TNA - Prime Time Special 11.10.05

rey619Posted on 11/10/05 at 21:19:11

Editors note: I know the dates doesn't correspond with real-life TNA, but hey.. that's what happens when TNA all of a sudden decides to have a prime time special.

The TNA intro airs, and Tenay and Douglas plugs TNA and tonight's matches, emphasizing that this is the alternative for the smart wrestling fan.

**Throughout the special, 12 short 1-minute promos airs, highlighting the following: the X Division, AJ Styles, Team Canada, AMW, Christopher Daniels, Monty Brown, Raven, Rhino, Abyss, Jeff Jarrett, 3 Live Kru and Samoa Joe**

X-Division Showcase Match - Alex Shelley, Sabu & Chris Sabin vs Matt Bentley, Christopher Daniels and Petey Williams

The 2-hour special opened with a 6-man X-Division tag match, pitting some of
the hottest commodities in TNA against each other. Unfortunately, Matt Bentley
charged Chris Sabin at the very beginning of the match, taking both men to
the outside. The bitter arch-enemies brawled to the back, taking them out
of the equation.

Daniels is in control of Shelley in the ring, sending him down with the STO
and locking on the Koji clutch. Sabu makes the save in a spectacular way, as
he flips off the ropes with a legdrop. Williams tries to even up the numbers,
but Shelley rocks him with a Superkick. Shelley goes for the Shell Shock on
Daniels, put the X-Division's top contender elbows him in the face and executes
the Last Rites. Sabu and Williams are busy with each other on the outside,
and the Fallen Angel performs the Last Rites to win this excellent six-man
tag match.

Petey Williams, Matt Bentley and Christopher Daniels defeated
Alex Shelley, Sabu and Chris Sabin when C. Daniels pinned A. Shelley with the
Last Rites in 0:09:24.

Backstage, Ron Killings and Konnan are berating BG for protecting Kip James in his feud with Monty Brown, even going into the ring for him. BG says that helping Kip is NOT the same as betraying the Kru, and tells them he expects backup if needed.

The Spike TV! Representative walks into Jeff Hardy's locker room and tells him that since this is a do or die show for TNA, he can't just dress any way he likes, and put on make-up like som other teenage girl. He tells Jeff to take away the make up and not to color his hair, or else lose this opportunity to win the X-Title. Jeff tries to protest, but Spike says he's serious, and shows Hardy the signed contract, and how easily he can just tear it apart.

Bound For Glory rematch - Rhino vs Samoa Joe

Rhino is desperate for some vengeance here tonight, as Joe made him tap out
to the modified STF, both at Bound for Glory (using a broomstick) and at
the last Impact (using the guardrail.. Rhino wasn't technically the legal man,
but he sure as hell tapped out).

Joe attacks Rhino before the bell, taking him down with two big overhead
belly-to-belly suplexes, before Rhino whips out a powerslam to bring the big
Samoan down. Sonny Siaki joined the announce table at this point, and tried
to persuade Shane Douglas to put money on the Samoan Scourge as the next
tag champions. The Franchise said that the only way they're going to win is
if AMW comes down with the flu.

This match saw a lot of power moves performed fluidly and without a lot of
rest holds. Joe power bombed Rhino in the corner and ran in with the bootscrape.
Rhino stopped the next scrape and countered with a DDT. The man-beast then
utilized the ropes to squeeze the life out of Joe, and got a two count from
a spinebuster. Joe battles back, but misses a rana and gets countered with
a powerbomb. Rhino then goes for the Gore, but Sonny Siaki shouts out the
warning to Joe who ducks, causing Rhino to crash into the turnbuckle.
Shane Douglas calls Siaki a "cheater, cheater, compulsive eater", as Joe locks
on a Boston crab. Rhino gets out of the hold, and the two weary big men start
trading punches. Joe gets Rhino down in the Kokina Clutch, but Rhino is too
close to the ropes. Rhino now tries to get Joe on the ropes for the Rhinodriver,
but Samoa Joe fights back, and takes down Rhino with the Musclebuster! DANGEROOOOOUS!

1-2-3.. and Joe is still un-pinned in TNA. Amazing match, these two guys really
know how to put on classics.

Samoa Joe pinned Rhino after a Muscle Buster in 0:13:05.

Cassidy Riley stands in front of the camera in a darkened room, not to dissimilar to where Raven usually does his promos.

