PWL- Combat Evolved (5-22-06)

The Bizz 2.0Posted on 05/17/06 at 07:12:09

Triangle Match:
Havana Pitbulls vs Doug Williams/Nigel McGuinness vs Briscoe Bros.

Four of the six men in this match were just recently signed
by PWL (agents were sent to ROH show). These six men know
each other very well, as they are all ROH Alumnis and know
each other's moves. This match was lengthly due to reversals
and broken pins, but was definatly worth it in the end.
During the match, Doug Williams and Jay Briscoe were brawling
on the outside throughout the match, beating each other to
the ramp. As this was happening, Rocky Romero took advantage of
the situation, and took out Nigel McGunniess. This gave Ricky
Reyes a chance to finish the match off, and he slapped on
his deadly Dragon Sleeper on Mark Briscoe! Mark tried to wait
for anyone to save him, but just couldn't last and tapped out
18 seconds into the move.

The Havana Pitbulls (Ricky Reyes and Rocky Romero) defeated
Doug Williams and Nigel McGuinness and
The Briscoe Brothers (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe) when R. Reyes made
M. Briscoe submit to the Dragon Sleeper in 0:29:57.
Rating: **** 1/4

(Chris Harris no-showed):
Homicide vs James Storm

Homicide came here tonight ready to beat the crap out of the man
who made him a faucet of blood last week. But instead, got his already
busted up partner. James Storm was suffering from Konnan's attacks
last week, and was obviously in no condition to go into this fight.
Homicide, care-free, tossed Storm around like he was a jobbing rag-doll.
Homicide finally showed mercy, and ended the match with his Cop Killa.
After the match, Homicide grabbed a microphone.

Homicide pinned James Storm with the Cop Killa in 0:07:57.
Rating: ***
(Chris Harris no-showed.)

Homicide- "ˇChris Harris, usted pedazo de basura! Sé que usted me
evitó esta noche tan usted no obtuvo avergonzado. ˇBien a malo, porque
en Infiltrate & Destroy, es usted y mí en una áspero, las caídas
cuentan dondequiera igual!"

(Rougly Translates to- "Chris Harris you piece of trash!
I know that you avoided me tonight so you did not get ashamed tonight.
Well to bad, because at I&D, its you and me in a hardcore
falls count anywhere match!")
------------------------------------------------------

(Before this match starts, we see a clip from earlier today of Brock:
Lesnar and Masato Tanaka seperated by security exchanging words.
In this clip, Tanaka tells Lesnar that he sent someone out their
to steal the match from him, and he will find out who at I&D!
Lesnar then got a pissed look on his face, smiled and told
Tanaka he's got a little surprise for him tonight.)

Justin Credible vs Masato Tanaka

An ECW rematch here, filled with unsettled hate and fury. This was
a hardcore bloody brawl that had no organisation to it, and very
little technical high spots. Tanaka had spirits through this match,
kicking out of a "That's Incredible" AND a SuperKick. Tanaka's
spirit was crushed when interference made the fight 2 vs 1.
Now we know what Lesnar meant by he had a surprise... Mike Awesome
came through the crowd as the two wrestlers were brawling outside.
Awesome shoved Justin out of the way just to get to Tanaka and
Awesome Bomb him on the concrete floor! Tanaka was knocked out
after the heavy blow, and Awesome smiled with satisfaction as he looked
down at him.

Masato Tanaka defeated Justin Credible by disqualification in 0:11:54.
Rating: ***
[Mike Awesome interfered against Masato Tanaka.]

(TV Title Match):
AJ Styles (c) vs Shawn Michaels

HBK has been recovering from the screwdriver shot from Daniels a
few weeks back, and returns to a shot at glory. Styles went into
this match a bit nervous, knowing he is facing a legend and a great
all around wrestler. That anxiety did not show one bit during the
match as the two put on a great back and fourth match. Both men
kicked out of each other's finsh moves early in the match, and
wore each other out. Styles went to the top rope to try to take the
upperhand, and executed a cross body block, but HBK moved! HBK
recovered and got ready for the SCM. He stomps once, twice, three times,
four times and AJ Styles gets up. HBK tries to go in for the kill,
but he can't get his back foot off of the ground! We then
see Daniels holding on to HBK's feet for dear life. HBK wiggles free
and still tries to go in for the kill on a dazed Styles. Styles
had enough time to recover, reversed it with a backslide, and
picked up the win.
AJ Styles pinned Shawn Michaels after a backslide in 0:12:38.
Rating: *** 1/4
(AJ Styles retained the PWL Television Title.)
[Christopher Daniels interfered against Shawn Michaels.]
------------------------------------------------------

(IC Title Match):
Rob Van Dam (c) vs Dean Malenko

This match was anything but special, and just a crush performance
by Van Dam. RVD seems to be on a roll here, and is looking for an
opponent to face at I&D. After the match, he asked for the microphone.

Rob Van Dam pinned Dean Malenko with the Five Star Frog Splash in 0:10:43.
Rating: *** 1/4
(Rob Van Dam retained the PWL Intercontinental Title.)

He went on to say how he wasn't going to lose this title, just like
he didn't lose his ECW TV Title. RVD states that if anyone else wants
to hold the title, you will have to kill him to get it. Jerry Lynn
doesn't take to well to this and confronts RVD. He tells RVD that
he can, has, and will beat RVD. "There will be no question
that when you and I face off, the Intercontinental Title will change hands."
RVD takes this as a challenge, and offers him a title shot at
Infiltrate and Destory. Lynn chuckled and accepted without hesitating.
------------------------------------------------------

(Ric Flair's Pick Your Poison Match):
Ric Flair vs ???

