JWA Aggression #1 & #2 - 1/4 - 1/11/06

VertigoPosted on 02/05/06 at 22:53:16

JAKKS Wrestling Association presents Aggression; January 4, 2006

The show opens up with none other than Gorilla Monsoon standing in the ring. He welcomes the fans to show and then thanks everyone for tuning in at home! The shot then fades to a video introducing the fans to the stars of the JWA (no action shots yet, of course, because this is the first show). Upon returning from the video Gorilla Monsoon has found his way to the announcing table at ringside and is joined by special guest color commentator Paul Heyman! Heyman will be doing the color commentating

Match #1
Carlito Caribbean Cool, "The King" Harley Race, and Triple H
defeated Shark Boy, Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake and Doink The Clown when Race pinned Doink after a belly-to-belly suplex in 0:10:05.
Rating: * 1/4
- The team of Doink, Beefcake, and Shark were out there having a lot of fun tonight getting the crowd going and they really had some momentum in the beginning, but things slowly turned for the worse as Harley Race took over on Shark Boy. Shark Boy was on the recieving end of quite the beating for a good 7-8 minutes of the match. All the fight had been sucked out of Shark, but in one desperation moment, Shark Boy caught Carlito with a jawbreaker. The momentum sent Shark Boy back towards his buckle where he was able to tag in Doink The Clown. Doink came in totally cleaning house until his three opponents all ganged up on him at once. Beefcake and a rejuvinated Shark Boy then came into the ring and a 6 man-melee insued! With referee Bill S. Preston Esq. completely losing control of the match he tried to take some initiative by forcing Triple H and Carlito out of the ring. Once that was accomplished he set his sights on getting Beefcake and Shark out of the ring. With his back turned, Carlito came back in and nailed Doink with a low blow from behind which set him up for a belly-to-belly suplex from Race and the match was over.

After Match #1...
Once Doink, Beefcake, and Shark Boy left the ring, Triple H, Race, and Carlito remained. Triple H grabbed got ahold of the microphone and began saying that he, Race, and Carlito were NOT curtain jerkers. He continued saying they deserved more respect than what they've been given already. He then said that all three guys, especially him, deserved MAIN EVENT status. This prompted JWA Owner, "Classie" Freddie Blassie, to come out. He too had a microphone. He said he was going to save the announcement for the end of the night but he thought this seemed to be an appropriate time. He told Triple H that he would indeed be in the main event next... facing off against none other than BATISTA. He said the match will be one of eight qualifying matches to take place next week with the winners advancing to a tournament for the JWA World Championship. The Championship finals will then take place at JWA's first big extravaganza, Hell Bent For Glory, on Saturday, Januardy 28! He said the other two will find out their opponents in due time.

Match #2
Christian
pinned Funaki with the Unprettier in 0:06:04.
Rating: * 1/4
- This was a pretty good match. Christian got under the fans skins already by his actions on the way to the ring. It's pretty obvious the Christian sees himself as the best at practically anything he does. Funaki was a bit the underdog in this one with a slight size difference, moreso in height than weight. Funaki put up a good fight but Christian finally put him away with the Unprettier.

Match #3
King Kong Bundy
defeated Rey Mysterio Jr. via pinfall in 0:06:02.
Rating: ***
- Speaking of size differences, Rey Mysterio was at a HUGE disadvantage. If Rey Mysterio was a Chevy S10, Bundy would be a tank. If Mysterio were a two-bedroom apartment, Bundy would be a condominium. If Mysterio were... well, you get the idea! Bundy is HUGE! Mysterio's got a lot of heart, though, and he knew what he needed to do and that was stay away from Bundy at all costs. For about 5 minutes, Mysterio ran circles around Bundy striking when he had an opportunity and then ducking out before Bundy could grab him. However, as Mysterio was getting his hopes up he went for a spinning wheel kick only to be caught like small child and slammed hard to the canvas. Hurt, but still trying to stay away from Bundy, Rey rolled to the outside, but Bundy followed him and dished out some punishment on the floor. Bundy rolled Mysterio back in the ring and came down on him with a HUGE splash. You could barely even see Rey underneath Bundy as he was counted to three. The match was over. Bundy looked pretty dominant once he took over.

