UW No Justice (4/29/05)

Dark Match:
Mikey Batts pinned Super Crazy with the Batts Beater in 9:02.
Rating: **
[Damaja interfered against Super Crazy.]

Welcome UW fans to the return of Unlimited Wrestling to pay-per-view! We're coming at you live from Hartford, CT and tonight is sure to be a huge night! Chavo Guerrero is looking for revenge for the harsh suggestions Sean O'Haire had for him last Monday night. And we'll see if JBL and Doug Basham can survive the odds in a handicap match against John Cena, OJ, and Damaja! Edge was cost an opportunity to wrestle for the North American title, and he'll look to take his aggression out on the man who cost him that shot, Team Canada's Eric Young! Speaking of the NA title, the champ will defend his belt in a rematch with Petey Williams, and Edge is banned from interfering! Generation Next has quickly become a thorn in the side of The Alpha Male, but Monty Brown can't get his hands on Gregory Helms unless he can get through Alex Shelley tonight. And Limited Edition has been told by Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro that they're old news and they can't get it done on the big stage. MNM stole a cheap win from the tag team champs last Monday, but can Dinsmore and Conway prove them wrong tonight? And in light of Jeff Jarrett's injury last Monday, Booker T, Triple H, and Randy Orton will face off for the vacant UW World title! Who will leave Hartford with the big gold belt? We'll find out soon enough, but we're starting off tonight's event with a bonus match that was just announced tonight!

Paul London and Brian Kendrick vs. "Cocky" Sonny Siaki and "Superstar" Steven Richards

Siaki and Richards at first seemed like a very makeshift tag team, and perhaps still do, but after making Team Canada's Bobby Roode and Eric Young fight for 21 minutes to defeat them last Monday, the fans are starting to turn around on this team. They took the fight to the more experienced team of London and Kendrick from the beginning, focusing their attack on grounding Brian Kendrick and working on his neck. Anytime it seemed Kendrick would make the hot tag, Siaki and Richards would capitalize and stop him from doing so, but their arrogance caught them when Richards grabbed a leaping Kendrick by the leg and picked him up only to be hit with an enzuguiri! Kendrick made the tag and Siaki rushes him as we have our first bonzo gonzo moment of the night! Siaki and London were the legal men, and Richards and Kendrick took the fight outside. Richards nailed Kendrick with a Stevie-T outside and rushed back in where Siaki was stomping away at Paul London. Stevie joined him in the assault as the ref tried to break it up, but Siaki shoved the ref and they were disqualified!

Paul London and Brian Kendrick defeated Sonny Siaki and Steven Richards when P. London defeated Siaki by disqualification in 9:50.
Rating: ** 1/2

After they planted London to the mat with a Stevie Kick and the Siakilypse NOW, Richards took the mic and said that they are not going to let anyone tell them they didn't belong in the tag division. Tonight was a message for all the other teams in UW. "Cocky" Sonny Siaki and "Superstar" Steven Richards aren't push-overs anymore, they are Major League.

We see a clip from last Monday where Sean O'Haire told him that Eddie would want Chavo to turn his back on his own fans and Chavo responded by getting into a fist-fight with O'Haire!

Chavo Guerrero vs. Sean O'Haire

Chavo came into this match with a head-of-steam and that played right into O'Haire's plans as he allowed Chavo to take him out right away, only to have Chavo make a mistake when he tried to powerslam O'Haire. He wasn't strong enough to do it without the proper momentum, but he obviously wasn't thinking straight this entire match and O'Haire planted him with a lariat. O'Haire essentially owned him for the rest of the match, taking time to talk down to Chavo throughout, making his point about the fans to him. The fans kept chanting "Eddie! Eddie!" to get Chavo out of his funk, but O'Haire dominated him. In the end, Sean started choking Chavo and yelling "listen to them!" at Chavo! The ref counted and counted, but O'Haire just kept choking and screaming.

Chavo Guerrero defeated Sean O'Haire by disqualification in 7:42.
Rating: **

Chavo was out cold, but Sean O'Haire would not let go! The UW Squad came and tried to break his grip, but it took all their strength to do so. O'Haire got up with a sadistic smile on his face as he walked away. Medics attended to a blue-in-the-face Chavo.

Backstage, Josh Mathews caught up with Edge, who had some dire words for Team Canada. He said that tonight he'd take his revenge out on Eric Young for costing him a shot at the North American title. And later, he'll have a close eye on Petey Williams' match. He's banned from interfering, and he'll stay away. But he has a surprise for Petey after the match...