"Raven.. I didn't know you were such a coward. I robbed you of the most precious thing in your life, and you don't have the guts to face me at Genesis. I realize the embarrassment you must feel when I pin you on Sunday, but what about the embarrassment that is cowardice? What will you former colleagues of ECW say when they hear that you won't step into the squared circle with a rookie? What will Tommy Dreamer, Justin Credible, Taz.. or even Shane Douglas say at the next Hardcore Homecoming. Raven.. the pussy who wouldn't face his protegé, the pussy who got screwed out of the NWA World Heavyweight Championship and did nothing. You don't have to face me in the ring at Genesis, Raven.. I will find you. And when I do, you will fight me.

Monty Brown vs. B.G. James

Monty Brown broke away from Kip James at Bound for Glory, and now has Kip's
"brother" BG James on his back. BG came out without the 3 Live Kru music (without
music at all in fact).. is this an omen? He was obviously displeased that
the Kru wasn't there to back him up. Kip James wasn't there either..

Even though Monty tried to spring BG before the bell, the veteran got the upper
hand in the opening minutes, attacking him with jabs and downing him with a
DDT. The attack continues as BG brings down the Alpha Male from the top turnbuckle
with a ring-shaking superplex. Monty has to resort to foul methods to gain
the momentum, choking BG until the ref forcibly breaks the hold. Monty keeps
punishing BG, sending him down with a fallway slam that sets up the Pounce!
Monty doesn't make the cover, as Konnan and Killings make their way down.
Brown gets into a staredown with the rest of the Kru, as BG recovers and
hits Monty with a series of forearm smashes and a swinging neckbreaker to
make the crowd go crazy. At this point, Kip James comes down as well, a bloody
cut on his forehead. Kip immediately confronts Killings and Konnan, and it
seems that something has gone down that we weren't aware of. BG has control
of the match, but this distracts him. BG tries to solve this dispute from the
turnbuckle, but Monty takes advantage of this, rolling BG up for the win.
Another solid match here at the Prime Time Special!

Monty rolls out of the ring and goes for Kip, but the Truth and Konnan get
in his way. For a moment. Then they grab a hold of Kip and whips him against
Monty who takes him down with a hard spinebuster on the outside. BG rolls out,
and cannot believe what his "brothers" just did. He goes to revive Kip as
Konnan and Killings leave the ring area, just behind a gloating Monty Brown.

Monty Brown pinned B.G. James after a roll up in 0:11:22.

Matt Bentley comes out of the showers wearing a towel, when suddenly we hear someone calling out for him. Matt whirls around, dropping his towel in the process, before quickly picking it up again. It's Traci Brooks.

"Traci.. don't ever do that, you're freakin' me out here."

"I'm sorry Matt.. but why are you so skittish?"

"I'm not skittish.. just don't sneak up on me like that ever again, you hear me?!" Matt grabs Traci's hand and squeezes it hard.

"Matt, you're hurting me. What is the problem Matt?"

"Nothing." Bentley turns away and starts to get dressed. "I assume you're here as an interviewer?" He turns and awaits the question.

"Well.. yeah.. I was going to ask you on your thoughts about your upcoming match with Chris Sabin at Genesis?"

"I don't have anything to say to you about that. I'll only speak to Shane Douglas. No get out of here, and close the door behind you."

Traci gets a disappointed look on her face as Bentley turns away from her again.

Eric Young vs Chris Irvine

It's time for Chris Irvine's debut, as he faces Eric Young of Team Canada.

The crowd was on its feet for Irvine, and even Young had great respect for
his fellow Canadian. Irvine starts the match with a kick to the midsection,
and follows up with a hiptoss and an elbowdrop. Irvine continued to dish out
the goods, a springboard dropkick and the Lionsault are all moves we know and
love from him. Young stands no chance in this match, which ends when Irvine
locks on the Fozzy Crab (Walls of Jericho). Young quickly taps out

Irvine is celebrating his debut win, when Team Canada's music plays, and Scott D'Amore, Petey Williams and A1 come down to the ring. They climb into the circle and waves the Canadian flag as they walk around Irvine.
Scott D'Amore picks up a microphone and approaches Irvine. "Chris Irvine.. what a lovely, lovely match. You truly are a proud representative for us Canadians, the one and only Undisputed champion in WWE. Not only that, you are a brilliant musician as well." D'Amore is surely sucking up to Irvine here. Irvine picks up the microphone, and in proper the Rock-fashion asks.