Flair came down to the ring and awaited the arival of his mystery
opponent. When Brock Lesnar's music hit, Flair turned pale.
Lesnar has been looking for someone to take out his fury on,
and Flair is the man he's going to do it to. Flair tried to
cheat his way out of this match, (eye-poking, low-blows,
chair-shots), but nothing was stopping Lesnar. Lesnar set Flair
up for the F-5 and nailed it. Lesnar finally pinned Flair and
ended the slaughter.

Brock Lesnar pinned Ric Flair with the F-5 in 0:13:34.
Rating: ** 1/2

(After this commercial, we will see who Ric Flair picked to rip
Carlito into shreads in his choice of the "Pick Your Poison
Mystery Wrestler".)

(Infiltrate & Destory... 6 days away!)
------------------------------------------------------

(Carlito's Pick Your Poison Match):
Carlito vs ???

Carlito cut a promo before the match started saying how he will
beat anyone Flair puts in front of him tonight. We were then joined
by Flair on the big screen who was visibally hurt. He informs Carlito
his opponent is on his way to the curtain right now. But before
he gets out there, he tells Carlito he gets 2 hints. (1.) They were
almost tag team champions, and (2.) no one has escaped his submission
move! (Masters' music hits and Carlito is appauled and is obviously
scared to death). The two faced off and the bell rang. Masters dominated
Carlito, showing he doesn't care about the ruled. Masters gored
Carlito to the ground, (showing relentlessness) and started choking
Carlito! He almost got DQ'd 3 times, and finally let Carlito to his
feet. Masters slapped on a fisherman suplex, 1...2...3!

Chris Masters pinned Carlito after a fisherman suplex in 0:00:40.
Rating: *

The #1 Contender has just been beat in 40 seconds by Chris Masters!
When Carlito gets up from the pin, he smiles and laughs. He shakes
his head in disguist, and asks for a microphone.
Carlito-"I, I can't believe that Chris Masters just beat Carlito
in 40 seconds. How do I look like going into this world title match?
(PAUSES) Like a damn genius. You see, while Flair was fighting the
good fight, and trying to fight to the finish, Carlito just laid
down and avoided all injuries that Masters could've given to me.
(Crowd Boos) I don't care what you people think. Because now
I'm going into I&D 100%, and I'm facing a man who just got the
crap beat out of him no more than 5 minutes ago. You kind of
have to admit guys, that... was pretty cool. (He then gave
us a cocky smile and laughed his way to the back.)

(Main Event):
(Tag Team Title Rematch)
Bryan Danielson & William Regal (c)
vs
Christopher Daniels & Low-Ki

Last week The Gathering was screwed out of being champions
when Michaels helped Danielson and Regal win the match due
to submission. You have to question Daniels' mindset going into
this match with Shawn Michaels trying to interfere again tonight.
Regal and Danielson started the match off and Daniels dominated.
Daniels and Ki were taking turns beating the British Veteran.
Regal got off a cheap low blow to slow the pace down a bit.
Regal tried to dive for a desperate much needed tag to Danielson,
and reached him! Danielson was cleaning house and tossed both members
of the Gathering out of the ring! The crowd was showing their support
for the rookie throughout the match. Daniels was raged by this,
and attacked Bryan Danielson behind his back as he was facing the
crowd. Daniels executed his BME, and went for the pin! 1...2...
kickout! Daniels couldn't believe it, and knew it was time
for desperate attacks. He NAILED Danielson with a hard (blind) low-blow
with the knee, and went for the Raven's Effect. Daniels hooked
his head, pointed to the camera and yelled "This is for you Shawn!".
Danielson quickly recovered and reversed it with a Northern Lights
Suplex and went for the pin! 1...2...3!!! Ki was too late for the
save, and they lost their chance to regain the titles.

Bryan Danielson and William Regal defeated Christopher Daniels and Low Ki when
B. Danielson pinned C. Daniels after a Northern Lights suplex in 0:10:46.
Rating: ****
(Bryan Danielson and William Regal retained the PWL Tag Team Titles.)

After the match, The Gathering went face to face in the middle of
the ring. Ki had a microphone and told us that there is a problem
with the team right now. The two start yelling at each other
and shoves were exchanged. Ki continued to say he knows what
the real problem is... HBK Shawn Michaels. Daniels calmed
down, and dawned an evil smile and shook his head in agreement.
Ki went on to explain himself, saying how HBK has been distracting
Daniels for weeks now. He let it slide, but when he caused them to
lost the titles last week, that was the last straw. So at I&D,
The Gathering will fight Shawn Michaels, whether he is drawn or
not for the TV Title Three Way Dance. The Gathering walk out of the
ring together, and the screen fades.

Wow your tag division just got even stronger, not that it really needed the help. Now let's see what you can do with it. Good win for the Pitbulls... here's to hoping you reunite the Rottweilers with your roster as it is.

Ouch, Homicide rocked James Storm. Doesn't make AMW look too good there, but the Homicide/Harris should be good at I&D.

Awesome/Tanaka/Lesnar... oo, this is gonna be bruutal :)

Hmmm... not sure ho I feel about HBK in a TV title match, let alone jobbing in this spot. This maybe could have been used to give another wrestler screen time, IMO. BUT it furthers the HBK/Gathering feud and the match was good.

RVD crushing Malenko? Meh. RVD/Lynn at I&D? Yee haw!

Flair's acting reall really heelish... he's a face though, right? Lesnar's the man, big time. Wish he had the big gold belt... but Flair jobbing yet again is kinda disturbing. I'm sure he'll win at I&D though. Smaaart move by Carlito!! I like that a lot, and Masters winning is pretty great too :)

Great main event, good to see you elevating the tag titles. Danielson and Regal are pretty good together, and the finish was great. Discention in the ranks for The Gathering... ouch. Handicap match at I&D will be rough, especially if he's drawn for the TV Title match, which I hope he's not.
