Friday Nights War
SBO | Posted on 11/23/05 at 20:14:09 Randy Savage's younger brother, Angelo Poffo's son, Lanny Poffo had been knocking around the business since 1973, usually jobbing to no-talented fools, while watching his brother win world title after world title. To this day Lanny continues to regularly lose on indie shows, whilst writing anti-smoking limericks (available in the book From The Heart (And Lungs!)). After hitting writers block, Lanny decided to increase his ever-expanding horizons once more and with 32 years experience in the business, Lanny decided to try his hand at wrestling promotion. Nu Generation Wrestling started in November 2005. Always moving with the times Lanny decided to promote a wrestling promotion that was moving with the times and not stuck in the past like many ex wrestlers promotions. Ole Anderson on the other hand was stuck in the past. He believed wrestling had taken a turn for the worse some time in the late 1990's. Titles are the only thing important in any promotion in the world and it should be every wrestlers goal to aim for the title. Sensible saving has led Ole with a pocketful of money and in November 2005 Ole decided to invest his money in a new wrestling promotion Pro Wrestling Championship. Being the home of every retired wrestler, Georgia seemed the ideal place to promote Nu Generation Wrestling & Pro Wrestling Championship. That was until Lanny Poffo and Ole Anderson found out about the other's wrestling circuit. Many heated debates later it seemed neither man would back down and follow the other's idea of how wrestling should be promoted and a very severe falling out led to either man refusing to let any talent contracted to them from working for the other. Additionally wrestling being the pig headed business it is, instead of making it easier upon themselves Lanny and Ole decided to go head to head against each other promoting a weekly show on Friday night each. It is time for the indie equivalent of the Monday Night War! |
americamamushi | Posted on 11/23/05 at 20:25:23 interesting set up. Are you running both yourself or are you tag teaming (so to speak) with another board member? |
