Pre-Game Show Match
"The Teen Phenom" Ken Doane vs. Sean O'Haire (w/ Daffney)
Before we got to the main show, we had one match on our pre-game show which was a rematch from Monday Night Explosion this past week. In the first meeting, Ken Doane was able to survive O'Haire's attacks, preventing the Seanton Bomb and hitting an impressive Blue Thunder Bomb for the win. The battle was just as hard-hitting an evenly matched as the last, but the big difference was the result. Once again, when O'Haire went for the Seanton Bomb, Doane was able to crotch him on the top rope. This time though, Doane went up to bring O'Haire down with a superplex, but when he went for it, Daffney grabbed onto O'Haire's leg. Doane crashed down to the mat hard, and O'Haire hit the Seanton Bomb to walk out with a win in Los Angeles.

Sean O'Haire pinned Ken Doane with the Seanton Bomb in 0:08:20.
Rating: ** 1/2

Though not on the pay-per-view itself, this was a great forum for both of these men, and a great win for Sean O'Haire, who looks to get himself back into title contention. Ken Doane has nothing to be ashamed of either, as he has been getting it done in the ring since making his debut.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A HUGE fireworks display can mean only one thing, and that it is now finally time for SUPER CADE II! The Staples Center in Los Angeles, California has been sold out for weeks as fans from over 40 states and 6 countries were here for what should promise to be the greatest night of wrestling action this year. All five championships are on the line. The World's Greatest Tag Team puts the World Tag Team Titles up against Booker T and Goldust, Matt Hardy defends the Television Title against his own brother in a ladder match, with the special stipulation that the loser of this match will have to leave GCW FOREVER! Also, "The Alpha Male" Monty Brown defends the North American Title against CM Punk, a six-man Cruiserweight Chaos match for the Cruiserweight Title, Chris Jericho vs. Randy Orton in Hell in a Cell, Shawn Michaels and Eddie Guerrero in a unsanctioned match with special guest referee Mick Foley, and in our huge main event, Kurt Angle defends the World Heavyweight Title against Deadly Draw winner Brock Lesnar in a match that has been on the horizon since GCW opened its doors! What a night this should be!

Match #1
North American Title Match
"The Alpha Male" Monty Brown (c) vs. CM Punk (w/ Daffney)
Our huge night kicked off with our first title match, Monty Brown putting his North American Title on the line against CM Punk. Brown has been absolutely dominant as the North American champion, holding the title for nearly 8 months now. Punk, just recently losing the Television Title himself, has definitely gotten into Brown's head though, stemming from torching the Alpha Male's face with a fireball. Brown has recovered from the injury, but his anger hasn't subsided a bit as these two had nothing more than a fight here. Punk usually keeps himself cool, calm, and collected when he wrestles, but he too tapped into a darker side of himself for this battle. After both men had taken a beating, the match stumbled to the floor. Referee JD Sanders tried to get the two back in the ring, but they were more concerned with the fight than anything else. Sanders counted out both men, making this one a draw.

CM Punk and Monty Brown battled to a double countout in 0:07:19.
Rating: ***
(Monty Brown retained the GCW North American Title.)

The match was over, but the scuffle wasn't. Brown and Punk continued to battle, fighting their way into the crowd. The fight continued around in the crowd until they stumbled out behind the stage. At this point, Punk's underlings in the Prophecy, Sean O'Haire and Jeff Hardy, jumped Brown and gave him a beating while Punk set up a table. Daffney then handed Punk some lighter fluid which he poured all over the table and set it ablaze! Officials tried to stop the carnage that was going on, but they couldn't as Punk (with an assist from O'Haire and Hardy) power bombed Brown through the fire table! Officials came down and put the fire out in a heartbeat, but the damage had definitely been done. Brown suffered some minor burns and lacerations, so he's going to be okay, but he was definitely shaken up. This one is a long way from over, but Monty Brown is still the North American champion.

Match #2
"The Crippler" Chris Benoit vs. Steve Bradley
This next match has been 3 months in the making as Chris Benoit looked to finally avenge what Steve Bradley did to his wife. A video package aired before this match documenting how we got here, including Bradley attacking Nancy Benoit in her home back in March, Bradley being arrested, Benoit agreeing to drop the charges in exchange for a World Heavyweight Title shot, and Benoit tapping to Kurt Angle's Ankle Lock at Mayhem while Bradley had a hold of Nancy's hair. The Crippler is normally filled with intensity when he's in a good mood, but this was something all together new as he was overflowing with rage. Bradley is a tough guy and he did get his shots in, but to say that Benoit wasn't dominating this match would be an outright lie. Benoit seemed to not even be feeling pain as he dominating essentially from bell-to-bell, making Bradley tap out to the Crippler Crossface.

