GLWF Action TV: 3/5/05...

americamamushiPosted on 12/22/05 at 01:14:23

Welcome once again to GLWF Action TV!  We're coming to you from our facilities in Kalamazoo, Michigan and have we got a great show for you!  We'll see the semi-final matches in the Great Lakes tag team title tournament as well as two other great matches.  Let's get things started by handing things over to Clara Michaels ringside.

Clara Michaels: Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the Great Lakes Wrestling Federation!  Our first match is a singles match scheduled for one fall!  Introducing first... from Kalamazoo, Michigan... weighing in at 195lbs... Josh Abercrombie!  And his opponent... from the Isle of Samoa... weighing in at 242lbs... Sonny Siaki!

Siaki and Abercrombie were pretty evenly matched at first.  Neither got a clear upperhand and at times that really frustrated Siaki as we've been told he claims his Universal title is on the line.  Abercrombie took some risks, while Siaki played it safe, not wanting to lose his title... of course if he did lose it one would think he could make another for a buck and a half.  Even playing it safe, Siaki let himself miss a few key opportunities to get a victory.  Things started swinging Abercrombie's way and it looked like Siaki might lose his title.  Siaki couldn't catch a break and Abercrombie stayed on him like stink on a monkey.  Siaki was barely kicking out of pin attempts and looked like he was just trying to get the hell out of there.  Abercrombie kept him in the ring though.  Siaki finally got an opening to leave after getting his knees up when Abercrombie tried for the Phoenix Splash.  Siaki rolled out of the ring, grabbed his title and got the hell out of Dodge for the countout loss, keeping his title.

Josh Abercrombie defeated Sonny Siaki by countout in 0:19:21.
Rating: ** 1/2

Clara Michaels: Our next match is a singles match scheduled for one fall!  Introducing first... from Grand Rapids, Michigan... weighing in at 169lbs... "The Barbaric Berserker" Jimmy Jacobs!  And his opponent... from Detroit, Michigan... weighing in at 199lbs... "The Next" Alex Shelley!

Jacobs and Shelley started their match off with some comedy spots which all resulting in the crowd getting a big kick out of Alex Shelley looking like an idiot thanks to Jacobs.  After being tricked and fooled one too many time Shelley tore into Jacobs and took the ball into his court.  Shelley didn't use much fancy rasslin', but wore out Jacobs with well placed punches, kicks, and slams.  Jacobs had a few attempted come backs, but couldn't get passed Shelley's foul play to make any offense really stick.  Things were looking bleak and Shelley was getting more and more cocky as Jacobs seemed more and more hurt and beaten down.  Jacobs however was struck by the spirit of the red and yellow and hulked up.  The fans loved the site of the Barbaric Berserker "Hussing up" if you will.  Shelley couldn't figure out how Jacobs was getting back into the match.  And when Jacobs did the big point Shelley looked like he was about to wet himself.  Jacobs blocks a punch and connects with one of his own, and another, and another.  He whipped Shelley into the ropes, but Shelley reversed it Jacobs re-reversed it.  On his way back Shelley went for a spinning heel kick but Jacobs ducked and like lightning rolled Shelley into a small package the second Shelley was back on his feet for the three.  Shelley couldn't believe his eyes and protested to the ref as Jacobs rolled to the outside and celebrated with his fans.

Jimmy Jacobs pinned Alex Shelley after a small package in 0:12:28.
Rating: ** 1/4

Clara Michaels: Our next match is a semi-final match in the Great Lakes Tag Team title tournament and is scheduled for one fall!  Introducing first... at a total combined weight of 496lbs... Raven and "The Showstopper" H.B. Cade!  And their opponents... at a total combined weight of 485lbs... Tank Toland... Bobby "The Bulldozer" Lashley... The Destruction Crew!

