way, that trend will continue at F'N Fury.

Orlando Jordan walked out to the ring wearing shades and a stylish unbuttoned silk shirt. He carried himself like The Rock and even did the eyebrow toward the camera! Although OJ has been trained by Rocky Johnson, some may say he's starting to take his imitation of Johnson's son The Rock a bit far, but the fans seemed to love it tonight, so who's to say? Jordan got on the mic and did his "Finally" shtick before saying that tonight he takes yet another step toward UW greatness and toward becoming the UW's superstar king. He called Edge a jabroni and said that once he walked out here, "The Juice" was going to lay a classic Orlando Jordan smackdown on his Canadian bacon ass. "Metalingus" by Alterbridge played, ushering Edge to the ring. He made fun of OJ because he's not able to get over on his own, so he has to steal someone else's gimmick. By the way, The Rock does it better. Edge said that before OJ could ask Edge what his name washe'd tell him he's the star of the show! He's the reason everybody is here tonight and everyone is watching Fury! He's the Rated R Super-but OJ interrupted and said IT DOESN'T MATTER WHO HE IS! Edge decked...er...The Juice, starting the match.

Kingdom Come Qualifying Match:
"The Juice" Orlando Jordan vs. "The Rated R Superstar" Edge

Edge was able to keep OJ... The Juice... whatever, subdued early on and almost got a quick win after he hit a backwards faceplant and cradled the legs for two and a half. After taking him down with some punches and a spinebuster, he went to the top rope and nailed Jordan with a flying dropkick. Jordan kicked out of the pin attempt, but Edge kept the pressure on, locking him in a side headlock until Orlando fought out of it an hit him with a side suplex, following with a series of clotheslines and jabs and a roundhouse right that knocked Edge down for good. Jordan made the cover but Edge kicked out. Jordan hit a fisherman suplex for two and half, and slammed Edge down hitting him with a second rope elbowdrop. Edge reversed an Irish whip and Jordan ducked a clothesline, but Edge sidestepped a shoulderblock and when OJ came bouncing off the ropes, Edge hit him with the Spear! It was academic from there as the ref counted the pin for Edge.

Edge pinned Orlando Jordan with the Spear in 8:28.
Rating: ***

What a win for Edge! Jordan put up a tremendous effort against the Canadian, but experience won out and Edge is heading to Kingdom Come to face John Cena in the first round.

Updated Kingdom Come tournament pairings:
- Shelton Benjamin vs. Gregory Shane Helms
- Sean O'Haire vs. [TBD May 28th]
- "The Alpha Male" Monty Brown vs. Petey Williams/JBL
- John Cena vs. "The Rated R Superstar" Edge

"This Fire Burns" by Killswitch Engage plays and out walked "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton. He walked to the ring with an ever-present confident grin adorning his face. Orton announced that he will be a special guest of Jeff Jarrett's at F'N Fury for a VERY special edition of Planet Jarrett. Has a special message for a good friend. But that's Friday. Tonight he wishes he could kill a legend, but it seems the legend of the Guerrero family is long, long dead. And it's not going to be revived by a wannabe riding the coat tails of another wannabe. He said Eddie Guerrero needed to die in order to get fans, and now he's not even around to enjoy it. Chavo had heard enough at this point, as his music played and he raced down to the ring.

Chavo Guerrero vs. "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton

Chavo came in once again with a head of steam, and it worked to Randys advantage as he took the unprepared Guerrero down with a series of forearm shots. Chavo fought back right away, however, leveling Orton with stiff rights before hitting him with a clothesline and the Three Amigos. It seemed a little early for that, and when he went for the Frog Splash, Orton moved and Chavo came crashing down. Orton systematically took Chavo apart with his normal assortment from there, but when he went for the RKO, Chavo pushed off and nailed him with a dropkick. Chavo pounded his chest and started to show that classic Guerrero fire and temper, kneeling over Randy and smashing him in the face with a flurry of punches. Orton tried to cover up, but Guerrero kept on going! The ref tried to pull him off of The Legend Killer, but Chavo shoved him away! You could tell the ref wanted to call for a DQ, but Guerrero stopped him and pleaded with him not to call for the bell. But as he begged the ref not to do so, Orton woke back up and nailed the distracted Guerrero with a low blow and turned him around for the RKO! He covered Chavo and got the win!

Randy Orton pinned Chavo Guerrero with the RKO in 13:09
Rating: ** 3/4

Orton wins a big one he needed to stay on track in the World title rankings! He outsmarted and outcheated Guerrero and he made sure he let Chavo know that as he walked up the ramp. Chavo just stared blankly into the crowd. He kept staring as "Burn in the Light" finished playing. He hadn't moved an inch since sitting up after being pinned with the RKO. Chavo slowly sat up, and once again to his surprise the fans started cheering him as he stood! Guerrero looked dumb-founded once again, but started to smile a bit when the fans' applause grew louder and louder! He grabbed the house mic and stood in the center of the ring once more, smiling from ear to ear. He slapped his chest and pointed to the sky. The fans chanted "Eddie! Eddie!" and Chavo nodded enthusiastically in approval. He soaked up the cheers and accolades for a minute before bringing the mic to his mouth, smiling, and simply saying "All of you, every one of you fans... can all go to hell." He dropped the mic and walked out of the ring as the fans sat in stunned silence. Some fans started to boo as he left, but Chavo's actions have left most of the fans in shock!