"Who the hell are you??"

D'Amore bounces across the ring, shocked of being asked that question. The crowd loves it, and taunts the stupid Canadians. D'Amore finally calms down.

"My name is Coach D'Amore of Team Canada. To cut a long story short, there is a lot of untapped potential in these three men," he points to Young, A1 and Williams. "But they need a veteran captain to lead them forward. That's where you come into the picture. Would you be willing to lead a team of your fellow countrymen to the top here in TNA?"

Irvine paces around the ring as the crowd chants "Don't you do it... don't you do it."

"Would I be honored to lead a team of Canadians to the top here in TNA? Hell, course I would." D'Amore's mood lightens up as the crowd gets a disappointed look on their faces. "Would I be honored to lead a team of ass-wiping, dirt-smelling, ho-loving, flag-swinging, juvenile posse of piss-poor skills and no stinking talent such as you and your trio of hobos? Hell, no!"

The crowd gets going again as D'Amore almost fades after this verbal abuse from Irvine. A1 takes matters into his own hands, whacking Irvine from behind with the hockey stick. Soon, the rest of Team Canada follow suit. Bobby Roode runs in and briefly turns the tide for Irvine and himself, before Scott D'Amore low-blows him from behind. Team Canada leaves Roode and Irvine laying in the ring, while telling Irvine that this was the biggest mistake of his life.

Non-title Match - the Naturals (Chase Stevens & Andy Douglas) vs America's Most Wanted (James Storm & Chris Harris) w/Jimmy Hart

the Naturals had their chance to get their hands on the traitorous Jimmy Hart
in this match, and they wasted no time trying to get past the champions here
tonight.

the Naturals jump AMW as they approach the ring, and the two rival teams
brawl on the outside. the Naturals get the upper hand and goes after Jimmy
Hart, allowing Storm and Harris to sneak attack them and bring them into the
ring. AMW tried to end this quickly, and won several near falls in the first
five, but the Naturals would not be denied their sweet vengeance. Their will
to win was at its peak when Douglas forcefully kicked out of the Catatonic,
sending Chris Harris into a panicky state.

The finish came when Jimmy Hart tried to slip Storm a handful of dust. Douglas
saw this and kicked it into Storm's eyes, blinding him. Harris was forced to
enter the ring to save his partner, but was met with a double clotheslined
followed by a double elbowdrop. the Naturals then brought him down with the
Natural Disaster. They then set their eyes on Jimmy Hart, but he had fled the
scene already, leaving his team behind. the Naturals stomps away on AMW for a
short while for good measure, taking down Storm with the Natural Disaster
as well.

The Naturals (Andy Douglas and Chase Stevens) defeated
America's Most Wanted (Chris Harris and James Storm) when C. Stevens pinned
C. Harris after the Natural Disaster in 0:10:09.

Backstage, Raven is perched up into the rafters, ready to cut a promo. "Riley.. Riley..Riley.. Don't you get it? Fighting you would be the same as giving a terrorist what he wanted. If I fight you, I let you win. I can pound you into oblivion, I can smear your own blood on the canvas. I can pin you a zillion times, make you submit to the point where your lungs are unable to make a single sound. It still wouldn't change the fact that you got what you wanted, you got into my head and got the better out of me. Cassidy Riley, I waited my entire career to fight Sabu.. you'll have to wait an eternity to fight me. Quote the Raven, Nevermore!"

X-Division Title Match - AJ Styles(c) vs Jeff Hardy

Main event time, as the Charismatic Enigma Jeff Hardy challenged the Phenomenal
AJ Styles for the X-Division in a friendly contest. The two faces shook hands
before the match. As per Spike TV! Representative's orders, Hart was not
decorated at all, and appeared like a "regular" A4 wrestler.

This was apparent from his wrestling as well, which wasn't at his best. AJ
sensed this, and took affair. After a couple of stale minutes, he rolled out
of the ring and beckoned to Hardy. They approached a young blonde in the
front row, and asked her for something. She retrieved her make-up purse,
and Styles started putting some colors on Hardy's face. Hilarious! Spike
TV! Representative came down to put a stop to this, but ended up with lipstick
and eyeshadow as Styles and Hardy put him through a full makeover.