The Destruction Crew have shown they can work well as a tag team, but seemed to have troubled gaining their GLWF footing last week against Ernest Miller & Rene Dupree.  Anyone who has seen them together before their GLWF debut know that this was a bit of a fluke though, possibly some jitters knowing that now the big dogs in GCW were definitely watching them.  In tonight's fight they were decidedly more efficient in the ring, but still gave up a rookie mistake or two to the veteran Raven who took full advantage of said mistakes.  H.B. Cade got majorly frustrated when he couldn't seem to "penetrate the armor" so to speak of Tank Toland.  Cade's chops and kicks didn't seem to do a whole lot once Toland was riled up.  Raven tried to pull the old "no tag" trick to get in and turn the tides, but the ref caught it.  Raven protested and Lashley jumped in the ring and took Raven out.  The two battled on the floor while Cade mounted a small comeback after hitting an atomic drop and a huge hiptoss.  He went for a high knee but only hit air.  Toland wound up while Cade regained his footing and smashed him with the Tank Turret.

[Great Lakes Tag Team Title Tournament - Semi-Finals]:
The Destruction Crew (Bobby Lashley and Tank Toland) defeated Raven and H.B. Cade when Tank pinned H.B. Cade with the Tank Turret in 0:08:22.
Rating: ** 3/4

The Destruction Crew are celebrating in the ring... Cade makes a distraction... Raven slides into the ring with a chair!  Smack to the back of Toland... and to the head of Lashley!  Evenflow onto the chair for Toland!  Raven and Cade head up the aisle to the back with smug looks on their faces.  Lashley and Toland are starting to stir and look quite unhappy to say the least.

Clara Michaels: And finally, our main event of the evening is a semi-final match in the Great Lakes Tag Team title tournament and is scheduled for one fall!  Introducing first... at a total combined weight of 436lbs..."Bulldog" Harry Smith & "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson!  And their opponents... at a total combined weight of 550lbs... Samoa Joe & Paul Burchill!

All four men shake hands with eachother before the match starts in a show of good sportsmanship.  After the ref rings the bell though, bedlam breaks loose.  Smith pairs off with Burchill and Danielson with Joe as they trade punches and chops and a few kicks.  Once the initial rumble dies down we're left with Smith and Burchill in the ring.  Smith is not slouch when it comes to power, but in the brute strength category, Burchill takes the cake.  Smith does a good job of avoiding devastating Burchill slams and suplexes, while trying to rely more on his technical and brawling skills rather than his power moves.  Both men try at make tags at various points, but get cut off, keeping Joe and Danielson out of the match proper.  Burchill knocked Danielson off the apron with a harsh lariat and got hit with a desperation dropkick from Smith that sent Burchill sailing into the ref.  Burchill and Smith really wore eachother out.  With the ref out of the picture Michael Shane, Traci, and Austin Aries took it upon themselves to come to ringside.  Joe noticed them and they 4 exchanged words.  Joe got off the apron to confront them and was double teamed almost imidiately.  Shane pulled out a pair of knux and slugged Joe with them.  They mossied on down to the ring right as Burchill and Smith were coming to.  Burchill noticed his fallen friend, Austin, Traci and Shane and went over to the ropes, sticking his head out to jaw at them.  Burchill was met with a knux shot of his own square in the face which caused him to stumble backwards, right into Harry Smith, who picked him up and nailed the Running Powerslam.  A groggy ref counted the three and the "Age of Shane" as they call themselves laugh at Joe and Burchill.

[Great Lakes Tag Team Title Tournament - Semi-Finals]:
Harry Smith and Bryan Danielson defeated Samoa Joe and Paul Burchill when Smith pinned Burchill with the Running Powerslam in 0:09:42.
Rating: ***
[Michael Shane & Austin Aries interfered against Paul Burchill & Samoa Joe.]

OK, time to repick my choice for the tag titles... Smith and Danielson, now Smith has picked up again. Plus, you know, love for the Brits.

Also, mass love for Siaki for taking a cheap loss to "save" his "title".

I've gotten hold of KotDM 05, so I've finally seen Abercrombie in action! He looks like a nice enough fellow, willing to take a mega-bump and still sportint that thick, lovely moustache of his.

I think Toland and Lashley will take the belts away.
