PWL- Combat Evolved (5-15-2006)

The Bizz 2.0Posted on 05/13/06 at 20:11:02

Joey Styles- Hello everybody and welcome to Combat Evolved, coming at you
Live in New York's Madision Square Garden! I am, of course, Joey Styles.
And with me tonight, making his colour commentator return, Vince McMahon.

Vince McMahon- Thank you for having me back Joey. Last week as the show
went off the air, we saw an agreement made, where Flair will face Carlito
at I&D for the World Title, inside a 20 foot high steel cage! After the
agreement was made, Flair gave Carlito a beating he couldn't forget.
(FOOTAGE SHOWS WHERE FLAIR SMACKED CARLITO W/ THE BELT, AND PUT ON THE
FIGURE 4) Carlito is reportidly at home tonight, resting his injuries
for the World Title Match.

Joey Styles- After weeks of impressive victories and powerhousing through
opponents, Brock Lesnar will take on Rob Van Dam in an Intercontinental
Title Match. Lesnar better keep his eyes peeled open for Masato Tanaka.

Vince McMahon- Those matches and many more to come on MONDAY NIGHT RAW! WHO WILL SURVIVE!

Joey Styles- He was doing so well too. This is Combat Evolved Vince.
And let's watch to see who will survive...
-------

AMW vs ???
AMW came down to the ring and cut a promo before their mystery partners
came out. They tell us that New York isn't all that it's hyped up to be.
As they walked around NY, all they saw were pathetic, poo. people. "Fat, hot-dog
consuming idiots chasing around for taxi's or hookers. Car's blasting
rap crap. You can't spell crap, without rap". They told their mystery
opponents to come out, and out came the Latin Exchange (Konnan & Homicide).
The four just start brawling. Around the end of the match, James Storm and
Konnan were the illegal men, and knocked each other out after a double clothesline,
leaving it just a 1vs1 match. Harris ran in circles, terrified, as Homicide
was chasing him around the ring. Harris grabbed hold of the referee, and
told him he thinks Homicide has a blade on him. The referee now HAS to check
Homicide. As the referee is patting Homicide's leg, Harris runs up with a
closed fist and busted Homicide WIDE open! Homicide, writhing in pain, struggles
to see where Harris is. Harris executes the Death Sentence for the win.

America's Most Wanted (James Storm and Chris Harris) defeated
Konnan and Homicide when C. Harris pinned Homicide after the Death Sentence in
          0:18:06.

(Television Title Match):
AJ Styles (c) vs Chris Masters

On one side, we have a fast paced, acrobatic daredevil. On the other,
a chizzled, powerhouse masterpiece. Two completely different styles
go face to face tonight in a TV Title Match. Masters has yet to
grab singles gold in a major promotion, but tonight might be his
night. The bell rings and the two stare each other down in the
middle of the ring. Masters picks him up for a quick powerslam,
but AJ Styles reverses it into a small package... 1...2...3!!!
AJ Styles with the huge upset win over Masters in 23 seconds.
Will Masters be drawn for a rematch at Infiltrate & Destroy?

(no special match name)
AJ Styles pinned Chris Masters after a small package in 0:00:23.
Rating: *
(AJ Styles retained the PWL Television Title.)

(Tag Team Title Match):
The Gathering (Daniels/Ki w/o Raven) vs Bryan Danielson/William Regal

This is a technical wrestling fan's dream match. Danielson & Regal,
making such an impressive debut last week, that Paul Heyman
and Shane McMahon gave them a chance to show PWL what they've got. Daniels
is coming off of a tough win last week against Michaels. But once
again, the help of Raven guided Daniels to another win. Tonight,
Raven is not here to help Gathering cheat to win, what will happen
tonight? The match will start after a quick commercial break!

INFILTRATE & DESTROY- MAY 28TH!!!

Daniels and Danielson face off for the majority of the match,
Daniels having the upperhand. Low-Ki wanted a tag in the
whole match, but Daniels assured Low-Ki he had it under control.
As Daniels is telling this to Ki, Bryan makes a quick tag to Regal,
and Regal starts cleaning house! Regal knocks Ki off the apron,
and executes a Russian Leg Sweep on Daniels. He then follows up
with the REGAL STRETCH! Daniels is about a foot away from the
rope, and the rope is somehow, pulling away farther and farther
evrytime Daniels reaches for it! The camera angle switches and
we see Michaels pulling the rope so Daniels can't escape! Daniels
is struggling to reach the magicly moving rope, and can't take it
anymore. He taps out, making Danielson and Regal the new PWL
Tag Team Champions!

(no special match name)
Bryan Danielson and William Regal defeated Christopher Daniels and Low Ki when
W. Regal made C. Daniels submit to the Regal Stretch in 0:14:15.
Rating: ***
(Bryan Danielson and William Regal won the PWL Tag Team Titles.)
[Shawn Michaels interfered against Christopher Daniels.]

