This is my circuit that I've been running for a long time.  I have about 150 cards simmed, and I figured I'd share them with you.

CeWF Live!
January 2005, Week 1
New York City, New York

CROWNING A CHAMPION: DECISIONS
The President of the Civic Entertainment Wrestling Federation, Scott Baron, welcomes everyone to the new era of pro wrestling.  He says that over the next three weeks, a series of gauntlets will take place that will determine the three men that will fight for the CeWF World Heavyweight Championship at the end of the month at CeWF's first mega-event entitled Overdrive! which will take place in Charlotte, North Carolina.

THE HHH SHOW?
Following the announcement, Triple H graces the ring with his presence and wastes no time in claiming a right to be the World Heavyweight Champion.  Scott agrees, but he also agrees that everyone else has a right as well.  Scott mentions that it is fortunate Triple H is out here, because he is the first man in the first gauntlet.  Triple H freaks out, and Scott just laughs.  Scott announces his opponent, it's...

MATCH #1
BOOKER T VS TRIPLE H
GAUNTLET #1
This match totally caught Triple H by surprise, as Booker T rushed to the ring and began to assault Triple H with flurries of punches and kicks.  Early on, Booker goes for the Scissor Kick, but Trips moves out of the way, and follows it with a low blow and a Pedigree to end the match.  This was surprisingly short, but Trips always takes what he can get.

Triple H pinned Booker T with the Pedigree in 0:06:13.
Rating: ** 1/2

THE LEGEND KILLER SPEAKS
Randy Orton made his way to the ring with a microphone and immediately issued a challenge to any superstar who thought they were a legend in their own mind.  Who should answer the challenge but "The Franchise" Shane Douglas.  Shane rebuts Randy's claims as a legend killer, claiming they were all past their prime, but he was ready to go.  One gay joke later, and Randy tries to blindside Shane, but the attack is thwarted, and Shane celebrates in the crowd.  Looks like we have a match for tonight.

MATCH #2
TRIPLE H VS EDDIE GUERRERO
GAUNTLET #1
Trips was obviously not shaken from the first match, but was annoyed that he had little time to rest.  Trips started the assault as Guerrero entered the ring, but Guerrero fought valiantly.  Trips caught Guerrero in the Pedigree, but Guerrero got out of it.  Guerrero caught Triple H and slingshot him into the ring post.  A flop to the mat, and a Frog Splash later puts Triple H out of the Gauntlet in 5 minutes, and moves Eddie Guerrero on.

Eddie Guerrero pinned Triple H with the Frog Splash in 0:05:00.
Rating: ** 1/4

HARDCORE HOLLY GETS LAUGHED AT
The Dudley Boys were chatting in the backstage area when Hardcore Holly interrupts.  Holly claims that the Dudleys believe they are the greatest tag team of all time, then Holly challenges them to a tag match tonight.  The Dudleys accept, but not before D-Von claims that nobody wants to work with Hardcore.

MATCH #3
CHRIS SABIN VS MAVEN
This was the first non-gauntlet match of the show, and both men were eager to show the CeWF brass what they could bring to the table.  The action started off slowly.  Maven worked a slow style, with some basic holds.  Maven still showed signs of green, including a botched dropkick.  It didn't hurt anybody, but it looked bad.  Sabin kept on hailing the crowd.  Midway through the match, Sabin caught Maven with a DDT that looked like it stung, but that only got a two count.  Sabin followed up with a moonsault, but Maven got the legs up.  Maven tried to capitalize with a missile dropkick, but Sabin blocked it, then turned it into a swinging soviet suplex into a backbreaker.  Sabin covered, and surprisingly it put Maven down and out.

Chris Sabin pinned Maven after a swinging Soviet suplex into a backbreaker in 0:10:50.
Rating: ** 1/4

MATCH #4
RANDY ORTON VS "THE FRANCHISE" SHANE DOUGLAS
Douglas fully intended to put Orton through a wrestling clinic.  Douglas focused on the legs early in the match, catching Orton with his leg on the ropes and repeatedly applying leg locks.  Douglas went for a jawbreaker, but Orton countered with one of his own.  It wasn't enough.  Orton then went for the RKO, but Shane threw him off, then hit Orton with a German Suplex, but only for a two count.  Shane went for the Pittsburgh Plunge, but Orton stuck his foot between the ropes.  Orton shook Douglas off, then hit the RKO out of nowhere, and Douglas was done.

