UW Fury (May 8, 2006)

"Do the Evolution" by Pearl Jam plays with the opening video and pyro for UW Fury and we are live from Louisville, Kentucky! This week we'll see two Kingdom Come Qualifying matches as one half of Major League, "Superstar" Steven Richards will face off against North American champion Shelton Benjamin. After last week's attack at the hands of Sean O'Haire, one has to wonder if Shelton will be ready to take on Richards. In the other qualifying match, Generation Next's leader Gregory Shane Helms will go one-on-one with Chavo Guerrero, whose actions as of late have left many people scratching their heads. Orlando Jordan will finally get his hands on JBL in a UW ring and in the main event, Booker T and Randy Orton will fight for the opportunity to face World champion Triple H for the title at F'N Fury on May 26th! And in addition, Jeff Jarrett makes his return to ring after injuring his elbow two weeks ago as he hosts the new interview segment Planet Jarrett, and his first guests are no strangers to gold. Jeff Jarrett interviews World Tag Team champions MNM! Let's get to the ring!

"Can You Dig It, Sucka?!" Booker T came out to a huge ovation and immediately started addressing his opponent in tonight's Top Contenders match, "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton. He said that Orton has made a name for himself by offing legends, but here in UW he hasn't done jack. He said that Randy is a work of art inside the ring and a piece of crap outside it, so Orton should bring all the weapons in his arsenal tonight. Because unlike The Legend Killer, Booker T has made the finals of the Kingdom Come tourney coming within an inch of winning the World title, won a 90-minute Iron Man Challenge against Edge, and beaten the best this company has to offer. Everyone except Triple H, that is. But that's going to change at F'N Fury when he takes that gold belt off of Hunter and usurps Triple H's throne. This brought the World champion out to an ENORMOUS ovation. He told Booker last month that being a 5-time World champion is bush league in comparison to Triple H's 13 WWE and UW World titles. Nobody is going to take this belt away from him, he said. The last two times he's held this belt it took a knee injury and a steel pipe and company closure to get the belt off of him. That's not going to happen anytime soon. Booker said that last week Triple H tried to take him out in their match against Gen Next, so he knows he's afraid. Hunter began to retort this, but from out of nowhere, Randy Orton slid into the ring behind Booker and delivered an RKO! Triple H didn't move, but stared at Orton as he backed out of the ring with an arrogant smile on his face. "It only takes one," he laughed as he headed toward the back.

"Straight Up" Mikey Batts vs. "X-Rated" Teddy Hart (w/ Edge)

This was Teddy Hart's television debut with UW, and he certainly didn't fail to make an impact. With Edge in his corner, the young loose cannon of the Hart clan went right after Batts before he even got into the ring! He went outside and viciously threw Batts into the barricade and ring steps before bringing him back inside. Hart is a gifted technician, we can be sure about that, but he didn't have the desire to show that side of himself tonight. Batts had a single ineffective spurt of offense, but wasn't able to recover from Teddy's vicious onslaught to open the bout. Teddy finished with the Money in the Bank for the pinfall victory.

Teddy Hart pinned Mikey Batts after the Money in the Bank in 7:04.
Rating: **

After the match Edge and Teddy celebrated in the ring when the Team Canada's music played! The twosome looked absolutely terrified and readied for a fight, but nobody came out. Edge and Teddy started laughing and high-fiving. Edge said that he hopes nobody paid to see Team Canada tonight, because they're at home recovering from the ass-kicking Teddy and himself put on them last week. Actually, he hopes nobody ever pays to see Team Canada, because they're never going to get their money's worth from that group of wannabes. Teddy grabbed the mic and told Petey he's back in UW to finish what Team Canada started last year when they ousted him from the team. He and Edge will personally see to it that Team Canada is no more, and they'll be the only elite team of Canadians left in UW! The crowd starts booing them and they flip the entire crowd off! Teddy grabbed the mic again and said that if any of them want to do anything about it, he'll personally break their back and film it for posterity on his X Cam! They exited the ring and one fan got especially vocal with Edge and Hart and Teddy smacked the fan and Edge had to restrain Teddy from dragging him over the barricade! What in the world has Teddy Hart become?