The troubles between John Cena, Orlando Jordan and John Bradshaw Layfield are reviewed next, showing the viewers how Cena helped Jordan win a NA title shot against then-champion JBL and JBL attacking OJ for his insubordination. And we see how the former Basham Brothers came to be on opposite sides of the mess after JBL let them go. JBL and Basham have outsmarted their opponents the past two weeks leading up to No Justice, but now all five men will be in the same ring for the first time.

Handicap Match:
John Cena, Orlando Jordan, and Damaja vs. John Bradshaw Layfield and "The Machine" Doug Basham

This was promised not to be one for the ages, but it was damn sure going to be a fight. JBL insisted that Basham start the match, much to Doug's protest. He tied up with Jordan and was quickly at a disadvantage. Jordan and Cena took turns wailing away at Basham before finally tagging in his former tag partner Damaja! This was the first time these two would meet in a UW ring officially, and Damaja was not about to be denied his revenge for being attacked by him and JBL two weeks ago. After taking him out with the Brain Damage, he covered him and the ref counted: one... two... and he pulled him up by the hair! So much for The Machine growing his hair out being a good thing. He threw Basham into the corner and begged JBL to tag him in, but Layfield refused! He dropped off the ring apron and applauded Basham, saying he had them right where he wanted them. Damaja tagged Orlando back in and he hit Basham with the Black Ice. Then it was John Cena's turn. Cena nailed The Machine with the shoulderblock, sitout hiptoss, side suplex into powerbomb, Five Knuckle Shuffle, and then gave the sign for the F-U. He pumped up his sneakers and delivered the F-U to The Machine! He hooked on the STFU and the fans started going nuts! The ref went to ask Basham, but JBL made the save and "accidentally" bumped the ref. With the ref out, he attacked Jordan and Damaja in the corner and went outside to grab a steel chair. The sides were suddenly even and JBL went to work on all three with the chair, bashing them again and again with it. He brought Damaja into the ring and nailed him with the Clothesline From Hell! With everyone down, he revived the ref and covered Damaja for the pinfall.

John Bradshaw Layfield and Doug Basham defeated Damaja, John Cena, and Orlando Jordan when JBL pinned Damaja with the Clothesline From Hell in 22:28.
Rating: ** 1/4

JBL sneaks a victory out from nowhere after letting Doug Basham do all the work in the match! He revived a barely conscious Basham and helped him to the ramp. Cena, Jordan, and Damaja were all still laid out in the ring... the only one who looked to be conscious at all was JBL! Layfield outsmarted everyone tonight, but there will certainly be hell to pay soon enough.

The Alpha Male is backstage preparing for his match, and Booker T walks into the locker room. He wishes Brown luck next and says that if he ever needs someone to watch his back, Booker's there for him. The Alpha Male thanked him but said that after tonight, Booker won't be making that offer. If he walks out of Hartford with the World title, Brown is simply going to PUT him on his back with the POUNCE... period.

"Showtime" Eric Young vs. "The Rated R Superstar" Edge

For the bad blood between Edge and Team Canada, Young and Edge fought this one by the books the entire way. Both are very technically gifted athletes, and after a few tie-ups, Young took the upper hand. But Edge would gain it back after Young missed a legdrop from the top rope. Edge hit his signature moves but Young would not stay down! He fought back and actually almost beat Edge with a small package but only got two. Edge bounced back with a thumb to the eye and hit a sunset flip on Young, using the ropes for leverage as the ref counted the pinfall!

Edge pinned Eric Young after a sunset flip in 5:40.
Rating: ** 1/2

Young was fuming after the match, and Edge went back very satisfied with his win.

One night, eight men, one king. UW presents Kingdom Come, live on pay-per-view June 24th from Dallas, Texas! Order now!

Josh Mathews is backstage with Randy Orton, and the Legend Killer says that tonight isn't about killing legends, it's all about the UW World title. And when he wins the gold tonight he'll BECOME legendary. He starts running down Triple H and then Booker T, but before he gets too far he's interrupted... by Sean O'Haire. O'Haire reminds him that he still owes him that favor for Pick Your Poison, and Orton's going to pay him back tomorrow night. Orton said he remembered the deal and he knows what to do. O'Haire nods and walks away. Orton looks like he's got a major case of the heebie jeebies as we cut away.

