This thread will house all things to do with Texas Championship Wrestling.

---------------------------------------------------------------

INAGURAL CARD
Rumble in Big D!
Location:  Cowboys Dance Hall
Paid Attendance:  550(STANDING ROOM ONLY!)

An announcement was made that the two titles in TCW will remain vacant for the time being until the boys in the back "seperate" themselves from the pack.

With that, we're onto the matches!

Match One
The Fabulous Freebirds(Jimmy Garvin and Michael Hayes)
[vs]
The Hard Liners(Dick Murdoch and Dick Slater)

The inagural match in TCW history was an exciting tag team match between the Freebirds and the Hard Liners.  Hayes and Garvin were accompanied to the ring by their partner-in-crime Terry "Bamm Bamm" Gordy, the fans were solidly behind the jiving Freebirds as they danced their way to the ring to what some call the greatest theme in wrestling history--Badstreet USA.

The Hard Liners were met with a mixed reaction, some of the Cowboys in the audience liking the two while the rest knew of some of the previous acts of the two, nonetheless the match begun.

A lot of back and forth action with frequent tags, Garvin and Hayes worked well together with Gordy cheering them on, Slater and Murdoch on the other hand looked like they were just ready for a fight.  Time and time again the Hard Liners tried to result to brawling but Hayes and Garvin weren't having any of that, after nice teamwork by the Freebirds on Murdoch they got the win before Slater could break up the count courtesy of a Michael Hayes DDT!

The Fabulous Freebirds <Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin> defeated The Hard Liners <Dick Murdoch and Dick Slater> when M. Hayes pinned Murdoch with the DDT in 11:09.
Rating: **

Match Two
"Cowboy" Bob Orton
[vs]
"Gentleman" Chris Adams

Orton came out to mostly boos, wearing his infamous cast on his "injured" arm.  Yelling loudly with the fans at ringside  before the match resulted in the crowd going into full-fledged "BOO THAT MAN!" mode.  All that was turned around in a matter of seconds as "Gentleman" Chris Adams came down to the delight of the Dallas fans.

Adams, known for his work in the Dallas area was definitely the fan favorite in this match.  The match started and Bob Orton took the advantage right away, using dastardly tactics like choking and using the ropes on a few pin attempts.  Head referee Robert Logan teased disqualifying the man from Missouri on multiple occasions but never pulled through.

After decimating Adams the entire match Orton took a little bit of time to gloat for what he thought would be an oncoming victory but instead turned wrong for him when he was planted right in the kisser with a beautiful Superkick by the Gentleman and the 1, 2, 3 followed.

Chris Adams pinned Bob Orton with the Superkick in 11:33.
Rating: * 3/4

Orton kicked at the ropes following the match, throwing a tantrum as the fans laughed towards him.  Cowboy looked mighty miffed as he made his way backstage, I don't think this will be the last we'll hear from him.

The crowd was pumped up after the Adams victory until stepping from behind the curtain came John Bradshaw Layfield.  JBL looked smugly out at the small crowd gathered in the dance hall as he entered the ring.  Calling for a microphone, he was obliged, much to the chagrin of the audience.

JBL:  *sniffing in the air* Can you smell that? It smells like the future Texas Championship Wrestling standing right in this very ring in front of you idiot fans!

[Cheap boos rain down from the crowd.]

JBL:  Even people as ignorant and with little home training as you can figure out that greatness stands before you, a true warrior in the ring.  Admit it, I'm your _HERO_.

[More boos, a few fans throw cups half-filled with beer at Layfield who just swats them down before bringing him any harm.]

JBL:  Watch out with your heathen ways.  This Cowboy hat probably cost more than most of your houses.  I won't stand here and let you try and deface me, I will _NOT_ be made to look like a fool for you!  How about I do this for you?  Since a man like myself doesn't like to hold grudges I'll whip any wrestler's ass who thinks he can take me.