Match #4
Andre the Giant and "The Immortal" Hulk Hogan
defeated Akio and Sakoda when Andre pinned Sakoda after a forearm smash in 0:04:24.
Rating: DUD
- Definatly not a wrestling clinic by any means these four guys clashed styles big time. We said Bundy was HUGE, but Andre... he's bigger than Bundy... he's... well, he's a GIANT! He towered over everyone in the ring... hell, everyone in the audience! Akio & Sakoda tried to focus on Hogan as much as possible, but Hogan's strength was too much for them. Andre didn't do much in the match, but he closed this one out with a clubbing forearm smash to Sakoda. Following the match, Hogan stayed and posed for the fans and him and Andre appeared to be enjoying each other's company.

Backstage...
We see "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters obsessing over himself in a mirror. He's striking a few poses and smiling after everyone. We see Batista come into the shot and he snickers. Masters doesn't look to happy with Batista's 'snicker' and asks him what he's laughing about. Batista denies everything and continues on his way. Masters is confused and then looks at himself in the mirror again. He begins flexing wondering what Batista laughed about... but upon seeing his own rippling biceps, Masters can't help but smile again.

Match #5
"Latino Heat" Eddie Guerrero
defeated "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters when Chris Masters passed out in the Lasso From El Paso in 0:10:56.
Rating: ***
- This was a hell of a contest coming right down to the wire. Masters showed his overwhelming power in this one by tossing Guerrero all over the ring, but Guerrero showed his tremendous courage and will as he fought back. Sensing Masters going for the Master Lock submission in the closing moments, Guerrero pulled the referee by his shirt distracting him and giving Guerrero the opportunity to kick backwards and nailing Masters directly in his... unmentionables! Guerrero then cinched in the Lasso From El Paso. Masters didn't tap out, and we're not really sure if he passed out from the Lasso or the low blow but either way Guerrero is awarded the victory!

Match #6
Batista and Jerry "The King" Lawler
defeated The Wild Samoans (Afa and Sika; w/Jimmy Hart) when Lawler defeated Afa by disqualification in 0:06:20.
Rating: -1/2*
- This match would have ended much sooner if it wasn't for the cheating of Jimmy Hart by distracting the referee and putting his guy's legs across the ropes when they were getting pinned. The fans grew tired of Hart's antics and the match suffered because of it. The Wild Samoans were able to get the upper hand on Lawler but after multiple attempts at trying to pin Lawler, Afa's temper took over and he did something no wrestler should ever do... and that was shove refere Ted "Theodore" Logan. Logan had enough and DQ'd the Samoans! The Samoans then went after Logan only to be stopped by a double clothesline from Batista. Batista then threw Afa to the floor and Lawler did the same with Sika.

Main Event
[Special Guest Referee Paul Heyman] "The Man Beast" Rhyno
pinned Terry Funk with the Gore in 0:10:07.
Rating: *** 1/2
- Paul Heyman had specially requested to officiate this match when he found out it was happening. As the match went on, though, Heyman began acting a little funny. When Funk was pinning Rhyno, Heyman's counts began getting slower. Funk had a look in his eye like he had a feeling something was going on. In the end, Funk applied the Spinning Toe Hold to Rhyno! Rhyno was clearly on the verge of submitting as he was no where near the ropes. Heyman with a desperate look on his face slid to the outside. Was he calling for the bell? Absolutely not! He grabbed his PHONE off the announcer's table, slid back in the ring, and shattered the phone over Funk's HEAD!! Funk was nearly out of it. Heyman helped Rhyno get to his feet and was screaming "GORE! GORE! GORE!" Funk staggered to his feet but Rhyno was waiting... GORE!!! Rhyno covered and it was over...