The first part of a video package covering the Orlando Jordan and JBL feud was shown. As a member of The Inc. (pronounced "The Ink"), Orlando Jordan fought tooth-and-nail for JBL but often found himself being thrown into the fire in JBL's feuds with Booker T and John Cena, sacrificed to protect the cowardly Layfield. Meanwhile, Jordan compiled a rather impressive list of victories in singles matches of his own, including against Kurt Angle, RVD, Brock Lesnar, and Rey Mysterio...

Clips were shown from last week where Chavo Guerrero was beaten down by Sean O'Haire during their match, only to fight back and freeze on the top rope before delivering the Frog Splash. O'Haire grabbed him and hit the Prophecy for the pinfall.

Kingdom Come Qualifying Match:
Chavo Guerrero vs.  Gregory Shane Helms

Chavo Guerrero definitely looked like he's toughened up since last week, as he went on the offensive right away against the leader of Generation Next. He kept Helms off-base with armdrags and followed up with armbars, trying to wear the younger Helms down. But Gregory fought back and when Chavo went to the top-turnbuckle, he crotched Guerrero and delivered a superplex for two. He hit him with a tit-a-whirl backbreaker and grabbed him in a rear chinlock. Chavo grabbed the ropes, but Gregory started hitting him with knees to the back of the neck. Guerrero took control when he reversed a suplex attempt into a go-behind and rolled him up for two. This went into a succession of roll-ups and sunset flips, culminating with Helms clotheslining him and delivering a spinning elbowdrop for two and a half. Chavo went for the Three Amigos and hit two of them, but on the third one Helms blocked and hit a Northern Lights suplex for two and half. When the got up again, Helms hit a dropkick to Chavo's knees and hit the Shining Wizard for the three-count!

Gregory Shane Helms pinned Chavo Guerrero with the Shining Wizard in 11:38.
Rating: ** 1/2

Gregory Shane Helms advances into the Kingdom Come tournament on June 24th! He celebrated up the ramp and Chavo just sat in the ring, obviously disgruntled. The fans gave him a standing ovation as he stood up, and Chavo looked shocked. He went to the timekeeper's table and grabbed a mic and started yelling at the fans! "What the hell are you people cheering for?! Did you see the damn match?! I lost! I f***ing lost AGAIN!" He looked almost crazed as he told the fans he knew why they were cheering... he knew. He dropped the mic and walked toward the back. The fans weren't sure what to make of Chavo's remarks but Chavo has obviously not been himself lately...

Josh Mathews was standing next to Randy Orton backstage, and said that all the fans wanted to know what his relationship is with Sean O'Haire. Orton laughed, saying that their relationship was strictly business and it was all finished now. O'Haire offered his services for Pick Your Poison and roughed up Triple H before No Justice. In return, O'Haire asked himself to deliver a message to the North American champion... forcefully. He told Shelton that too was just business, but that's also a message he wanted to send to Booker T. It only takes one RKO to put you out, and all it takes is three seconds for that match to be over. And after the RKO, Booker will be out for much longer than that. He's tasted it once already tonight and in the main event, he's going to taste it again. And then Randy Orton is headed to the top of the mountain to slay the dragon that is holding the wrestling world hostage, "The Game" Triple H.

"Personal Jesus" by Marilyn Manson plays and Austin Aries came out to the ring carrying a cardboard cut-out of "The Alpha Male" Monty Brown. He started to run down the Alpha Male and all of wrestling's big-men, past and present, saying that they don't have a lick of wrestling ability and their place is with the dinosaurs: dead and buried by time. And at F'N Fury, Austin Aries is going to finish off Monty Brown and expose him for the fraud that he is. And whatever brawny Chippendale dancer wannabe decides to try and stop Generation Next after that, they're free to try. "The Time is Now" plays and John Cena came out to a thunderous pop from the crowd! He stepped in the ring and started cracking jokes on Aries in rap-form, commenting that Aries must've left his honor must've back in the indies because when he steps into this ring, he sounds like a major asshole, and that's real. Cena said that if he wants a warm-up bout, the Doctor of Thuganomics is game to teach him a thing or two about fighting!

