NAWA Battlequest 2004 Preview

MattHarmsPosted on 03/19/06 at 04:29:50

Six Weeks Away. The time is ticking down to WrestleClash III and the New Age Wrestling Alliance returns to Pay Per View one more time for Battlequest.

NAWA World Title, No Holds Barred Match With Special Guest Referee New Jack:
Raven vs Ron Waterman(c)

Ron Waterman won the NAWA World Championship at the Luck of the Draw, winning the Luck of the Draw Match. The championship was vacant. The wrestler who held the belt before then. Raven. That fact has been eating up Raven inside for quite some time. Raven says he has nothing personal against Ron Waterman,  he just wants the NAWA World Title. Raven won a Battle Royal to earn his title shot and has put together quite a winning streak in the past few weeks. Waterman has not been defending his title as much recently due to injuries accumlated during his title run, which seems to be slowing him down slightly but he does an NAWA tradition proud this Sunday by defending the title against the number one contender on Pay Per View. Raven says the NAWA World Title is his destiny but Waterman has defeated the best the NAWA has to offer and is planning to add Raven to his list. Add the No Holds Barred Stipulation just added after Glory went off the air this week and New Jack being the referee, and we could possibly have one of the best NAWA World Title Matches in our two year plus history.

Prediction:

NAWA International Title Ladder Match:
Tony Mamaluke vs Miles Stylish(c)

The wars between these two men have been going on since last fall when Mamaluke pinned Stylish in a match on Glory. Stylish injured Mamaluke at one point and both men have been fighting in singles matches, tag team matches, and six man tags for almost a year. There most recent one on one match was the classic sixty minute time limit draw back at Night of the Rogues. Mamlauke came close to winning the International Title held by Miles Stylish. This time, Mamaluke and Stylish battle in a match where the style may favor Tony Mamaluke in a Ladder Match but do not count out Miles Stylish who has fought the odds before and won. The Championship Belt hangs in the balance between these two fantastic wrestlers.

Prediction:

Winner Receives an NAWA World Title Shot at WrestleClash III:
Scott Hall vs Rapmaster Killings vs the Dark Warrior vs Christopher Daniels:

All four of these men have a common goal. An NAWA World Title Shot at WrestleClash III. New Jack has put these four men in a match. One Fall to a Finish, the Winner will walk out with the all important NAWA World Title Match for WrestleClash III.

Prediction:

AJ Styles vs CM Punk:

Another match in which these two men have been feuding for months. It all started when AJ Styles inadvertantly injured CM Punk during a first round match in a tournament to crown a brand new NAWA International Title and Punk has held a personal vendetta against AJ Styles ever since but has never fought him head on. Indeed, many sneak attacks and many instances of Punk paying off other wrestlers to attack AJ Styles, Styles is chomping at the bit to get his hands on CM Punk. Punk is looking to springboard himself into the main event scene in the NAWA but AJ Styles seems to be the roadblock from his path to the top.

Prediction:

NAWA Television Title Match:
The Gambler vs Jerry Lynn(c)

Last month at Night of the Rogues, Jerry Lynn screwed the Gambler out of the Television Title after using a pair of brass knuckles and as a result, the Gambler gets another chance to capture the Television Title. The Gambler pinned Lynn a couple of weeks ago and now is looking to pin him with the Television Title on the line. Lynn has promised to put the Gambler out of commision. We will find out which many achieves his goal at Night of the Rogues.

Prediction:

NAWA Cruiserweight Title Match:
Spanky vs Teddy Hart(c)

Teddy Hart may be perhaps the greatest Cruiserweight Champion in the history of the NAWA. Hart has held that belt for nearly a year but this Sunday, he faces off against the charismatic, if a little strange, Spanky. Spanky has been fire in the NAWA, racking up wins over the best the NAWA has to offer and this has Teddy Hart a little easy. Hart attempted to get a little bit of a psychological advantage, attacking Spanky and busting him open this past week on Glory but Hart's attacks smelled of a desperate man's actions. Hart could very well be kissing that Cruiserweight Title belt good bye.

Prediction:

NAWA Tag Team Titles:
Hi Tech and Johnny Excalibur vs Petey Williams and Johnny Devine(c)

Excalibur and Hi Tech came to the NAWA and put together quite the winning streak. So impressive that New Jack offered them a tag team title shot and they took his offer. These two teams have had a few run ins, most recently with Williams and Devine laying waste to Excalibur and Hi Tech last week on Glory but it remains to be seen what will happen win the NAWA Tag Team Titles at stake.

Prediction:

Twizted Youth vs Richard Ramos Ricardo, Attorney At Law:
The Backyard Dudes were perhaps, well they were a tag team. They were the closest of friends. The dearest of chums. The bonds of friendship could not be severed. They were destined to open every Pay Per View Match in the NAWA until the day it could no longer exist. That was until The French Revolution caused Richard Ramos Ricardo, then known as mild mannered leet speaking Ricky Ricardo, a serious head injured which undid a previous serious head injury. Then Ricardo was turned into the evil, goatee wearing, briefcase wielding, law term spouting, pain in the butt. Twizted Youth, well he hasn't said much but Richard Ramos Ricardo vowed to break Twizted Youth in half. Charming is it not. At Battlequest, both of these fine gentle...no wait scratch that. Both of these half way decent, things that appear to be people will compete in the the field of combat known as wrestling. Which one will come out on top, will remain a mystery as is how this match gets the longest write up out of this Pay Per View Preview.

