in 0:06:44.

The Dojo (Genki Horiguchi and Naruki Doi) defeated Chris Cage and Brent Albright
when Doi pinned C. Cage with the Bakatare Sliding Kick in 0:13:17.

Comments:
Two independent, mid-south wrestlers (Stone & Boz) got their chance here in Michigan, facing off against CM Punk and Ken Kennedy respectively. Cage and Albright did good as well, stretching the Dojo to their limits in a very entertaining match.

WWC Smackdown

Merciless vs Nunzio

The destructive killing machine known as Merciless debuted in WWC at the Royal Rumble under the name of Chris the Bambikiller. Now, with his new moniker and membership in MNM, the Bavarian Butcher looks ready to make a name for himself here in the US.

Merciless wanted to send out a message for MNM's greatest enemy, CM Punk, and completely decimated the Italian in this one. While Nunzio had brief periods where he tried to work over Merciless' arms, the big Austrian hit back, and he hit back hard. A backspin DDT sent Nunzio reeling, before Merciless brought him on the outside and draped him across a table. Merciless then made a running start from the apron, and crashed through with a legdrop. It was an easy task dragging Nunzio back into the ring for the cover.

Merciless defeated Nunzio via pinfall in 0:06:38.

Backstage
Elijah Burke and "Blonde Bombshell" Beth Phoenix are trying out some new flashy outfits, when Michael Cole pops by. He says he wants to talk with Burke in private. Burke is really confused, but walks along with Cole. Kid Kash then comes in and starts hitting on Beth, fishing for a date. Beth tells Kash that she only dates successful wrestlers, and if he can win his match later on, he just might have a chance. As Kash leaves, Burke returns, saying that Cole obviously changed his mind about telling him something, returning to his announcing position instead.

Super Crazy vs Kid Kash

Kid Kash had a really good incentive to win this match, a date with the lovely Beth! Kash hadn't fared very well so far in WWC, but to his credit, his opponents had mostly been among the upper echelon, RVD and Rey Mysterio to mention two examples. Super Crazy had just returned from a minor injury, and was someone Kash needed to prove his mettle against.

Kash sneak attacked Crazy as he was posing for the crowd, taking him down with a german suplex. Crazy broke up his momentum when he caught him unaware with a spinning leg lariat, following it up with a snap mare and a dropkick to the back of Kash's neck. The match went back and forth, until Crazy tossed Kash to the outside, but missed the follow-up baseball slide. Kash took advantage of this, slamming the Mexican's head into his own lawnmower. Kash picked up Crazy and suplexed him back first across the John Deere, sliding him into the ring for the pinfall and date with Beth!

Kid Kash defeated Super Crazy via pinfall in 0:09:35.

In ring
The Dojo enters the ring, accompanied with a guy dressed in suit (OVW's Robbie Dawber). Dawber introduces himself, and says he is the Dojo's translator. Dawber says that the Dojo didn't really want to win the handicap match last month, choosing instead to punish Orton for losing the match at Royal Rumble, costing their employer a lot of money. Yes, Dawber adds, the Dojo represents a very influential and powerful, Japan-based man who doesn't see to kindly on Rey Mysterio (and to an extent RVD and Batista), ruining his plans. Dawber says that he is currently too busy to take matters into his own hands, but that he has left things to the Dojo. Dawber then goes on to say that Rey Mysterio bases his success on his West Coast Pop, a move he has blatantly copied from Dragon Kid's Dragon Rana. Dawber says that not only has Rey copied it, he performs it sloppily as well. "Booyaka" plays, as the WWC World Heavyweight Champion comes down the aisle.

Rey says that he has used the WCP far longer than Dragon Kid's even wrestled, so he doesn't know what Dawber talks about. Still, if Dragon Kid wants to bring it on, Rey is more than happy to oblige. Rey challenges Dragon Kid to a Finisher's Match later on. Dawber accepts on behalf of the Dojo.

**We see a brief interlude of RVD walking backstage, when his phone calls again. It's most likely the same mystery man that has been calling lately. He apparently congratulates RVD on his non-title win against Rey at a live event last month. RVD says he's pretty confident at defeating Rey at the Saturday Night Main Event later on this month. RVD points out that it's going to happen fair and square though, and argues a little with the other person. Just before hanging up, it becomes evident that the mystery man will come visit WWC in two weeks time!**

Rob Van Dam vs Paul London

London and RVD shook hands before the match, making this a friendly contest between two of the most spectacular wrestlers in WWC. The comparison ends there, however, as RVD has a title shot against the world champion in just three weeks time, and Paul London is really getting nowhere with his current in-ring form.