Chris Benoit made Steve Bradley submit to the Crippler Crossface in 0:10:05.
Rating: ***

Having successfully defeated Bradley, we thought that Benoit would be able to put everything behind him, but what happened next was absolutely shocking. After the match, the Rabid Wolverine went to hug his wife, Nancy, Nancy pulled back and slapped Chris right across the face! Benoit couldn't believe it, but he was in even more shock when Nancy grabbed the microphone and said that Chris was selfish and put her in harm's way in a greedy attempt to take the World Heavyweight Title. Because of Chris showing where his true love was, she wanted a DIVORCE! Nancy stormed off, leaving Benoit (and the packed Staples Center) in complete disbelief.

EDDIE GUERRERO CONFRONTS MICK FOLEY
Backstage we saw "The Italian Stallion" Chuck Palumbo, and he had a makeshift pizza stand set up, because apparently he thought that Super Cade would be the best venue in which to peddle his wares. Palumbo was yelling, "PIZZA HERE! GET-A YOUR PIZZA HERE!" which brought in MICK FOLEY to a huge pop from the crowd. Foley looked to be in a jolly mood going into being the special referee for Shawn Michaels vs. Eddie Guerrero later on tonight. Foley was having a good time joking around with Palumbo, but his mood soured when Latino Heat himself came into view. Eddie got right in Foley's face and began to run him down, saying as many unflattering things as he could. Guerrero went on to say that he didn't trust Foley, and that he wouldn't hesitate to kick his ass too if he didn't call the match right down the middle. Foley fired back with an intense retort, saying that he didn't appreciate being threatened, and that he should be worrying more about Shawn Michaels and not him. The situation was tense and this goes to show how far gone Guerrero is.

Match #3
Loser-Leaves-Town Ladder Match for the Television Title
Matt Hardy (c) vs. Jeff Hardy (w/ Lita)
Can a match get any more personal than this one? It would be enough for a match to just be for the Television Title, but add to the fact that the loser of this match will be forced to leave Global Championship Wrestling. And add on to that the fact that these two are brothers, and for Matt Hardy, he has to wrestle this match with his ex-girlfriend in the corner of his opponent. If that we're enough, let's make this a ladder match and you have all the makings for an explosion. The history of the Hardy Boyz is well documented, and over the years prior to coming to GCW, the Hardyz daredevil antics, death-defying moves, and total disregard for their own well-beings made them stars. But now they are bitter enemies, and they were using those antics, moves, and disregard against each other. These two are masters of the ladder, and they used it to its fullest potential. Not only did they find many creative ways to use the ladder as a weapon, but they also found many creative ways to use it as a springboard. Highlights of the ladder's use include Jeff Hardy running up it and jumping onto Matt with a moonsault, and Matt catching Jeff with the flying legdrop from nearly the top of the ladder. After the flying legdrop, Matt looked to have this one wrapped up as he climbed the ladder, but Lita got herself involved by shoving the ladder down. Matt came down hard on his right elbow, suffering an injury, but one that will not require him to miss any time. Lita set the ladder back up over top of Matt, pinning him down so that Jeff could climb up and retrieve the TV Title. However, in a testament to Matt's heart, he mustered up the strength to push the ladder up, causing Jeff to fall backwards over the top rope to the floor! Jeff was completely wiped out as the crowd chanted "HOLY SHIT!" in appreciation of that move. Matt set the ladder back up and slowly climbed to the top. Lita once again tried to get involved, grabbing Matt's leg, but he kicked her away, continued up the ladder, and retrieved the Television Title.

No-Countout-No-DQ-Ladder Loser-Leaves-Town Match:
Matt Hardy defeated Jeff Hardy in 0:08:13.
Matt Hardy suffered an elbow injury. He will not miss any time.
Rating: *** 1/2
(Matt Hardy retained the GCW Television Title.)

As an exhausted Matt Hardy fell to the canvas still the Television champion, the realization of what just happened hit Lita, and then Jeff upon his recovery. Jeff Hardy had lost, and he is now GONE from Global Championship Wrestling! Jeff and Lita threw a fit, somehow trying to come up with an excuse for why this wasn't valid, but the decision is what it is, and Matt Hardy has excommunicated his brother from GCW.

BROCK LESNAR OFFERS HIS THOUGHTS ON THE MAIN EVENT
We then went backstage where we had words from a pumped up Brock Lesnar, who is just a couple of hours will be challenging Kurt Angle for the World Heavyweight Title. Nothing ground-breaking from this interview, but Lesnar is definitely ready for this opportunity. He should be; he has only waited 7 months to get a one-on-one match with Kurt Angle, and fought through a torn right triceps to get this chance.

