Dean Malenko vs Owen Hart

Pretty Perfect are desperate to get their point across and having already put
Test on the shelf, they wanted to do it a second time over with Owen Hart
facing a man he and Curt Hennig beat up a few weeks ago, Dean Malenko. Malenko
has looked a little dejected since then and Owen was never seriously troubled
despite a few good exchanges from Malenko. Of course, it didn't stop him
cheating rampantly, leaving Malenko slumped in the ropes and getting the ref to
admonish him for choking him on the ropes while Hennig blasted him from the
outside, possibly with some brass knucks. Owen locked on the Sharpshooter and
Malenko wasn't putting up any fight, leaving the ref no alternative but to call
it off and award the match to Owen. ****

Things didn't stop there though as the two of them, like vultures, began
kicking away at the fallen Malenko who didn't put up any resistance, half
unconscious by now, to the point where it was truly sickening. No word on what
damage was done, but Owen felt the point was made, grabbing a mic and demanding
that the DWF give Pretty Perfect another shot at the tag team titles.

They won't get it at Clash of the Champions, they're illegible for the voting
for the tag title match, but perhaps they won't mind waiting until after then
after Psychoanalysis had a little meeting with Matt Hardy which the cameras
captured. Matt was wanting to praise them for their run as champions, but
warned the voting was very close for Clash and whoever came out to face them
would be serious opposition.

Pillman then told Matt that he and Sean had discussed things and they had
decided they wanted the match to be no holds barred. O'Haire looked surprised
at this, evidently this conversation he'd supposedly had was news to him.
Pillman continued though, saying "they" wanted it to be no holds barred so
everything they did to their opponents would be nice and legal, at which point
he cocked his fingers like a gun and fired at Matt. Hardy informed him that he
wouldn't be allowed to actually shoot anyone but as they had both requested it,
he would indeed make the match a no DQ match, pleasing Pillman no end. As for
poor Sean O'Haire, he was left wondering if he was ever going to be included
in this meeting.

La Resistance (c) vs Los Villanos (Intercontinental tag team championship)

La Resistances run with the Intercontinental tag team titles could be nearing
a close, so what better way to go about things than a little warm-up match.
Of course, we had to put up with their pre-match shennanigans first, in which
they praised America for doing such a great job with cutting crime, and claimed
it would be even better if immigration laws weren't so lax that Mexicans were
able to keep sneaking into the country to steal their hub caps.

Appropriately their opponents were Los Villanos. Now it was supposed to be a
non title match but ever confident, La Resistance offered them a title shot
anyway, because they love all countries, especially Mexico. Head-shaking stuff,
and unsurprisingly, the reigning champs won easily, though Dupree still felt it
necessary to use his American flag to help garner the win. And just to run it
in further, Grenier recommended we all vote Los Villanos because they put up
such a good effort. * 3/4

Tajiri vs Steve Williams

Tajiri and Steve Williams had the chance to meet up today as the feud between
the Miracle Violence Connection and the team of Hayabusa & Tajiri continues.
However their in-ring efforts were overshadowed by Hunter Hearst-Helmsley
making his way down to do colour commentary and hype his up coming "surprise"
at Clash of the Champions in which he plans to reveal his new tag team partner.
Never mind the announcers kept saying it'll be Rockabilly to Helmsleys
chagrin who insisted it might not be and it could be anyone, and never mind the
fact Helmsley accidentally SAID Rockabilly at one point, he still remains
adamant that it's going to be a big surprise.

While all this went on, Tajiri and Williams were putting on a fine match in the
ring, while both Hayabusa and Terry Gordy watched on. Gordy tried to intefere
at one point, sending Hayabusa round to take him off. And as this happened,
Tajiri hit the Green Mist and rolled up the blinded Williams for the three.
A big win for him, Helmsley meanwhile simply turned his nose up at it all and
walked away. There's something very unsophisticated about a rich snob like
Helmsley getting an idiot like Rockabilly to side with him. They deserve each
other. *** 1/4

Dynamite Kid vs Kurt Angle

With one show to go before Clash of the Champions, four men had the chance to
impress everyone going into the event and the chance of a world heavyweight
title match with Don Muraco.

