NAWA Gold Rush Preview(Predictions Welcomed)

MattHarmsPosted on 12/14/05 at 23:38:40

The Gold Rush Tournament:

Sixteen Men were eligible to qualify for this thing but it has now came down to the final eight. An NAWA original concept, this is the third annual Gold Rush Tournament. In 2002, Scott Hall won this event, beating the Dark Warrior(then the Ultimate Warrior) in the finals and last year, Harry Harris won, defeating Shane Douglas in the final round. This year, the tournament should be the most down the wire of all the years. Anyone can win this tournament, there is no filler in this tournament. Remember, the winner of this tournament will receive a shot at the NAWA World Title on June 20th at Night of the Rogues only on Pay Per View.

Prediction:

NAWA World Title Gauntlet Match:
The Hart Foundation, the Next Generation(Johnny Devine, Petey Williams, Jack Evans, and Teddy Hart) vs Ron Waterman(c):

Teddy Hart has been the NAWA Cruiserweight Champion for the past ten months but the Cruiserweight Title wasn't enough for Mr. Hart. Teddy got greedy, and set his sights on bigger goals. To instigate this championship match, Teddy Hart ran Waterman over with a car two months ago and let him stew in his juices for about a month, before revealing his crime to the world and Waterman suffered a henious four on one beatdown involving the HFNG. Waterman attempted to get revenge on Hart on 5/6/04, but Hart sacrificed Jack Evans and let Waterman beat the crap out of Evans, to make a get away. Later that night, The HFNG with help of the Archangels of Anarchy, pummeled Waterman once again. This led to Commissioner New Jack making a match and letting Teddy Hart choose the stipulation, due to Waterman breaking an order of New Jack for attempting to get at Teddy Hart. Hart chose a Gauntlet Match, where if Waterman got pinned by anyone, Hart is the NAWA World Champion. Hart is also at the end of the gauntlet and we do not know the order of the other three men. Plus a further handicap to Waterman, as Teddy Hart appears to have blinded Waterman a few weeks ago on Glory and Waterman may be forced to defend the title without vision. Teddy Hart has vowed to become the NAWA World Champion and play a part in ending the undefeated streak of Ron Waterman but you have got to believe, vision or no vision, as Waterman's medical reports have been closely guarded, Waterman will give Hart and his goons their money's worth.

Prediction:

Casket Match:
The Chosen One vs Norman Smiley:

These two have been the best of friends and the worst of enemies but this war heated up once again when Jeff Jarrett became the Chosen One, a unique gimmick to say the least. Norman was his object of torment and the Chosen One, not satisfied with victory, last month at Wildfire beat Norman to a pulp with a steel chair, causing a disqualification win for Norman. The following week, Norman saved AJ Styles from a Chosen One beating by hiding in the casket, and knocking the Chosen One inside. Now, a Casket Match has been announced and the Chosen One has promised that Norman Smiley will "suffer a similiar fate that Jeff Jarrett has suffered." The Chosen One is dangerous and quite deranged, and Norman may not be able to pull a miracle out this time. Gold Rush could be the final resting place for the career of Norman Smiley. One of these two men will be locked into a casket, and so the casket will be closed on this storied feud.

Prediction:

The Dark Warrior vs Kevin Nash:

This may be the most antipated match of the night, as the first one on one meeting between these two former World Champions. Two men that are legends in this great sport. This feud started when the Warrior attacked Nash and cost the Outsiders a tag team match against the Warrior's Triumvirate Team Mates Stylish and Lynn. Nash rebutted by giving a mocking promo, dressed as the Dark Warrior, which was filled with dozens upon dozens of utterings of the word "Destrucity". Warrior didn't apperciate Nash's standup rountine and Warrior whacked Nash again. This all led up to this past Thursday when Nash saved Mike Sanders from a beating from the Dark Warrior. A dream match in this sport, a battle of two legends, this Sunday at Gold Rush, Big Sexy collides with the Duke of Destrucity as Kevin Nash faces off against the Dark Warrior.

Prediction:

Winner Receives an NAWA World Tag Team Title Shot in the future:
Matt Bentley and Chris Sabin(w/Vince Russo) vs Elix Skipper and Kaz Hayashi:

Two great teams in the tag team division. The UJW Tag Team Champions Skipper and Hayashi and the upstart team of Sabin and Bentley. Both these teams want to position themselves in line for a shot at the Tag Belts so Commissioner New Jack has made this match at the Eleventh Hour. Whomever wins this match, will face off against the HFNG for the Tag Team Titles next week on Glory. The UJW Tag Team Titles will not be at stake.

Prediction:

Scaffold Match:
The French Revolution(Pierre Marquette and Lord Napoleon) vs the Backyard Dudes(F.R.E.D and Twizted Youth)

The latest chapter of this ever awesome feud, that has been raging on this October will take place. It all started when the French Revolution knocked out Ricky Ricardo of the Backyard Dudes with the Reign of Terror and he was put into a coma. We understand that Ricky Ricardo is slowly coming back to his senses and he may return in a couple of months, enough to justify extending this feud another couple of months. The first team to knock both of their opponents off of the three foot high(yes you read that right, three feet) into a children's wading pool of salsa(or the general area of the children's wading pool of salsa) will be the winner. This could very well get ugly, as these two bitter rivals face off.