[Barry Windham's music plays to a loud roar from the audience, Windham comes down, pointing at JBL along the way.]

JBL:  Windham?!  You've got to be kidding me?  This will be easy, sit down peons, you are about ta' witness a true WRESTLING _GAWD_!

[JBL drops the mic and motions for Windham to come on, Barry obliges and we've got a match on our hands!  Robert Logan runs down to the ring as fast as he can to referee the match.]

Open Challenge Match
Barry Windham
[vs]
John Bradshaw Layfield

Maybe realizing he had bit off more than he could chew JBL looked lost for the first part of the match.  Windham dominated early on, getting a few near pin falls right off of the bat, the fans cheered Barry on as he started working over the leg of JBL.

JBL finally mounted some offense at about the 4 minute mark, making a slight comeback drawing some decent heat from the fans.  At about the 6 and a half minute mark JBL tried his Clothesline From Hell but was ducked under by Windham, who clipped out the knee he was previously working over and locked on a figure four.

Layfield tried to fight his way out of the maneuver but inevitably falling prey to the deadly leg submission.

Barry Windham defeated John Bradshaw Layfield when John Bradshaw Layfield passed out in a  figure-four leglock in 07:36

Match Four
"Ravishing" Rick Rude
[vs]
"The Texas Tornado" Kerry Von Erich

The crowd was hot for this match as it featured two of the brightest stars in TCW, the city's favorite son Kerry Von Erich taking on Rick Rude.  Back and forth action was the name of the game here, just when one wrestler would get the advantage the other would mount a quick comeback.

Of note in this match was how Rude steadily got the crowd more and more against him by his constant gyrating of his hips.  It seemed like after every move he would gyrate his hips, it almost cost him the match as Von Erich showed a lot of heart with a good flurry of offense.  In the end though Rude delivered his Rude Awakening finisher and took the match.

Rick Rude pinned Kerry Von Erich with the Rude Awakening in 10:56
Rating:  ** 1/2

Tag Team Match
Big Boss Man and "Double J" Jeff Jarrett
[vs]
The Funk Brothers(Dory Funk Jr. and Terry Funk)

This was a very good match between these four, Jarrett and Bossman worked very well together as a team as did the Funk Brothers.  The crowd loved the Funks though and they had the definite edge when it came to support.

Double-team moves in abundance was the name of the game as fluid teamwork continued on, every time it looked as though the match was over one of the men would come in and break up the count.

With only seconds remaining it looked like the Funks were going to come away with a victory after a Terry Funk piledriver on Jeff Jarrett but Bossman came in and broke up the count before Dory could stop him.  The match ended with a draw, much to the dismay of the fans.

Big Boss Man and Jeff Jarrett and The Funk Brothers <Dory Funk Jr. and Terry Funk> battled to a draw in 20:00.
Rating:  *** 1/4

After the battle Boss Man helped Jarrett to his feet as Dory tended to Terry, the four men were recieving a round of applause from the audience until Jarrett grabbed his guitar from ringside and absolutely _PLASTERED_ Funk across the head, shattering the wood all over the place.  Dory tried to grab Jarrett but was met with a kick to the stomach by the Boss Man, who threw him into the ropes and planted him with a Boss Man Slam.

BBM and Double J left laughing as the fans booed, Terry Funk was busted wide open from the shot and Dory clutched at his ribs inside the ring.

Match Six
Jerry "The King" Lawler
[vs]
"The Lariat" Stan Hansen

Hard-hitting but short match between these two, a nice little brawl was brewing as they made their way along the outside and towards the audience, Lawler played to the fans nicely and garnered a good amount of heat.

Stan was hitting some stiff shots until a kick to the midsection, a DDT, a clothesline, and a flying fistdrop later and Lawler came away with the surprisingly short victory.

