UW Fury (5/15/06)

UW Fury (May 15, 2006)

"Do The Evolution" by Pearl Jam plays with our video intro for Fury and the pyro goes crazy-go-nuts in the arena! We're coming at you from Charlotte, North Carolina and we're less than two weeks away from F'N Fury! Triple H is going to make his first title defense tonight as he meets one half of the tag team champions, Johnny Nitro! Two more men will qualify for the Kingdom Come tournament, as well. Sean O'Haire will face Damaja in the first qualifying match, and "The Machine" Doug Basham will try to qualify as well. He'll have his hands full, though, as he goes toe-to-toe with "The Alpha Male" Monty Brown! But after last week, you have to think Austin Aries and the rest of Gen Next will be looking for a measure of revenge tonight. Also, in a preview of next week's Kingdom Come Qualifying matches, John Cena and Orlando Jordan will face Edge and Teddy Hart in tag team action. Let's get right into it!

Out came the red carpet and the UW World Tag Team champions, MNM, strutted down toward the ring. After Melina's... outstanding entrance, Joey Mercury grabbed the mic and introduced everyone to the next UW World champion, Johnny Nitro! Nitro was cocky as ever as he ran down Triple H, saying that ever since Matteus instituted a new drug policy, Hunter's been getting a little pudgy. Meanwhile, Nitro is more cut than Michelangelo's David and MNM is packing more gold than The Game. MNM is going to add to their extensive resume tonight, and after Nitro defeats Booker T at F'N Fury, Johnny will make sure that Joey Mercury is next in line to get a title shot. Melina told Limited Edition not to think MNM is looking past them. Even if Johnny has to pull double duty at F'N Fury, there is no way an athlete of his conditioning is going to lose to Nick Duncemore and Job Conway. Mercury seconded that thought, and both Melina and he held up Johnny Nitro's arms as MNM held up the tag title belts.

Paul London and Brian Kendrick vs. Generation Next (Shelley and Helms)

The future of wrestling was on display to start the show tonight, and two top names in our tag division went at it to the fans delight. While there wasn't much bad blood between these teams, all four men started the match out trading off with double-team high spots, a contest which was eventually won by London and Kendrick. Kendrick whipped Shelley into the ropes and hit him with a spinning leg lariat, following up with a springboard legdrop for two. London and Kendrick took Shelley back to the basics with some tandem Rockers-style offense and London hit a spinning elbow for two and a half. Shelley was eventually able to take control and tag in Helms, who took the boots to London and hit a vicious tilt-a-whirl backbreaker which London sold big-time. Helms locked him in a side headlock and wore him down before he broke the hold and started choking London. Helms and Shelley kept London cornered until he ducked a double clothesline and hit Gen Next with a cross bodyblock! London made the hot tag and started slugging away at Helms and Shelley, dropkicking both men and clotheslining Shelley out of the ring. But Helms tossed Kendrick out of the ring and ran over to a still-weakened London, hitting him with a forearm smash and covering him to get the pinfall victory for Gen Next.

Generation Next (Alex Shelley and Gregory Shane Helms) defeated
Paul London and Brian Kendrick when Helms pinned P. London after a forearm smash
in 9:49.
Rating: ** 3/4

A good tag team victory for the self-professed future of wrestling, as they pull what could potentially be considered an upset against the more experienced tag team of London and Kendrick. It's been announced that at F'N Fury, we'll see a big tag team triple threat match as these two teams step into the ring with Major League! This one will definitely have big-time implications on the tag team rankings despite the fact that this has not officially been named a Top Contenders Match.

