Unlimited Wrestling (READ BEFORE FURY!) :-)

I posted this awhile ago with the intention of posting my circuit here. I never got around to it, but after deferring a semester, I've decided not to better myself in my free time and instead get back into my circuit and post again! This was written awhile ago, but I've updated a lot and wanted to give you some backstory as to what I'm doing.

The Set-up:

RAW and SD! redrafted sometime in 2004. In February 2005, RAW became the Unlimited Wrestling Association and SD! became a reborn, mainstream ECW.

In June '05, when UWA declared a temporary partnership with TNA Wrestling in which TNA would be allowed one "Showcase Match" on UWA television per week. This was precipitated by an event occurring just a night before at the PPV UWA Surge, where AJ Styles arrived unannounced and defended (and lost) his TNA X Title to UWA wrestler Chris Sabin. NWA World champion Jeff Jarrett defended his title on UWA TV successfully, and the next week (7/11/05) the current UWA World champion Triple H took exception to this, declaring his title to be the only one of importance. He challenged Jarrett to a title vs. title match right that night, and Jarrett accepted. Hunter and Jarrett surprisingly tore the house down (*** 1/2) but in the end, a masked man came out and clubbed Hunter in the knee with a lead pipe as he went for the Pedigree! This allowed Jarrett to recover and hit the Stroke to win the match and the belts!

Unknown to the audience at the time, then-UWA president Colin Matteus had purchased stock in the UWA from under Vince McMahon using numerous minor organizations he had established and became the majority shareholder of the organization. He made a deal with TNA to give up rights to the NWA World Heavyweight and NWA World Tag Team titles they owned the rights to until 2014. Once the NWA found out about this, they cried foul and threatened to sue the UWA for all they had. UWA ceased operations and in a long-drawn out legal negotiation, rescinded their right to the titles. No lawsuit was issued.

Now Matteus is starting the fed up again as Unlimited Wrestling (UW). A few of the wrestlers who were a part of the organization prior are no longer with us, as Kurt Angle and Billy Kidman have retired and Eddie Guerrero, was tragically taken from us during the hiatus. Also, Chris Jericho retired from active wrestling to tour with Fozzy.

The Storylines:

Booker T defeated Edge in a 90-minute Iron Man Challenge (it's basically a best-of series but with Iron Man matches and you keep score by overall falls rather than wins) to become the top contender to the UW World title before the hiatus. In the final match of the Challenge, Edge was joined by Team Canada and as we later found out, had joined the self-proclaimed forces of Canadian elite. During the hiatus, however, Team Canada toured together in the indies and enjoyed tremendous success. Edge's ego began to grow to big for the group as they won and won, and he finally snapped and attacked Petey Williams, Bobby Roode, and Eric Young at a show in Dayton, Ohio. All four men are on the UW roster still and I'm sure none of them have forgotten.

Orlando Jordan had been on fire in UW as well, recording victories against Kurt Angle (twice), Brock Lesnar, Booker T, and others. As a member of JBL, Inc. along with The Bashams, he began to defy JBL and refuse to interfere in his matches. Obviously, this annoyed JBL, who began to question OJ's loyalty. With the help of new-found mate (and JBL's nemesis) John Cena, Jordan defeated Sean O'Haire in a Top Contenders match to earn a title shot against then-North American champion... JBL! Bradshaw told him to refuse the title shot, but Orlando wouldn't. In retaliation, JBL kicked him out of The Inc. Now these two are on a collision course over the North American belt. (Note: JBL fired The Bashams during the hiatus, as he had no need for them. This caused a rift between Doug and Danny as to the future of their careers, which they recently seemed to have patched up.)

Masahiro Chono and William Regal were dominant UW World Tag Team champions for several months, but as time wore on people could see that their partnership was growing tense. They held on to the belts because they were such awesome individual competitors, but they didn't have the teamwork down as the used to. They decided to go their seperate ways after our last show, as Chono is returning to Japan and Regal is doing backstage work as well as appearances on the indy scene.

A personal favorite of mine... The World's Greatest Tag Team (or TWGTT, "Twig-It" to my brother) went on a tremendous losing streak and after two losses to MNM, Haas blamed Banjamin for their lack of success and broke up the band. Haas went on his way, but MNM simply wouldn't leave him alone. He came to blame them as well for the fall of TWGTT. He finally just lost it and beat MNM to a pulp with a chair after they won a Top Contenders Tag Team Turmoil. Since then, he's been carrying around the chair (which he's since scrawled "MNM" into the seat of) and has been essentially classified as a semi-psychotic loose cannon. (Note: He's carried on this odd behavior on tour in the indies although the chair now has the name of his opponent scrawled on it.)

Any other updates on storylines I'll take care of as time progresses in promos and what not.

And before anyone asks... about 95 percent booked.

I'll follow with champions and title histories and a roster next...