The match now proceeded, and both Hardy and Styles were at their best, awing
the crowd with back and forth high-flying. Hardy nailed Styles with an Asai
moonsault to the outside, while Styles hit a tope con hilo on Jeff.
Jeff went for the Swanton, but AJ brought him down with a superplex, followed
by a Spiral Tap. Styles retains with the Styles Clash in an awesome match.

AJ Styles pinned Jeff Hardy with the Styles Clash in 0:15:31.
Rating: ****
(AJ Styles retained the TNA X-Division Title.)

The show nears its end, but while Tenay and Douglas are plugging the various matches for Genesis, NWA Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett walks down to the ring, AMW right behind him.

"I can't believe this," Jarrett says. "TNA airs a special 2-hour prime time show, and the King of the Mountain, NWA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett isn't scheduled to appear. It's a disgrace, I tell you. I built this company up from the start. I am the single reason TNA is still alive and kicking, more healthy than ever. I have been the only person sticking up for the wrestlers in the back. Whenever a "huge" star has been on his way to TNA, in the process causing many wrestlers to lose their job. I chased Hulk Hogan away.. I chased Sting away.. Kevin Nash.. Randy Savage.. the list goes on and on..." Some rock music plays, and a bruised Chris Irvine walks down to the ring.

"JJ.. you're just like a big, schoolyard bully who has bullied around all the other kids for a long time now. Sure, AJ Styles, Ron Killings, Raven.. they've all be on the top, if only for a brief moment. Now, there's this new kid in school, someone just transferred from a "finer" school up north. And all of a sudden you're afraid of him. Not because he's an outsider. Not because you're afraid that he'll be more popular than you..." said in an absolute ironic way.. "No..no.. you're afraid because finally, you see someone capable of dethroning you on a permanent basis. I mean.. I defeated the Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin in one night. I can't see a washed-up country singer and a bunch of redneck cowboys being any harder." At these harsh insults, Jarrett swings his guitar, but misses. Irvine takes down Jarrett and stars pounding him, but Harris and Storm drags him away. Irvine decks them with hard rights, but Jarrett takes him down from behind with the guitar. AMW is about to execute the Death Sentence on Irvine, when the Naturals come running in, sending AMW and Jarrett on their way. What a show!

Card rating: *** 1/2

This is the card for Genesis. Changes may take place as a result of the pre-show...

NWA World Heavyweight Title: Chris Irvine vs Jeff Jarrett (c)

TNA X-Division Title: AJ Styles (c) vs Christopher Daniels

NWA Tag-Team Titles: AMW (c) vs Samoan Scourge vs the Naturals (yes, Larry Zbyszko has added them to this match as a result of the win in their non-title match)

Jeff Hardy vs TBA (Spike TV! Representative chooses Jeff's opponent at the pre-show)

Petey Williams vs Bobby Roode

Monty Brown vs Kip James

Matt Bentley vs Chris Sabin

Abyss vs TBA (James Mitchell picks another victim for Abyss)

Predictions wanted! In the case of the Hardy match.. predict who is opponent will be.
Snabbit888Posted on 11/10/05 at 21:27:52

I'll give full feedback later, but I thought it was odd you had him here as Chris Irvine.  Chris Jericho owns the rights to the Jericho name, so weird you didn't bring him in as such.  Any particular reason?
91Posted on 11/10/05 at 21:35:13

Go on then, let's see how we get on...

NWA World Heavyweight Title: Chris Irvine vs Jeff Jarrett (c)

Common popularity says Irvine will win the title here, so I'm going to say Jarrett retains by hook or by crook (possibly getting DQ'ed in the process). Whilst Irvine is also the logical choice for champion, I'd say there's some mileage in building up towards his winning the title.

TNA X-Division Title: AJ Styles (c) vs Christopher Daniels

And vice-versa here - most would be tempted to say Styles, so I'll say Daniels continues his roll from this show and gets the duke, and the title.

NWA Tag-Team Titles: AMW (c) vs Samoan Scourge vs the Naturals (yes, Larry Zbyszko has added them to this match as a result of the win in their non-title match)

Cool little interlude with Siaki and Douglas there, but I'm agreeing with Douglas on this one - the Naturals already got a win (not that wrestling has to be about taking it in turns to win, but y'know...) and I'm not convinced the Scourge will take this. But feel free to surprise me. Meanwhile, AMW retain.

