NWA World Championship Wrestling
Date: April 13, 1985
Location: Hampton, VA

[NWA World Tag Team Title Tournament - First Round]:
The Minnesota Wrecking Crew (Ole Anderson and Arn Anderson) defeated
Thunderbolt Patterson and Manny Fernandez when O. Anderson made Thunderbolt
submit to a standing short arm scissors in 0:35:52.
Rating: *** 1/2

The Minnesota Wrecking Crew had to face the same team they fought last week,
Thunderbolt Patterson & Manny Fernandez. Unlike last week, Patterson and
Fernandez put up quite the challenge to the top seeded team in the tournament.
Thunderbolt & Manny took The Minnesota Wrecking Crew to the absolute limit
here, but could not outlast them in the end. Ole caught his former tag team
partner, Thunderbolt Patterson, in standing short arm scissors, and perhaps due
to a lack of energy, submitted quickly. The Minnesota Wrecking Crew will have
some time to regain their stamina before their next match in the semifinals,
but you have to wonder how much this match took out of them.

[NWA World Tag Team Title Tournament - First Round]:
Rock'n'Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson) defeated The Midnight
Express (Stan Lane and Bobby Eaton) when R. Morton defeated S. Lane by
disqualification in 0:21:15.
Rating: * 3/4
[Jim Cornette interfered against Ricky Morton.]

Unlike last week, the referee paid more attention to the interference from Jim
Cornette. Jim Cornette's interference was costly as the referee had no choice
but to disqualify The Midnight Express after Cornette knocked Ricky Morton off
the top turnbuckle. The Rock 'N' Roll Express will move on to face The
Minnesota Wrecking Crew in the next round of the tournament. After the match,
The Midnight Express attack The Rock 'N' Roll Express out of frustration until
they are separated from them by NWA officials.

[NWA World Tag Team Title Tournament - First Round]:
Billy Jack Haynes and Wahoo McDaniel defeated The Russians (Nikita Koloff and
Ivan Koloff) when Wahoo pinned Koloff after a bodyslam in 0:35:01.
Rating: **

The first big upset of the tournament happened in this match. Billy Jack Haynes
and Wahoo McDaniel move on to the next round by surprising The Russians when
Wahoo McDaniel managed to get a three count over Nikita Koloff with a bodyslam.
The fans went crazy for Billy Jack Haynes and Wahoo McDaniel, who quickly
escaped the ring and from the anger of Nikita and Ivan Koloff.

[NWA World Tag Team Title Tournament - First Round]:
The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal) defeated Ron Bass and Terry Funk when Hawk
pinned T. Funk with the Flying Clothesline in 0:19:09.
Rating: ***
[Paul Ellering interfered against Ron Bass.]

Terry Funk and Ron Bass gave The Road Warriors a good challenge, but unlike The
Russians, they do move on to the next round of the NWA World Tag Team
Title Tournament.

[NWA World Tag Team Title Tournament - Semifinal Match]:
The Minnesota Wrecking Crew (Ole Anderson and Arn Anderson) defeated
Rock'n'Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson) when Anderson pinned
R. Morton with the Gourdbuster in 0:01:56.
Rating: **

I guess it is safe to say that The Minnesota Wrecking Crew recovered quite
nicely from their earlier match and won this match quite easily against The
Rock 'N' Roll Express. Ole and Arn Anderson will now await their challengers
in the championship match of the tournament. It will either be against The
Road Warriors or Billy Jack Haynes and Wahoo McDaniel.

[NWA World Tag Team Title Tournament - Semifinal Match]:
The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal) defeated Billy Jack Haynes and
Wahoo McDaniel when Animal pinned Wahoo with the Powerslam in 0:08:03.
Rating: * 3/4

The Road Warriors put away Billy Jack Haynes and Wahoo McDaniel much easier
than most expected, but move on they have nonetheless. The Road Warriors will
now move onto the finals of the tournament to face The Minnesota Wrecking Crew
for the chance to become the NWA World Tag Team Champions.

Match for the vacant NWA World Tag Team Titles:
The Minnesota Wrecking Crew (Ole Anderson and Arn Anderson) defeated
The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal) when Anderson pinned Animal after
a flying clothesline in 0:04:25.
Rating: **
(The Minnesota Wrecking Crew won the NWA World Tag Team Titles.)
[Paul Ellering interfered against Ole Anderson.]

What a cheap way for The Minnesota Wrecking Crew to become the NWA
World Tag Team Champions! Arn Anderson hit Animal with a flying
clothesline and when he went for the pin, he used the ropes for leverage
and gained the three count! Ole Anderson had prevented Hawk from breaking
the pin up. The crowd loudly boos the new champions as they quickly leave
the ring and away from an angry Road Warriors tag team victorious.

Dusty Rhodes and Magnum T.A. defeated Ric Flair and Tully Blanchard
when Magnum TA pinned Blanchard with the Belly-to-Belly Suplex in
0:16:45.
Rating: ** 1/2

Dusty Rhodes and Magnum T.A. gained a small amount of revenge against Ric
Flair and Tully Blanchard here tonight after they defeated their rivals when
Magnum T.A. successfully gained the three count over Tully Blanchard with the
Belly-to-Belly Suplex. Ric Flair looked on with disgust on his face over Tully
Blanchard losing the match. I guess these two really do dislike each other and
were only teaming as a matter of convenience. I'm sure tonight's results will not
be the last we see of the feud between these four wrestlers though.

Card rating: ** 1/4

Good stuff!

I'm enjoying this.

Will you eventually fill the other promotional titles in use at the time?

Definitely. While this circuit is starting off by following the Old School rules from Rick Garrard, things will slowly progress to where I'm putting champions with the US title, TV Title, even the US Tag Team Titles.