Backstage, Josh Mathews interviewed John Cena and Orlando Jordan. Next week, they will face Teddy Hart and Edge, respectively, in Kingdom Come qualifying matches. Cena says there's nothing "respective" about Hart and Edge. Hart's a two-bit punk who's whined his way into the spotlight when he's no more than a semi-psychotic bitch. Next Monday, he'll get the ass kicking that's coming to him. OJ grabbed the mic and did The Rock's "Finally..." shtick to a surprisingly big pop from the crowd. Jordan said that last week he finally defeated JBL and can put that part of his history behind him. The former North American champion JBL made a nice addition to his list of high-profile victories, but next week he'll add another name to the list and qualify for Kingdom Come when he defeats Edge. Edge and Hart interrupted them at this point and asked if they saw what happened to Team Canada two weeks ago. There'll be a sequel tonight as well as next week. This week Cena and Ho-Jo get softened up, and next week it'll be divide and conquer. Either Hart or Edge will be the king this year, but if the fans here are lucky, they'll do an encore Conchairto in that ring later tonight.

Kingdom Come Qualifying Match:
Damaja vs. Sean O'Haire

Damaja has not been faring so well in UW competition in recent weeks, but he definitely saw the opportunity in front of him when he stepped into the ring against O'Haire. Winning the Kingdom Come tournament would be a huge push for a wrestler who is down on his luck and would certainly propel him to better things, and Damaja certainly had this in mind when he started the match by wailing away at Sean O'Haire. Damaja controlled the early portion of the match, keeping O'Haire at bay with rest holds, but when O'Haire finally broke free he did so in a huge way, lifting Damaja up while he was in a chinlock and throwing him over his shoulder to the canvas! He started choking Damaja, asking him how it felt before finally releasing the hold and picking up his opponent. O'Haire threw him to the corner and leveled him with a clothesline and followed up with a spinebuster for two and a half. O'Hiare continued his assault on Damaja until he was caught off guard and Damaja was able to hit him with a flying clothesline before using a backbreaker on him and stretching him out across his knee. Damaja was on his game tonight, and he continued on by hammering O'Haire with elbows and forearms to the back. He went for the Brain Damage, but O'Haire powered out and started slugging Damaja, sending him into the ropes and missing with a clothesline. On the rebound though, he hit a spinning heel kick out of nowhere and covered Damaja as the ref counted the pinfall!

Sean O'Haire pinned Damaja after a spinning heel kick in 15:15
Rating: **

Sean O'Haire has qualified for Kingdom Come, but his concern is far from the tournament right now, as he was looking to send a message to North American champion Shelton Benjamin for when they meet at F'N Fury. He continued beating on Damaja after the match was over, hitting him with the Prophecy and setting up for another when "What Up Gangsta" by 50 Cent hit the speakers and out came Shelton Benjamin! He raced to the ring and started slugging it out with O'Haire, sending him into the ropes and hitting him with a huge clothesline and a dropkick before Sean slid out of the ring. Benjamin had a fire in his eyes, and despite getting the worse of that exchange, Sean O'Haire still had a look of devilish confidence in his eyes. What is with this guy? Benjamin tempted O'Haire to come back in, but before he could even respond, the UW Squad came down to get between these two. This situation is getting more and more volatile as we draw closer to F'N Fury.

Chavo Guerrero was shown in a pre-taped interview segment from his home in El Paso, Texas. He said that he's come to his senses after exploding at the fans last week and generally not being himself in and out of the ring over the past several weeks. He specifically apologized for last week's outburst where he screamed at the fans after his loss to Gregory Shane Helms. But he's going to make it right for himself and for the Guerrero family legacy, and he's going to do it next week, when he defeats the man who set him on this losing path a month ago, "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton! He promised Orton that there is one legend that simply won't die, and next week he'll come face to face with it.

