TNA Impact!: February Show 2

Fireworks explode as we are here for another weekly installment of TNA Impact Zone and we're here with Mike Tenay and Don West who greet us to the show. They hype the four first round matches in the World Heavyweight Title tournament matches tonight:

Samoa Joe vs. Monty Brown
Rhino vs. Abyss
AJ Styles vs. ???
Christian Cage vs. Jeff Jarrett

Tenay & West speculate on who the mystery opponent could be. We then go to fan interviews where fans guess who it will be. We hear every response from Raven to Sting to Goldberg! We'll find out soon enough! Also, tonight we have two X Division qualifying matches: Christopher Daniels vs. David Young and Sonny Siaki vs. Alex Shelley! But right now we take you to the ring for Kip James vs. Simon Diamond!

Simon Diamond pinned Kip James with the Simonizer in 0:05:58.
Rating: ** ½

Just as Kip James was running to the ropes to hit his Fameasser, the ropes were pulled down by James Storm of AMW and James fell to the outside! As AMW were attacking James, Diamond distracted the ref. They then threw James back to the inside and this allowed Diamond to hit the Simonizer which led to the victory. Afterwards, AMW taunted the fallen Kip James. It's now time for our first NWA World Title Tournament match-up! The Alpha Male will face the Samoan Submission Machine coming up next!

NWA World Heavyweight Title Tournament 1st Round Match
Samoa Joe defeated Monty Brown when Monty Brown passed out in the Kokina Clutch in 0:09:10.
Rating: *** 1/4

For the first time in history, Monty Brown passed out in a submission hold giving Samoa Joe the victory! Samoa Joe now advances to the 2nd round of the tournament where he will face either AJ Styles or his mystery opponent!

X Division Qualifier
Christopher Daniels pinned David Young with the Last Rites in 0:09:45.
Rating: **** 1/4

The Fallen Angel joins Petey Williams as the 2nd man in the 6-man Ladder Match for the X Division Title at Fist of Vengeance! It's now time for our second World Title tournament match: Rhino vs. Abyss! Highlights are shown of Abyss' battle royal win last week before the match begins.

NWA World Heavyweight Title Tournament 1st Round Match
Rhino pinned Abyss with the Gore in 0:13:15.
Rating: **

Abyss' efforts in the battle royal last week were in vain as he has now been eliminated from the tournament by the Man Beast, Rhino! Rhino will face the winner of the Jeff Jarrett/Christian Cage match which will take place later tonight in our main event! Now our second X Division qualifier of the night: Sonny Siaki vs. Alex Shelley!

X Division Qualifier
Alex Shelley pinned Sonny Siaki with the Shell Shock in 0:09:42.
Rating: *** ½

Alex Shelley will join Petey Williams and Christopher Daniels in the Ladder Match at Fist of Vengeance. Three more spots remain... who will take those spots?

Kevin Nash pinned Petey Williams with the Jackknife Power Bomb in 0:13:13.
Rating: ***

After last week's match where Williams advanced to the X Division Title match, he is defeated here by the much-larger Kevin Nash. He seemed to have landed on his neck a little hard when he took that Jackknife Power Bomb but we hear that he'll be okay.

The Oklahoma Fight Song hits as our Director of Authority, Jim Ross, makes his way out to the Impact Zone! He gets on the mic and tells everyone that it's time for AJ Styles' opponent to be unveiled. He first calls AJ Styles out to the ring. Styles obliges and makes his way out and into the ring. Jim Ross then says that when the news in the locker room up north got around that he was going to be leaving for TNA, one wrestler approached him and told him he was interested in leaving also. Jim Ross negotiated the man's contract and got him out of "that company" and into TNA. "So without further adieux, let me introduce to you, TNA's newest acquisition... EDGE!" AJ Styles looks shocked as Edge's new music (his old music was trademarked but his name wasn't?) "Your Time Has Come" by Audioslave hits and he sprints to the ring to begin his match with AJ Styles!

NWA World Heavyweight Title Tournament 1st Round Match
Edge pinned AJ Styles with the Spear in 0:17:44.
Rating: **** ¾

Three words: What... a... match! Definitely the best match of the year so far! In Edge's debut, he makes a great impression on TNA fans eventually pinning and advancing over the fan favorite, AJ Styles. Unfortunately, his road might end next week as he'll be facing the "Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe! Now, we have our final NWA World Title Tournament match: Jeff Jarrett vs. Christian Cage!

NWA World Heavyweight Title Tournament 1st Round Match
Jeff Jarrett pinned Christian Cage with the Stroke in 0:13:10.
Rating: *** ¾

Jarrett advances over Christian Cage in Cage's first match in TNA. However, it only came, of course, after a guitar shot. Christian Cage will certainly seek revenge for this one. But for now, Jarrett advances to the next round and Christian Cage doesn't. The only problem: now Jeff Jarrett must face the "Man Beast" Rhino!

That's all we have for this week but next week we'll see our two semifinal match-ups in the World Title tournament as well as two more X Division Qualifying matches. Good night everyone!

Other News: AJ Styles and Chris Sabin have suddenly quit TNA giving no apparent reason. Word has it that Styles and Sabin were both slated to be in the X Division match-up at Fist of Vengeance however those plans have now, obviously, been changed. We wish these two the best and these are two more great losses to the TNA roster in what seems to be becoming a trend after losing four of TNA's stars within the past two months.

A very solid start to this circuit.  JR being the new TNA head is very cool.  also the acquisition of Edge is big as well.

My only big suggestion to you is to add dates to your shows.  "February Show 2" type titles make it difficult to go back and remember or find information.  Also, in your writeups you called the PPV "Ground Zero" but then your heading for the post was "January PPV."  I suggest just calling the show what it is.  But I'm reading never the less. :)

Thank you. The acquisition of Edge was completely random and was the result of a Dark Match in which Sonjay Dutt faced a 'mystery wrestler' who turned out to be Edge. About the dates, it's easier for me to simply label them February Show 1, Show 2, etc. As then I can stick to 4 shows a month and 1 PPV at the end of the month. :) Thank you for the suggestion anyway and thank you for reading.

Also, the January PPV was titled Ground Zero in the topic name, it just had the 'January PPV' tag at the end. ;)

Once again, thanks for the suggestions, the tags are just my own personal preference. :) I have the next two shows written and the PPV has been run already, however I'm on my way out to a friend's house. They will be posted later on tonight.

Sounds good.  And you're right, I did miss the "Ground Zero" part in the heading.  My mistake.  The only reason I commented on the dates is because you're taking over a real promotion, and thus the title histories that go along with it.  The title lineage will just be strange if it's now in the "Week 1, Week 2" format.  That's just me being anal though. :)

I doubt that I'll even be making any references to past title histories anyway other than "blah blah is a two-time X Division Champion" etc. So problem solved.  ;)