Randy Orton pinned Shane Douglas with the RKO in 0:10:39.
Rating: ** 1/2

THE LEGEND KILLER ISN'T SATISFIED
Orton wasn't satisfied with just pinning Douglas.  He intended to hit Douglas with another RKO, until a commotion came from the crowd.  It was TERRY FUNK, the Hardcore Legend, with a chair in hand.  Funk kept motioning for Orton to attack him, but Orton was weary of it.  Orton looked like he was going to fight him, but Orton took the low road and left the ring, much to the dismay of the crowd.

MATCH #5
EDDIE GUERRERO VS CHRIS BENOIT
GAUNTLET #1
The pop for Chris Benoit was out of this world, and the crowd was pumped for this match.  Eddie showed no signs of fatigue, and was raring to go.  The match started out as who could top who with arm drags, hip tosses, reversals, and headlocks.  Both men applauded each other, then proceeded to get to the nitty gritty.  Benoit took control early on, laying some stiff chops across Guerrero's chest, followed by a whip to the corner.  Benoit followed in, but Guerrero jumped and caught Benoit in a sunset flip for a two count.  Guerrero then took control after that, and it eventually led to Guerrero hitting the Three Amigos.  Benoit wouldn't stay down as Guerrero went for a Frog Splash.  Benoit caught Eddie with a superplex.  Both men were down, but Benoit was the first up.  He went for the Swan Dive Headbutt, but Eddie got a boot up that nailed Benoit square on the head.  Guerrero went for the Lasso, and locked it in.  The crowd got behind Benoit who was able to reverse it into a Sharpshooter.  Guerrero reversed it into a cradle for a two count, but Benoit got up right afterwards.  Guerrero missed a clothesline, and ended up in the Crossface.  Luckily, Eddie was near the ropes, and Benoit eventually let go.  Benoit went for the Triple German Suplex, and on the third one, Eddie reversed it into a front face DDT.  Eddie, in a last ditch effort, climbed to the top rope and hit the Frog Splash.  The red hot crowd counted as Eddie scored the victory and moved on.  The crowd was on their feet, and Benoit and Eddie shook hands and hugged.  Great respect, and a great match.

Eddie Guerrero pinned Chris Benoit with the Frog Splash in 0:22:16.
Rating: **** 1/4

CHRISTIAN WANTS IN
In Scott Baron's office, Christian storms in claiming that there cannot be a gauntlet without Captain Charisma.  He reminds Scott of his words; everyone gets a chance.  Scott says that tonight's gauntlet is full, but if he wins a match tonight, then he'll get a spot in next week's gauntlet.  Christian accepts, and wants to know who he is facing.  Baron smiles, and politely says PAUL LONDON.

MATCH #6
THE DUDLEY BOYS VS HARDCORE HOLLY & BAM BAM BIGELOW
It's the Beast from the East.  I guess Bigelow has been living under a rock and doesn't know about Holly's piss-poor attitude.  Bigelow and D-Von started off, and Bigelow didn't show any signs of ring rust.  Essentially, the match boiled down to when Holly would blow it for his team.  Holly let his ego control the match, and he found himself on the business end of the Bubba Bomb.  This was it for Holly, as Bigelow just stood on the apron and looked.  The Dudleys shot Bigelow a look of disdain.  Bigelow returned the look.  He mouthed the words "I know" and shook his head.

The Dudley Boys (Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley) defeated Hardcore Holly and Bam Bam Bigelow when Bubba pinned H. Holly with the Bubba Bomb in 0:18:29.
Rating: ***

MATCH #7
EDDIE GUERRERO VS REDEEMER
GAUNTLET #1
Redeemer is part of the CeWF's new talent initiative blending new and experienced talent.  He is a big man, about 300+ pounds, and has an apocalyptic gimmick.  Eddie was tired after his match with Benoit.  Redeemer overpower Guerrero, and hit the Spiral Bomb within three minutes to end Eddie's chances of becoming World Heavyweight Champion.