Limited Edition vs. Major League

Limited Edition have seemed somewhat desperate since losing their tag team titles to MNM at No Justice last month. It's almost as if holding the titles for such a brief time has only intensified their hunger for the gold! The duo was impressive tonight as they went at it with Major League, who despite getting better and better in recent weeks, have yet to pick up a tag team victory. Dinsmore controlled Richards in the early goings, as "Superstar" was decimated last week by North American champion Shelton Benjamin. He tagged to Conway and they double-teamed Richards legally before Rob took over, holding Richards above him in a supelx for about twenty seconds before dropping him on his back. He dropped an elbow from the second rope and scooped him up before slamming him to the mat with a powerslam which got two. Richards caught him with a few punches before tagging to Sonny Siaki, but Siaki didn't fare much better, eventually being flapjacked and hit with a flying fistdrop. Conway tagged Dinsmore back in and Dinsmore hit him with the German suplex but instead of going for the pin, hooked a sleeperhold! With Conway holding Richards at bay, Siaki quickly fell unconscious.

Limited Edition (Nick Dinsmore and Rob Conway) defeated
Major League (Sonny Siaki and Steven Richards) when R. Conway made S. Richards
pass out to a sleeperhold in 8:13.
Rating: *** 1/4

Limited Edition were out to send a message tonight, knocking out Sonny Siaki and manhandling Major League. If they can do this May 26th, they'll be two-time UW World Tag Team champions. If not, they will not get another shot at those belts until MNM loses the straps. They looked quite good tonight, but will that be enough?

A video montage of the Generation Next-Monty Brown feud was shown, covering Helms' ducking The Alpha Male by sending Alex Shelley and, more recently Austin Aries after Brown. Shelley lost to Monty at No Justice, but he repaid the favor by pinning him in a six-man tag two weeks ago which ended up being a 3-on-1 beat down of The Alpha Male. Brown got revenge last week when Aries, who carried a cardboard cut-out of The Alpha Male to the ring, lost to John Cena and Brown destroyed Aries with the Pounce afterwards.

"Down With the Sickness" by Disturbed played and out came Monty Brown for the next match, carrying a cardboard cut-out of Austin Aries much like the one Aries had carried out last week of The Alpha Male. Brown left it outside the ring as he stepped in the ring where The Machine was already waiting. Basham ran toward Brown and kneed him right in the face! The ref rang the bell and we're off!

Kingdom Come Qualifying Match:
"The Alpha Male" Monty Brown vs. "The Machine" Doug Basham

Basham took control early, obviously and pounded away at Brown outside the ring. He tossed The Alpha Male back and forth between the ring steps and barricade, breaking the referee's count before ten and going back to work. When he finally tossed Brown back in, it looked like it was all over. Basham hit Brown with a backbreaker and followed with an elbowdrop from the second rope, but Monty kicked out at two and a half! Basham stomped away at him before going for a suplex and then scaling to the top rope. It looked like he was going to go for a top-rope legdrop, but before he even got a chance, The Alpha Male grabbed him and threw him down to the mat! Basham was toast from here, as Brown clotheslined him and hit him with a gorilla press before going outside and grabbing the cardboard cut-out of Aries. He brought it in and set it up in the corner... what in the world is he doing? He tossed Basham into the ropes and ran into him with the Pounce! The impact sent The Machine into the corner with such velocity that he broke the cardboard cut out in half! Brown covered him for the pinfall victory.

Monty Brown pinned Doug Basham with the Pounce in 6:08.
Rating: ** 1/4

What a message that was just sent by Monty Brown! The Alpha Male is hitting on all cylinders going into F'N Fury in a couple weeks, and he's qualified for Kingdom Come to boot! It's going to be difficult for Austin Aries to derail Monty when they go one-on-one, but with Generation Next in Aries' corner, it's never really a singles match.

Updated Kingdom Come tournament pairings:
- Shelton Benjamin vs. Gregory Shane Helms
- [TBD May 28th] vs. Sean O'Haire
- "The Alpha Male" Monty Brown vs. JBL/Petey Williams
- Cena/Hart vs. OJ/Edge

Backstage, Josh Mathews interviewed John Bradshaw Layfield. JBL was humiliated last week when he was beaten by Orlando Jordan. He said the name again to emphasize how disgusted he was with taking the pinfall last week. It wouldn't have happened if it weren't for John Cena's verbal interference, and JBL promised that he's not a man who forgets. If you owe JBL, Layfield collects... with interest. OJ and more importantly John Cena will pay for their transgressions against the Wrestling God soon enough. JBL wringed his hands and laughed menacingly as we went to commercial.