After The Match...
Paul Heyman got on the microphone and apologized to Terry Funk saying he honestly likes him, but he needed to be an example. Heyman then said Gorilla Monsoon will be going solo from now on as Paul E. Dangerously was taking his spot as the head of The Dangerous Alliance!! He then introduced Rhyno as the first official member. The fans were collectively booing and throwing garbage into the ring. He said it will only be a matter of time before The Dangerous Alliance had complete power with the JWA. Dangerously & Rhyno left as Funk struggled to get to his feet. We're not sure if he knows exactly what just happened but we'll hopefully find out next week...

Overall: *3/4

JAKKS Wrestling Association presents Aggression #2; January 11, 2006

The JWA returns with an exciting night of wrestling action. Tonight we will see 8 qualifying matches for a tournament to decide the first JWA World Champion. Gorilla Monsoon on commentary this evening and we head down to the ring for our opening contest...

Match #1; JWA World Championship Tournament Qualifying Match
"The Man Beast" Rhyno
(w/Paul E. Dangerously) pinned Doink The Clown with the Gore in 0:12:48.
Rating: *** 3/4
- Paul E. Dangerously led his main man, Rhyno, to the ring shouting "This man will lead the Dangerous Alliance to the top" and so on. Obviously Paul E. and "The Man Beast" didn't expect such a fight from Doink The Clown who kept up with Rhyno for nearly 13 minutes. After it seemed like Doink The Clown was going to put away his opponent with The Whoopie Cushion, Paul E. shoved Doink off the top rope. Referee Ted "Theodore" Logan was busy checking on Rhyno and didn't see a thing. Rhyno rose to his feet and awaited Doink... when Doink stood up... WHAM! GORE! GORE! GORE! It was all over...

Match #2; JWA World Championship Tournament Qualifying Match
"Latino Heat" Eddie Guerrero
made "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters submit to the Lasso From El Paso in 0:13:42.
Rating: *** 3/4
- This was a rematch from last week's Aggresssion where we saw Guerrero walk away victorious by causing Masters to submit to Eddie's Lasso From El Paso. Tonight was a similar story. Masters tried his hardest not to get caught up in the move but after thinking he had reversed a rana from Eddie, Eddie rolled through and locked the submission in forcing Masters to give up AGAIN!

Match #3; JWA World Championship Tournament Qualifying Match
Jerry "The King" Lawler
defeated "Wild Samoan" Afa (w/Jimmy Hart) by disqualification in 0:04:23.
Rating: -*
- Lawler has his hands full with the unpredictable Wild Samoan Afa. Following a short brawl on the outside which saw Afa get an advantage over Lawler, the two came back inside the ring where Afa tried to put away Lawler for good. After a few failed attempts we saw exactly what we saw last week from Afa as he shoved down referee Ted "Theodore" Logan. And just like last week, Logan disqualified Afa foiling any plans Afa or Jimmy Hart had of bringing the World Championship to Hart's camp.

Match #4; JWA World Championship Tournament Qualifying Match
King Kong Bundy
pinned Terry Funk with the Avalanche in 0:05:13.
Rating: ** 1/4
- While being outweighed immensely, the old bastard Terry Funk wasn't going to let anything stop him from reaching the JWA World Championship. However, he did not account for outside interference from Paul E. Dangerously & Rhyno. Paul was the first on the scene as he came down to ringside while the Funker was on his way to putting away the much bigger Bundy. Paul E. grabbed referee Ted "Theodore" Logan's attention while Rhyno snuck his way around and then into the ring. Readying himself, Rhyno awaited Funk who turned around right into a GORE! Rhyno dashed out of the ring and Paul E. backed up allowing referee Ted "Theodore" Logan to resume his job of officiating the match. Bundy gathered himself, took a bounce off the ropes and charged the staggering Funk in the corner squashing him with The Avalanche!

After the match...
Following the match, Paul E. and Rhyno slid back into the ring and Paul E. asked for a microphone. Paul E. once again apologized to Terry Funk saying this had nothing to do with Funk and that Funk just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Paul E. then went on to say that the newest member of the Dangerous Alliance was none other than King Kong Bundy and he guarenteed that either Bundy or Rhyno would be the man to take the JWA World Championship and the power of the JWA at Hell Bent For Glory.