"The Alpha Male" Monty Brown vs. "The Next" Alex Shelley

Well Shelley came into this match with his opponent well-scouted as usual. Anytime Brown went for a powerslam, he'd hit an armdrag. He prevented Brown from hitting him with a gorilla press slam and knew just when the Pounce was coming. Although he played the hunted for the beginning of the match, he reversed a powerbomb attempt into a hurracanrana and covered for two. He tried going high-risk and succeeded nailing Brown with a high cross bodyblock for two and a half. But high-risk isn't always high-reward, as Shelley found out when he went up for another cross body and Brown caught him and powerslammed him to the mat. He picked Alex up and whipped him into the ropes, nailing him with the Pounce and that was all she wrote. Period.

Monty Brown pinned Alex Shelley with the Pounce in 8:57.
Rating: ***

Shelley had a great showing, but the Alpha Male was determined and strength prevailed this time around. Brown motioned to the back and made a throat-slashing gesture. You have to wonder who exactly that was directed to, Gregory Shane Helms or Booker T?

The North American champion Shelton Benjamin finally confronted Petey Williams backstage while he was taping up his wrists. Benjamin told him that he's looking forward to beating Petey's ass all by himself tonight, no outside interference. Williams told him that even if Edge came down, nothing would stop him from winning the NA title tonight. They shared an intense staredown moment and we cut away.

UW North American Title:
Shelton Benjamin (c) vs. Petey Williams

Petey came into this match looking to take the gold, but Shelton came in with something to prove to Petey, the fans, and himself. The two were evenly-matched to open things up, and Shelton rocked Williams with a Dragon Whip for one early. Petey started focusing on the neck of Benjamin and held him in a modified STF for a full minute before Shelton could make it to the ropes. Petey came off the top with a double axehandle to the head, but Benjamin caught him in the T-Bone and went for the cover! One... two... THR--NO, he kicked out! The NA champ whipped Petey into the turnbuckle and nailed him with the Blinger Splash! He caught Williams on the rebound and nailed him with another T-Bone as the ref counted again: one... two... THREE! This one's over, Benjamin retains!

Shelton Benjamin pinned Petey Williams with the T-Bone in 6:47.
Rating: ** 3/4
(Shelton Benjamin retained the UW North American Title.)

Shelton Benjamin celebrated his victory and left the ring to a huge ovation. As Petey came to, he looked somewhat dejected but knew he'd been bested for the night. He started getting up, but a man in a hooded sweatshirt and a Calgary Flames hockey jersey jumped the crowd barrier and started attacking him! He hit the already-exhausted Williams with a flurry of punches and finally locked him in a Sharpshooter! Petey was writhing in pain and the man threw back his hood...

..it's TEDDY HART! Petey's former tag team partner and Team Canada member is back in UW! But Petey beat him last year in a loser-leaves-UW match! Teddy finally let go of the hold and spit on Petey. He walked to the corner and picked up a clipboard and promptly signed whatever was on the paper. He dropped it on Petey's limp body and walked away to a chorus of boos...

Triple H is readying himself in the back. No interview, not a word spoken. Just Triple H lacing up his boots. You know it's intense...

A video is shown of the Limited Edition-MNM feud, including MNM calling rhem out before on the first Fury, Dinsmore and Conway winning the gold in a four-corners match, MNM defeating London and Kendrick to earn this title shot, and last Monday where Mercury hit Conway with his own title belt and pinned him in a six-man tag match.

UW World Tag Team Titles:
Limited Edition (c) vs. MNM (w/ Melina)

It didn't take long for Dinsmore and Conway to clear the ring and show their dominance over MNM, tossing them from the ring early on. Nitro and Mercury conferred with Melina and went back into the ring, only to be dominated further by Dinsmore's technical ability and Conway's strength. Melina had finally seen enough and got herself involved, jumping on the apron after Conway had hit the Ego Trip, forcing him to withdraw the cover. As he came up on her, she jumped down and when he turned around he was met by a clothesline from Mercury sending him crashing to the floor! Mercury made Dinsmore come into the ring by shoving him and Nitro and Melina starting putting the boots to Conway. Mercury and Nitro pulled every trick they could to keep Conway in the ring, choking him with the tag rope, blind tagging in and out and double teaming wherever they could. Conway finally gained the upper hand by ducking a Mercury clothesline and hitting him with a flying forearm! Mercury got the tag first, but Dinsmore tagged himself in right afterwards and went all house-of-fire on MNM! He hit his finisher, a German Suplex on Nitro and the ref counted one... two... Mercury broke the count! Dinsmore chased after Mercury as Conway blind-tagged himself in and went after Nitro. Conway was noticably tired having worked most of the match and Johnny took advantage of this, hitting Conway with a low blow with the referee distracted and hitting the Coup de Grace! The ref counted: one... two... three!