Paul Heyman (50% owner of PWL) walks down to the ring and before
Lillian Garcia can announce Danielson/Regal new tag champs, he cuts
her off and tells everyone to listen. The only reason why Daniels
submitted from the Regal Stretch is because Shawn Michaels pulled
the ropes away from Daniels, causing them to lose the match and
their titles. He then continues and says, according to himself,
The Gathering is still the tag team champions. But he can't change
that. So next week, there will be a Tag Team Title Rematch. Danielson
and Regal will defend their titles against The Gathering next week.
--------------------------------------------------

Interview:
We see Tanaka walk into the bosses office. Heyman motions Tanaka
over to Shane McMahon (the other 50% owner). Shane McMahon tells
Tanaka that they called him into the office for a very good reason.
Lesnar is facing RVD next, for the PWL Intercontinental Title, and
if he has anything to do with the match, anything at all, he will
be fired from the PWL. Masato Tanaka is okay with this, and walks
away from the bosses with a devious smile...
--------------------------------------------------

(We are joined by RVD and Fonzie):

Fonzie- I'm here with the (taps the belt on RVD's shoulder) Intercontinental
Champion Daddy-O, and we are about to go out there are face Brock Lesnar.
Well let me tell you something, we haven't (RVD- I haven't...) he hasn't even been
the champion for even a month! In ECW, Rob Van Dam held the TV title for
one year, eleven months, eighteen days, two hours and forty-two seconds!
He holds the record for the longest reigning TV Champion to ever step foot
into the ECW Ring. Robbie V is what PWL nee---

Rob Van Dam- Hold on their Fonzie. Here I am, Monday Night once again.
Hey Lesnar, they don't call me "Mr. Monday Night" for nothing.

Fonzie- Hey, how about "Mr. PPV"? Why do they call you
that?

Rob Van Dam- Becuase I am the most reliable wrestler to bet on
when it comes to a clutch Pay Per View Match---

Fonzie- OH YEAH! And I heard something about the "Whole F'N Show"?

Rob Van Dam- They call me that because I am, and I steal, THE WHOLE
FUCKING SHOW!

Fonzie- And tonight won't be any different, Lesnar will be taken out with
a 5 Star finish, thats it, its over. And after the match, Lesnar will never
for get---

Rob Van Dam- ROB VAN DAM!

(Fonzie pulses his whistle and pulls RVD away from the camera,
and we here Fonzie screaming "Let's go champ!)

("Walk" by Pantera hits the speakers as Rob Van Dam comes
out to a standing ovation. Brock Lesnar walks out of the
curtain to "boos", and he is the obvious underdog in this
one. The two face off in the middle of the ring, face to
face and the bell rings.)

(PWL Intercontinental Title Match)
Rob Van Dam (c) vs Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar has climbed through the ranks faster than anyone else
here in the singles competition in PWL, and if ready to take on
Rob Van Dam. Lesnar starts the match off by smacking RVD, and this
starts an all out kicking/punching brawl. The fight was brught to
the outside. Lesnar got the upperhand as soon as they went out there
by throwing RVD in the rail. He tossed RVD into the ring, over the
top rope. He picks RVD up by his hair, and RVD executes a side kick
to the COO COO area! The referee warns RVD and checks on Lesnar.
Lesnar, who is furiated by the kick, shoved the ref out of the way.
Out of nowhere, someone tossed a road sign to Lesnar, and RVD executed
the Van-Daminator! RVD went for the pin to retain his title belt.

(no special match name)
Rob Van Dam pinned Brock Lesnar after hitting him with a road sign in 0:07:45.
Rating: ** 1/4

(#1 Contenders Match):
Anarchy (CS and CM Punk) vs The Briscoe Brothers

All four young and reckless rookies battle for the spot to take
on the champions at I&D. Anarchy comes back this week after a
loss to Danielson/Regal, and The Briscoe Bros. hope to continue their
streak this week. It was a short battle, and a clean finish. CM
pinned Jay Briscoe after a Pepsi Plunge. CS Punk and CM Punk will go
on to face te PWL tag team champions at Infiltrate and Destroy.

Wow... a 5-star match to kick off the show... involving KONNAN!?  *shudders* Stupid Konnan.  AMW rules though, so well done.

Wow... 23 seconds and Masters is done?  I like Styles, but I'm one of few people on the planet who likes Masters too, and 23 seconds is a shame.  I hope he gets the rematch.

New champs?  Wow.  I was hoping that Heyman would return the titles... that would have been cool.  Rematch next week that I hope Danielson and Regal win.

Van Dam wins!  Yay.  Though it would have been sweet to see Lesnar with gold.  Lesnar's too good to not be a champion, IMO.

What an odd main event.  Not that it was a bad match, but that it didn't seem like the most important match on this card.  Though the CS Punk name is clever, it's still taking me a bit to get used to.  Good match though, and I hope they're meeting AmDrag and Regal at the PPV.
MatteusPosted on 05/13/06 at 22:22:34

Yay, Vince is back! I missed the senile bastard ::)

Extremely good match, cleverish finish to it too. I like LAX more b/c of Homicide than anything. This could be a good feud if it keep up.

Boooo... I enjoy Chris Masters too, Ryan. I'm shocked that he lost so decisively and so fast. I'm actually excited about the new TV title rules. I hope Masters gets the shot.

Woow, another tag title change. I like Danielson and Regal together (though I'd rather have had The Gathering retain here). As it is, I like Shawn interfering in a sort of semi-comical, semi-serious way... it's very DXesque. I hope Danielson and Regal retain next week just b/c I like longer title reigns.

Good RVD promo, and I like RVD going over here b/c it furthers the potential for Lesnar/Tanaka brutality... plus RVD is awesome in my book ;)

Nice main event, although I might have ended with RVD/Lesnar or the tag title change. You've been centering all your shows on titles only to start. I'd like to see more undercard and upper level stuff not involving titles (The Gathering-HBK, Lesnar-Tanaka, and some new stuff). And no Flair?!?! No Carlito?!?! Oy, boy! Still, a good show and I think Anarchy will catch on if you infuse some personality into their TNM characters...

Nice show!

EDIT:
When's I&D? You should update us on the card as it gets put together. Gets me pumped for the show as the weeks go on and gives me something to build on in my own head.  8)
The Bizz 2.0Posted on 05/14/06 at 00:03:10

-Yeah, the whole main event thing kinda twisted me up to. I DID have a main event, but the ending was just way over the top, and I didn't wanna "air" it. I agree that I sould have switched the RVD/Lesnar w/ the current main event, but eh.
