GLWF Action TV: 2/5/05...

americamamushiPosted on 10/29/05 at 23:39:20

Welcome once again to GLWF Action TV!  We're coming to you from our facilities in Kalamazoo, Michigan and tonight we've got the finals of the Great Lakes Heavyweight title tournament.  That's right, after tonight either Samoa Joe or Michael Shane will be crowned the Great Lakes Heavyweight champion!  Let's get down to action with Clara Michaels in the ring.

Clara Michaels: Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the Great Lakes Wrestling Federation!  Our first match is a singles match scheduled for one fall!  Introducing first, from Grand Rapids, Michigan... weighing in at 169lbs... "The Barbaric Berserker" Jimmy Jacobs!  *Jimmy makes his entrance and is almost immediately attacked from behind by Sonny Siaki*

Siaki is laying a beating on Jacobs.  Siaki eventually beats Jimmy all the way to the ring and chucks him in.  That sneak attack gave him a definite advantage.  He goes for a quick pin but Jacobs kicks at one.  Siaki controlled the opening minutes and and layed into Jacobs with a fiery passion.  He's been very vocal with his hatred for Jimmy Jacobs after Jimmy knocked him out of contention for the title.  Jimmy got on the attack after low bridging Siaki, causing him to tumble to the outside.  Jacobs jumped onto Siaki from the apron and hit a bit rana.  Jacobs threw Siaki around the outside for a little bit as somewhat of a payback and put him back into the ring at 8.  Jimmy went up top and Siaki tried using the ref to get back up, "accidentally" raking the ref's eyes causing him to turn away.  Jacobs came off the top for a double axe handle but Siaki kicked him in the crotch.  The referee turned back around and knew something was up but didn't see it so he couldn't call it.  Siaki runs into the ropes and hits a huge lariat for the three.

Sonny Siaki pinned Jimmy Jacobs after a lariat in 0:06:10.
Rating: **

Sonny Siaki: See?  Didn't I tell you I'd beat Jimmy Jacobs into oblivion for costing me my chance at the title?  His win was a fluke, just like his career.  Next week I'm going to show you all that I'm a champion.

As Siaki leaves he looked more than a little... ummm... under medicated.  Siaki beat Jacobs, but it seems it didn't give him his sanity back.

Clara Michaels: Our next match is a singles match scheduled for one fall!  Introducing first, from Detroit, Michigan... weighing in at 199lbs... "The Next" Alex Shelley!  And his opponent... from Los Angeles, California... weighing in at 196lbs... "1000% Guapo" Shocker!

Tonight Shocker was looking for a little revenge against the man that defeated him in the opening round of the hunt for the title.  Shocker hasn't had a lot of luck as it seems he might be having a little trouble adapting to the American style.  He's one of the best luchadores in Mexico, but he's out of his element here.  Shelley took control early on, using some basic throws, holds and strikes to wear Shocker down.  Shelley tried to beg off at the first sign of trouble.  Shocker didn't take the bait though and managed to lock in the Reinera for a short amount of time.  Shocker tried a little high risk and it paid off getting a close 2 count after a slingshot elbowdrop.  Shelley tried to get away by going outside, but ended up eating a plancha.  Shelley got back in the driver seat by hitting his It Came From Japan, but missed an opportunity to possibly finish the match.  Shocker got another short comeback towards the end thanks to an arm drag followed by a big kick to the head.  He tried for a boston crab, but Shelley blocked it and knocked Shocker down with a backelbow.  Shocker was stunned, but would've been able to kick out if it hadn't been for Shelley pulling the tights.

Alex Shelley pinned Shocker after a back elbow in 0:08:07.
Rating: ** 1/2

Clara Michaels: Our next match is a singles match scheduled for one fall!  Introducing first, from Kalamazoo, Michigan... weighing in at 195lbs... Josh Abercrombie!  And his opponent... from Milwaukee, Wisconsin... weighing in at 202lbs... Austin Aries!

Abercrombie starts off strong, going full force from the get go.  Abercrombie stays a step ahead of Aries for the first part of the match.  Abercrombie hit some big moves, throwing Aries over his head with belly-to-belly suplexes, hitting hard elbowsmashes and flying to the outside with a big asai twisting plancha that initiated an "Abercrombie" chant from the fans.  Abercrombie stayed on top and tossed Aries around the ringside area until the ref got to 8.  Once they got back into the ring things started to fall apart.  Aries crotched Abercrombie on the top rope and hit a big frankensteiner.  Aries stuck to no nonsense, smart moves.  Abercrombie almost took control back after reversing a hiptoss with one of his own, but he tried to follow it with a side suplex which Aries countered with a spinning headscissors.  Both men popped up quick, but Aries was a little quicker as he stuck Abercrombie with a boot and hit a majorly vicious looking Brain Buster for the pin.