Match #4
Unsanctioned Match
Special Guest Referee: Mick Foley
"The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels vs. "Latino Heat" Eddie Guerrero
We haven't seen Shawn Michaels in a wrestling match since the start of 2005, and after this one, well... we still haven't seen him in a wrestling match. HBK has been itching to get his revenge on Eddie Guerrero for quite some time, and he had to jump through a lot of hoops to get this match, including finding a referee in the form of Mick Foley. The Heartbreak Kid is not at 100%, let's not kid ourselves. He probably never will be, but throughout his career Michaels was always known for his heart, and he wasn't going to go off into the night after what his former good friend Guerrero did to him with that sledgehammer. It wasn't a secret what Eddie's strategy was going to be and that was to target that back. Despite Shawn's early domination of the match, it was only a matter of time before Latino Heat got a shot on that back and the dismantling began, and with no rules, the possibilities were endless. Guerrero kept beating on Michaels, but his focus was definitely skewed as he continued to turn his attention to Mick Foley, yelling about things like slow counts. Now Foley was calling this match right down the middle, so it was as if Eddie was going out of his way to piss the Hardcore Legend off. Eddie's inability to focus on putting HBK away would ultimately cost him. At one point after Eddie hit a huge brain buster, he went for a cover on Michaels and got a 2 and 9/10 count. Guerrero was furious and got in Foley's face, but Foley wasn't about to be intimidated and got right back in Eddie's face. Latino Heat eventually backed off, but when Foley turned his back, Eddie nailed him with a low blow! Foley doubled over with pain as Guerrero went to the floor and grabbed a sledgehammer from under the ring. Guerrero reentered the ring with the intentions of attacking Foley, but by this point, Michaels had recovered and surprised Eddie with a flying forearm. HBK took the sledgehammer and gave Eddie one good shot to the face, all but knocking him out on his feet. A flying elbowdrop was next, and the crowd was on its feet as the Heartbreak Kid tuned up the band and hit the Sweet Chin Music to get the win!

[Unsanctioned]: No-Time-Limit-No-Countout-No-DQ-Match with Special Referee Mick Foley:
Shawn Michaels pinned Eddie Guerrero with the Sweet Chin Music in 0:16:13.
Rating: **** 1/4

I don't know how Shawn Michaels did it, but he somehow managed to find a way to get the job done here tonight. After the match, HBK grabbed the microphone and thanked all the fans for his support, and said maybe he'll be back again some day. HBK received a standing ovation from everyone in attendance, including Mick Foley. If Shawn Michaels is truly gone, what a way to go! Eddie Guerrero had to be helped to the back by officials after the shot he took with the sledgehammer.

Match #5
Number-One-Contenders Tag Team Triangle Match
Star Quality vs. "Primetime" Elix Skipper/Low-Ki vs. The Basham Brothers (w/ Shaniqua)
These three teams have been exchanging victories of all types for weeks now, thus making it very difficult for a number-one-contender to the World Tag Team Titles to be named. This match was signed recently for Super Cade to decide who would be the next in line for a World Tag Team Title shot. Right from the get-go, Matt Morgan and Rob Conway received a huge mixed reaction as there are rumors that they are on the way out of Global Championship Wrestling. Whether that is true or not remains to be seen, but either way they looked very lackluster in this one. Though it hurt the match a bit that they were a little on the unmotivated side, the Bashams and Elix Skipper & Low-Ki definitely brought it for the biggest show of the year, wrestling most of the match themselves at a quick pace. In the end, Rob Conway did get in the match, but it didn't take him long to fall victim to the Play of the Day from Elix Skipper and this one was in the books.

Number-One-Contenders-Triangle Match:
Elix Skipper and Low-Ki defeated The Basham Brothers (Doug Basham and Danny Basham) and Star Quality (Matt Morgan and Rob Conway) when Skipper pinned Conway with the Play of the Day in 0:05:39.
Rating: ***

Elix Skipper and Low-Ki are now the number-one-contenders, but this leaves everything up in the air. If you'll remember back to March at Proving Ground, Skipper and Low-Ki lost a 2-out-of-3 falls match to the World's Greatest Tag Team with the stipulation that if they lost, they couldn't receive another title shot until Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin lost the belts. Skipper and Low-Ki will get their title shot, but the question is, how long are they going to have to wait?