Jerry Lawler pinned Stan Hansen after a flying fistdrop in 4:38.
Rating:  * 3/4

Semi-Main Event
Bob Backlund
[vs]
"The Total Package" Lex Luger

This match didn't garner any heat from the fans at all.  It was long, slow and just a pain to watch overall.  Luger kept throwing up "nWo Wolfpac" signs up to the confusement of the fans while Backlund definitely couldn't carry the match since he has absolutely no charisma.

They tried and tried but this just wasn't going well, the fans were booing both men's performances and the only cheer came when the match finally ended with Backlund locking Luger in the Crossface Chickenwing.

Bob Backlund made Lex Luger submit to the Crossface Chickenwing in 14:17.
Rating: -3/4

Luger looked confused as he left the ring, clutching at his neck and throwing up the "nWo Wolfpac" sign.

MAIN EVENT-THREE-WAY DANCE
"Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers
[vs]
Greg "The Hammer" Valentine
[vs]
"The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes

The fans were fired up for the main event and the excitement and enjoyment ran throughout the building.  Although not a great "wrestling" match it was very entertaining as the crowd was hot.

Rogers and Rhodes were the two stars of the match, battling back and forth and getting a good reaction when they were in the ring with one another.  The Hammer did a good job as well, even dominating Dusty for a portion of the match until the American Dream mounted a comeback.

Rhodes and Rogers were squaring off until Valentine tagged himself in, much to the dismay of Dusty Rhodes.  He argued with referee Michael Thomas about the tag but Thomas told him to shut up and go back to his corner.  Not wanting to be DQ'ed Dusty obliged but looked pissed the rest of the match.

Buddy Rogers and Valentine took it to one another the rest of the match and the contest ended when Valentine tried to atomic drop Rogers, Buddy reversed with a backward kick then planted him with a great piledriver for the victory! Nature Boy wins the first ever TCW main event!

Buddy Rogers defeated Greg Valentine and Dusty Rhodes when B. Rogers pinned Valentine with a piledriver in 11:32.

Two words....

Awesome card!

Can't wait to read more...
Rick GarrardPosted on 01/04/06 at 04:04:21

I agree Masked Texican.  It has that Sportatorium feel to it.  Too bad it was apparently already booked the night rebel ran the card.  ;)
VertigoPosted on 01/06/06 at 21:38:50

Good card. Does this fed use a rule sheet? I liked everything except that the fans reacted to Windham's music when this is the first show... how would they know it's his music? Haha... sorry...
rebelins313Posted on 01/07/06 at 00:01:33

Nah, no rule sheet, no booking for winner or anything like that.  It's all just based on what matches I set-up and I just give my comments to whatever goes on.  What you said about Windham is true, didn't even think about that.

Thanks for the feedback Vertigo.

Texas Championship Wrestling

Card Numero Dos!
Location:  Billy Bob's Texas(Ft. Worth)
Paid Attendance:  600

Tonight the _ENTIRE_ TCW roster will be in action, the main event of the evening is between Greg "The Hammer" Valentine versus "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes!

The night started off with JBL coming out to the ring to a large amount of boos, after his defeat at the hands of Barry Windham last week has left JBL with a very pissed off look across his face.  Calling for a mic JBL wastes no time to start the whining.

JBL:  Last week, that no good punk Barry Windham took advantage of a serious injury I sustained from the mindless peons in the audience of Cowboys Dance Hall.

[A WTF? like silence goes through the audience.]

JBL:  You see, after I made the call out and just told the truth to everyone there I was hit with a glass of beer from out in the audience, resulting in a puffy left eye!

[JBL points to his left eye, which looks completely normal.  The fans boos, knowing it's just an excuse.]

JBL:  What do I do?  I fight through it like the true rasslin' GAWD that I am and that no-good Windham steals a victory out of my grasp!

[More boos as JBL continues.]

JBL:  This week, I want a re-match.  Windham, if you are man enough to fight me on an even playing field then get your ass out here!

