Superstars of Wrestling - Week One

jesse_ewiakPosted on 02/15/06 at 22:50:31

Quick set-up

* Old School Rules
* Modified roster with only crappy gimmicks to start out
with, but better wrestlers in the pool of available
  wrestlers.
* Think of a time period between 1990 and 1993, the dark
 days of professional wrestling. :-)
* All face-heel matches unless made by the rules.

WEEK ONE
--------------
*Hype job of two huuuuuge main events - 'Quake v. The Warrior and Ahmed v. Goldust!

The Young Stallions and Shinobi and Spark Plugg Holly battled to a double countout in 3:55.
Rating: **

- Decent start, as the makeshift team of Shinobi & Holly brawl with The Young Stallions to the outside. Short and sweet. The fight continues on the outside when The Usual Idiots break it up.

Jim Duggan pinned Yoshi Kwan after a three point stance 2:52.
Rating: -1/2*

- Squash! Duggan celebrates after the match waving the flag.

Typhoon pinned El Gigante with the Big Splash in 16:54.
Rating: -****

- El Gigante? Seventeen minutes? Versus Typhoon? Let
us never speak of this again. Typhoon wins.

The Rougeau Brothers defeated The Bushwhackers when J. Rougeau pinned Luke after the Bombe de Rougeau in 18:24.
Rating: ** 3/4

- Bushwackers return to their Sheepherders roots in a
nice little back-and-forth match with The Rogeaus.
Jacques gets the pin win some tights. After the match,
The Bushwackers get their heat back via Battering Ram!

George Steele pinned Honky Tonk Man with the Flying Hammerlock in 19:59.
Rating: * 3/4

- OK match, nothing special. Didn't deserve twenty
minutes. Steele gets the suprise win with one second
left before the time limit expired.  HTM expressed his
displeasure by nailing Steele with the guitar! Steele
no-sold it and HTM got the heck out of Dodge.

Rick Martel defeated Sgt. Slaughter by disqualification in 17:04.
Rating: DUD

- Nothing match, worse than expected actually. Slaughter
was close several times, but Martel used his cheating
ways to get out of several possible losing moments.
Slaughter finally snapped and refused to release a
 choke.

No-Countout-No-DQ-Falls-Count-Anywhere Match:
Ahmed Johnson made Goldust submit to a choke lift in 20:37.
Rating: ** 1/2

- An actual good match. Goldust went the total cheap
heat route early trying to psyche Ahmed out, but
the Pearl River Powerhouse fought him off. In the end,
Ahmed got tired and just lifted Goldust in a choke until
he quit. The Bizarre one got the last laugh as he nailed
Ahmed with a chair after the match!

Earthquake pinned The Ultimate Warrior with the Earthquake Vertical Splash in 28:55.
Rating: 1/2*

- It's 'Quake and Warrior for nearly half an hour. Ok
for what it was, Warrior gets the win, 'Quake attacks
after the match with help from The Bizzarre One when
 Ahmed makes the save!

Card : 3/4*

:o

Well, I guess that's an effective simulation of those days, yikes!  That kind of work would mean pink slips all around in my promotion, lol.

Interesting, though, that you're gonna try to make something good out of that era.  Good luck.