John Cena and Orlando Jordan vs. "The Rated R Superstar" Edge and "X-Rated" Teddy Hart

Cena started out the match with Edge and dominated him with his brutal physical style, hitting him with shoulderblocks and tossing him into the corner and hitting a clothesline. He slammed Edge and hit him with the Five Knuckle Shuffle early for two when Teddy made the save. Edge took over when he finally got a side headlock on Cena and when Cena tried to turn it into a side suplex, Edge kicked backwards and hit him below the belt. He punched away at Cena and dragged him to the corner where he tagged to Teddy Hart. Hart was able to keep Cena down long enough to hit a moonsault for two and a half, and eventually he went for the Sharpshooter and locked it in tight. Cena screamed in pain but gradually made his way to the ropes, but Teddy dragged him back and tagged to Edge again and the two tried a double clothesline, but Cena ducked and kicked Edge in the gut before waving his hand in front of his face and slamming Teddy before finally tagging to OJ. Jordan was a house of fire on Edge and Teddy, but Cena came in and the two nailed Hart with a double shoulderblock and elbow. Jordan suplexed Hart and covered for two. He missed a back elbow and Hart managed to hit him with a spinning leg lariat, but before he could make the cover, Petey Williams came out and started taunting Teddy! Hart was infuriated with his former partner and went running after him, chasing him to the back. The referee counted to ten and awarded the match to Cena and OJ!

John Cena and Orlando Jordan defeated Edge and Teddy Hart when J. Cena defeated T. Hart by countout in 9:32.
Rating: ** 1/4

After the match, Edge was left alone in the ring with Cena and Jordan, and thinking twice about this situation, he decided to conserve his energy for next week when he faces OJ one-on-one. He rushed out of the ring and walked backwards up the ramp, when suddenly the Canadian Anthem played and Bobby Roode and Eric Young came out from the entrance and attacked Edge! We haven't seen them since they were attacked by Edge and Hart two weeks ago! They took turns pounding away at Edge before they tossed him back into the ring to a waiting Orlando Jordan! OJ hit Edge with the Black Ice and John Cena raised his arm, as both joked around with one another that one of them would be king come Kingdom Come as we went to commercial...

After the break, all three members of Team Canada were in Matteus' office and they demanded revenge against Edge and Teddy Hart for what they did two weeks ago. Petey commented that he needed stitches for the shot he took with Teddy's X-Cam and Matteus conceded, saying that at F'N Fury Teddy Hart and Edge would step into the ring to face Team Canada's Bobby Roode and Eric Young!

UW World Title Match:
"The Game" Triple H (c) vs. Johnny Nitro (w/ Melina)

Triple H controlled the opening of the match against a less experienced tag team specialist, Nitro. He focused his attack on the neck with neckbreakers and chinlocks, wearing down Johnny before finally trying to hit a Pedigree. Nitro was able to get to the outside and escape before Trips could hit the move, but Hunter followed him out and delivered even more of a beating. Tossed him back inside and made the cover, but only got a two count. Punished him more, but Melina finally distracted Triple H long enough for Nitro to clip Trips from behind his bad knee. He worked on the knee ferociously, eventually locking in a reverse Indian deathlock, a move used previously by Hunter in WCW as Terra Ryzing. Trips was in agony, and tried to grab the ropes, but Melina kept pulling them away from him while the ref was distracted. The ref finally caught them and the move was broken, but the damage was done and Johnny continued the assault on the World champ. Triple H stopped his momentum dead when he caught Nitro in a spinebuster, but he was unable to make the cover. When the two got back up, Hunter hit him with a facebuster on his knee and a clothesline to knock him down. He covered but Melina broke the count by tugging on the referee's pant leg. Both the ref and Triple H went toward Melina, but from behind Nitro's tag team partner Joey Mercury came in and blasted Triple H with the tag team title belt! Melina dropped from the apron and Mercury scurried out of the ring, as Nitro slowly came to his senses and crawled over to Hunter. He made the cover: one... two... kickout! Triple H kicked out! Mercury and Melina couldn't believe it! Both Nitro and Hunter were out of it, and made it to their feet at the same time. Nitro went to punch Trips, but it was blocked and Triple H started blasting away at him. He tossed him against the ropes, and when he came back, he tossed Nitro over the ropes crashing into Joey Mercury! The ref had finally had enough, as he went to send Mercury to the back! He left the ring, and Nitro tried to plead with him not to do so. As he did this, Melina lid into the ring and tried to low blow the World champion but he caught her and set her up for a Pedigree! MNM saw this at ringside and shoved the ref to the arena floor, storming the ring and attacking Triple H! When the ref came to, he called for the bell.

