GLWF Action TV: 3/12/05...

americamamushiPosted on 12/29/05 at 02:37:06

Welcome once again to GLWF Action TV!  We're coming to you from our facilities in Kalamazoo, Michigan and have we got a great show for you!  Tonight we'll finally crown the Great Lakes tag team champions as Harry Smith & Bryan Danielson face The Destruction Crew, plus we've got Samoa Joe & Paul Burchill taking on The Age of Shane.  *Alex Shelley's music hits* And it looks like we've got Alex Shelley to start things out tonight.  I wonder what he's doing out here.

Alex Shelley: Last week Jimmy Jacobs got a cheap win.  That's all it was, a cheap, lucky win that won't happen again.  Actually, that's why I'm out here.  I'm gonna prove to all your people here in Kalamazoo and all the people watching at home that Jimmy Jacobs is nothing compared to me.  He caught me off guard and got lucky.  Tonight he's gonna be suffering from a case of Shell Shock.  So play his music so he can start hussing his way down to the ring and we can get this thing started.

*Jacob's music hits and Jacobs husses down to the ring, fans behind him*

Looks like Alex Shelley really does want to prove what believes happened last week was luck on Jacobs' part.  He waited until the bell rang to attack and even wrestled a fairly clean match.  Things stayed even during the match, with each exchanging moves trying to not only keep up with the other, but out do them.  Jacobs did manage to get a quick near fall after a spear, but things picked right back up until Shelley popped up top and quickly popped back off onto Jacobs with a double axe-handle, but was met with a big boot by Jacobs and happened to land funny on his left leg.  Shelley was in obvious pain and Jacobs being the upstanding fan favorite he is didn't jump onto Shelley and attack, but instead allowed the ref to check on Shelley and he stopped the match seeing that Shelley needed medical attention.

[RE-MATCH]:
Jimmy Jacobs and Alex Shelley battled to a no contest in 0:03:08.
Alex Shelley tore his left achilles tendon. He will be out for approximately 5 months.

Clara Michaels: Our next match is a tag team match scheduled for one fall!  Introducing first... at a total combined weight of 550lbs... Samoa Joe & Paul Burchill!  And their opponents... at a total combined weight of 403lbs... Michael Shane & Austine Aries... The Age... Of... Shane!

Joe and Burchill were not happy with Michael Shane & Austin Aries for costing them their semi-final match last week in the Great Lakes tag team title tournament.  Joe hasn't been happy with Michael Shane for a while anyway as it was Michael Shane who beat Joe twice underhandedly, keeping Joe from the Great Lakes Heavyweight title.  The match was obviously Power vs. Speed & Cheating.  Joe and Burchill threw their weight around, but often found themselves on the receiving end of some dirty tactics and had trouble keeping up with Shane & Aries' pace at times too.  But when they could catch the Age of Shane, they put them through some hurting.  The Age of Shane worked well as a team and pulled off some nice tandem moves.  The crowd really got behind Burchill and Joe.  Especially Joe.  Shane didn't want to stay in the ring with Joe long if he didn't have a big advantage and mocked Joe everytime he tagged in Aries so that Joe couldn't get to him.  Traci didn't get involved much, but when things looked dire, she was quick to lend a helping hand.  In the end it was Shane & Burchill in the ring.  Shane had Burchill reeling after a nice combination of high impact, high risk attacks that paid off for him.  Joe and the crowd were begging for Burchill to make the tag to Joe.  Burchill looked like he was going to while Shane was show boating, but opted not to after all, knocked away a dropkick by Shane once Shane noticed Burchill was back up and quickly hit the C4 for the pinfall.

Samoa Joe and Paul Burchill defeated Michael Shane and Austin Aries when Burchill pinned M. Shane with the C4 in 0:26:02.
Rating: *** 1/4
[Traci Brooks interfered against Samoa Joe.]

Samoa Joe was not happy by any means that Burchill didn't tag him in when he had the chance and that it wasn't him that pinned his enemy Michael Shane.  Burchill apologized, not realizing he did anything wrong and the two shook and celebrated together, though you could tell the ending was weighing on Joe's mind.

Clara Michaels: Our main event match is a tag team match scheduled for one fall and is for the vacant Great Lakes Tag Team title belts!  Introducing first... at a total combined weight of 436lbs... Harry "Bulldog" Smith & "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson!  And their opponents... at a total combined weight of 485lbs... Tank Toland... Bobby "The Bulldozer" Lashley... The Destruction Crew!

Both teams put on a great show and the fans cheered and clapped for both parties.  Smith seemed to be working the best as a team they have yet.  That caught Lashley & Toland off guard and allowed them to take an early lead in the match.  Smith and Toland had a nice exchange with a few teases of their finishers, but no one managed to hit theirs yet.  Finishers were teased a lot during the match and each time the fans were left breathless as to whether the move would be hit and the match would end.  Danielson was the only one who actually used his finisher successfully during the match.  He locked the Cattle Mutilation into both opponents during the match, but both times it was quickly broken up by their partner.  Smith & Danielson did a good job of keeping Toland cut off from Lashley.  Toland was holding his own at times, but made the mistake of not tagging out when he had the advantage, even though he had taken quite a few lumps already.  The big tag to Lashley was teased several times, each time coming up short.  One time Toland actually got the tag, but the ref didn't see it and forced Lashley back out.  Lashley was itching to get in there and lay waste.  Finally Toland hit the Tank Turret out of no where, crawled over to Lashley and got the tag.  Lashley came in like a ball of fury and cleaned house.  Even with the talent of Danielson & Smith, they had been wrestling the whole match and Lashley was fresh.  It was just too much and when they tried to fight back they couldn't keep up with a fresh Bobby Lashley for long.  Lashley threw Smith out of the ring and hit Danielson with the Hammer of the Gods for the pinfall.

[GREAT LAKES TAG TITLE TOURNAMENT - FINALS]: Match for the vacant Great Lakes Tag Team titles:
The Destruction Crew (Bobby Lashley and Tank Toland) defeated Harry Smith and Bryan Danielson when Lashley pinned B. Danielson with the Hammer of the Gods in 0:16:05.
Rating: ***

After the match Lashley & Toland celebrated and the fans cheered.  Smith and Danielson snatched the titles away from Clara Michaels before she could award them to the Destruction Crew.  The air was tense as to what was going to happen.  After a second Smith and Danielson awarded Lashley & Toland the belts themselves, shook their hands, and raised their arms in victory in a true show of sportsmanship.  What a night from here in Kalamazoo!  That's all the time we have tonight, we'll see you next week for more GLWF action!

Awesome... The Destruction Crew deservedly take the tag titles. I'm expecting a long reign from them to bring lots of prestige to the titles..

Bummer about Alex Shelley though. I bet he'll be even angrier with Jacobs when he comes back.

Sad to see "The Next" injured.

This was a good card.

Basically, I mark for GLWF!

I'm one day older than Jimmy Jacobs.

He's still cooler that me though...  :-/