Prediction:

Duel to Until One Man is Left Standing with Special Guest Referee New Jack, with Hi Tech and the thin guard that doesn't have a name, because he isn't in this match shackled to a ringpost:
Earl Obtuse(aka the portly guard in the Johnny Excalibur skits) vs Johnny Excalibur:

Back the year 1004 their was a fugitive knight named Johnny Excalibur. He apperantly irked some people who had power so he was sent to be captured by a couple of royal imperial guards or something like that. Excalibur was his name and mangling history was his game. Meanwhile some point in the future, The President of the United States, Paul Levesque wanted to create a super solider to stamp out the evil orginization of S.M.A.R.K. So a super solider prototype code named Hi Tech was created but due to a malfuction, a warp in time in space was opened and Hi Tech escaped before he can be fully programmed. On the other side of warp was Medeval England, where the evil imperial guards had finally captured Johnny Excalbur but due to this time warp opening, they managed to bumble around and get their backsides kicked by Hi Tech, who only knew one defensive move, the spinebuster. Through the time warp but it closed right in the year 2004, right in New Jack's office(funny how this all ties together), doesn't it. Hi Tech and Excalibur get jobs as NAWA janitors and business goes on usual until Excalibur's 1004 archenemies find their way to here with the help of the evil, very evil, almost cruel even, Lord Tallywhacker. More bumbling ensues and Excalibur challenges the portly guard, who we can reveal is named Earl Obtuse, to a match at Gold Rush or a duel to be more apt. Any weapons are legal and this match ends when New Jack declares that one man cannot continue and can no longer stand. Perhaps this one thousand year old(minus about nine hundred and ninety nine years and eleven months due to time travel) issue can be resolved at Gold Rush.

The Hart Foundation, the Next Generation(Johnny Devine, Petey Williams, Jack Evans, and Teddy Hart) vs Ron Waterman(c):

Prediction: Teddy Hart gets the title, the odds are just too stacked...

Casket Match:
The Chosen One vs Norman Smiley:

Prediction: Could go either way. I'm rooting for Norman.

The Dark Warrior vs Kevin Nash:

Prediction: Tough Call... um.. Dark Warrior.

Winner Receives an NAWA World Tag Team Title Shot in the future:
Matt Bentley and Chris Sabin(w/Vince Russo) vs Elix Skipper and Kaz Hayashi:

Prediction: Sabin & Bentley - Rocking tag team that needs to go to the top.

Scaffold Match:
The French Revolution(Pierre Marquette and Lord Napoleon) vs the Backyard Dudes(F.R.E.D and Twizted Youth)

Prediction: The French guys...

Prediction: Obviously Johnny Excalibur, otherwise it was a hell of a lot of character development to just bring in a couple of bumbling guards.

OK, I'm re-adjusting my pick due to the ordering of the brackets. Here goes...

Gold Rush tournament

Raven defeats CM Punk, whilst Stylish gets past A.J. Styles, with Raven winning the resulting semi-final.

In the second half of the brackets, Mamaluke defeats Lynn, gaining revenge for the result of the last show, while Daniels defeats Killings, followed up by his beating Mamaluke.

And that's rounded off by Raven defeating Christopher Daniels to become the Gold Rush champ - I'd originally gone with Daniels, but I fancy a face vs heel title match at NotR and it ties in with the next match.

NAWA World Title Gauntlet Match:
The Hart Foundation, the Next Generation(Johnny Devine, Petey Williams, Jack Evans, and Teddy Hart) vs Ron Waterman(c):

The odds are a bit much for Waterman. He makes it through the first three and fails at the death, giving Hart the title. Plus Ron's blind.

Casket Match:
The Chosen One vs Norman Smiley:

Jarrett snatches this one. Sorry... The Chosen One. ;) Either way, it fits that he'd win this sort of match.

The Dark Warrior vs Kevin Nash:

Nash here.

Winner Receives an NAWA World Tag Team Title Shot in the future:
Matt Bentley and Chris Sabin(w/Vince Russo) vs Elix Skipper and Kaz Hayashi:

Skipper and Hayashi only just had a shot, so Bentley and Sabin get their turn.

Scaffold Match:
The French Revolution(Pierre Marquette and Lord Napoleon) vs the Backyard Dudes(F.R.E.D and Twizted Youth)

Backyard Dudes when one of the French guys slips and falls off about two minutes in.

Excalibur - as Unright said, he's the one who's gotten all the character development. And it gives me a great sense of national pride to see two English wrestlers going at it.

Prediction: Lynn over Killings

Gold Rush Final:
The Winner of the Two Semifinals Matches will wrestle for the right to challenge the NAWA World Champion at Night of the Rogues:
Prediction: Raven over Lynn ... while I'd rather see the Raven/Waterman fight dragged out, I just can't help the tourney falling this way... speaking of which...

NAWA World Title Gauntlet Match:
The Hart Foundation, the Next Generation(Johnny Devine, Petey Williams, Jack Evans, and Teddy Hart) vs Ron Waterman(c):
Prediction: Waterman retains ... I'm fighting the tide on this one, but I can't see Ron dropping the strap just yet. I love Hart's character and the set-up for the feud, but Hart's got some time to kill and he'll be World champ soon enough, but Waterman wins.

Casket Match:
The Chosen One vs Norman Smiley:
Prediction: The Chosen One... and dark days ahead for Smiley.

The Dark Warrior vs Kevin Nash:
Prediction: The Dark Warrior ... I just feel like Nash has been getting too much in the feud, and Warrior's got to get his back here.

Prediction: Johnny Ex gets the duke