Triple H defeated Johnny Nitro by disqualification in 21:09.
Rating: ***
(Triple H retained the UW World Title.)
[Melina and Joey Mercury interfered against Triple H.]

MNM continued the beat down after the bell rang, picking up Triple H and setting him up for the Snapshot. With Melina yelling orders, they nailed the champ with their finisher! Melina yelled for one more, and they picked him up once again, but before they could hit him with another one, Booker T rushed toward the ring wearing street clothes with a chair in-hand! MNM dropped Hunter and ran from the ring as Booker slid in. Booker slammed the chair against the ropes and dared the tag champs to get in the ring, but they would have none of that. They laughed from a distance as Booker stared them down with an irate glare. Triple H retains, but he's none the worse for wear after the attack he's just received...

Snabbit888Posted on 05/16/06 at 02:16:44

MNM rule so hard.  So so hard.

Booo to Kendrick and London losing.  Still not completely sold on Gen Next, but the triple threat at F'N Fury should be good.

OJ is a thief!  A thief I say!

Sean O'Haire qualifies for Kingdom Come, and gets into a nice fat fight with Shelton Benjamin.  Don't think O'Haire will win either, but he's going to give a good showing.

Oooh... Chavo teases going back face, which means you know he's going to go more insane next week when he loses to Orton. :)

Though Limited Edition needed to win to establish some momentum going into their title shot, I think the way they manhandled Major League killed a lot of Richards' and Siaki's momentum they had been building.  They looked downright bush league here.

Well, not a good night for the brothers Basham.  And quite the statement from the Alpha Male.  He may kill Aries.

Stupid countouts!  Hehe.  I predict Edge beats OJ and Cena beats Hart next week.

Great main event, and nice touch with Booker saving Trips.  You've booked MNM extremely well, and I was highly entertained by this match.  Great way to end the show, and F'N Fury is shaping up to be a huge night.
MatteusPosted on 05/16/06 at 02:31:13

Don't worry much about Major League's loss. They have some goodness on the not-too-distant horizen.

PS to all who've been reading UW: I'm toying with the idea of bringing in a tertiary title, most likely a Television title. I was toying with the idea of a Cruiserweight strap, but seeing as it's "Unlimited" Wrestling, a weight limit would be silly. Another alternative is an X-Division style or Pure style belt. Any thoughts/suggestions?
Snabbit888Posted on 05/16/06 at 02:34:11

I'd say an X Title.  I like TV Titles, but truthfully, they seem a little outdated in today's current style of wrestling.  X Title lets you do essentially the same thing, but it appears sexier.
JustinPosted on 05/16/06 at 02:36:25

Can't wait to watch Chavo go even further off the deep end. Could Kerwin White be taking his place soon since he can't cut it as a Guerrero anymore?

Just a great all around show... I would run out of room if I said something for each match.