Dynamite Kid and Kurt Angle were the first to go at it of the world title
contenders, and go at it they did - after all, these two had a bitter rivalry
earlier in the year leading to a Wrestlefest match that Dynamite was victorious
in. Angle might want that title shot but wasn't happy that he'd have to face
Dynamite again to prove his point, and made it clear before the match that he
despised the fact he had to face a "buck-toothed, ignorant limey"

Despite this, the two engaged in a superb display which saw several near falls
traded, much like Wrestlefest. Angle was the one who took the first sense of
a major advantage when he had Dynamite staggered, and went for the Angle Slam.
Dynamite reversed and lifted Angle into the very same move. Angle countered as
well, landing behind Dynamite and clamping a waistlock on. Dynamite slithered
out and slipped behind, hitting his own waistlock. Angle elbowed his way out
and went for a clothesline, which Dynamite ducked and he caught Angle in a
patented snap suplex, followed by a falling headbutt. Dynamite was hobbling a
little following an earlier ankle lock attempt but had put Angle down long
enough for him to make his way to the top and hit the Swandive for the victory. **** 1/4

Scott Putski vs Paul Roma (inferno match)

As if we hadn't had to put up with him enough times, Paul Roma had somehow
bribed DWF officials into letting him challenge Scott Putski AGAIN! And this
time it would be an inferno match as Roma tries to use every type of evil match
he can think of to try and finally beat Putski. One had hoped this would have
been over now that it's been a few months (including Putski) but here we went
again. With a match this dangerous, officials barred Pete Gas and Rodney from
ringside and a few minutes in after they'd fallen to the outside, just barely
avoiding the flames, Roma took Putski down with a clothesline, then stood up
and all the grease in his hair caught alight. Roma sprinted back to the locker
room to try and get it put out, and that was that. Someone might want to tell
him that he lost as well. 1/2*

John Cena & The Young Lions vs Larry Zbyszko, Jonathan Coachman & Super Calo

John Cena and Larry Zbyszko had another chance to go at it today in the
confines of sorts of a six man tag. Before the match, Cena and his partners
The Young Lions were interviewed backstage and Cena revealed he had hired the
Lions to solve some mysteries for him - whose kinky Dutch porn videos were
found lying around the dressing room last week (apparently they were Zbyszkos),
whose was the car Cena found parked outside with dozens of Barbara Streisand
CD's on the backseat (Zbyszko again, Cena also noted he'd put a big scratch in
the side... no reason) and who accidentally picked up a hooker last night and
didn't find out it was a man until they got back to the hotel (Coach on this
occasion). Zbyszko watched on furiously, denying everything and ordered Coach
to find a third man to make up the number for the aforementioned six man tag.

The only man Coach could find stupid enough to team with them was Super Calo,
which spoke volumes really. Calo did as well as could be expected, but the real
threat on their team was of course Zbyszko, who wanted Cena in the worst way.
Cena really played the games with him, refusing to tag in there whilst Larry
was in, simply to incense him further. Finally as the Lions continued to
embarass him, he decided he'd had enough and called Coach off and the two
headed back. Poor old Calo stood no chance and Cena finally tagged in long
enough to hit the Eighth Deadly Sin and secure an easy victory. No question
though, these mind games Cena keeps playing continue to work. ***

Low Ki vs Juventud Guerrera

Juventud Guerrera has been proclaiming himself the uncrowned cruiserweight
champion, and after his recent victory over number one contender Kid Kash (not
'Flid Trash' as he called him), his stock has certainly risen to the extent
where he's surely in line for a title shot. That said, Low Ki is a multiple
time champ who is also deserving of another crack at Hector Guerrero. The two
squared off today in an effort to move themselves up the ladder. Juventuds
pre-match spiel about how Low Ki is jealous of him and is indeed, as his name
suggests, low key because he sucks was chock full of bitterness. Still, he
started off strong and the two got into a good rhythm, keeping it quick and
edgy.

Kid Kash meanwhile feels a little robbed after last week and being good friends
with Low Ki, he soon made his way down for a closer look, with intentions to
make life hard for Juventud. Indeed he did just that, providing a bad
distraction for Guerrera just when he had things going his way. After some
brief banter in which Juventud yelled at Kash about how he beat him last week,
Kash proceeded to throw his hat over Juvis head. Juventud turned around,
instinctively watching it and turned into the waiting arms of Low Ki. One Ki
Krusher later and we had a winner, and another clear contender for the
cruiserweight title once Kid Kash has had his shot. ****

The Syndicate vs Eddie, Chavo & Hector Guerrero (handicap match)

Matt Hardy hasn't forgotten last weeks small clash with The Syndicate and
informed them that tonights match for them would see them face THREE of Los
Guerreros - Eddie, Chavo and Mando. An unfair advantage for sure and if it
wasn't for Hector choosing to rest in preperation for his cruiserweight title
defense at Clash of the Champions, we'd have probably seen even greater odds.