[JBL throws the mic down and awaits the arrival of Windham.  The fans jump up in a huge pop as Barry makes his way down, signaling our first match of the night!]

Grudge Match
Barry Windham
[vs]
John Bradshaw Layfield

JBL showed that he had something to prove tonight as he really took it to Windham.  Barry was to be no slouch though, the fans in solid support of him tonight.  The two men battled back and forth, brawling throughout the arena but always entering back into the ring before a countout could occur.  Multiple times in the match JBL jawed with fans at ringside which caused a lot of hate to be thrown his way.  Eventually JBL took home the victory with a vicious Clothesline From Hell, really jacking the jaw of Barry Windham.  Trash was all that was left as Layfield left the ring victorious, looking like he won the Super Bowl.  A very good match between the two.

John Bradshaw Layfield pinned Barry Windham with the Clothesline From Hell in 15:18.
Rating:  *** 1/2

Next up we had some tag team action as the team of Rick Rude and Stan Hansen took on perennial fan favorites Chris Adams and Kerry Von Erich.  All four men had matches last week, with Rude beating Kerry, Adams defeating Orton and Hansen losing to Jerry Lawler.

Tag Team Action!
"Gentleman" Chris Adams and "The Texas Tornado" Kerry Von Erich
[vs]
"Ravishing" Rick Rude and "The Lariat" Stan Hansen.

An unlikely combination in Rude and Hansen were impressive in this match, showing some good heelish team work and working over the fan favorites.  Adams and Von Erich, no stranger to one another as Adams is well-known in the Dallas area.  An exciting, back and forth action between the four men ended with just _TWO_ seconds left before a draw when Hansen nailed Adams with his patented Lariat.  Seems to be the move of choice tonight.

Rick Rude and Stan Hansen defeated Chris Adams and Kerry Von Erich when Hansen pinned Adams with the Lariat in 19:58.
Rating:  **

Two men coming off victories last week squared off next as Jerry "The King" Lawler took on Bob Backlund!

Singles Match
Jerry "The King" Lawler
[vs]
Bob Backlund

Contrasting styles mixed together to a fairly enjoyable match.  The crowd was solidly behind the King as Backlund isn't much of a fan favorite with his "no emotion" approach and his mat-based offense. Lawler looked to have the match won after a nice shoulderblock, referee Michael Thomas had an extremely slow two count and Backlund got the shoulder up.  Lawler got into Thomas' face over the count as the fans cheered for Jerry to give it to him!  Lawler grabbed Michael by the shirt, about to rear back but Backlund caught The King's hand, spun him around and locked on a small package for a very fast three count.  The fans were _PISSED_ after this one.

Bob Backlund pinned Jerry Lawler after an inside cardle in 13:09.
Rating:  * 3/4

After the commotion in the ring, Lawler and Backlund finally left.  Jerry had to be restrained from attacking Michael Thomas, who fled with Backlund.  The fans were excited from the last match but their cheers turned to solid boos as out from the back walked Dick Murdoch, Dick Slater, and Bob Orton.  Murdoch looked to be the ring leader of the three, of note were the _FAT_ dips that the trio had in their respective mouths.  A little disgusting as some dribbled out of Murdoch's lips as he began to speak.

DM:  Why do ya' boys and girls out thare gotta boo the Hard-Liners and the Cowboy, huh?  Because ya' know that we're real men?  Or is it because we're not those slack-jawed sissies The Freebirds?

[The fans cheer at the mention of the Fabulous Freebirds, Murdoch spits a large stream of brown into the middle of the ring.]

DM:  Ya' may be askin' yerself why we'd come out here with the Cowboy?  Why would men like Slater and myself need someone else hanging around with us?  Well, it's simple really.  Even ya' people can figure it out.  The Cowboy is the only other _REAL_ man in this piss-poor federation.  So tonight, we're goin' to start our way towards the top and challenge those fairies the Fabulous Freebirds to a six-man match, right here and right now!

