GLWF Action TV: 4/2/05...

americamamushiPosted on 01/14/06 at 08:40:45

Welcome once again to GLWF Action TV!  We're coming to you from the Convis Softball Field at Barly Park in Battle Creek, Michigan for not only our first event outside of our Kalamazoo facilities, but our first out door event as well and lucky for us, no rain or snow!  It's a bit brisk, but the fans don't seem to mind as they get ready for some great wrestling action.  On tonight's card we've got Austin Aries vs. Harry Smith, Doug Williams vs. Bryan Danielson, Sonny Siaki vs. Amazing Red, Ernest Miller & Rene Dupree vs. Jimmy Jacobs & Shocker, and in the main event H.B. Cade vs. Bobby Lashley!  Now lets get down to Clara Michaels for the opening match.

Clara Michaels: Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the GLWF!  Our first match is a singles match scheduled for one fall!  Introducing first... from Milwaukee, Wisconsin... weighing in at 202lbs... Austin Aries!  And his opponent... from Calgary, Alberta, Canada... weighing in at 251lbs... "Bulldog" Harry Smith!

Austin Aries was out here alone tonight.  It looked like Aries was expecting Traci & Shane to come out to the ring during his match as he kept longingly staring at the entrance when the openings would arise.  Aries lucked out several times and his high impact style kept Smith dazed long enough that the that he couldn't capitalize on Aries' attention span.  Aries luck eventually ran out and Smith caught him coming off the top rope and hit the Running Powerslam!  His ring positioning was bad though and Aries had just enough gas to put a limp foot on the rope.  Smith controlled the rest of the match and simply overpowered Aries' last ditch effort at a comeback.  One more family trademark Running Powerslam was all she wrote.

Harry Smith pinned Austin Aries with the Running Powerslam in 0:07:43.
Rating: ** 3/4

Clara Michaels: Our next match is a singles match scheduled for one fall!  Introducing first... from Aberdeen, Washington... weighing in at 185lbs... "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson!  And his opponent... from Maidstone, Kent, England... weighing in at 235lbs... "The Anarchist" Doug Williams!

Williams was all about business and violence tonight.  On a professional level he wanted to get a win, but on a personal level he wanted to mame Bryan Danielson for eliminating him in the Battle Royal last week.  Williams an Danielson ended up pretty much just brawling.  Brawling with a few simple wrestling holds that didn't tend to last terribly long.  Danielson tried to change the pace of the match, but was quickly shown by Williams that the pace wasn't going to be changing anytime soon with a back suplex that almost looked to drop Danielson flush on his head.  It wasn't that Danielson wasn't getting offense in, he was.  Less than half, but still, he was hanging in there, it just wasn't his match.  He was wrestling the match that Williams wanted to wrestle. Williams got an opportunity to hit the Chaos Theory as AmDrag was sufficiently dazed and went for it.  He pushed Danielson into the corner and rolled him back in a reverse rolling cradle, but as soon as the two were standing again Danielson reverses the waistlock, pushes Williams into the corner quickly and hits a surprise rolling reverse cradle!  Danielson gets the three count of Doug Williams!  Danielson has mind enough to get out of the ring after the three was counted because Doug Williams was furious.  He couldn't believe he had been pinned.  As Danielson was slapping the hands of some fans Williams came tearing up the aisle with a steel chair and clocked AmDrag hard from behind.  Williams got a sick smile on his face after that bone chilling thud.

Bryan Danielson pinned Doug Williams after a rolling reverse cradle in 0:06:55.

Clara Michaels: Our next match is a singles match scheduled for one fall!  Introducing first... from the Isle of Samoa... weighing in at 242lbs... Sonny Siaki!  And his opponent... from Brooklyn, New York... weighing in at 162lbs... the Amazing Red!

Sonny Siaki felt confident enough going into this match that he put the Universal title on the line.  Of course, Siaki seems to attend the Michael Shane school of retaining your title at any cost, even if it means a countout or DQ.  Red caught Siaki off guard and managed to keep Siaki purely on the defensive.  They had some nice quick spots, but it always ended with Red on top.  Siaki got a break when Red ran at him for a clothesline, but Siaki nabbed the little bugger and threw him over his head with a nice belly-to-belly suplex.  Siaki grabbed Red in a pumphandle and seemed to (albeit prematurely) go for the Siakolypse NOW but when he got Red up on his shoulder, Red scooted off.  Siaki turned around and Red hit a hard enzuigiri that turned Siaki inside out.  One, two, three!

Amazing Red pinned Sonny Siaki after an enzuigiri in 0:05:32.
Rating: *** 1/4

It didn't take long before Siaki came to after that shot and it was just in time to see the ref awarding Red with his ridiculous cardboard belt with the sparkles, racing stripes... and for some reason... unicorn stickers as well this week.  Amazing Red gives it a funny look, then looks at Siaki... and he's tearing the belt in half!  He's ripping Siaki's belt up!  Siaki looks to have gone into shock!  Red celebrates and the fans cheer him.  Siaki literally has to be almost carried from the ring by the reffing staff and security he's in such a state of shock.