MNM (Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro) defeated Limited Edition (Nick Dinsmore and Rob Conway) when Nitro pinned R. Conway after the Coup de Grace in 25:40.
Rating: *** 1/4
(MNM won the UW World Tag Team Titles.)

We have brand new World Tag Team champions! Melina grabbed the belts and bolted for the entrance ramp. Nitro and Mercury held their new belts high as they laughed it up with Melina. Dinsmore tended to his fallen partner and looked on in anger.

We have a three-way split-screen of Booker T, Triple H, and Randy Orton walking toward the ring for the main event... which is NOW!

UW World Title Triple Threat Match:
Booker T vs. "The Game" Triple H vs. "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton

This was for all the marbles, and these three men wrestled as if it were their last night in the company, tooth-and-nail until the very end. Triple H and Randy Orton started out by default, attacking each other upon sight, but Book was happy to sit out the beginning and let them beat the hell out of one another, which they certainly did. Hunter owned him early, but the opportunistic Orton hit him with a thumb to the eye to end his momentum. Instead of capitalizing on the opportunity, however, he rushed to the corner and tagged in Booker T! Book looked surprised, but went to work on a blinded Triple H anyway, wearing him down with many a chinlock. He hit a huge Soviet suplex for two and kept hammering away with forearms to the back o Trips' neck. More chinlock action, but Hunter fought his way out and caught Booker with his many various knees to the faces of dooms! Sorry, got carried away. He whipped Booker into the ropes, but Book reversed it and ducked his head, but Triple H took this opportunity and hit him with the Pedigree! He made the cover: one... two...

... and Randy Orton made the save! Randy started beating on Hunter and kicking the hell out of him when the ref escorted him out. Booker made the tag to Orton and the Legend Killer started taking advantage of his fallen prey. He tossed him outside and started battering on him out there before sliding him back in and covering him for two and a half. He went back to work on Hunter's neck, hitting his chinlock backbreaker and getting two. He tossed Hunter into the ropes and Trips blind tagged Booker into the ring! Randy caught Hunter with a spinebuster, but when he made the cover the ref wouldn't count! Booker snuck up behind and nailed Orton with the Scissor Kick! Hunter's out, this could be it! One... two...

...Orton gets his foot in the ropes! That was too close for comfort. All three men were worn out by this point and the ref had lost control. All three back to a vertical base and Triple H and Book went after Randy! Orton took a beating but finally was able to hit Booker with a low blow. Book fell outside the ring and Triple H and Orton went at it. Trips threw Orton into the ropes and attempted a clothesline, but Orton ducked and hit an RKO out of nowhere! He made the cover: one... two...

...thr-KICKOUT! Triple H kicked out! Orton got back up and hit him with a low blow while the ref wasn't looking! He ran to the ropes and Triple H caught him with a kick to the gut! He hooks his arms and nails the Pedigree! He makes the cover and the ref counts: one... two... Booker leaps across the ring...

... THREE! It's over! Triple H wins it!

Triple H defeated Booker T and Randy Orton when Triple H pinned R. Orton with the Pedigree in 15:44.
(Triple H won the UW World Title.)
Rating: *** 3/4

We have a new World champion and for the third time in UW history it's Triple H! He received the big gold belt and held it high, when Booker T grabbed him by the shoulder and spun him around. He looked dead in his eye, and then at the belt near his waist. He told him congratulations and shook his hand, but you could tell that he was letting Trips know that he wasn't through with Book yet. Orton slithered out of the ring, barely conscious, and Trips continued his celebration!

After the highlight reel for the night, that's it, show's over! Good night everybody! See you Monday for Fury!

Yay!  UW is becoming one of my favorite circuits (your not using a ruleset helps :)).  I'm pumped about this PPV.  Here we go!

Was very surprised by the opening match... figured London/Kendrick would win, but Siaki and Richards were definitely the team that were put over.  No problems with that, especially if this turns into a feud between the two teams.  I like both teams, so a good if not surprising opening match.

Not thrilled about two DQs to kick out a PPV, but this Chavo/O'Haire thing could be very interesting.  You have me taking the bait on it; now let's see if you can reel me in.

I'm not a huge huge fan of handicap matches usually.  It's one of those things that unless done right, everyone looks bad.  If the team with more guys win, well, duh, they had more guys.  They should have won.  If the team with less guys wins, it just makes the team with more look bad because they couldn't win even with an advantage.  I like JBL making Doug Basham do all the work.  I just think the match went on too long for me to fully buy it though.  I like the JBL character though, so it was a good finish regardless.

Okay... is Edge heel or face?  He comes off more as a face, but he won in a heel fashion.  Right man won, just think it should have been with a little more impact behind the win.