This match was a breath-taking, gravity-defying match where both men pulled out their arsenal in an impressive fashion. London tried really hard to gain a clear upper hand against Van Dam, but the #1 contender was just too smart for London, rolling away or crotching London whenever he attempted a high-risk maneuver from the ropes. He finally caught hold of RVD at about the 6 minute mark, sending him crashing down on his knee with a Rock Bottom / backbreaker combo. A wave of "let's go London, RVD, let's go London, RVD" chant showed that both men were genuinely loved by the great fans.

Desperate time calls for desperate measures, as London resorted to a low blow in order for him to finally hit the Calling London. Unfortunately for London, RVD kicked out at 2 1/2. London got the crowd against him when he started to slap RVD around, totally disrespecting him. RVD fired back with a spin kick, before nailing him with a russian legsweep and the Rolling Thunder. RVD quickly leapt to the top, excecuting the Five Star Frog Splash with surgical precision to win the match. Despite his methods, London and RVD shook hands afterwards, and London told the fans that he couldn't understand how RVD would not win the big one at Saturday Night Main Event.

Rob Van Dam pinned Paul London with the Five Star Frog Splash in 0:10:20.

In ring
An injured Colt Cabana comes down to the ring, his arm in a sling. Cabana then calls out CM Punk. Cabana tells Punk he is very disappointed with him, and that he feels Punk cost them the titles at Royal Rumble, and was indirectly responsible for his injury. Cabana goes on to say that if Punk did this for a girl he really liked, he might forgive him. As it stands now, Punk sacrificed the match and Cabana's arm for a spider of a woman who didn't care the least about him. Cabana tells Punk to make up his mind about Melina... and about the Second City Saints.

All of a sudden, MNM's intro-music plays, and Melina, Nitro, Mercury and Merciless enters. Melina sends her troops down, while she watches gleefully as the Bavarian Butcher clobbers Cabana from behind, and then clotheslines Punk out of his boots. MNM drag Cabana out of the ring and takes him down with the Snapshot on the outside, as Merciless mercilessly (pun intended), busts Punk open with a vicious running kick. As the foursome retreat back, laughing at the Second City Saints, Punk slowly gets back up, grabbing a mic. "Merciless... you son-of-a-bitch Eurotrash... you and me.. Saturday Night Main Event!" Seems like we have another match for March 31.

Jamie Noble(c) vs William Regal for the WWC Strong-Style Championship

Last month, Regal shook Elijah Burke's hand in a show of respect for the young athlete's abilities. This seems to have sparked a new life in the veteran, as he challenged Jamie Noble for his Strong-Style Championship.

The two started trading punches and kicks at each other, trying to go for the KO stipulation which also may end a match for the Strong-Style title. Regal opened the wrestling part of the match when he gave Noble a butterfly suplex.
Noble took back control of the match with a thumb to the eye, continuing to target Regal's head with stiff kicks and knees to the head. Noble then decided to go for a shoulderblock challenge, and after a couple of stalemates, Regal outsmarted the Texan, hiptossing him to the mat. Regal positioned Noble for an abdominal stretch in the middle of the ring, and the ref went to check on Noble. Suddenly, we see Noble stick his hand down the back of Regal's pants! Noble then elbows his way out of the hold, and clocks Regal straight down to the canvas. The ref checks on Regal, and calls for the bell. Noble has won on a KO! We see Noble quickly dispose of something, handing it to Dusty Rhodes. A close-up of the item reveals that it was brass knuckles, stolen from the trunks of Regal!

Regal stared angrily at Noble, who had defeated him with his own weapon of choice.

Jamie Noble made William Regal submit to the Dragon Sleeper in 0:09:04.

Test vs Lashley

Royal Rumble rematch, as Test took on Lashley, this time with no dog-collar.

Several near falls to open up this match, as the two hosses tried to take each other down with something so easy as small packages and roll ups.
After this brief (but entertaining) display of technical prowess, they started beating each other, with the occasional powerslam just to shake up the ring. A couple of minutes into the match, Lashley caught a big boot from Test, spun him around and hoisted him up for the Dominator. Lashley didn't get to make the pin though, as Ken Kennedy brutally assaulted him, landing several forearms to Lashley's back. Test and Kennedy stomped away on Lashley, but when the two of them tried to lift him up into Kennedy's Green Bay Plunge, Lashley fought out, sending both men down with clothesline. Lashley then picked up Kennedy and sent him crashing down with the Dominator. Test scurried off to the back, witnessing in horror as Lashley delivered yet another Dominator to the unfortunate Kennedy.

Lashley defeated Test by disqualification in 0:04:27.