["Badstreet, USA" plays over Billy Bob's sound system to a large pop from the crowd.  Out from the back struts Michael "PS" Hayes, Jimmy "Jam" Garvin, and Terry "Bamm Bamm" Gordy.  The three slaps hands with the fans on their way down.  Hayes enters the ring and steps right up to Murdoch, Gordy and Garvin right behind his back.  All six men stare each other down.]

MH:  Sissies, are we?  Fairies you say?  Well if that's the case then you got your asses whipped by some sissies last week and in your mind you'll be gettin' whipped again by some fairies this week.  You want some of the Freebirds?  Let's do this.

[Hayes rips off his jacket and he and Murdoch begin wailing on one another.]

Six-Man Tag!
The Fabulous Freebirds <Michael Hayes, Terry Gordy, and Jimmy Garvin>
[vs]
The Hard Liners <Dick Murdoch and Dick Slater> and "Cowboy" Bob Orton

Although the fans were fired up for the match, it turned out to not be much of anything.  While Hayes and Murdoch did brawl to begin, Dick slid outside of the ring and Orton entered the ring for his team.  PS hit him with what looked like a very stiff DDT that jarred the Cowboy quite a bit.  Bob seemed to be out of it after the fact and Slater rushed into the ring.  Very quickly after that he passed out in a DDT from Hayes.  A disappointment as far as a match was concerned but we found out why afterwards.

The Fabulous Freebirds <Michael Hayes, Terry Gordy and Jimmy Garvin> defeated The Hard Liners <Dick Murdoch and Dick Slater> and Bob Orton when M. Hayes defeated Slater when Slater passed out in a sleeperhold in 2:00.
Bob Orton suffered a neck injury.  He will be out for approximately 9 cards.
Rating:  * 1/4

Buddy Rogers came down to the ring and graced the fans with his precense.

BR:  Well, well, well, it looks as though the man is here!

[Rogers outstretches his arms to a wave of boos from the fans in attendance.]

BR:  On the first card of this fine federation the man standing right in front of you, the real "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers defeated two really good, but inferior opponents.  One was Greg "The Hammer" Valentine.

[Crowd boos at the mention of Valentine's name.]

BR:  The other was "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes.

[The fans give Rogers the ol' "YOU DIDN'T BEAT HIM!" boo, if you can really discern between boos that is.]

BR:  It couldn't happen to a nicer guy, that's for sure.  No way could any other man outlast those two like I did.  Boy am I great.  Tonight, I think I may even take the night of--

[Rogers is cut off to cheers by the fans as out from the back comes Lex Luger.]

LL:  No way are you taking the night off Rogers, I don't have a match and I need some one to wrestle.  Come on, "Nature Boy".  Show me what you've got.

[Rogers seems to laugh it off, taking his flashy robe off and hanging it over the top rope.]

BR:  Come on Luger, I'll show you who the real "Total Package" is.

Challenge Match!
"The Total Package" Lex Luger
[vs]
"The Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers

Surprisingly Bob Backlund came down to ringside just as the match started.  Luger looked outside at Backlund who defeated him last week, Lex decided he needed to concentrate on the match at hand instead of of outside interference and the match was on.

Luger came out on fire, hitting his Running Forearm Smash on Buddy Rogers right after the bell sounded and almost got a three count right then and there.  This resulted in the fans chanting Luger's name periodically throughout the match.  Rogers used his experience to his advantage, bending the rules in every way possible during the match.

The fight went to the outside and Rogers was busted open from Luger running him into the guardrail.  As the referee checked on the condition of the Nature Boy, Backlund hit Luger from behind much to the chagrin of the audience.