LANCE STORM MAKES A SHOCKING ANNOUNCEMENT
Lance Storm hit the ring next for a brief interview, and his mood was somber. Storm started off by apologizing to Shark Boy for what he did on Explosion last Monday, saying that was completely out of character and was uncalled for, asking Shark Boy for his forgiveness. Storm went on to say that he doesn't like what he has become. That, coupled with nagging back and shoulder injuries, Lance Storm announced that he plans to retire from professional wrestling. Storm said that he has had a great career but now it's time to go off into the sunset. Storm concluded by saying that before he goes, he wants one more match in a GCW ring, saying he has a few opponents in mind. Storm thanked the crowd, and he left to a round of applause from the LA crowd. It'll be sad to see Storm go, but the former North American champion has done a lot in this sport and in GCW. He will be missed.

Match #6
Cruiserweight Chaos III for the Cruiserweight Title
Participants: Frankie "The Future" Kazarian (c), Paul London, "The Amazing" Red, Rey Mysterio Jr., "The Notorious K.I.D." Kid Kash, "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles
GCW has put together one of the greatest Cruiserweight divisions in the world, and the previous two Cruiserweight Chaos matches have been instant classics. AJ Styles has had phenomenal success in this type of environment, as he absolutely dominating Cruiserweight Chaos II, eliminating six of his seven opponents singlehandedly. That knowledge of this match and confidence would definitely serve to his benefit. The first few minutes of this match were exactly what the name would imply: chaos. There was little order established, and other than Kazarian and Red, any sense of allies out there went out the window. Paul London, AJ Styles, and Rey Mysterio Jr. have developed quite a friendship over the past few weeks, but with the Cruiserweight Title up for grabs, they were going at each other like they were looking at their worst enemies. At about the 8 minute mark, a strange thing happened when Kid Kash found himself cornered and all five of the other competitors targeting him! Kash has not done a lot to endear himself to anyone since joining the ranks of GCW, as everyone in this match can't stand him. Kash foolishly picked a fight with everyone at the same time, and it resulted in him suffering the blunt of quite a beating from all five of his opponents. Not surprising, Kash would be the first one eliminated after taking a big move from all five men, being finished off by Paul London and a swinging facebuster.

With five men left, the match started to pair up a bit. Frankie Kazarian and Red obviously had a plan going into Super Cade that they were going to pick off everyone they could and then duke it out at the end, but that plan deteriorated quickly. After Red had hit a huge enzuigiri on London, Kazarian rolled Red up from behind and got a nearfall. Red turned around shocked and then got in Kazarian's face. Kazarian responded by slapping Red in the face. Red didn't take too kindly to this and kicked Kazarian in the gut, followed by nailing him with a huge roundhouse kick directly to the Future's head! Kazarian was loopy and didn't see AJ Styles fly off the ropes and catch Kazarian with a flying huracanrana that pinned him! The champ had been pinned which guaranteed that we would see a brand new champion crowned. Red himself was opportunistic when seeing Styles pinning Kazarian, he quickly climbed to the top and right after the three count was made, hit Styles with the InfraRed before the Phenomenal One could get up, and he pinned Styles!

We were left with three as Mysterio, Red, and London all went into a different corner. One would think that Red was going to be the one in trouble here as Mysterio and London have been working together in recent weeks, but London surprised us all by attacking Mysterio, perhaps picturing him as the bigger threat. Red stood back while London and Mysterio went at it, hitting each other with some quick moves. London got Mysterio down and went for the London Calling, but Red decided that now would be the opportunity he took to get involved again, jumping up and catching London with a kick to the head as he climbed the ropes and knocking him to the floor. Red was very proud of himself, but none too happy when Mysterio surprised him with a rana to get the pin! Now we had just Mysterio and London, two former Cruiserweight champions going at it. London came back in and hit a springboard flying leg lariat on Mysterio and got a nearfall, followed by a swinging facebuster which garnered the same. London called for the London Calling and actually got to the top this time, but Mysterio moved out of the way. London landed awkwardly and had the wind completely knocked out of him, but he managed to pull himself to his feet. This allowed Mysterio to hit a springboard sitdown faceslam and win the Cruiserweight Title for a second time!

[Cruiserweight Chaos III]:
Rey Mysterio Jr. won a 6-man Cruiserweight Chaos:
x London defeated Kash after a swinging facebuster in 0:08:44
x Styles defeated Kazarian after a flying huracanrana in 0:10:26
x Red defeated Styles after the InfraRed in 0:10:33
x Mysterio Jr. defeated Red after a rana in 0:12:09
x Mysterio Jr. defeated London after a springboard sitdown faceslam in 0:14:08
Rating: ****
(Rey Mysterio Jr. won the GCW Cruiserweight Title.)

After the match, Paul London presented Mysterio with the Cruiserweight Title and raised his hand in victory. What a great match, and we have a brand new champion here at Super Cade!