An X-Division, Pure, or Hardcore type title would be good. You could even go with a Euro title since you've got a NA already. TV titles are done to death (I know I have one):)
MatteusPosted on 05/16/06 at 02:46:23

Hey Ryan, quick brainstorming session for your boys: I need help with theme music for MNM. Any thoughts?
Snabbit888Posted on 05/16/06 at 03:13:02

I like their WWE music, personally.

Might I suggest the instrumental version of "Got Some Teeth" by Obie Trice if you want a real song?  The lyrics to the song are a little off for them, but it has a really cool sound, IMO.  It's the "Compton Ass erry" theme song from Viva La Bam.
JustinPosted on 05/16/06 at 03:26:02

How about "15 Minutes of Fame" by Damn Yankees (alittle older I know) or "Hating Hollywood" by Theory Of A Deadman
The Bizz 2.0Posted on 05/16/06 at 04:55:06

Compton Ass Terry is the man!!!
MatteusPosted on 05/16/06 at 05:14:42

Wooooow "Got Some Teeth" is my bar song!!! LoL! But no... not for MNM. I'll check into the other songs, thanks Justin. Maybe I'll stick with their WWE theme, but I'll see.
HugeRockStar760Posted on 05/16/06 at 06:54:10

A competent tag team division with some thought? If only you were a booker for the RAW brand.

MNM rules so much. They can be the cornerstone of any tag team division.

And raise your hand if you thought Booker T was going to hit Triple H with that chair? [Raises hand]

And any chance you'll get Oliver to create a forum for you? Call me lazy, but I don't feel like going through all the posts in the TNM forum for UW.
rey619Posted on 05/16/06 at 09:03:25

MNM rule so hard, great to see them open the show with an in-ring promo.

Kendrick and London are featured on a lot of circuits around here, too bad for them they lose more than they win, but Generation Next needed the win to gain confidence in their continuing feud with Gen Next. Forearm smash? Weak finish man..  :P

OJ imitating the Rock? It's good to see new talent in the spotlight, but I can't really envision OJ having the charisma necessary to pull off a Rock.

I really don't like Basham or Brown, but Pouncing poor Doug through the Aries cardboard was funny stuff.

If you say "king come Kingdom come" fast many times, it almost sunds as King Kong kingdom ;D

I really don't know who'll win King Kong... kingdom come.. I'll put my money on Cena... I think.

Triple survives one-half of the tag champs even though he has the odds stacked against him. Good job making Trips stronger, MNM is a hell of a tag-team, but I really doubt one or both of them can break out big-time as a single star.

Good show.

Okay, you're lazy. *rimshot followed by crickets*

Thanks for the comments, HugeRockStar. I just recently requested a forum topic for UW, but I'm unsure if and when that will occur. You can actually check out UW's website that's linked to my profile. It has all the past results and title histories and the lot. Enjoy!

Rey: Yeah, the forearm smash was a weak finish, but I try not to edit my results, so that's the hand I weas dealt. King Kong Kingdom... hehe.

And I've made my decision on the new singles title. I'll probably say more about it next week or the week after, but I think y'all will enjoy it.

-chyeah chyeah more Generation Next winning! I hope they dominate
at the 3 way dance at F'N Fury...

-Nothing corny from Cena? Good segment though, Jordan is
growing on me with his "Finally" imitation thing. Great
segment, I'm really pushing for Jordan/Edge :-)

-Ur doin a good job with the O'Haire character. This is
another match I wanna see... damn you for making me wait...

-The Alpha Male is ready to rip Aries apart, he has such
rage he made another man rip cardboard in half... oh
the rage... oh the fury... lol. just kidding bro,
ur promoting all the matches in ur card very well.
i'm looking forward to all of them equally.

-Scary JBL... I wonder what will happen...

-I like MNM in the main event picture, but as
a tag team like they have been in the Real Life WWE.

I guess I was able to catch Oliver on email when he was not busy. He really needs to allow another user, like Ryan or someone that goes to this website consistently to have admin rights to create circuit forums, and who will not abuse their power and start banning people left and right.

But I will check out the website in the meantime.