Backstage...
"The Masterpiece" Chris Masters is talking to himself in the mirror saying that Eddie is nothing more than lucky for beating him two nights in a row. He says to himself that he will have his time and it will be much sooner than later. As Masters begins posing to himself in the mirror, Batista confronts him. Batista reminds Masters that not only did he LOSE twice in a row to the same guy, but he GAVE UP twice in a row. Masters looks pissed but he's speechless as Batista just walks off with a snicker on his face.

Match #5; JWA World Championship Tournament Qualifying Match
Carlito Caribbean Cool
defeated Andre The Giant by forfeit.
- Carlito came to the ring and looked prepared to wrestle. Everyone waited anxiously for the Eight Wonder of the World, but he never showed. After a couple of minutes, a staff member from the back came to the ring and informed the referee that something had happened and that Andre would have to forfeit his match tonight. So Carlito advances on a forfeit... lucky break.

Match #6; JWA World Championship Tournament Qualifying Match
"The King" Harley Race
pinned Rey Mysterio Jr. with the Piledriver in 0:16:20.
Rating: ** 1/2
- Before the match began Harley Race was boasting on the microphone about being "The King" of the JWA and that after winning this tournament there would be no doubt about it. This was the longest match of the night but very entertaining throughout. Race is a magnificent wrestler and Mysterio is easily one of the cruiserweights in the world. In the end, Mysterio nailed the 619 and waited for Race to get to his feet. Mysterio sprung onto the top rope looking for the West Coast Pop, but Race stopped Mysterio's momentum going through the legs, pulled up back up in position, and nailed a gruesome piledriver for the win...

After the match...
Instead of Race's music playing over the speakers we heard Jerry Lawler's music. Lawler came out from behind the curtain with a microphone and began challenging Race's claims of being "The King" of the JWA. Lawler said he was not only "The King" of the JWA and that he was "The King" of professional wrestling! The fans were solidly behind Lawler's claims. Lawler then said that next week in the Quarterfinals that it was scheduled to be Lawler and Race head-to-head and that next week we would find out just who is "The King!"

Match #7; JWA World Championship Tournament Qualifying Match
"The Immortal" Hulk Hogan
pinned Christian with the Atomic Leg Drop in 0:07:16.
Rating: **
- Christian came out acknowledging the small amount of fans he had in the building... and Hogan came out to an extraordinary ovation! It was a great match going back and forth with Christian nearly winning with the Unprettier but Hogan managed to kick out! Hogan was 'hulking up' and sending Christian into next Tuesday with a series of punches followed with the Big Boot. Only one thing could be next... the Atomic Leg Drop!

Match #8; JWA World Championship Tournament Qualifying Match
"The Game" Triple H
pinned Batista the Pedigree in 0:06:53.
Rating: * 3/4
- This was definatly a match to look forward to as two top guys in professional wrestling were squaring off. It's unfortunate that one of these two will not be permitted to wrestle for the JWA World Championship but that's what the rules state. The match started and Batista was dominate in the opening minutes tossing Triple H all over the ring. Triple H needed a breather so he headed outside of the ring, but Batista gave chase. Triple H slid back in the ring and when Batista followed, Triple H cut him off with an elbowdrop. Triple H began working over Batista hoping to get a pinfall, but Batista fought back nailing a brutal clothesline and spinebuster for a 2 count. Looking for a way out, Triple H hit a low blow on Batista which bought him some time. He began untying the top turnbuckle pad. Referee Bill S. Preston, Esq. was yelling at Triple H to stop or he would DQ him! Batista came up from behind and starting pulling Trips away by the hair. The referee starting repairing the top turnbuckle pad and Triple H kicked backward nailing a SECOND low blow on Batista. Trips turned, hooked, and dropped Batista with the Pedigree! The referee turned in time to make the three count and Triple H advances into the tournament.

Overall: **