Match #7
World Tag Team Title Match
The World's Greatest Tag Team (c) vs. Booker T/Goldust (w/ Sharmell)
We just saw one new champion crowned. Could Booker T & Goldust make it two in a row? Booker and Goldust have had to go through many obstacles to even get to this point as a team, and it would be a huge testament to them if they could walk out of Super Cade as the World Tag Team champions. That would be a tall order though as Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin are not called the World's Greatest Tag Team for nothing. What resulted was a solid tag match. Haas and Benjamin were on the same page and making frequent tags, cutting off the ring, and utilizing tandem offense. While the challengers started that way, it didn't continue for too long as at one point, Goldust decided that he wasn't going to tag back into the match, getting distracted by things just when Booker would be looking to make a tag. Booker was willing to give Goldie the benefit of the doubt the first couple of times, but late in the match after Booker caught a desperation spinebuster on Benjamin, he crawled over to make the tag. This time Goldust blatantly dropped off the apron and went to the back! Sharmell tried to get Goldust to come back, but he would have none of it. Booker was left to fight two men by himself, and when you're fighting the tag team champions alone, you're usually going to come out on the short end of the stick. Booker tried, but he couldn't overcome the odds, finally succumbing to the Haas of Pain.

The World's Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin) defeated Booker T and Goldust when C. Haas made Booker T submit to the Haas of Pain in 0:08:10.
Rating: ***
(The World's Greatest Tag Team retained the GCW World Tag Team Titles.)

The WGTT are still carrying the World Tag Team Titles, but they won what essentially became a handicap match. Why did Goldust walk out on Booker T? We are hoping to have an answer to this question tomorrow night on Explosion. The fact remains though, that the World's Greatest Tag Team's lengthy title reign continues.

KURT ANGLE'S THOUGHTS FOR THE MAIN EVENT
We had heard from the challenger earlier, and now it was time to hear from the champion. This is the most confident and intense we have seen Kurt Angle in a long time. Angle mentioned how all the "experts and internet geeks" don't think he has a chance against Brock Lesnar. Angle said he knows he does it a lot, but he ran down all of his credentials, and you have to admit: when they're laid out in a list like that, they're very impressive. Angle hit home that the most important of his credentials is that he's the GCW World Heavyweight champion and he plans on being so for a long time. A very intense and hard-hitting promo from Kurt Angle. He looks to be ready as he has the biggest title defense of his life.

Match #8
Hell in a Cell
"Y2J" Chris Jericho vs. Randy Orton
Chris Jericho and Randy Orton used to be good friends, going all the way back to the time when they were both in the Sensationals. When the Sensationals split, they remained allies, fighting together against Kurt Angle and Steve Bradley. Things started to change though when Chris Jericho won the World Heavyweight Title at Gold Rush in January. Orton became jealous of Jericho's success, especially when the two met as part of a Fatal Fourway match for the World Heavyweight Title in which Y2J lost the title back to Kurt Angle. From there, things degenerated with Jericho and Orton meeting in a variety of matches. In singles matches they're tied at one match a piece, Orton beating Jericho at Deadly Draw and Jericho returning the favor at Mayhem. One more match was signed to settle the score once and for all, in a match so dangerous that this is the first time it has been seen in Global Championship Wrestling... HELL IN A CELL.

The first few minutes of this match were very slow and very tentative. In a structure as menacing as Hell in a Cell, you have to take calculated risks. The first few minutes were a feeling out process, both men using some chain wrestling to play a game of "top this." Once the cell itself came into play though, this match became violent in a hurry. What made this match so good and so unique was that it wasn't violence for the sake of violence. When the cell was used, often times it was out of pure defense. This match was exactly what a good bloodbath is supposed to be. Back and forth, both men wearing the crimson mask, exerting all of their energy to pull out a victory of pride. This went for over 20 minutes, Jericho and Orton pushing themselves to the limits and making great use out of the cell. When all was said and done though, it was Orton fighting out of the Walls of Jericho that would make the difference before he was able to hit the R.K.O. It took him a few moments to crawl over to make the cover, and Jericho was too spent to kick out.

[Hell in a Cell]:
Randy Orton pinned Chris Jericho with the R.K.O. in 0:22:33.
Rating: **** 1/2

This was a bloody fantastic fight, and it's a shame that somebody had to come out on the losing end of the stick. Though Jericho was defeated, he has nothing to be ashamed of and if anything, this match boosts his stock. And give Randy Orton all the credit in the world. He gets the reputation of being a pretty boy, but he brought it to the table tonight and won a fight.