Backstage, Josh Mathews hyped F'N Fury this Friday and Kingdom Come next month, when Generation Next interrupted and literally tossed Mathews off camera. Gregory Shane Helms said that he's tired of The Alpha Freak spreading lies about him ducking an ex-football player. The truth is, Brown still isn't in Helms' league. But... if Brown wants to play hardball then Generation Next is ready to play, and they play harder than anyone else. Aries looked at the camera and said that if Monty Brown can defeat him at F'N Fury this Friday, then he'll be "rewarded" with a match against the leader of Generation Next, and in that match Gen Next will be banned from ringside! Shelley said there was no way The Alpha Freak would walk out of F'N Fury with the win, and he'll guarantee that. Monty Brown will be lucky if he walks out of the arena at all...

UW World Tag Team Title Match:
MNM (c) w/ Melina vs. Booker T and "The Game" Triple H

Booker and Trips looked quite apprehensive about tagging together tonight, but they seemed to set aside their differences when the bell rang. Booker T opted to start out the match against Johnny Nitro, who was pointing to Triple H arguing that if he wouldn't have been able to keep his hands to himself last week, Nitro would have been World champion. This enraged Triple H and he tried to come into the ring, Joey Mercury came in and blindsided Booker T, and with the ref turned toward Hunter, MNM double teamed Booker mercilously! This put Booker in a bad position for quite some time, as it seemed any time he would take control in the match, MNM would somehow find a way to keep him from his corner. Melina played a huge part in this, distracting the ref at one point where Booker actually made the tag and another time luring Triple H away from the corner as Booker tried to make a tag. Nitro hit a standing moonsault on Booker, but Triple H had finally had enough and he broke the pin and rushed to MNM's corner and took out Mercury as well! The Game was on fire! He went outside and chased Melina away from ringside, as she went running to the back. Hunter made his way back to the ring and Booker was finally able to make the tag! Triple H went crazy in the ring, tagging Nitro with punches and hitting him with a spinebuster for two. Mercury ran in, but Hunter hit him with a spinebuster too. As Hunter went to set up Nitro for the Pedigree, Melina ran back to the ring and Hunter stopped her from entering the ring, while Mercury shoved him into the still tired Booker T, tagging him in! Hunter was stunned, but surprisingly left the ring as Nitro and Mercury pulled Booker into the ring and started attacking him! They pummeled Booker and set him up for the Snapshot, but Hunter slid back into the ring, now with a sledgehammer in tow and nailed Joey Mercury right in the face with it! He dropped Booker as the ref called for the bell.

MNM (Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro) defeated Booker T and Triple H when Mercury defeated Triple H by disqualification in 22:55.
Rating *****
(MNM retained the UW World Tag Team Titles.)

Triple H hit Nitro with th sledgehammer as well, knocking him down and out of the ring. He picked Booker up and steadied him, so they were looking eye-to-eye. With Booker still somewhat weakened, Hunter told him that THAT is how you make the heroic save. He turned to leave the ring, but before getting half-way out of the ring he turned again and blasted Booker T with the sledgehammer! He looked down on Booker and told him "and that's why I'M the champ." He said he'd see him this Friday. Booker was laid out in the ring and the fans were torn as to how to react to Triple H! He still left the ring to cheers, but Booker's fans seemed to have shown their allegiance as "King of Kings" played. The battle lines have been drawn and fan allegiances are being tested, folks! See you Friday for our packed F'N Fury special!

I like the way the Triple H vs Booker T feud is going, you manage to pull off quite a different set-up than their real-life feud a few years ago. I really hope Triple H retains though.

Good to see Cena winning with a real finisher, not the lame-ass moves he somehow puts away his opponents with.

I can't say this enough.. MNM rocks.. too bad they couldn't stay friends and keep their hands of the drugs. They could have gone down in history along the likes of the Dudley Boyz, Rockers, Hart Foundation, Legion of Doom, etc.. I don't see Limited Edition taking their gold away.

I'm not convinced by Jordan's Rocky-act, at least not when he lost against Edge. What's OJ... I mean, the Juice's heat rating at in your circuit?

Excellent main event! Triple H is not a commonly seen character around here, and it's nice to see him so colorful and interesting as you make him.

Predictions:

Triple H retains
MNM retain
Sean O'Haire
Monty Brown
Edge / Hart
Major League

Strong promo to open the show.  Glad to see HHH's pride was hurt enough by Booker saving him that it caused him to lash out at Booker.  Will the two be able to coexist tonight though is the question.

Thank God Cena beat Teddy Hart.  I've just started to dislike him more and more.  It's not anything you're doing wrong with him.  I just don't find him particularly interesting in general as he's sort of a douchebag.

Good match with JBL/Roode.  I really like Roode for some reason, so I'm glad he was competitive, but JBL had to win this match, no question.

UW's MNM rules so hard.  That is all.

Good triple threat.  Siaki desperately needed that win for Major League to be relevant.

Poor OJ.  I have a thing for Orlando Jordan, and I don't know why.  But Edge needed to win this match.

Chavo's turn is complete!  That was a good way to do it with the Eddie tease and telling the fans to eat his ass.  This has been a very well done angle so kudos to you.

Great main event, and the HHH/Booker feud is going nicely, and I don't expect it to be settled after F'N Fury.