John Cena vs. Austin Aries

Aries started out the match in control, using his high-risk arsenal eventually hitting a lionsault for two. He whipped Cena into the corner and charged in with a dropkick which knocked John loopy. Aries tried to wear Cena down with a headlock, but the fans started getting behind Cena and he used their energy to power out of the maneuver, hitting hit spinning release side suplex to take Austin down. Cena went on a tear from there, hitting Aries with a flurry of punches to Aries' head and an atomic drop. He hit Austin with a belly-to-belly suplex, but then went outside his normal assortment of moves and tried to hit a legdrop and missed. Aries took the opportunity and picked him up and took him down with a brainbuster. Cena looked to be in trouble and Aries went to the top and hit the 450 splash! He covered: one... two... and Cena got his foot in the ropes! Aries slapped the mat three times to show his frustration. He tossed Cena outside and started to go to work on him out there, but Cena was in his domain and ended up busting Aries open when he threw him into the ringpost! He threw Austin back in the ring and hooked the STF! Aries struggled and looked like he was going to tap, but grabbed the ropes at the last second. Cena went for the F-U, but Aries countered with a DDT onto his knee and put Cena back in a headlock. Cena let out a yell and lifted Austin up from the headlock in position for an F-U and this time he nailed it! He covered and got the pinfall!

John Cena pinned Austin Aries with the F-U in 12:54.
Rating: ***

John Cena beat the technically superior Austin Aries! This doesn't bode too well for Aries when he steps into the ring with the much larger and more motivated Monty Brown. As Aries recovered in the ring, The Alpha Male came through the crowd and jumped the barricade, entering the ring and he started pummeling Austin Aries! Shelley and Helms were nowhere to be found as Brown sent Aries into the ropes and leveled him with a vicious Pounce! Austin fell out of the ring and Monty Brown let out a roar. The Alpha Male gains a small measure of revenge against Generation  Next, but at F'N Fury he goes toe-to-toe with Austin Aries.

Part two of the JBL/OJ video package was shown, and as Jordan's stock rose in UW with his list of marquee wins, OJ started refusing to interfere in matches for JBL. While JBL continued to win and successfully defend his North American title with help from the Bashams, Layfield didn't appreciate the OJ's newfound morals and insubordination. When Jordan earned a Top Contenders match for a shot at JBL's NA title, JBL told him to decline or forfeit. Jordan wouldn't, and went on to defeat Sean O'Haire to earn the title shot, and if that weren't bad enough, John Cena interfered on his behalf to help him win the match!

One night, eight men, one king. UW presents Kingdom Come, live on pay-per-view June 24th from Dallas, Texas! Order now!

Planet Jarrett with guests, UW World Tag Team champions MNM
Former World champion Jeff Jarrett was in the ring, decked out with stars and Jeff Jarrett memorabilia, and with his arm in a sling. He said that his guests tonight were true champions like himself. Not Triple H, the belt warmer, holding his title until Jarrett's elbow is rehabbed. TRUE champions. MNM came out and Jarrett started stroking their egos, saying that they were the best tag team in the world today. Melina agreed and said that at F'N Fury they were going to put Limited Edition out to pasture and retain their World Tag Team titles. Nitro said that both Dinsmore and Conway have been smacked in the face with the title belt in the past two weeks, and that's the closest they'll ever get to the belts from here on in. Mercury said that MNM won't be losing these belts now, tomorrow, or ever. Limited Edition can kiss their title aspirations goodbye. This brought out Conway and Dinsmore and we had an all-out brawl on our hands! Jarrett high-tailed it, protecting his injured elbow. Limited Edition got the upper hand, hitting MNM with their respective finishers! They tossed the champs out and stood tall in the ring with MNM struggling their way up the ramp...