Match #9
Abyss vs. John Bradshaw Layfield (w/ Lamont)
The theme for the night so far as been hard-hitting brawls, and when a match features Abyss and John Bradshaw Layfield, it's hard not to expect the same. The opening of the match featured Abyss champing at the bit to get a hold of JBL and JBL doing everything in his power to keep his distance from the behemoth. Not long into the match, RHYNO came down to the ring, apparently hired by JBL as a little insurance policy. THE HURRICANE came out in Abyss' corner to even the score. As the match wore on, JBL got on the advantage after interference from Rhyno. Abyss continued to kick out of everything JBL did, which is when he got flustered. With Lamont distracting referee Antonio Santangelo, Rhyno grabbed a chair with the intention of hitting Abyss with it in the ring. The Hurricane interjected, grabbing the chair away from Rhyno. Rhyno responded with a hard right hand and set the Man In Green up for the Gore, but The Hurricane leap frogged over it and Rhyno connected with the steel steps! Meanwhile in the ring, JBL had pulled a chain out of his trunks and wrapped it around his fist. He went to punch Abyss, but Abyss ducked and hit the Black Hole Slam! Abyss grabbed the chain and gave JBL one more shot for good measure, putting this one away.

Abyss pinned John Bradshaw Layfield after hitting him with a chain in 0:07:05.
Rating: *** 1/4

JBL put off this match for as long as he could, and upon the result of it, we can see why. Abyss is a monster, no doubt about it, and it's hard to imagine anyone being able to slow this behemoth down. With a support system like The Hurricane and his pure raw power, there's no telling how far Abyss can go in GCW.

RANDY ORTON MAKES A CHALLENGE
We had a brief word with Randy Orton next, who was with his father Bob Orton Jr. Orton was all wrapped up and had a large bandage on his forehead after the brutality of Hell in a Cell earlier, but no amount of injuries are going to keep Orton from being the arrogant jerk that he is. Orton said that he was challenging the winner of our main event, whether it be Kurt Angle or Brock Lesnar, and he wants it to be for the World Heavyweight Title. He cited that his time is now and he doesn't care who the champ is because it is his destiny to take the gold.

KURT ANGLE WANTS TO DO THIS ALONE
Just before making his way to the ring for the main event, Kurt Angle was stopped by his brother Eric. Eric told Kurt that he was going to make sure that Kurt kept the World Heavyweight Title tonight "no matter what it takes." Kurt firmly rejected the offer, saying that this was something he had to do himself, and that he didn't need the help of anybody. Kurt left Eric without a goodbye, and Eric looked hurt that his brother would so flippantly brush him aside like that. Either way, Eric promised not to get involved.

Match #10
MAIN EVENT
World Heavyweight Title Match
Kurt Angle (c) vs. Brock Lesnar
We had one more to go, and it was the biggest match in GCW's short history. Two of the most decorated athletes in the wrestling world locking up one-on-one with the biggest prize in the game at stake. On one side, Brock Lesnar, who earned this chance by winning Deadly Draw back in April after returning from a torn right triceps muscle. Kurt Angle is the current and reigning two-time World Heavyweight champion, and one of the most decorated American athletes ever, winning the gold medal in 1996. Now Angle and Lesnar have faced off a few times in GCW rings before, but never without controversy. This was the match that everyone has been waiting for, to see who truly is the better man, and what better stage than the main event of the biggest show in wrestling.

The atmosphere in the building was electric for this one, and rightfully so. Though Angle has been accused of running scared from Lesnar for months now, if he was scared, he did a good job of hiding it. This match was two of the best doing what they do best. The match kicked off with a great back and forth display of mat wrestling, primarily with Lesnar ending up on the advantage of the exchanges. As Angle kept losing these exchanges, he was more pushed to use non-mat wrestling to get the advantage. Angle broke this into more of a professional wrestling match when he caught Lesnar with a German suplex. The hardest thing about preparing for a match with an athlete the caliber of Brock Lesnar is that he has so few weakness - he does everything well. He was out mat wrestling Angle, and when this got to be of the pro style, he was outdoing him in that as well. Angle got the advantage when he got out of the way of a charge from Lesnar, causing the Monster From Minnesota to smash his right shoulder on the ring post.

At this point, Angle showed a ruthless side we haven't seen too often, maliciously tearing away at Lesnar's previously injured right arm and ribs. Lesnar being the physical specimen that he is was able to defend himself, but Angle is a wrestling machine and when he saw the blood in the water, he pounced. The tide turned again when Angle went to put Lesnar through the announce table with an Angle Slam, but Lesnar got out and gave the champ an overhead belly-to-belly suplex onto the table. Angle's body didn't go through the table, but instead bounced off and into the guardrail. It was a nasty bump, and one that will be replayed for quite some time.