Brown wins a match he was obviously going to win, but I'm glad Shelley didn't get buried either.  The Booker/Brown pseudo tension was nice too.

Not a good night for Petey Williams... Shelton retains, and Teddy Hart returns to beat his ass.  When it rains, it pours...

MNM rules way too much to not be the tag champs, so I'm glad you made the right decision. :)

Great main event... I think the right guy won.  Nice way to end the show.

Do you have like a past title history you could post for UW?  I mark hard for that kind of stuff. :)

Why thank you ;D

Not thrilled about two DQs to kick out a PPV, but this Chavo/O'Haire thing could be very interesting.
YOU'RE not thrilled? Imagine my surprise when I realized that after I finished the second match. (Matt at that moment: "Wait... I... wha? Dammit.") It'll all lead to better things though, I do promise...

Okay... is Edge heel or face? He comes off more as a face, but he won in a heel fashion.
Edge is a heel. It's hard to envision Petey and Team Canada as faces, but I put up some of the backstory on Petey a few cards back (come on, Ryan put SOME effort into it ;)) ... I'll edit you a link after this.

EDIT:
Here's the link (http://www.tnm7.de/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=tnmcircs;action=display;num=1144729532), after reading it and looking at my past cards I can see where you'd be confused. Rest assured Petey and company are the faces and Edge is the egomaniacal heel with a mad-on for Team Canada. But... um... let's say I meant to keep it ambiguous. For my ego's sake ;)

MNM rules way too much to not be the tag champs, so I'm glad you made the right decision. :)
Agreed... let's never fight again :-[[quote]Do you have like a past title history you could post for UW? I mark hard for that kind of stuff. :)/quote]

Yeah, actually I do. It's nothing terribly long, but if I have time I'll post it tomorrow. Otherwise you're SOL... or I'll post it Sunday or something, whatever ::)
JustinPosted on 04/28/06 at 15:14:46

Once again...top notch show.

So i only got like 3 of my picks right. I like being surprised.

one too many promos for Kingdom Come. I'm looking forward to it but they just seemed like too much filler.

Still way into the O'Haire/Chavo & Orton/O'Haire stuff. Gotta see how it all plays out.

Keep it up, you got me hooked.
MatteusPosted on 04/28/06 at 15:27:21

Thanks Justin!

LoL have you ever read Matt Harms' NAWA? I love it, he puts the promos in for his next PPV (like twice as many as mine) and it's just like it is in real life... he hypes the hell out of it. I kinda took my inrpiration from that, but your comment is duly noted :)

As a side note, Ryan got every match right. I'm shocked he hasn't started bragging yet ::)

--Matt
Snabbit888Posted on 04/28/06 at 16:06:38

*brags thoroughly and inappropriately*
MatteusPosted on 04/28/06 at 16:29:16

Alright Ryan... because I like ya, and you said you'd mark out hard for it... I'm gonna link you to my old website for UW when it was GOING to become NWA Unlimited.

http://geocities.com/colmatteus/

BUT... if the website format looks familiar, it's because Ididn't know how to do HTML text at the time and I was strapped for time to learn so I copied GCW's website ::) ... I never intended to show anybody but my brother (who does TNM too), so hopefully you don't mind. I experimented with a lot of different styles in the write-ups, so it's kinda all over the place. But you can check out old results and angles there as well as title histories.

Let me know what you think :)
Snabbit888Posted on 04/28/06 at 16:33:59

Nah, I don't mind.  My HTML is so basic that I couldn't even accuse anyone of copying it. :)  But yay, very cool.
rey619Posted on 05/02/06 at 15:45:05

What the heck is a bonzo gonzo moment??

You do have a fair share of dq matches, but at least you're good at turning them into plausible angles. Personally I dislike dq and countout finishes.

Seems like the King of the Ring fad reaches the UW world as well. Not that I have a problem with it, I dig tournaments. I think this may be the time to elevate some of your "normal main-eventers" to main event status. Edge, perhaps?

Great to see Eric Young in singles competition on a PPV, even though he lost. Young is such a great guy.

I don't like either Shelley or Brown, but I guess the right man won.

Teddy Hart is more popular in the TNM community than in the real world.

Triple H won as I predicted it, good call ;)

Nice PPV, should be interesting to see the fallout from this.
MatteusPosted on 05/02/06 at 15:58:29

LoL, Bonzo Gonzo is that moment in a tag team match where all rules go out the window, usually after the faces make a hot tag and takes out the bad guys. It's a wink at my favorite (former) wrestling internet columnist, Scott Keith.