Josh Mathews caught up with Charlie Haas backstage, asking Haas if he had any remorse for allowing Shelton Benjamin to get attacked by Randy Orton and Sean O'Haire last week. Charlie seemed much more docile and calm than he had during the previous weeks when we've seen him in and out of the ring. He said that he'd be lying if he said part of him didn't want to defend Shelton last week, but it's not his business. Shelton chose his path and Haas chose his, and if the to meet again, so be it. But right now, Charlie's therapist finally has him somewhat under control with medication and therapy and he needs to stay away from stress-inducing situations. He's not sure if he'll take time off from wrestling as a result, but that's something he and his wife will have to discuss. When asked if he harbored any ill will toward Orton and O'Haire for costing him the match, Haas said that the devil always gets what he's due when the time is right.

Kingdom Come Qualifying Match:
Shelton Benjamin vs. "Superstar" Steven Richards

Shelton Benjamin was a man possessed here tonight. He slugged it out with Richards and threw him to the ropes, hitting him with a Gorilla Press slam! He whipped Steven into the turnbuckle and delivered a Blinger Splash! Shelton ended it in under a minute with the T-Bone for the pinfall victory!

Shelton Benjamin pinned Steven Richards with the T-Bone in 00:40.
Rating: *

After the match, Shelton got on the mic and said that if Sean O'Haire wants a fight, he's got himself an ass-kicking coming. Shelton sounded more ferocious than we've ever heard him before! "Price to Play" by Staind played and out came Sean O'Haire! O'Haire said that he could come down there right now and destroy the North American champion if he wanted to, but he won't. He does have a challenge for Shelton: if he thinks he has what it takes mentally, physically, and spiritually to look eye-to-eye with the darkness then he'll defend his title against Sean O'Haire at F'N Fury. Shelton didn't hesitate in accepting his challenge and told O'Haire to bring whatever weapons he's got in that dark soul of his, because he'll need it. O'Haire responded by saying that Shelton has no idea what weapons O'Haire has in store for him, and when it's all said and done Sean O'Haire's rise to power will have begun...

Part three of the JBL/OJ video package, and Cena helping Jordan win the Top Contenders match against Sean O'Haire was the last straw for JBL, who ousted Jordan from The Inc. and accepted OJ's challenge for UW's next pay-per-view, No Justice. He refused to fight OJ prior to the fight, instead sending Doug and Danny after him and Cena. Before that match could happen, however, UW ceased operations and the two never met face-to-face, as OJ wrestled the indy scene and Layfield spent the hiatus on MSNBC. But next, these two will finally go face to face in a UW ring.

Orlando Jordan vs. John Bradshaw Layfield

This match was almost a year in the making after Orlando Jordan started winning too many matches and overshadowing the former North American champion. Ironically, Jordan never got the title shot he earned and was supposed to get against JBL, but I'm sure just getting his hands on JBL finally was enough for OJ. Layfield controlled early, using his sizable power advantage to scoop up Jordan and toss him backwards for a fallaway slam that only got a one count. JBL kicked OJ in the stomach and set him up for a powerbomb, but Jordan reversed it into a backdrop! When JBL got up he hit a couple hiptosses and started jabbing away at the jaw of JBL. Layfield retreated outside the ring and started to leave, but he was stopped when John Cena appeared atop the ramp! He put up his fists and JBL thought it better to get back into the ring. Cena followed as OJ hit a dropkick and covered for two. Cena grabbed the mic as JBL poked OJ in the eyes and took control, whipping Jordan into the ropes and hitting him with a big boot. Then Cena started rapping what JBL was doing to Orlando! JBL tried to get him to shut up, but Cena was giving OJ an advantage in the match! As JBL readied to hit Jordan with the Clothesline From Hell, Cena warned him and Jordan caught his arm and nailed JBL with a Flatliner! OJ made the cover and the ref counted the pinfall! Orlando Jordan defeated JBL!