From here, the match became more about survival. Each man tried to hit the big move to put the other away, and as the crowd counted along with every nearfall, the situation became more and more tense. Angle got the Ankle Lock on a couple of times, but he was never able to sink it in fully without Lesnar kicking him off or getting to the ropes. During a period of offense from Angle, Lesnar showed he wasn't out of the fight yet when he hit the F-5 out of nowhere, but he was too tired to make a cover right away. When he finally did make the cover, Angle got his shoulder up in the nick of time. An eye gouge got Angle the advantage again soon after and he put Lesnar up top for a superplex. When he got up there though, Lesnar threw him down to the canvas. Lesnar then climbed and perched on the top turnbuckle as the Staples Center was on its feet in anticipation. Lesnar jumped off with the biggest shooting star press I have ever seen, but Angle got his knees up. Angle suffered a bit of damage himself because he had 290 pounds come crashing down on his knees, but Lesnar appeared to get the worst of it. Angle then called for the Ankle Lock one more time and locked it on. Lesnar kicked him away, but Angle held on. Lesnar tried again, but Angle was like a pitbull refusing to let go. Lesnar eventually dragged himself over to the ropes and pulled himself to a vertical base, Angle still having a hold of his ankle. Lesnar let out a primal scream and with his last burst of energy, pulled Angle in and hit the F-5 for the second time! Lesnar collapsed onto Angle and got the one..... two.............. THREE! We have a brand new World Heavyweight champion!

Brock Lesnar pinned Kurt Angle with the F-5 in 0:28:38.
Rating: *****
(Brock Lesnar won the GCW World Heavyweight Title.)

The fans blew the roof off the building with their cheers as Brock Lesnar became the fourth World Heavyweight champion in Global Championship Wrestling! Referee Jimmy Appleseed handed an exhausted Brock Lesnar his championship and raised his hand. Lesnar took a long hard look at the gold before raising it high above his head to a standing ovation. The show came to an end with Lesnar standing on the turnbuckle, belt high above his head, fireworks going off. What an ending to a fantastic night!

So Eddie got up from a sledge shot just to take the SCM? :)
Snabbit888Posted on 05/06/06 at 17:17:10

The way I envisioned it is he got hit, which bounced him into the ropes and then took the SCM.  He didn't get knocked out and then get back up.  He was sort of out on his feet, but the ropes kept him upright long enough for HBK to nail him.  Ass. :)

WOOOOOOOOO!!!

Nice, Doane lost. I have no idea what I have against Ken othe than the feeling that he's being pushed to the moon right away. It's the Rocky Complex. That and O'Haire rocks my socks.

Wow, we open with THIS match? Grr to the end of the match but NICE to the end of the segment! Gee, wonder if this feud is over... ;)

Yeeah, Benoit dominates! Okay, I kinda had a feeling the Nancy thing was coming. I was kind of thinking it all along b/c Benoit did something selfish like that, but it's still a great way to cap off this huge feud. Nice job!!

Another quality match, Ryan. You truly are the king. Happy Matt retained and got some revenge on Lita. Matt's a quality character... should be interesting to see where he goes from here.

Wow, great match, deserving of this angle. Guerrero got plastered and deserved to lose the match... you have to think Eddie-Foley is coming soon.

Nooo, not Star Quality! LoL, I'd be happy to bring them into UW ;) ... Surprising that Ki and Skipper got the duke. How long'll they have to wait? I'm guessing a long time. This doesn't change my prediction on the tag title match tonight...

I know who my guess is for Lance's opponent... wish I could say I'm sorry to see Lance go, but other than the recent Shark Boy escapades, I'm meh about it.

Wow, didn't see Rey winning the gold there. Good choice for the final three, though I thought Kazarian would be there in the end. Nice match though.

Yeeeeah, Goldust ain't gonna take it anymore! Kinda disappointing, seeing as I really wanted BookDust to get the gold awhile ago, but good progression of the relationship, and the WGTT retains! Bonus!

Orton wins, as he should have. Looks like the rumors that Y2J may be on his way out could be true. Orton's gotta be tops on the contenders list after this win. Which leads me to believe that...

Whoops, thought the main event was next. Yay Abyss wins! I like Abyss in the face role... I dunno how many other writers could pull it off like you.

Wow, Angle didn't want Eric helping out. I guess that was the impact he wanted to make tonight, but again... lost in the shuffle :'( ... aaand Lesnar wins! Definite match of the year candidate. Probably the winner already but well-deserved if it happens. And I agree with mamushi, it's gonna be awhile before we see Lesnar without the gold...

GREAT great show, Ryan!
Snabbit888Posted on 05/06/06 at 18:00:37

Don't worry, Matteus.  Eric Angle is not going anywhere any time soon.  Sure, he's getting a bit lost in the shuffle, but you have to understand he IS Eric Angle.  He should be highly thankful he's gotten the push he has. ;)

Huzzah! SuperCade II is finally here!

