New UW Singles Title - Reader Opinions?

MatteusPosted on 05/18/06 at 18:08:37

Hey guys, as most of you who read UW know, I'm looking to add a new singles title. I was just wondering what y'alls opinion was on what I'm going with.

The title will essentially be contested in matches with no countouts, no DQs, basically no boundaries and no limits. But it's not a hardcore title, as falls take place inside the ring and wrestlers can simply wrestle their style in the match even if that style is pure wrestling. I was thinking of going with one of the following names:

- UW X Title - Basically focusing on the fact that wrestling's X Divisions are "about no limits".

- UW X Style Title (aka UW XS Title) - Same as above, just a different name.

- UW Hybrid Wrestling Title (aka UW Hybrid Title) - Focuses on the idea of "hybrid wrestling" being "a style that combines all pre-existing styles creating a state-of-the-art sophisticated discipline consisting of every form of combat that goes down in the ring. Hybrid Wrestling is an intense and evolving combat sport in which competitors wrestle and fight without any boundaries such as disqualification or count out stoppage." (from wiki) ... it's something new and different, and I personally like it.

- UW No Limits Title - Pretty obvious... but I'm not sold on the name.

What do y'all think would fit nicely into UW? Just curious, thanks guys!

I'd say X Title.  It's simple and to the point.

I actually was thinking about UW No Limits Title before I scrolled down. So that would be my choice. But I think any of the title names would be good for what you're trying to do in your circuit.

I am intrigued to try and do the title as the "X Title", but I guess I'm having a hard time with the stigma associated with the X-Division as a high-flying, high-risk offense style of wrestling, which isn't really what I'm trying to promote. It's kind of silly, but imagine JBL, for example, with the UW X Title. Just kinda... feels wrongish. Is it just me?

I like the "No Limiits" name myself

Huge fan of the Hybrid Title.  I really think that is my favorite of the ones you listed.  I don't dislike any of the others, though, but, it's like you said- the X Title is associated with the high flying style, and if you don't want that, I would say go with something different.  It's up to  you, but I love the idea of the Hybrid title.  In fact, I may have to steal it for one of my offline feds.   ;D

Honestly, looking back on what I wrote for each, I think I'm a big fan of the Hybrid Title as well. I tried to convince myself of the other two and just couldn't get into it, but the Hybrid Title reinforces exactly what I want the title to be about without sounding too blah (my main problem with the No Limits Title). It's new, it's different, it fits. Thanks everyone for your suggestions, but in the end I think I'm gonna stick with my gut and go with the Hybrid Title. I'm doing this for my enjoyment first and foremost after all, but I appreciate y'alls thoughts. See you for Fury on Monday ;D! Oh and Branden, feel free to swipe the idea for any of your projects, on- or offline!

Yeah, that's a cool thing about here is that I don't think there are any ideas that are "off limits" to being borrowed.  Whatever makes our circuits better, right?

*promptly copyrights the Wildcard Match*