Orlando Jordan pinned John Bradshaw Layfield after a Flatliner in 7:01.
Rating: * 3/4

Jordan has finally done it! After months of waiting, OJ has finally defeated his former employer and mentor right here in Louisville! JBL was left in the ring, stunned and infuriated as he watched John Cena lift Orlando's hand in victory. They both waved their hands in front of their faces and laughed as JBL stomped around and kicked the ropes in the ring.

Clips were shown of the Triple Threat match at No Justice where Booker hit Triple H with the Scissor Kick and Orton hit Triple H with the RKO on Booker. This was followed by a replay of last week when Triple H and Booker T got into it and of earlier tonight when Orton RKO'd Booker and motioned to Triple H that he'd be the next champion.

"All Hail the King... the King of Kings." The UW World champion Triple H came out to the announce table and informed the broadcast team that he would be providing his exclusive input on both competitors in tonight's main event.

Top Contenders Match:
Booker T vs. "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton

Orton and Booker sized each other up after the bell rang and when they finally got into it, Orton went on the attack early, going for the neck of Booker. He hit him with a neckbreaker and a brainbuster for two, and grabbed him in a side headlock. Booker fought out of it but Orton stayed on him pounding forearms into the back of Book's head and dropping his knee on his neck. Orton punished Booker like this for minutes until he missed a clothesline and Booker tossed him over the ropes and out of the ring! They fought near the announce table and Booker called out Trips. As Triple H slowly rose out of his seat, Orton capitalized and jumped Booker from behind. Hunter got out of his seat and started watching the match from ringside at this point, as Randy threw Book into the ringpost and back in the ring for a two-count. He got another chinlock and this time started grinding into Booker viciously. Book fought out and took control, hitting Orton with a backdrop, a sidekick and a sidewalk slam, but couldn't get the fall. He hit a spinebuster and got two and half, but went to the top rope and went for a Harlem Hangover but Orton moved and Booker ate canvas. Randy stalked Booker and when he got to his feet went for the RKO but Booker shoved him into the ropes and caught him with a kick to the gut. He charged the ropes and went for the Scissor kick, but Orton moved! Booker reversed an Irish whip into the ropes, but Orton held his arm and pulled him in to nail him with an RKO! He covered Booker: one... two... foot in the ropes! Orton slapped the mat and picked up Booker, putting him in a sleeper, but Booker countered with a go-behind and shoved Orton into the ropes where Triple H was waiting with a chair and smacked him in the stomach with a chairshot! Orton doubled over in pain and Booker charged in and hit the Scissor Kick! Booker covered him: one... two... three!

Booker T pinned Randy Orton with the Scissor Kick in 8:39.
Rating: **** 1/4
[Triple H interfered against Randy Orton.]

Booker T has won the right to challenge Triple H for the UW World title at F'N Fury! Hunter applauded Booker as he strolled toward the back, leaving Booker in the ring staring at the champion. Booker motioned to Triple H that the belt was coming his way at F'N Fury, where it'll be just the two of them one-on-one.

Announced card for UW F'N Fury (May 26th)

UW World Title: "The Game" Triple H (c) vs. Booker T

UW World Tag Team Titles: MNM (c) vs.Limited Edition
[If Limited Edition loses, they never get another title shot against MNM!]

UW North American Title: Shelton Benjamin (c) vs. Sean O'Haire

"The Alpha Male" Monty Brown vs. Austin Aries
Snabbit888Posted on 05/08/06 at 05:18:31

I like Booker T in the main event scene, and whoever wins the contenders match tonight is going to have their hands full with HHH.

Poor Mikey Batts.  I like Mikey Batts. *single tear*Damn you, Teddy Hart, damn you!  What HAS Teddy Hart become?  He needs to go back to teaching his cats how to wrestle.

Good match with Helms and Chavo, and Chavo is losing it more and more each week.  This thing with Chavo is fantastic.  I can't wait to see where it's going next.