Austin Aries pinned Josh Abercrombie after a brain buster in 0:07:02.

Clara Michaels: Our next match is a 4-way match scheduled for one fall... introducing first... from Calgary, Alberta, Canada... weighing in at 251lbs... "Bulldog" Harry Smith!  And his opponent... from Aberdeen, Washington... weighing in at 185lbs... "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson!  And their opponent... from Atlanta, Georgia... weighing in at 224lbs... "The Car" Ernest Miller!  And the final wrestler in this bout... from Paris, France... weighing in at 250lbs... "The French Phenom" Rene Dupree!

Things starts off with Ernest Miller telling his opponents to wait while he danced.  Dupree soon grew sick of Miller's dancing and showed him how it's done.  Miller & Dupree tried to out dance eachother.  After a little bit of that non-sense Smith and Danielson threw eachother a glance and attacked Miller & Dupree.  After some crowd pleasing moves they threw the two to the outside and Danielson and Smith start going at eachother.  After some punches back and forth Smith overpowered Danielson and took control.  Before too long Dupree and Miller teamed up and attacked Smith after Harry hit a big press slam on Danielson.  The two were laying punches into Smith and knocked him off his feet.  Miller went for the pin, but Dupree pushed him off and tried to pin Smith himself.  This devolved into shouting and then pushing before Danielson got up, popped up top without anyone noticing and hit both men with a flying lariat.  The match continued on like this.  Switching back and forth between what was usually groups of three with one left out to take a breather to keep the action paced somewhat quickly.  It wasn't filled with big overdone spots, but the bigger spots they had during transitions between wrestlers were fairly well done.  In the end Dupree & Miller ended up on the outside continuing their little dance off while Smith and Danielson were left on the inside.  Danielson was in trouble as he had recently been hit with Dupree's French Riviera.  Smith was in control and wearing him down further with punches and kicks.  Danielson got a quick second wind and hit a flurry of chops before hitting an axe kick on a bent over Smith and lokcing in the Cattle Mutilation for the win.

Four Corners Match:
Bryan Danielson defeated Harry Smith, Ernest Miller and Rene Dupree when B. Danielson made Smith submit to the Cattle Mutilation in 0:10:20.

The fans watching on TV are shown a prerecorded "Secret Camera"-ish clip of Raven talking to H.B. Cade.  Theres no audio from them because they're too far away from the camera, but you can tell that Cade looks skeptical of whatever Raven is saying to him, but quickly changes his tune and shakes hands with Raven towards the end

Clara Michaels: Our next match is a singles match scheduled for one fall.  Introducing first... from Guildford, Surrey, England... weighing in at 280lbs... Paul Birchall!  And his opponent... from the Bowery... weighing in at 225lbs... Raven!

Birchall started off strong and never stopped.  For the entire length of the match Birchall was just simply in control.  Raven had experience on his side, but Birchall just overpowered him.  Raven could only get a few punches and elbows in here and there, but to his credit always came back for more from Birchall.  Paul hit a big T-Bone suplex and went for the pin.  H.B. Cade came running down to the ring without Birchall seeing him as he was going for the pin and Cade went up top and jumped off with a huge flying legdrop, hitting Birchall, breaking the pin and causing the ref to call for the DQ.  Cade continued assaulting Birchall and after Raven got up he went to the outside and got a kendo stick out from under the ring.  Birchall managed to fight off Cade as Raven was getting back into the ring but was quickly met with a kendo stick to the head.  Birchall was reeling, but didn't go down, Raven hit him again and the kendo stick broke.  It looked like Birchall was out on his feet, but he was still on his feet.  Raven threw the broken kendo stick aside, punted what looked like a field goal with Birchall's nuts and hit the Raven Effect.  Birchall was definitely out now.  That didn't stop Cade & Raven though, they continued to put the boots to him until security came and got them out of the ring.

Paul Birchall defeated Raven by disqualification in 0:03:56.
Rating: * 1/2
[H.B. Cade interfered against Paul Birchall.]

Clara Michaels: And now for our main event of the evening... this match is scheduled for one fall and is for the vacant Great Lakes Heavyweight title!  Introducing first... from San Antonio, Texas... weighing in at 201lbs... "The Essence of Excellence" Michael Shane!  And his opponent... from Orange County, California... weighing in at 270lbs... Samoa Joe!

