Re: [TEW] Harwell Dynasties... 2006

I've been reading and doing my best to enjoy this, but it just hasn't been my cup of tea.  You seem to be having fun though, which is great, so by no means stop what you're doing.  I just HATE the TEW layout.  The percentage for each segment thing.  Something about it rubs me the wrong way.  And yeah, still not sold on women competing with men so easily.  In the reality of the wrestling world, it doesn't make a lot of sense.  And I have a lot of trouble keeping track of who all these wrestlers you've changed gimmicks for to suit old fantasy wrestler names.  I know Chris Hero is Dawson Polaris, but yeah, that's about it.

I'm still reading, mind you, but nothing is really striking me yet.

The thing off that is, not EVERYONE buys Mysterio as a main eventer.  I do, but I know that you don't.  Same goes for this.  You might buy the women as contenders with the men, but I do not.

I guess mostly where it doesn't work for me is that the women you've pushed, I've never seen.  not only that, but (and correct me if I'm wrong), you've never seen them either.  It seems like you're pushing women like Mariko Yoshida because the game tells you she has good stats (aka the programmer thinks she's good).  It's harder for me to get behind someone you're behind because a game tells you she's good so you assume she is, you know?

Converting the ratings system to the star rating system is a good idea. The percentage system was way too arbitrary for me.

That's why I liked the grade system of TEW 2005 better... not that I retained interest in the game for more than a couple of days, though.. man, I have waaay to much money to spend on things I won't use..

I wonder what Bobby Heenan will think of that ;D

Also I think it's harder to follow the results now with all those letters since I'm not American and thus never had that grading scale in school
ZedjaPosted on 03/01/06 at 06:36:03

I saw the grade list earlier, but I can't keep backtrack to that list every time I want to know what a score means.

BTW I liked the old way you wrote it more than the current. I'm sorry. I know it meant more work for you.

I didn't make predictions since I now know it's a booked circuit.. Sorry.

show went as i expected for the most part. Danielson had to win to really even things out and keep that feud moving forward. him pinning the bloody makes sense and will help him not lose much status should he turn around and lose the rematch with AJ.

The only disappointment was the tag titles match. while chad collyer/malenko isnt a huge favorite of mine, alex shelley should still be wearing gold. Simon Diamond hasnt been solid in the ring for a few years atleast and the miz, while he is charasmatic, i dont feel he is worthy of upending the reigning champs who have beat everyone else on the planet since basically the beginning of your circuit. especially since it was the first or second time Mizzy and Simon teamed up.

otherwise show went well. keep up the solid and entertaining work
ZedjaPosted on 03/03/06 at 14:18:00

The reason I don't like to predict booked circuits is that in some cases the one booking makes changes depending on the predictions.

In real federations that is hard to do since they have pretty much trained for a match for a long time before showing it on TV. Matches where they have had to make quick changes never really turn out good.

TEW is way too easy.. how long have you been playing? Not a year even, and ROH is bigger than WWE? Crazy. Especially since you rarely draw crowds over 1,000. It took me 3 months to go past WWE with TNA, and about the same time, I lost interest...
rey619Posted on 03/06/06 at 23:15:18

Since you really doesn't know RoH at all, it really shows that you only need to read stats and know what matches and segments to put on (or not put on) according to the style of the fed...
rey619Posted on 03/07/06 at 08:49:18

Actually, you could put together a very good match without having superb in-ring workers. I have never understood how the mechanics work, but as a feud builds intensity in TNM, the match ratings increase. If book correctly, a match between Cena and Hogan could very well achieve 4-stars. I've had Raven and Jarrett in a 5-star match.

Also, TNM randomly chooses a type of crowd every show, which dictates what matches they like. That's why hardcore matches may bomb one week and get top ratings the next week.

Yeah.. Women can be hurt by a low blow, but not as much as a guy. It kinda depends on the angle of the blow. The traditional exagerrated uppercut low blow (strait up) would hurt a girl.

Oh, and you might want to review the rules behind the Pure Wrestling title. I seriously doubt it would have been defended  in a hardcore match.

I see. Although in real life I think that might have created an uproar with the ROH purist communitee. You could get in real trouble working the ROH fans like that.  There will be a brigade of keyboard fighters on your ass. ;)

Here are the rules for the Pure Title: (from Wikipedia)

Matches for the Pure Championship are conducted under three simple Pure Rules:

  • Each wrestler has three rope breaks to stop submission holds and pinfalls during the match. After a wrestler exhausts his rope breaks, sumbission and pin attempts under the ropes are considered legal.
  • There are no closed-fist punches to the face allowed in a Pure match, only open-handed slaps or chops to the face are allowed. Punches to other parts of the body (save for low-blows) are permitted.
  • A wrestler is subject to a twenty count by the referee if the wrestler goes to the floor.