Prediction:

Tag Team Turmoil:
Chris Sabin and Matt Bentley vs the French Revolution vs Armageddon and Destruction vs Juvi and Lenny vs Shawn Stasiak and Mike Sanders vs Simon and Swinger:

Six of the top teams in the NAWA. Two teams start out. Once one team is defeated, another team comes in. The last team remaining receives a NAWA World Tag Team Title Match at WrestleClash III.

Prediction:

Elix Skipper vs Jack Evans:
This match was made as a result of the Hart Foundation, the Next Generation attacking Elix Skipper on Glory last week because they are no good low down dirty dogs and Jack Evans was the only HFNG without a match. Elix Skipper wants revenge. Pretty simple, don't you think?

NAWA World Title, No Holds Barred Match With Special Guest Referee New Jack:
Raven vs Ron Waterman(c)

Because Raven vs. Daniels would draw the most hear given their history and your big show should feature your biggest feud

NAWA International Title Ladder Match:
Tony Mamaluke vs Miles Stylish(c)

I just hope Mamaluke doesnt win, i dont like Mamaluke at all, just cant get behind him, Stylish is entertaining

Winner Receives an NAWA World Title Shot at WrestleClash III:
Scott Hall vs Rapmaster Killings vs the Dark Warrior vs Christopher Daniels:

AJ Styles vs CM Punk:

ANAWA Television Title Match:
The Gambler vs Jerry Lynn(c)

NAWA Cruiserweight Title Match:
Spanky vs Teddy Hart(c)

Token title change, Teddy should be moved into top tier following this loss, maybe Ron Waterman causes his loss and they feud, neither one will have a title, it will just be hatred

NAWA Tag Team Titles:
Hi Tech and Johnny Excalibur vs Petey Williams and Johnny Devine(c)

Excalibur and Hi Tech are entertaining but Petey and Johnny retain

Twizted Youth vs Richard Ramos Ricardo, Attorney At Law:

Ricardo goes over as his gimmick change may turn him into something less of a jobber to the jobbers, he should move onto jobbing to the mid level talent

Tag Team Turmoil:
Chris Sabin and Matt Bentley vs the French Revolution vs Armageddon and Destruction vs Juvi and Lenny vs Shawn Stasiak and Mike Sanders vs Simon and Swinger:

Elix Skipper vs Jack Evans:

Ultimate of meaningless matches. Seems like a throw in. Skipper has more to gain from a win though

NAWA World Title, No Holds Barred Match With Special Guest Referee New Jack:
Raven vs Ron Waterman(c)

Prediction: Raven seems due for a title win, but I just can't imagine him ending Ron Waterman's undefeated streak without some sort of buildup to the end of that streak. Waterman is great as the unstoppable champion, and I say he manages to hang onto the belt here once again.

NAWA International Title Ladder Match:
Tony Mamaluke vs Miles Stylish(c)

Prediction: I like Mamaluke, but I doubt he can overcome Stylish's push. Stylish to retain.

Winner Receives an NAWA World Title Shot at WrestleClash III:
Scott Hall vs Rapmaster Killings vs the Dark Warrior vs Christopher Daniels:

Prediction: Daniels is the only one with a compelling reason to be competing for the title. Granted, his issue is more with Raven than with Ron Waterman, and I picked Waterman to retain, but this is wrestling! Who's to say circumstances won't change -- say, maybe a triple threat?

AJ Styles vs CM Punk:

Prediction: With Styles spending an inordinate amount of time trying to get his hands on Punk, this is the sort of match Punk can't lose. Look for Punk to cheat his way to victory, but the feud continues.

NAWA Television Title Match:
The Gambler vs Jerry Lynn(c)

Prediction: Just can't see the Gambler pulling this one off. Lynn to retain.

NAWA Cruiserweight Title Match:
Spanky vs Teddy Hart(c)

Prediction: Spanky's had a lot of build, and this one would be a no contest were Hart's title reign not so impressive. I'm hesitant to do it, but I'm still going to pick Spanky to win the title here.

NAWA Tag Team Titles:
Hi Tech and Johnny Excalibur vs Petey Williams and Johnny Devine(c)

Prediction: The Hart Foundation, Next Generation hasn't really done much with the tag titles since winning them, while Hi Tech and Excalibur are new and on a hot streak. I say they take the belts here.

Twizted Youth vs Richard Ramos Ricardo, Attorney At Law:

Prediction: Hey! That's MY lawyer gimmick! (I kid, I kid) Ramos has to win here.

Tag Team Turmoil:
Chris Sabin and Matt Bentley vs the French Revolution vs Armageddon and Destruction vs Juvi and Lenny vs Shawn Stasiak and Mike Sanders vs Simon and Swinger:

Prediction: The French Revolution are jobbers, Armageddon and Destruction don't need to win, Juvi and Lenny are better as a comedy team and the last two teams haven't done much lately. Let's go with Sabin and Bentley on this one.

Elix Skipper vs Jack Evans:

Prediction: Evans never seems to win lately, but with every member of the Hart Foundation set to lose (according to my predictions), I'll take Evans to win to further the rift between him and Teddy Hart.