Not a good night for Austin Aries.  Not only did Cena make him look stupid, but then Brown kicked his ass thoroughly post match.  I think Brown isn't going to win at F'N Fury though.

I tried hard for so long to get into Dinsmore and Conway as a team in my circuits, but they're just too vanilla for my liking.  MNM better dismantle them thoroughly.

Wow... Benjamin sure didn't fuck around with Stevie.  O'Haire is kinda scary.  Hehe.

I'm glad you're giving Orlando Jordan a push.  He rules a lot.  One thing I need some explanation on though... what exactly was the circumstances of the UW hiatus?

Not a lot to say about the main event other than GREAT match, and the right man went over.  F'N Fury is looking to be a great card.  Keep 'em coming!
MatteusPosted on 05/08/06 at 05:38:13

Essentially, the hiatus occurred because of a failed merger between NWA, TNA and UW. Matteus, then only the president of UW, bought out the majority of shares in UW from Vince McMahon basically without his knowledge through private companies and charitable organizations. He had agreed in principle with TNA to buy out their rights to the NWA World and NWA World Tag Team titles through 2014 and changing their name to "NWA Unlimited!". Upon finding out about this deal, NWA threatened to sue UW and TNA b/c they had not been informed. The months in haiatus were spent settling out-of-court and deciding the fate of the NWA titles. UW didn't get anything basically, and picked up where they left off after establishing their fanbase and making plans again.

I wrote most of this in a post when I first started posting UW here, but this is a little more in-depth... yes? :)
Snabbit888Posted on 05/08/06 at 05:56:07

Yes.  Perfect.  Thank you.

Now what is the real reason for it?  Get busy with school? :)
MatteusPosted on 05/08/06 at 06:02:58

OOOOH, lol!

Basically yeah, I graduated in May and before that I had been working my ass off on an honors thesis and psychology experiment I was conducting. I kind of lost the drive to do it for a bit, but I'm off of school for a year and decided to give posting in the forums a go.

Thanks for making people think I actually have/had a life, Ryan! Does wonders for my rep ;)!!

I'm really excited to see the direction you'll take with Chavo, an excellen storyline if I may so say.

Nice job doing the video packaging of the OJ/JBL feud, updating us about what happened in the circuit prior to posting.

I really don't buy Jarrett hosting a talk-show, but that's about the only negative I have to point out. Oh, and maybe your next PPV (F'n Fury) sounds a little too much like your weekly shows? (Fury?)

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that F'N Fury is like a special edition of Fury.  Think Clash of the Champions.  At least that's what I have gathered.

Bingo ;) ... Friday Night (F'N) Fury
rey619Posted on 05/08/06 at 16:51:32

Ah, then I retract my earlier statement ;)

Nice job Matteus, you even got me wanting to have Cena beat Aries.. and I hate Cena while being an Aries mark.. reMARKably...
JustinPosted on 05/08/06 at 18:16:17

interesting segment with Hass. Gotta kinda wonder what will happen if he misses a dose of meds.

Chavo is losing it for sure... I smell and anti-Eddie heel turn

Jarrett as a host doesn't seem to work right... he seems more like the guy that needs to talk over the interviewer

Cena stopping Aries was kind of a surprise. The way Aries talked I guessed that he may cheat to win. Then having Brown hit the POOOOOOUUUNNNCE after the match sets up F'N Fury good

Solid card for F'N Fury... it should be a good read

-I like the Booker T Segment. And that piece of trash outside the
ring comment... good touch. Sweet. You got the Tripe H thing down
pat. RKO!!! I'm hyped kid... good segment.

-Nice Jordan/JBL recap.

-I like Tit-A-Whirls!!!

-I like the Chavo angle... wonder where u gonna go with it.

-NO!!! Why would you let Cena win?

-Oh man. I was pulling for the RKo and the win.
But I am just as excited to see where you take it.

Nice card bro... keep it up. cant wait for F'N Fury
