I give up

DroppinTresSonPosted on 04/04/06 at 19:11:54

I gave up on my TNM circuit, I feel like it had too many high profile names for what I was looking for, I'm gonna go back to the drawing board and hope to come up with something else.

I always feel that my most successful feds come from using guys that aren't in WWE or TNA and hardly any from ROH.
HugeRockStar760Posted on 04/04/06 at 19:52:27

Or use one of the many TNM rulesets available. Even if Ryan won't reply to your circuits because of his disdain for rulesets. :-)
Snabbit888Posted on 04/04/06 at 20:55:00

Grrr! :)

So many of the rulesets have been used so frequently that when you read one circuit, you've read them all.  Same machine, just imput different parts.

Well I think they're good to start a circuit off for someone who needs some guidance. I think it's entirely possible for someone to run a few cards on the rules, and they branch out a different direction. But it's nice to have some guidance in the early going at least.

Try not to worry about using all the big names.  Just use guys you like and book them however the hell you want.  The beauty of TNM is you don't have to be realistic as long as you're enjoying what you're doing.  Even if you follow a realistic popularity structure make sure that you have guys you like working for you.

Besides, CCoey doesn't post here so you don't need to worry about Mr. Realism popping in here and ruining everyones fun. Besides, no matter how hard someone tries, a TNM circuit will never be be 100% realistic.

As far as rules sets go, I think my old school rules are the ones that best got furthest away from same machine, different input parts, mainly because there were variable outcomes written into the rules periodically to shake things up.
rey619Posted on 04/05/06 at 10:19:01

The thing is, unless you use WWE or TNA guys, chances are your audience will be non-existent (King of Old Schools excellent fed is a prime example). And yes, you're doing this for your own amusement and everything, but if nobody even reads your circuit, why even bother posting?
CrplsPosted on 04/05/06 at 11:05:24

Just because people don't respond doesn't mean they're not reading.
UnrightPosted on 04/05/06 at 12:24:53

I really like(d?) King of Old School's UK fed. I usually try to comment if I've got a good suggestion to make or need something cleared up because it's a little confusing. KOOS's fed was just damn good. Every card an enjoyable read.

But Rey's right. If you're looking for a high readership, then the LCD demands names they can recognize.

If people don't read your circuits.. they don't read your circuits. Unless the 1 person reading them copy+paste them and send them via a mailing list or something. I never said anything about commenting.

LCD, meaning, lowest common denominator? Are you turning heel?
Snabbit888Posted on 04/05/06 at 17:11:03

My stance on this has always been that if you're posting your circuit hoping to get tons and tons of feedback, your circuit is going to die off anyway, because you're doing it for the wrong people. You'll either a) constantly be trying to please the reading audience and thus lose interest in your own booking because it's not fun for you anymore or b) become completely deflated when no one responds. Just do what you like. I have one of the more "popular" circuits here and I'm lucky to get feedback from anyone other than mamushi (who I love ever-so-much for doing so :)). I read plenty of circuits, but if I can't offer anything other than, "Hey, I liked that" or "that wasn't very good," I'm not going to feedback.

Still, if you want feedback, a pretty safe way to foster the community is to give feedback to others.  I've seen so many instances of "Hey, go read my stuff and tell me what you think!" and then they never respond to anyone else's stuff.
HugeRockStar760Posted on 04/05/06 at 19:22:41

And besides, if someone goe sinto the TNM7 Forums hoping for replies, they are fooling themselves. It's not that everyone are mean bastards, but rather, there's only so many active posters to begin with. If someone wants a lot of replies, they probably should go to the Extreme Warfare Battleground where they do the standard: "hey nice card, now read my circuit cause itz da kewliez"

I'm usually always reading someone's card in here.

Guys, guys, guys.... Don't get worked up here, it's not that I didn't run the circuit with the guys that I wanted, or that I expect too many replies at the same time. I just think that I used too many of the high profile names for my taste, and there is always the line next to the Topic name that says "views". and I feel that as long as you guys are viewing my stuff over, and over then it's worth posting. However, I had to end it, because I wasn't happy with my stuff... So I yanked it.
Snabbit888Posted on 04/05/06 at 20:46:52

I don't think anyone is accusing you of that.  I think we just all got going a little.  Sorry if you felt assaulted. :)

The only problem with the views category is that it is a bit misleading. Apparently, everytime the author of a thread reads their post, it actually counts that as a view. So one might think they are getting a lot of views, but they really aren't.
americamamushiPosted on 04/05/06 at 21:32:53

heh, sorry.  Whenever someone new to the boards says something about giving up I think all us reggies are just used to giving our stock answers.  ;D

In Rob Schneider voice: "YOU CAN DO IT!"
Rick GarrardPosted on 04/06/06 at 05:07:26

why quote Rob Schneider when you can quote Tony Little?

"You can do eeeeeet!"