Still, Storm and Shamrock weren't about to take that lying down and treated it
like any other tag match and at first you might not have been able to tell of
the one man advantage, but sure enough, Los Guerreros put together a string of
quick tags, alternating each time and all was going well as they worked over
the smaller Syndicate man, Lance Storm. Finally Storm got his senses together
and backdropped Chavo Classic. Chavo landed on his feet but right next to Ken
Shamrock who blasted him from the apron, and Lance was able to fall back into
the tag.

Shamrock was a house on fire and was taking down Guerreros left, right and
centre, but one man trying to take on three was an impossible task really.
Still, he backdropped Eddie out with aplomb only for Mando to switch in
illegally and pass himself off as the legal man, allowing Mando to take control.

Shamrock thought one step ahead and made a blind tag to Storm. Mando took down
Shamrock with a clothesline and thought he had him as he went for the cover
but Storm quickly dragged him off and locked on the Maple Leaf, whilst
Shamrock kept Chavo at bay, and it was enough to secure a hard fought victory.
Matt Hardy must be seething right now. ****

Chris Jericho vs Billy Kidman

If Dynamites earlier victory meant a lot to his hopes of facing Don Muraco this
Friday, then a lot also rested on the result of the Billy Kidman vs Chris
Jericho match as two former champions squared off. Jericho started off
strongest which brough an early appearance from Steve Corino who sauntered
down, TV title in tow. Corino didn't outright interfere but provided a useful
distraction, notanly when the combatants were on the floor and Jericho squared
up to Corino who was starting to edge towards him, allowing Kidman to make the
jump.

From there, it was Kidman who largely dominated proceedings, but if he thought
he could rule out Chris Jericho, he was hugely mistaken as the former champ
worked his way back into the match before taking Corino out with a plancha of
sorts. At this point, Kurt Angle ran out - perhaps to take a closer look at the
opposition in the voting for Clash of the Champions, perhaps just to make his
point. Angle instantly became a distraction to Jericho, and moments later when
Jericho had Kidman down again, he slid outside and blasted Angle.

Dynamite Kid then made his way down and kept Angle at bay, but with Steve
Corino still making a nuisance of himself, it seemed like everyone had to be
alert. Perhaps Jericho should have been more so, when Corino grabbed him by
the ankle, prompting Dynamite to run over and clothesline him out of his boots.
Jericho maintained his advantage meanwhile, ducking Kidmans attempted
clothesline and backdropping Kidman down. Jericho then headed up top, but with
the ref trying to cool down Dynamite Kid, Kurt Angle came over to shove Jericho
off the top, allowing Kidman to roll him up for a cheap win.

Things weren't over though, as both Angle and Dynamite lept into the ring and
it really kicked off with everyone except Corino, hurt on the outside, slugging
it out. All the while, the fifth and final world title contender, Raven, stood
silently in front of the curtain observing it all. The only question left now
is who'll be voted in to face Don Muraco for the title this Friday? ****

I'll try to feedback this tonight in full, but the Clash is shaping up to be a good one.  You never cease to do good work.  Full update when I'm home tonight.
Snabbit888Posted on 12/06/05 at 03:00:08

Wow... Pretty Perfect sure are pissed.  Poor Dean Malenko.

Pillman really should let O'Haire in on these meetings.

La Resistance?  What a couple of good guys!  Giving Los Villanos a title shot out of the goodness of their hearts.  I'd vote for Los Villanos if I hadn't already.

I really hope you're not swerving us and making HHH's mystery partner be someone else besides Rockabilly, and that's fantastic.  Good win for Tajiri.

Great match between Dynamite Kid and Angle.  Nice preview for the Clash.

I will not even dignify the Inferno Match with a response.

I'm really liking Cena as the master of mind games.  It's fun to watch ol' Larry Z get jerked around.

With Low-Ki's win over Juvi, there sure are a lot of clear contenders for the Cruiserweight Title.

I like the Syndicate, so a good win over Los Guerreros.  That crazy family.

Good main event, nice final push for the Clash... it could really be anybody to wrestle Muraco.  Muraco's going to retain regardless, but still.

Good show, mate.