A little disappointed that the first match ended in a double countout. I was gunning for Punk to take down the Alpha male. Bet they aren't through with each other though.

Benoit beats Bradley thoroughly (as he should), but then Nancy wants  DIVORCE? Holy cow.. how will Benoit wrestle with this?

Matt sends his brother packing. Wonder where this leaves Lita. The Prophecy is a man short, perhaps the returning Christopher Daniels will replace him? The "will not miss any time" thing was edited by you? right? Or is it an easter egg I've missed?

HBK and Latino Heat with the sleeper match of the night, great match description. Heels always lose when there's a face guest referee. Why do the never learn  ;D

Rey wins the cruiserweight belt! I'm ecstatic. Somehow I thought for a while that Red would win. An AJ Styles heel-turn for a Rey feud would be awesome.

Loved the Angle promo. Interneet geeks. That's us, right?  ;)

Lesnar wins. Oh well, it was in the cards.

Great show!
Snabbit888Posted on 05/07/06 at 19:14:44

Yes, the "will not miss any time" thing was an edit by me.  TNM said out one card, but as I am GCW God, I decided that the injury didn't necessitate missing any action. :)
djmasterscooterPosted on 05/07/06 at 20:04:34

Awesome as usual.  Lesnar went over, and a good thing too.

I hope the Double Counout leads CM Punk to a World Title Match.

Jeff Hardy is gone!  Hooray!!!  This title reign of Matt's gives him something to do until he gets his chance at Lesnar =P (I can dream!!)

Benoit & Divorce? Definitely some creative ideas coming through.  Does this mean Nancy will be backing someone else?  Can't wait to find out.

Guerrero & Michaels = Classic.  Always.  I did the same thing in my circuit (put them in a match) and it always comes out great.  It's a shame though.  I must say that if Foley comes back for a match or two, it wouldn't be bad.

Rey-Rey wins the Cruiserweight belt.  Awesome.  Can't beat that.

And Orton?  This, I assume, makes Orton the No. 1 Contender?  It better have, after a match like that.

But where does this leave Angle after the main event?

Keep it up.  Great work.
Snabbit888Posted on 05/07/06 at 20:21:02

Thank you for the kind words.  In the immediate future, Nancy Benoit will not be on TV.  I didn't want her to be around permanently, and her asking for a divorce based on Benoit puting her in harm's way gives the Crippler motivation going into his future stuff.
CrplsPosted on 05/08/06 at 06:05:33

I liked the card overall, but I'm far too lazy to make comments on each individual match. Other than nitpicking at the possible overbooking of HBK-Eddy. :P

The main event brings up one problem with TNM circuits. Brock winning the title was as predictable as Brock-Kurt at WM was. But at least in real life you have the visual stimulation of the 20+ min match to look forward too. Not that the write up of the match was bad or anything, but sometimes in TNM circuits I almost want to see swerves for swerves sake. Of course, TNM circuits should first and foremost be about what you want to do, but anyway. :)

-Ah, CM Punk didnt pick up the win? I was rootin for him too... but this feud is far from over, cuz Punk didnt win.

-If Benoit lost, I would have... probably, eaten... my hard drive... yeah... DIVORCE???

-Matt has sent his own brother home, hanging him dry. This couldnt possibly be because of backstage drug problems... could it? But yeah, this does leave a spot open in the Prophecy... Mordecai?

-Ah, Lesnar vs Angle! Can't wait...

-Over a year since in the ring, and no outstanding ring rust. Good finish too.

-Big ups for Low-Ki and Skipper, one of my personal favorite teams.

-Depressing segment, Storm gone. I just hope it doesnt carry into real life...

-Rey Rey wins the Cruiser title. Nice match, not to interested into Rey tho. (Personal matters), Its just me.

-WGTT (TWIGGIT!!!) picks up the win... good match. LOL... Goldust. The guy cracks me up...

-RKO!!! Orton picks up the win!!! Hail yeah!

-Abyss, and JBL put up a match better than ***? Wow, only you can get away with it Ryan... if I tried that, I'd prolly be booted from the forums for such a crappy match... lol. Good finish, Abyss bein hardocre with the chain!

-As I expected, an amazing match! Lesnar picks up gold! Lesnar is awesome, and I hope this feud is far, far, FAR from over.

-Awesome card brother, as ALI G would say...

"RESPECT"  ;D

It's part of the deal, I guess.  By nature, anything in a TNM circuit isn't going to be as cool because you don't have the visual thing to see.  You have to use your imagination to understand how cool Angle vs. Lesnar was. :)
