[GCW] High Voltage - 2/13/05

Snabbit888Posted on 11/10/05 at 02:30:38

We are only a week away from Beat Your Valentine, but we had lots of action for you here tonight on High Voltage!

Match #1
Low-Ki vs. Shelton Benjamin
Last Monday, Low-Ki's partner Elix Skipper was able to defeat Charlie Haas. Tonight, Ki was looking to defeat the other half of the World Tag Team champions, Shelton Benjamin, which would give Skipper and he a huge advantage going into their title shot in a week's time. Tommy Dreamer made sure to ban Elix Skipper and Charlie Haas from ringside to prevent any kind of brawl, which left us with nothing more than a fantastic match. Benjamin couldn't seem to keep Low-Ki down, and he ended up eating the Ki Krusher to end this contest.

Low-Ki pinned Shelton Benjamin with the Ki Krusher in 0:05:27.
Rating: ****

Skipper and Low-Ki have now pinned the members of the World Tag Team champions individually. If they can match this feat again at Beat Your Valentine, they will be wearing gold yet again.

Match #2
Matt Morgan vs. "The Italian Stallion" Chuck Palumbo
These two men wrestled on the pre-game show for Winter Warfare, and they were doing battle once again. Matt Morgan got the better of Chuck Palumbo in their first meeting, and he was even more impressive in the second meeting. Morgan showed a lot more aggression than last time, and wasn't at all amused by Palumbo's antics. It didn't take long for a Moonlight Bomb to be hit and for Palumbo's shoulders to be pinned to the mat.

Matt Morgan pinned Chuck Palumbo after a Moonlight Bomb in 0:05:25.
Rating: ** 1/4

Match #3
"The Crippler" Chris Benoit vs. Teddy Hart (w/ Dawn Marie)
This match had a bit of indirect history to it. Chris Benoit trained in the famous Hart Family Dungeon many years ago, and Teddy Hart, of course, is a third generation star, the nephew of wrestling legends Bret Hart and Owen Hart. Hart almost seemed a little awestruck to be wrestling Benoit, but he did manage to get a fair share of offense in early on. However this match was never really in doubt as Benoit locked on the Crippler Crossface and had it on so tightly that Hart couldn't even verbally submit and passed out instead.

Chris Benoit defeated Teddy Hart when Teddy Hart passed out in the Crippler Crossface in 0:04:15.
Rating: ***

Benoit looks primed and ready to meet Eric Angle at Beat Your Valentine. If anyone can end Angle's undefeated streak and shut him up, it's the former World Heavyweight champion.

Match #4
MAIN EVENT
Television Title Match
CM Punk (c) (w/ Daffney) vs. Rob Conway
Our main event was a Television Title defense as CM Punk put it up for grabs against Rob Conway. This match was very competitive, and it looked like even more so than Punk was anticipating. Conway is a hungry young competitor, and he has a big future ahead of him in GCW. That future just wasn't to be tonight. Conway gave Punk all he could handle, but one Pepsi Plunge and this one was in the books.

CM Punk pinned Rob Conway with the Pepsi Plunge in 0:10:24.
Rating: *** 3/4
(CM Punk retained the GCW Television Title.)

A great match to bring our broadcast to a close. Be sure to join us tomorrow night for Explosion, the final one before Beat Your Valentine! See you next time!

I've been reading up on GCW on your website, and I'm impressed with the realism of it. I was wondering, in your history section, it says Lesnar gave notice, and then was persuaded to stay. Is this something that is possible game-wise, or did you just implement it as flavor?

That was the game's doing, and my way of countering the game fucking up my next year of plans. :)  Since TNM's engine is designed for a one card a month schedule, I don't always honor quittings/injuries because I'm running 5 or 6 cards a month.