Jeff Hardy vs TBA (Spike TV! Representative chooses Jeff's opponent at the pre-show)

Just call Jeff "Samsom" I guess. I know it seems too easy to go for it, but what the hey - Christian (or Chris Jin :p ) is signed up and he gets the win.

Petey Williams vs Bobby Roode

I have to say my knowledge of TNA isn't brilliant, coverage is piss poor in England, so whilst I know the names and faces, this one is a little over my head. Still, let's say Williams.

Monty Brown vs Kip James

Monty, methinks.

Matt Bentley vs Chris Sabin

Let's go Bentley here.

Abyss vs TBA (James Mitchell picks another victim for Abyss)

And whilst it might seem like my feedback has been dropping off over the last few matches there, I have NO idea who Abyss might be facing here. But we'll give the nod to the big man here.
americamamushiPosted on 11/10/05 at 22:02:32

Good opening.  I like Daniels getting the pinfall.  Poor Shelley.  I like him so much but it always seems like he's the one to take the fall in real life too. ;)

Ha ha.  I love the network keeping Jeff from painting himself idea.  I freakin' hate the body paint and stuff.  Of course, I may be biased because I hate Jeff Hardy.

Wow... muscle buster on Rhino.  Now that's harsh. :)  A true testament to Joe your TNA.  If he can bend that thick frame of Rhino enough to hit the muscle buster, AMW better (koko) beware.

Brown with a roll up.  Just goes to show that Brown doesn't have to knock someone into obliviion with the POOOOOOOOOOOOUNCE to get the victory.  Likes to, but doesn't have to :)

Jerich... er... Irvine & Roode.  I look forward to seeing them together.  Not a bad little combination so early in Irvine's TNA stay.

Predictions

NWA World Heavyweight Title: Chris Irvine vs Jeff Jarrett (c)

Jarrett over Irvine due to interference from Team Canada.

TNA X-Division Title: AJ Styles (c) vs Christopher Daniels

Styles over Daniels

NWA Tag-Team Titles: AMW (c) vs Samoan Scourge vs the Naturals (yes, Larry Zbyszko has added them to this match as a result of the win in their non-title match)

Samoan Scourge over the Naturals (if it's not elimination style)

Jeff Hardy vs TBA (Spike TV! Representative chooses Jeff's opponent at the pre-show)

I think the network will team up with Mitchell and it'll be Hardy vs. Abyss, in which case I'll want AByss to destroy him, but I imagine Hardy would go over.

Petey Williams vs Bobby Roode

Roode over Williams

Monty Brown vs Kip James

Brown over James

Matt Bentley vs Chris Sabin

Bentley over Sabin

Abyss vs TBA (James Mitchell picks another victim for Abyss)

See Jeff Hardy prediction.
rey619Posted on 11/10/05 at 22:39:42

I really wasn't aware of the fact that Irvine owns the rights to the Jericho name.. if that's the fact, I'll have to amend myself at Genesis.. all this copyrighting of names makes my head spin...  ???
Snabbit888Posted on 11/11/05 at 00:39:25

I would assume he owns it anyway... he was using it and making a name for himself with it even prior to ECW days.
Snabbit888Posted on 11/11/05 at 01:01:05

Good show... I generally don't like circuits that are done as "take a real federation and book it from there" but I've been interested here so far.  Just don't blow it! :)

NWA World Heavyweight Title: Chris Irvine vs Jeff Jarrett (c)

*** Jarrett retains be hook or be crook.

TNA X-Division Title: AJ Styles (c) vs Christopher Daniels

*** Daniels regains the belt.

NWA Tag-Team Titles: AMW (c) vs Samoan Scourge vs the Naturals (yes, Larry Zbyszko has added them to this match as a result of the win in their non-title match)

*** AMW retains

Jeff Hardy vs TBA (Spike TV! Representative chooses Jeff's opponent at the pre-show)

*** Christian Cage comes in and defeats Jeff Hardy

Petey Williams vs Bobby Roode

*** Petey Williams

Monty Brown vs Kip James

*** Monty Brown

Matt Bentley vs Chris Sabin

*** Bentley

Abyss vs TBA (James Mitchell picks another victim for Abyss)

*** Dunno who, but Abyss wins.