Back in and Luger got another near three count by hitting _ANOTHER_ Running Forearm Smash but Backlund put Rogers' leg onto the ropes.  More boos filled the arena as the match continued on.  Rogers concentrated on the knee of Luger throughout and had Lex visibly limping towards the end.  The Total Package knocked Rogers outside and tried his best to rest the leg, wanting to alleviate some of the pain.  Robert Logan began counting Rogers out who by this time was bleeding all over himself.  Backlund helped Buddy to his feet and slid him back under the ropes just in time.  Logan teased a DQ on Rogers but inevitably let the match continue.

The final straw came as Luger tried lifting Rogers up for the Torture Rack, Luger's knee gave out and Rogers slid down Lex's back.  Quickly Rogers clipped Lex's knee out from under him then applied the feared Figure-Four Leglock.  With the crowd chanting from him Luger last as long as he could, reaching out for the ropes but finally tapping to the hold.

Buddy Rogers made Lex Luger submit to the Figure-Four Leglock in 14:34.
Rating:  ** 1/4
[Bob Backlund interfered against Lex Luger.]

Our semi-main event was up next with a rematch from last week between the Funk Brothers and Double J with Big Boss Man.  These two teams put on a heck of a show last week that resulted in a draw.  The fans were cheering all four men until Jarrett and Boss Man laid a beating down upon the Funks.  This week we've got them against one another once again.

Semi-Main Event!
The Funk Brothers <Terry Funk and Dory Funk Jr.>
[vs]
"Double J" Jeff Jarrett and Big Boss Man

A fast-paced match between these four men, brawling on all sides and some good team work showcased by both.  Boss Man and Jarrett worked over Terry Funk in the corner, trying to break the older man down.  The Hardcore Legend as he's called by some came roaring back though, throwing Jarrett over the top rope and nailing Big Boss Man with a low blow, to which the fans actually cheered.  Hey, he's Terry Funk!

Funk made the hot tag to Dory, who came in and cleaned house on the heels.  Eventually though Jeff Jarrett started working over the back of Dory and isolated _HIM_ this time on their side of the ring.  The fans booed heavily as quick tags were executed between Boss Man and Jarrett, the end of the match came when Boss Man actually struggled to lift Dory into a bearhug but did lock the move on.  Both men looked to be in pain over the move until Dory gave up before Terry could break the hold.  The audience was none too pleased with this outcome.

Big Boss Man and Jeff Jarrett defeated The Funk Brothers <Terry Funk and Dory Funk Jr.> when Boss Man defeated D. Funk Jr. when D. Funk Jr. passed out in a bearhug in 05:20.
Big Boss Man suffered a back injury.  He will be out for approximately 1 card.
Rating:  ***

Jarrett and Boss Man left up the aisle smiling, Boss Man clutching at his back on the way up but all was well for these two.

Time for the main event!

MAIN EVENT
Greg "The Hammer" Valentine
[vs]
"The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes

Dusty got a huge face pop as he made his way to ringside.  These two are taking one another on as Dusty felt he was "cheated" if you will out of winning the match last week as he had complete control over Buddy Rogers but was tagged out by Greg Valentine out of nowhere.  Valentine went on to lose the match to Rogers before Rhodes could react.

These two went back and forth in this match, the crowd was pretty pumped for the action.  Valentine tried working over the arm of Rhodes, wanting to take away Dusty's biggest weapon and one of the best finishers in the world today--The Bionic Elbowdrop.  Dusty played to the crowd nicely, brawling when need be and showing off his fat power with a few nice moves here and there on Valentine.

Valentine also locked on the Figure-Four Leglock numerous times to Dusty, but Rhodes would never give up.  He looked close many times but always fought his way out in the end.  Limping and favoring his right arm at the same time it looked like Dusty had gotten whipped by Valentine tonight until he came roaring back.  A few shoulderblocks and a bodyslam but Rhodes firmly back into the lead until the match was stopped by the twenty minute time limit.  Both men looked confused and a little ticked off by the bell but referee Michael Thomas would not restart the match!

Greg Valentine and Dusty Rhodes battled to a draw in 20:00.