Interview
Josh Matthews interviewed Hart Foundation 2G, who said they were sick of being screwed by Melina, something they felt CM Punk could keep for himself. They said they deserved a rematch with a managers-banned-from-ringside clause. Shane McMahon interrupted, saying that he really didn't see how they were screwed by Melina last time, seeing as she was beneath the ring with Punk at the time they lost. However, Shane was going to give them the benefit of the doubt, and told them that they could earn another title shot over the next two Smackdowns. He didn't add any details though.

Dragon Kid vs Rey Mysterio in a non-title Finisher's Match

For the first time since wrestling midgets back in Mexico, Rey was to wrestle someone SMALLER than him. Would Rey be able to adapt his style, or would he fall to this exceptional Japanese in this Finisher's Match.

Taz explains that both finisher's are basically Dragon Rana's, that is, rana's where you automatically get a pinfall situation out of. Both men had several rana/headscissors in the course of the match, but it did NOT count as the finisher.

The match went off as a rocket, both men awing the crowd with lightning quick moves and counter-moves. Rey hit the sitdown faceslam, La Quesadore and dropping the dime. Rey forgot himself a moment, and went for the cover. Dragon Kid struck back when he played possum, luring Rey to go for the 619, but ducking at the last moment, nailing Rey with an Ace Crusher. Dragon Kid went high-risk for the dragon-rana, and while it looked like he had it, Rey braced himself, and instead planted the Kid with a powerbomb.

Both men were exhausted at this point, and got up at the same time. They started exchanging some weak blows, before Rey rebounded off the ropes and hit a dropkick to the knee. Rey then dropped the dime again, and went to the top for his own version of the Dragon Rana - the West Coast Pop to win this amazing display of aerial prowess!

Rey Misterio pinned Dragon Kid with the West Coast Pop in 0:14:21.
Rating: **** 1/4

After the match, Horiguchi and Doi ran in and attacked Rey from behind. Horgiuchi put him in the painful GH Lock, while Doi kicked him savagely in the gut. The fans went wild as RVD entered with a couple of chairs, swinging away at the Dojo. Dragon Kid and Doi scrambled out of the ring, while Horiguchi was trapped. Rey and RVD went for a con-chair-to, but Horiguchi ducked, causing Rey's chair to smash into RVD's, and then connect with his head. The Dojo fled the scene, as Rey helped RVD back to his feet. RVD was a little upset with Rey, but as the show came to a close, they celebrated together in the ring.

News & Rumors

* It seems as if Ken Kennedy bad luck is not over. He got injured just before WWE split, he got injured in TNA, and now it seems he's injured again. It's still not certain if he'll be taken off the screen right away, or if he will complete his rumored program with Lashley first.

* Brent Albright's career may be stopped short as he was severely injured at on OVW show recently. The preliminary test results shows that he needs neck surgery, and that he will be gone for almost a year.

* Michael Cole is said to be happy that he is involved in a storyline, but not so happy that it is a gay one.

* According to a source within WWC, Shane O'Mac and Paul Heyman are not sure how long the Strong-Style championship may be active, as they have realized that there are not many wrestlers that works the style they're looking for.

Nice show, Rey!

I love Dawber as the Dojo's translator. You seem to find great roles for the OVW guys so far. Even with Merciless, who I'm actually looking forward to seeing as a member (probably bodyguard) of MNM.

Wonder who the mystery man is... I have an idea, but I'll wait and see if I'm right.

Nice RVD/London match with London showing a more gritty and arrogant side to him, but still showing respect after the match.

Noble wins! Noble wins!

This RVD/Rey thing is slowly coming together, but I'm loving it... great show, again!!
rey619Posted on 06/05/06 at 21:22:13

Merciless (Chris the Bambikiller) is a monster... I haven't seen him in action more than once (actually on a Norwegian wrestling show), but Peter Abram has probably made him the most powerful wrestler since.. like ever.. top stats all around, hard to pin, doesn't submit.. hulks up.. you get the picture.

And in the short time he's been in WWC, he's actually accumulated a Heat of 9, which only RVD has managed with him..

On another note, I just ran the next Smackdown.. and lo and behold.. another friggin' TWO injuries.. and both are in my plans for the next SNME...  :P
MatteusPosted on 06/05/06 at 21:26:59

WOW!! The Heat on Merciless is impressive. In UW, the only two wrestlers to reach a 9 heat are Randy Orton and (somehow...) Sonny Siaki :P
rey619Posted on 06/05/06 at 21:58:53

Siaki has a 95 charisma... a tad high.. but then again, I never was very high on Siaki. Sometimes the TNM engine works in mysterious ways though, I've really struggled to get Rey Mysterio up to a decent level, and he has a pretty high charisma.