Redeemer pinned Eddie Guerrero with the Spiral Bomb in 0:03:06.
Rating: ** 1/4

MATCH #8
CHRISTIAN VS PAUL LONDON
Christian looked like he had something up his sleeve.  Christian grabbed the referee to protect him from London as London hit a corner splash.  The ref was dazed, and didn't see Christian pull out brass knuckles.  London caught him, but Christian tossed the knuckles to London, then dove to the mat.  The ref came out of the daze, followed by a call for the bell for catching London with brass knuckles.  London stood there dumbfounded as Christian rolled out of the ring and into next week's gauntlet.

Christian defeated Paul London by disqualification in 0:05:25.
Rating: **

MAIN EVENT
REDEEMER VS KURT ANGLE
GAUNTLET #1
The crowd was surprised when Angle was revealed as the last man in tonight's gauntlet.  Angle and Redeemer started out with Angle using speed to his advantage.  He was able to take Redeemer down with an Angle Slam early on, but only got a two count.  Redeemer then shook it off and went to work on Angle with some power moves, including a nice looking power slam that nearly ended the match.  Eventually, Angle found himself about to be Spiral Bombed, but Angle kept on pounding Redeemer's head.  Angle climbed down, and grabbed Redeemer's ankle and applied the Ankle Lock.  Redeemer went for a good two minutes in the hold before eventually passing out from the pain.  Kurt Angle becomes the first entrant in the Triple Threat Match for the World Heavyweight Title at Overdrive.

Kurt Angle defeated Redeemer when Redeemer passed out in the Ankle Lock in 0:17:19.
Rating: ** 3/4

NOTES:
Not a bad show if I say so.  We saw the potential start of the Randy Orton/Terry Funk feud which should definitely be fun to watch.

Kurt Angle becomes the first entrant to battle for the World Heavyweight Title.  Who will join him?  It could be anyone, it could even be Christian.  Some of next week's participants include Chris Jericho, Edge, and the legendary Ric Stone.

What will Triple H have to say in the coming weeks to Scott Baron?  Is this the start of a feud?

And what about Paul London?  He can't be happy, and you can be sure that this is not the last we've seen.

All in all, a good show, and it can only get better from here.  Next show, we'll have an estimated match lineup for Overdrive!

Before I give real feedback, booked or nonbooked?  And is there a ruleset used?
djmasterscooterPosted on 02/19/06 at 18:41:40

I spend the first few cards unbooked, then switched to booked, and I am not using a rule set.
Snabbit888Posted on 02/19/06 at 20:27:36

I generally don't like gauntlets or battle royals to determine who's in the World Title crowning match, but I'll see what goes down first.  HHH already being put in his place.

HHH survives the first test by beating Booker T.  No surprise, as Booker never seems to win big matches.

Shane Douglas?  Ewwww.  I hope he doesn't last long here.  I *HATE* Shane Douglas. :)

Wow... though I don't mind Eddie winning, it was surprisingly to see him beat HHH so quickly and so cleanly.  Eddie still has a long way to go to take the title spot though.

Awww... poor Hardcore Holly.  I'll be his partner!

Good little match between Sabin and Maven.  Went a good time, and the right guy won.  Since this was a non-gauntlet match, this begs the question of what other titles are there in CeWF?

Surprisingly good match between Orton and Douglas.  Douglas got in the offense, but the cocky Orton pulls out the win.  Good stuff here.  And Terry Funk saves Douglas!  I'm excited to see where this goes.  Excellent work.

Great Eddie/Benoit stuff.  A lot of drama, and a great finish.  Now how much will Eddie have left in the tank after that marathon?

Christian vs. Paul London? *drools*

Ha ha... not a big fan of Hardcore Holly, eh?  But... but... BAM BAM BIGELOW! *marks out hard*

Eddie doesn't last long against this Redeemer fellow.  Usually not a huge fan of mixing real guys with fantasy guys, but I'll wait a few cards before I pass judgment.

Christian you sneaky bastard!  Hehe... that was a fun little finish.  Now let's see how he does in the gauntlet.

Angle had a tough time with the big man, but his mat skills helped him prevail.  Angle is always a good choice for first World champion, so I'm happy with that.

Keep 'em coming, good sir.