Clara Michaels: Our next match is a tag team match scheduled for one fall!  Introducing first... at a total combined weight of 474lbs... "The French Phenom" Rene Dupree & "The Cat" Ernest Miller!  And their opponents... at a total combined weight of 365lbs... "The Barbaric Berserker" Jimmy Jacobs & "1,000% Guapo" Shocker!

Both teams worked well together.  Dupree and Miller seemed to hold the edge as far as working in sync, but Jacobs and Shocker worked surprisingly well for it being their first time teaming.  It was a real nice crisp looking match and everyone really looked good and got a fair amount of ring time.  Dupree & Miller used some heelish tactics, but there wasn't any one real time where they needed to use them, it seemed more like they did it out of habit.  Just when you thought one team would take it, the other comes back and you think it'll go the other way.  The crowd was really behind Shocker & Jacobs.  And chants of "Huss!" or "Guapo!" would brake out when they'd hit big offensive streaks.  Jimmy Jacobs ducked a Feliner and Miller made a quick diving tag to Dupree.  Dupree tried to get the jump on Jacobs, but with no luck as Jacobs had punches and chops a flyin' by the time Dupree got to him.  He grabs Dupree... Contra Code!  Dupree kicks at 2.9!  Jacobs picks Dupree up and throws him into the turnbuckle.  Jacobs comes running in but is met with a rock hard clothesline!  Dupree picks Jacobs up and hits the French Riviera!  Jimmy Jacobs lands awkwardly on his neck.  Dupree pins... 1.... 2... 3!  Dupree & Miller celebrate by dancing for the crowd as Shocker and the ref check on Jimmy Jacobs, who has to be taken out of the ring on a backboard by EMTs and is taken immediately to the hospital.  As they were carrying Jimmy to the ambulance parked on the field behind the crowd the fans gave him a standing ovation.

Rene Dupree and Ernest Miller defeated Jimmy Jacobs and Shocker when R. Dupree pinned J. Jacobs after the French Riviera in 0:17:58.
Jimmy Jacobs suffered a neck injury. He will be out for approximately 10 month (He'll be out until early February 2006).

Paul Burchill: Samoa Joe, last week we both got screwed out of the Heavyweight title.  But more importantly, I got screwed out of the Heavyweight title, all thanks to you.  We all know that you can't beat Shane, but I can and the fans know it *the Burchill factions of the crowd cheer, the Samoa Joe factions of the crowd boo a little*  That's why next week we're going to have a #1 Contender match for the Heavyweight title. *no matter which man they'll be rooting for, it seems the fans are excited for this match*

Clara Michaels: Our next match is a singles match scheduled for one fall!  Introducing first... from San Antonio, Texas... weighing in at 271lbs... "The Show Stopper" H.B. Cade!  And his opponent... from the Missouri Valley... weighing in at 260lbs... he is one half of the Great Lakes Tag Team champions... Bobby "The Bulldozer" Lashley!

Cade tries to start off strong, but can't seem to damage Lashley enough with punches and kicks.  He goes for an early superkick, but Lashley ducks and chucks Cade over his head with a belly-to-belly suplex.  Cade tries to get up right after, but is a little dazed, which allows Lashley to stay on the attack.  Lashley socks and slams Cade for a bit until Cade hit a well placed poke to the eyes.  Lashley grabbed his eye and backed off a bit and the ref turned his attention to Lashley to see if he was ok.  While this was happening Cade quickly undid his wrist tape, pulled a small, thick metal plate out of his boots and used the wrist tape to tape it to the bottom of his boot.  Lashley turned around... Superkick with the loaded boot!!  Lashley is out cold, Cade gets an easy three count and gets the hell out of the ring before the ref can notice his augmented footware.  Cade & Raven now both have singles wins over the tag team champions and have officially been awarded another shot at the tag team titles next week, April 9th, back in Kalamazoo.

[MAIN EVENT]:
H.B. Cade pinned Bobby Lashley with the Superkick in 0:05:09.
Rating: 1/2*

Next week we'll be back home at the GLWF facilities in Kalamazoo and we've already got a great card on the horizon.  Bryan Danielson & Harry Smith will team up and face Doug Williams & Austin Aries, Michael Shane will be in non-title action against Josh Abercrombie, the Destruction Crew will be defending their tag team titles against Raven & H.B. Cade, and in the main event we'll have a #1 Contender match between Paul Burchill and Samoa Joe!  We'll see you next week everyone!

Holy cow.. Jimmy Jacobs gone.. almost forever (let's face it, 10 months is a hell of a long time in TNM..) makes for a good feud when he's back though :)

As a follow-up to the question I asked earlier.. about how you co-operate.. in OVW, it is the WWE who decides who is recruited.. so to speak.. how do you two handle that?

I gave him a list of I believe 12 wrestlers I wanted signed to developmental deals.  So he started with those and then added some of his own (Raven, The Cat, Rene Dupree, and Shocker I believe).  From there, when I want someone else signed (most recently, Lashley and Tank Toland), I tell him and he finds a place.