Michael Shane & Samoa Joe have had a hard road to this match.  They have prove that they are the men to beat here in the GLWF.  Joe seemed to be the first to take any sort of control in the match, using lots of harsh looking chops and kicks.  Joe tried for an early submission with a half crab, but couldn't get it on.  Shane took over for a bit, but couldn't hold it for long as Samoa Joe blocked an attempt at a wheelbarrow suplex.  The crowd really got behind Joe from the very beginning.  Joe tried for quite a few submissions, but Shane had done his homework and got out of all of them before Joe would even really lock it on.  The match had some really well done spots in it and both guys really showcased what they were capable of here.  Their larger spots really progressed during the match, each being more impressive than the last, but none were there just for the sake of being there.  Shane hit a big Picture Perfect Elbow from the apron to the floor onto Joe and it looked like Shane may have done some damage to himself on it.  Shane fought a surprisingly clean match.  Not once did he grabs the ropes or pulls the tights on a pinfall, or hit a low blow or used a choke.  The most he did was rake the eyes here and there.  Towards the end of the match Shane got some near falls after some big moves, but Joe just barely managed to kick out each time and fought back.  Joe got some great pin falls too, and Shane also seemed to keep hanging on, even if just barely.  Joe even managed to lock on the Kokina Clutch, but he was too close to the ropes and Shane managed to reach them after a little bit.  Shane rolled to the outside and threw a chair into the ring.  The ref yelled at Shane and turned around to throw the chair outside.  While he was doing that Joe reached outside to grab Shane and pulled him back in, but was met with a wicked chair shot!  Shane was hiding a second chair, hit Joe with a sickening thud and the ref didn't see a damn thing!  Joe falls back to the mat like he was a red wood and Shane was a lumberjack choppin' that sumbitch down.  Shane smirks to the fans and the camera, goes up top and hits the Picture Perfect Elbow for the three count and the title!

[Great Lakes Heavyweight Title Tournament - Finals]:
Michael Shane pinned Samoa Joe with the Picture Perfect Elbow in 0:20:11.
Rating: *****
(Michael Shane won the Great Lakes Heavyweight title.)

Shane celebrates his newly won title as the fans boo and Joe lays fairly motionless and bleeding in the ring.  Shane makes his way to the back as EMTs come down to check on Joe.  Joe pushes them all away, crawls over to the ropes and demands the microphone from the ringside table.

Samoa Joe: Shane!  You knew that you couldn't beat me fair and square.  You didn't earn that title, you stole it.  I want a re-match.  Next week I want a re-match for the Great Lakes Heavyweight title!

The fans cheer the prospect of next week's Joe/Shane re-match as the show fades out on Joe's face trickling blood.  After that challenge we can't imagine that GLWF officials wouldn't make this match for next week, but one question will remain, of course neither man will be 100% after this match, but how healthy will Joe be after that vicious chair shot?  Tune in next week and find out, and thanks for joining us for another great night of GLWF Action TV!

You're using a lot of talent that I'm very high on (Siaki, Shelley, Danielson, Aries, Shane, Joe), so I'm enjoying this circuit. I'm getting this small-time Indy-feel when I'm reading it, which is quite nice. The added touch of including ring introductions is also a welcome addition.

I'm not to keen on Ernest Miller (who seem to be a hit around the boards as of late), and I'm not to familiar with Josh Abercrombie, but hey, you can't please me with every wrestler  8)

The Shane vs Joe match was a killer, and I'm going to write down a Shane vs Joe feud for possible feuds in my TNA fed. Five-star matches are always welcome  ;D

I'm beginning to think that Shane should keep his title, Samoa Joe is unstoppable enough as it is.

Keep up the good work, and don't let us wait too long for your next one.  ;)

Like I told Snabbit888, I was quite lucky to get a 5-Star match so early on.

As for the wait on the next GLWF card, it's run in the same universe as GCW so I can only put them out as quickly as Ryan does ;D

Thanks for the feedback :)

Maybe the new build makes it easier to attain high ratings? I had two 5 star matches at Bound For Glory, only five cards into the circuit.

Cool, you guys should do a cross-over, both circuits are excellent.

It seems that in your universe that GLWF is to GCW like OVW is to WWE. Not saying it's a bad thing, but since that seems to be the case I was wondering if your talent could be "Promoted" and if any of Snabby's talent would come to you to work off ring rust following an injury.
Snabbit888Posted on 11/02/05 at 00:20:27

That's actually precisely it.  It was one of those things that we weren't going to mention it at first, and just sorta run things, but if you've already gotten that sense, there's no reason to try to work you anymore.  I hate stuff like that.  We're figured out. :)  But yes, we are working together, and GLWF is GCW's developmental territory.  When I actually start getting more time to write, it'll be easier to see how our two circuits work together.
